Exploring Jesus' Teaching Methods: Effective Strategies for 21st-Century Education

21st-century education is a process of enhancing both the quantity and quality of overall talent or potential, empowering individuals to develop better personal character so that the knowledge gained can be applied in their lives. This paper aims to explore how Jesus' teaching methods can be applied as an effective strategy for 21st-century education. 21st-century education encourages educators to utilize technology as a medium for learning, where the learning process and outcomes focus not only on the results achieved but also on the classroom learning process. This study employs a qualitative research method based on a literature review to analyze the issues the author wishes to investigate. The findings of the research indicate that educators should emulate and adopt Jesus' teaching methods by utilizing technology as a means of delivering education to students, particularly in the field of Christian religious education. This approach can effectively transfer knowledge about Christian teachings, thereby enhancing students' faith and spirituality to meet the challenges of the 21st century. Therefore, educators must strive to educate students to keep up with the developments of the 21st century, fostering critical thinking, creativity, communication skills, all based on the Word of God and the fear of God.

The Concept of Islamic Education in the Perspective of Imam Al Ghazali and Its Relevance in the Contemporary Era

The purpose of this research in general is to find out the concept of Islamic education from the perspective of Imam Al-Ghazali and its relevance to contemporary Islamic education (today). Islamic education today is faced with various developments and challenges that certainly need to make changes and improvements to be able to make adjustments to these changes. The research that the author uses in terms of sources is library research which aims to reveal educational thoughts, especially regarding the concept of Islamic education from the perspective of Imam Al-Ghazali by using a content analysis approach. The results of this study indicate that the concept of Islamic education from the perspective of Imam Al-Ghazali is relevant to contemporary education (today). This can be seen in terms of educational goals, the concept of educators and students, learning methods, and learning curriculum which in its application prioritizes aspects of intellectual, moral, and spiritual development and educational evaluation. With this, educational institutions are expected to be able to adopt Al-Ghazali's concept of education to develop the potential of students to become human beings who believe and fear God Almighty, have a noble character, are healthy, knowledgeable, capable, creative, independent, and become democratic and responsible citizens

Meningkatkan Hasil Belajar PAK Melalui Media Canva dalam Problem Based Learning Kelas IX SMP Negeri 1 Wonosari

There are still students of SMP Negeri 1 Wonosari, who have not fulfilled the expectations of the school's vision and mission which is to create people who believe and fear God Almighty, have noble character, are healthy, knowledgeable, capable, creative, independent, and become democratic and responsible citizens. This is evident in the fact that there are still students whose learning outcomes are low. To improve PAK learning outcomes, we tried using canva media in Problem Based Learning. To answer this problem, the researcher used an experimental method with 2 cycles using test and observation instruments. With research using qualitative descriptive data analysis methods. Based on the data obtained, the percentage of student learning outcomes in cycle I is 22% decent, 56% proficient and 22% advanced, which shows that there are still 2 children who need remedial. In cycle II, with canva media, learning outcomes increased to 0% feasible, 11% proficient and 89% advanced. This shows Problem Based Learning can improve critical thinking and learning outcomes.

Obiajulu’s Children and the Wicked Sons of Eli (1 Sam 2:11–17)

The two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas (1 Sam 2:11-36), served along with their father as priests at Shiloh in the tabernacle, where the ark of the covenant was housed (11am 1:3). While in service, Eli’s children became sons of worthlessness (bənȇ-bəliyyaʿal), dishonest, wicked and corrupt, as well as refused to know the Lord (lō’ yāḏə‘û ՚eṯ-ʾădōnāi) and his teachings. They were unrighteous, greedy, intimidating, immoral, and abusive to women at the entrance of the temple (vv. 12-22). Eli did little to correct them, leading to God’s punishment. It compares Obiajulu’s disciplined and trained children (Obinze, Chiwetel, Zain, Kandibe) and the obedient boy, Samuel (vv. 18-22), with the consequences of the blasphemies and corruption of Eli’s children (vv. 11-17). It proposes lessons that no matter how we perform our duties in the church, schools and families, sadness may still come if we neglect to train our children responsibly in righteousness, integrity, hard work, and in the fear of the Lord.

“Negasi dan Harmoni Pesimisme:” Studi Eksposisi Pengkhotbah 1:12-18 dan Manfaat Hikmat Amsal

One of the wisdom literature books that is frequently quoted, though often interpreted out of context, is the book of Ecclesiastes, which remains relevant to the life of believers. However, there are still differences in interpretation and limitations in historical cultural analysis, as well as varying approaches to textual focus and accountability in understanding life. This article aims to bridge the contradictory aspects of the vanity of wisdom in Ecclesiastes 1:12-18 and its harmony with the benefits of wisdom in the book of Proverbs. The methodology used in this research is wisdom literature hermeneutics, which includes an in-depth textual analysis and historical analysis of the text of Ecclesiastes 1:12-18. This approach provides a bridging understanding that allows for recognizing the contradictions (negation) and harmony in the books of Ecclesiastes and Proverbs, as well as their theological and practical implications for readers. Despite the variety of interpretations, integrating these elements offers a comprehensive view of wisdom and provides a critical reflection both scientifically and practically for real-life application through a relevant, proportional, and balanced theological interpretation in understanding hebel and hokmah. Thus, the awareness of the limitations of human wisdom should be oriented towards complete dependence on the fear of the Lord.

Moral Education in Tanzania: Analysis of Indigenous and Formal Education Systems

This paper analyzes moral education in Tanzania between indigenous and formal schooling. Through a critical comparison approach, the paper analyzes the aspects of goals, teachers, content, language, methodology, and certification. Thereafter, the paper draws up some lessons from indigenous moral education such as fear of God, education for life, adult moral models, and using local languages. Others are conformity to perennial moral values, ethical background of teachers, and moral maturity as an addition to other recruitment criteria. Finally, the paper recommends to policymakers and curriculum developers to consider the excellent deeds of indigenous moral education throughout formal education system and cooperate with different stakeholders to build and maintain moral values. There should be an equilibrium in taking good aspects of indigenous moral education and integrating them into formal schooling to ensure the continuity of morality and on the other hand preparing children for the contemporary world.

Ulu al-Albab in the Qur'an: Meaning, Characteristics, and Role in Social Change

This study aims to examine the Qur'anic verses that mention "ulū al-albāb." Using a qualitative research design and content analysis, the primary data were sourced from the Qur'an, while secondary data were collected from tafsir texts and scholarly articles. The findings reveal that "ulū al-albāb" possess profound intellectual and spiritual insight, characterized by knowledge, adherence to divine covenants, maintaining family ties, fear of God, patience, prayer, altruism, and repelling evil with good. These attributes distinguish them from ordinary intelligent individuals. "Ulū al-albāb" are well-suited to lead and implement "dakwah" (Islamic propagation), especially in methods requiring deep understanding and strategic implementation. They are expected to serve as agents of social change by occupying significant positions in societal institutions, leveraging their influence to drive positive transformations. This study highlights the importance of integrating textual and contextual approaches in understanding "dakwah" and the critical role of "ulū al-albāb" in Islamic thought and social change.

The Grammar of Emotion Verbs in the Qurʾān: A Case Study of the verb xāfa

Abstract The concept of emotions has been studied from numerous perspectives in psychology, the history of emotions and religion. This study sheds light on the linguistic devices implemented to articulate emotions in the Qurʾān by taking the emotion verb xāfa ‘to fear’ or ‘to be afraid’ (and its derivatives) as a case study. In both modern and classical dictionaries of the Arabic language as well as in Quranic exegesis, the verb xāfa is often replaced by another verb that expresses fear such as xašiya ‘to be afraid’ or ‘to be in awe’. Here it is shown that the verb xāfa occurs in certain syntactic structures and has specific meanings that are not denoted by other verbs expressing fear in the Qurʾān. Specifically, when the verb xāfa is followed by a subordinate clause that starts with the particle ‘an, it can be rendered as ‘to fear’ or ‘to be afraid’ since the cause of this fear is a probable event. When the verb xāfa is followed by the preposition ‘alā it denotes ‘to fear for [the wellbeing of] someone (e.g., a family member)’ because of a situation in which they are likely to be found. When it is followed by the noun rabb ‘Lord’ or Allāh ‘God’, the verb refers to ‘fear of God’, where fear of His punishment motivates the people to worship Him. When the verbal noun xawf has no object and is used in conjunction with the verbal noun ‘amn (‘security’) it can be interpreted as ‘insecurity about something’. Because the verb xāfa is central to the religious concept of fear of God, it is used in the Qurʾān to express a general and collective attitude of fear or awe. However, xāfa is also used to express individual experiences of fright at specific times or places.

Socio-Cultural and Religious Narratives and Practices Regarding Lunar Eclipse in Village Communities: A Study of Central Punjab, Pakistan

In the history of humankind, lunar eclipse has always captured attention and imaginationof human beings. This study is an anthropological attempt to describe prevailing perceptionsand myths about lunar eclipse and resultant religious and cultural practices in some of therural areas of Central Punjab, Pakistan. For this purpose, qualitative research techniques of in-depth interviews and focus group discussions have been used to understand and untanglethe strings of indigenous perpetuations about a celestial phenomenon. The research findingsshowed multiple sets of socio-cultural and religious beliefs and practices which have beenfollowed through generations that demonstrate the richness of culture and mythological value of local verbal tales. Perceptions include fear of God, remembering the dayof judgment, good or bad luck, and occurrence of disease. Practices include praying, charity, taking certain precautions to avoid the disease, and doing some religious and cultural rituals. Some unique folktales are also narrated by the respondents of the locale which have specificsocio-cultural meanings for them. The paper describes all these perceptions and practices intwo main parts: socio-cultural perceptions and practices and religious perceptions andpractices.

Development of Spiritually Charged Learning Media to Improve Learning Outcomes

Learning media development is an activity to create, improve, or improve the quality of learning information sources so that the desired learning objectives can be achieved. The development of learning media for Automation of Financial Management includes a processing process that involves all activities related to finance, making financial reports and achieving goals for the common good. The development of learning media with spirituality content is related to the profile of Pancasila students in the first element dimension, namely the dimension of faith, fear of God, and noble character, which teaches students to have good morals in relation to God. The problem in this study is how to develop learning media with spirituality to improve learning outcomes. The purpose is to find out the development of learning media with spirituality to improve learning outcomes at SMKS Ngunut Tulungagung. A research approach that conducts research, development, and testing of a product is called a research and development approach which produces certain products that are in accordance with the needs analysis. This research and development can test the effectiveness of the product so that the product can be useful for students. This research uses the Borg and Gall development model, which uses several stages for its development. The research uses the ASSURE approach with the steps needed to design and create an effective, efficient, and attractive teaching material. The results showed that (1) The first material expert validation received a score of 80, meaning good assessment, and the second material expert validation received a score of 93, meaning very good. (2) The first learning media expert validation received a score of 72, which means it is quite qualified, and the second learning media expert validation received a score of 83, which means it is good. (3) So the development of spiritually charged learning media with the One Day One Letter system can be used to improve learning outcomes. Ancient Travellers, Intercultural Contact, and the Fear of Gods

Although the fear of Yhwh has been presented as an intrinsic feature of the ancient Israelite religion, the fear of God(s) is not limited to the people of Israel in the Hebrew Bible, and similar ideas of fearing deities occur in various texts produced by neighbouring cultures in the ancient eastern Mediterranean. This article investigates the prosocial role of this virtue in situations of human mobility and intercultural contact in the light of the Hebrew Bible and the Odyssey. First, I analyse those Hebrew Bible texts in which the fear of God(s) characterizes or is presented as being intelligible to non-Israelite people in situations involving movement and cultural encounter (Gen 20:11; 42:18; Exod 1:17, 21; Deut 25:18; Jon 1:9). Second, I explore the fear motif in other texts from the ancient eastern Mediterranean region and argue that biblical scholars have overlooked illuminating intertexts found in ancient Greek literature. I especially highlight the interpretative importance of the Odyssey, which frequently stresses the prosocial role of the virtue of fearing deities in the context of travel and contact with outsiders. In so doing, the Odyssey helps us see how the Hebrew Bible texts portraying the fear of God(s) as a universalistic virtue are rooted in and belong to a broader ancient Mediterranean milieu.

An Analysis of The Relevance of The Pancasila Learner Profile in The Learning of Biology

Pancasila education is relevant to biology learning because it helps in the development of the Pancasila Learner Profile, which includes characteristics such as critical thinking and creativity. The purpose of this study was to analyse the relevance of Pancasila Learner Profile in biology learning and the challenges in integrating Pancasila values in biology learning. This research uses descriptive method with the sample being students of grade XII of SMA Negeri 1 Aek Kuo, SMA Negeri 1 Rantau Selatan and SMA Negeri 2 Rantau Selatan. Data collection was done through interview and observation. The sampling technique used in this research is purposive sampling because this school has implemented an independent curriculum. The results showed that for the dimension of faith, fear of God and noble character, students are required to pray before and after learning, the dimension of global citizenship, students are divided into groups to conduct experiments, the dimension of mutual cooperation, students carry out greening activities to preserve the environment. The independent dimension, students work independently on biology tasks, the critical thinking dimension, students solve problems that arise during experiments, and the creative dimension, students produce work from recycling waste.

Character Values of The Independent Learning Curriculum on The Profile of Pancasila Students in The Burlian Novel

In reality the profile of the Pancasila youth is still not maximally achieved. Based on data from the Indonesian Child Protection Commission, in 2020 the number of children victims of violence in schools (bullying) increased to 76 students from 46 students in the previous year. One of the legendary novels that holds a lot of values is the novel entitled Burlian by Tere Liye. This novel contains educational aspects that are relevant to everyday life. This study is to identify the character values in independent learning curriculum of profile of Pancasila students that can be implemented to build students’ character in the novel “Burlian”. The research method is qualitative research with intertext approach. The role of the researcher is a compulsory because the researcher is the key instrument in this study. The "Pancasila Student Profile" consists of six elements: (1) Faith, Fear of God, and Noble Manners, (2) Global Diversity, (3) Mutual Assistance, (4) Independence, (5) Critical Reasoning, (6) Creativity. The six characteristics included the Pancasila Student Profile. The instrument was used to assess the character in the Burlian Novel. The results revealed that the character values in the Burlian Novel matched Pancasila Student Profile.

Numinous Fear: How Rudolf Otto Altered the Way We Think About the “Fear of God”

Rudolf Otto remains one of the most influential theologians of the early 20th century. One area where he made a sizable impact was on the “fear of God” discussion. From Otto’s influence emerged the theory of Numinous Fear as a means of explaining the “fear of the gods” in the ancient world. However, there are misunderstandings regarding Numinous Fear and Otto’s role in its conception. To this end, this article investigates the extent of Otto’s influence regarding Numinous Fear and the consequential effects to the “fear of God” discussion.

PERAN ORANG TUA DALAM MEMBIMBING KARAKTER ANAK REMAJA USIA 12-15 TAHUN DI GEREJA BETHEL INDONESIA TABGHA TANJUNG PIAYU BATAM

Parents do not yet have an understanding of the role of parents in guiding the character of teenagers aged 12-15 years. The character of teenagers at GBI Tabgha Tanjung Piayu Batam has challenges because there are still those involved in racing, the temptation to smoke, drink alcohol, the social interactions of school children who often tempt them not to take part in church activities, like to go against their parents, have a bad temper and are stubborn. . Parents lack communication with teenage children at GBI Tabgha Tanjung Piayu Batam so that there is a breakdown in the relationship between parents and children and the children's character is not formed from a positive environment. The character of teenagers at GBI Tabgha Tanjung Piayu Batam has challenges because some are still involved in racing, tempted to smoke, drink alcohol. This research aims to find out the extent of the benefits of the role of parents in guiding the character of teenagers aged 12-15 years at Bethel Indonesia Tabgha Church Tanjung Piayu Batam. The role of parents is realized through regular and personal guidance regarding positive and negative things that should be avoided or done. Parents play a role in forming the spiritual maturity of their teenagers based on God's Word so that in the future teenagers will become individuals who are strong and sturdy in their faith and fear of God. This research uses qualitative methods and the informants in this research are five parents whose data can be collected from interviews. The results of the research found that church worship is very useful and proven to develop the character of teenagers. Parents often do not provide space for teenagers to talk about their feelings, problems or worries. A lack of open communication can make children feel unheard or unappreciated. Guiding the character of teenagers, especially parents, is very important in forming a family environment that is harmonious, full of love and understanding for children

DVASINIAI BAIMĖS IDENTIFIKAVIMO IR ĮVEIKOS ASPEKTAI

This article analyses the phenomenon of fear based on the Holy Scriptures and Christian theological and pastoral insights. Fear is highlighted as a result of sin and the fall of man. The attributes and consequences of the fear of man and the fear of God, and existential aspects of fear, are analysed. Elements of the reverent fear of God and the importance of growing in it are emphasised. Possibilities and ways of overcoming fear are discussed, and practical guidelines are provided for identifying fear and helping to discover ways to overcome it through Christian spiritual help.

ZAKAT EVASION IN ISLAMIC JURISPRUDENCE AND PALESTINIAN LAW (Article in Arabic version)

Zakat, one of the five pillars of Islam, is an obligatory duty according to the Quran, Sunnah (Prophet's traditions), and consensus. Evading Zakat is considered a major sin in Islamic jurisprudence. Caliph Abu Bakr fought against those who withheld Zakat. From a legal perspective, Palestinian legislation in Zakat Regulation Law No. 9 of 2008 criminalizes Zakat evasion. This research aims to study the phenomenon of Zakat evasion in Islamic jurisprudence and Palestinian law, elucidating its causes and methods of combating it. The research employs inductive, analytical, and comparative methodologies. It concludes that perpetrators of Zakat evasion in Islamic jurisprudence are subject to worldly and otherworldly punishments, in addition to being compelled to pay Zakat forcibly. Zakat evasion is also criminalized under Palestinian law, with penalties mainly imposed on legal entities rather than natural persons, as paying Zakat by natural persons is voluntary, not obligatory. The primary reason for Zakat evasion is weakened religious consciousness and a lack of fear of God. Ignorance of Zakat rules and ineffective penalties for evasion contribute to the issue. The research recommends activating Zakat Regulation Law in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, curbing evasion through nurturing strong faith-based education centered around God-consciousness and reverence. This involves incentivizing the rewards of fulfilling Zakat and warning of the consequences, both in this world and the hereafter. Implementing a policy of compulsory Zakat payment for natural and legal persons is advised, along with imposing strict and deterrent penalties on Zakat evasion offenders.
