Plasma Livestock Participation Level in Patterns of Broiler Partnership in West Lombok District

This research aims to determine the characteristics of plasma farmers, the level of participation of plasma farmers, and the correlation between the characteristics and the level of participation of plasma farmers in partnership pattern broiler chicken farming businesses in West Lombok Regency. Three sub-districts in West Lombok Regency, namely, Gerung Sub-district, Lingsar Sub-district and Sheet Sub-district were chosen as sample locations purposively, taking into account that there were breeders who had at least two years of experience as plasma breeders in the partnership pattern broiler chicken farming business. All plasma breeders who met these requirements, namely 18 people, were taken as respondents. Primary data collection was carried out using interviews and direct observation at the location of the farmer's farm. The collected data was analyzed using a scoring system and the Spearman Rank correlation statistical test. The results of the research show that the level of farmer participation in the partnership pattern broiler chicken farming business is classified as moderate, and the correlation of characteristics with the level of farmer participation, only the number of family dependents and the experience factor as a plasma farmer are significant (p<0.05) with a correlation coefficient (rs) -0.656 and 0.567 respectively.

Perceived Survival Risk, Motivation for New Enterprises, and Entrepreneurship Knowledge: A Case from Small Agricultural Entrepreneurs in Tennessee

Entrepreneurship can create significant positive changes for economic development in rural areas. Specific to small farmers, who find it difficult to directly compete with large operations through conventional production in local and global marketplaces, the development of new feasible enterprises could be an important sustainable strategy. To understand the motivations of farm businesses, perceived survival risks, and entrepreneurship knowledge, we conducted a primary survey among small agricultural entrepreneurs (SAEs) in Tennessee. Based on the findings from our sample, SAEs are highly passionate and motivated in farming, the majority have business-related education or background (67% of the sampled SAEs) and consider themselves as self-employed (51% of sampled SAEs). Over half of our sampled SAEs developed 1 to 3 new enterprises in their farm or related businesses in the past 5 years while a few SAEs developed up to six new enterprises. However, we found that SAEs find their operation risky to continue and are challenged mainly by the shortage of skilled and reliable labor, finance and loans, and competitive markets. We also examined SAE’s level of understanding of different aspects of entrepreneurship and discussed the implications of our findings.

Sistem Sewa Lahan Pertanian Masyarakat Pedesaan dalam Perspektif Ekonomi

This study aims to analyze the system of agricultural land leases carried out by landowners in rural Ngronggot Nganjuk District with qualitative research methods. The results of this study found that the land leasing system is called the Ngronggot Village community of Nganjuk Regency as the "Annual Adol". In the "Annual Adol" system, there are three stages of agreement found, namely: Pre agreement, Agreement, and after agreement. In an economic perspective the phenomenon of agricultural land rent is carried out by landowners against the backdrop of economic rationality which provides a higher opportunity cost when deciding to lease land compared to working on agricultural land itself mainly related to the risk of crop failure and the amount of harvest produced is lower than the cost his farming business. Whereas for land tenants the economic rationality underlying is that the greater the mastery of the cultivated agricultural land, the greater economic benefits received by the land tenant.

Increasing Agricultural Sector Investment through Sectors and Regional Leading Products in Central Java Province

This article aims to analyze the advantages and competitiveness of agricultural sectors and sub-sectors that have advantages in the economy of Central Java Province. The analytical tools used to determine the leading sectors and sub-sectors are location quotient (LQ), Klassen Analysis, Shift Share Analysis, and Sectoral Typology. By using data from 2023, it was found that overall, most of the sub-fields in the agriculture, forestry and fisheries business sector of Central Java Province were categorized as competitive sectors. The subsector that is not categorized as competitive is food crops. The agriculture, forestry and fisheries sector is categorized as an advanced business field and its growth is very fast, but the forestry and logging, fisheries sub-sector has a slow growth speed but is a growing industry. The agriculture, livestock, hunting, and agricultural services sub-fields have very fast and advanced growth so that they can become regional superior potential. The commodities of food crops and plantation crops still need further attention because the speed of growth is still hampered, although the industry has potential and is developing.

Applied qualitative methods for social life cycle assessment: a case study of Canadian beef

PurposeThis paper presents a transparent and rigorous methodological approach to conducting a case study of social performance (SP) within the conventional life cycle of Canadian beef. The objective was to explore the potential benefits and risks (or hotspots) of practices on Canadian beef farm businesses (BFBs) and slaughter operations (BSOs) to establish valid benchmarks and a social sustainability roadmap for decision-makers to improve SP.MethodsThis study undertook a novel and participatory approach to social life cycle assessment (S-LCA). Respondents from both within and at-arms-length to the beef value chain were engaged to identify SP practices and perceptions and develop the life cycle inventory. The goal and scope, inventory, assessment, and interpretation were conducted in a three-phased approach: (i) scoping; (ii) practice-based assessment; and (iii) deep-dive assessment. Data collected through mixed methods, including Q method, interviews, surveys, and literature review, were assessed using a type I (reference scale) approach and interpreted through critical interpretive synthesis. Organizational SP was explored at BFBs and BSOs, considering the following stakeholders: value chain actors, farmers, employees, and cattle.Results and discussionOutcomes from the applied approach explore the interrelations between organizations and stakeholders along the value chain. Impact categories concerning labour management, people’s health and safety, and animal care were prioritized for deep-dive assessment. Subcategories included novel topics, like recruitment and retention and access to mental health resources. A range of potential benefits and areas for improving SP were identified at BFBs and BSOs. Potential risks from SP were identified for stakeholders from working hours, communication and dispute resolution, animal transport, and personal protective equipment practice areas. Results informed strategic activities for the National Beef Sustainability Strategy.ConclusionThis study contributes to the social sustainability discourse in livestock systems by demonstrating a qualitative approach to S-LCA that can be replicated by practitioners to explore valid and locally specific social dimensions of sustainability. Practitioners may consider the approach and results in future studies to better capture and manage the complex and dynamic nature of livestock systems, leading to more effective social sustainability decisions that incorporate diverse stakeholder perspectives.

The Organic Business of the New Generation Throughout the Agricultural Supply Chain

The objectives of this research were to investigate the way of being a farmer, the type of farmer, and the outcome on oneself and organic farming society of the new generation farmers. Twenty model farmers of the new generation accepted by organic farming community were studied using a qualitative research method with primary and secondary data collection. The results showed that there was a significant in growth rate of both area and number of agricultures during the years 2011-2021. These results are in line with the government policy of the Organic Agriculture Strategy 2017-2021 and the (draft) Organic Agriculture Action Plan 2023-2027. The factors that encourage the new generation to do more organic farming are push and pull factors. Nine patterns and two types of organic farming are in line with the way of life, needs, and goals of the new way of life, with the new generation of farmers having a way of farming throughout the supply chain based on organic farming business ecology, and upstream, middle, and downstream. The new generation involved in organic farming showed both concrete and symbolic effects. The concrete effects are: 1) The economic dimension is reducing expenditures and having income from both primary and supplementary sources. 2) The health dimension is physical health, mental health, and social health. The symbolic effects are: 1) There are a change and expansion of the meaning of the word farmers. 2) The image of farmers is promoted. 3) There is support from various sectors, both public and private sectors, and 4) raising awareness to consumers on living a good life with "food".

Information technology utilization by agricultural entrepreneurs in Ganjam district, Odisha

Information technology is considered one of the most important modern tools for the success of agricultural business, especially for entrepreneurs. Based on this premise, this study aimed to investigate the factors influencing its utilization among agricultural entrepreneurs in the Ganjam District of Odisha, India. Data was collected from a purposive sample of 48 agricultural entrepreneurs, including mushroom cultivation, cashew processing, and egg layer business. A questionnaire was used, consisting of questions formulated by the researcher and a group of experts in agricultural. A four-point scale was used to obtain a value indicating the level of success in using information technology. Descriptive statistics such as frequency, percentage, and standard deviation were applied to determine the classification of study variables, while multiple linear regression analysis was employed to identify the key factors influencing the utilization of information technology among agricultural entrepreneurs. The results revealed the presence of three independent variables that significantly affect the dependent variable at a significance level of 5%. These variables include (X3) knowledge, (X10) availability of technical support and training for implementing information technology, and (X13) environmental factors, all of which have a positive impact on the dependent variable (Y). The study may provide key principles for the development of information technology utilization among agricultural entrepreneurs, offering a set of suggestions for researchers and policymakers regarding needs analysis to support entrepreneurs in Ganjam, which can be generalized to include other states in Odisha.

Economic Analysis of Major Crops in Jammu Division of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, India

This micro-economic study focuses on the cost and returns analysis for major crops (wheat, paddy, and maize) in the districts of Jammu, Kathua, and Samba in the Jammu division. Conducted at SKUAST, Jammu during 2023, the study utilized a multistage random sampling method to achieve its objectives. Data was collected from 360 sample farmers, covering aspects such as land-holding size, costs, and return structures. The costs associated with crop cultivation varied pointedly across the districts, with Samba incurring ₹14272.57 for Cost A2 and ₹33023.58 for Cost C3 which was the highest of overall costs. Jammu had the highest main-product yield of 25.22 quintals and by-product yield of 32.70 quintals. Jammu also recorded the highest fixed costs (₹13488.30) whereas the highest total cost was in Samba with ₹30021.43. Gross returns were highest in Jammu with ₹68303.22, resulting in net returns of ₹38740.29. Jammu also had the highest benefit-cost ratio of 1:2.30, as well as the highest family labor income and farm business income (₹41755.29 and ₹43060.92, respectively). The rental value of owned land (Cost B2) suggestively impacted final costs, and Jammu district emerged as the most economically favorable for major crop cultivation. Overall, it depicted the possible profitability from cultivation of major crops like wheat, paddy and maize, that may encourage the farming community specially the youngsters to choose agriculture over private sectors, which would ultimately contribute to meet the state demand as well as contribution to SGDP.

Economic aspects of Industry 4.0 marketing technologies implementation in the agricultural sector of Ukraine

The study aimed to assess the impact of Industry 4.0 marketing technologies on the efficiency of business processes in the agro-industrial complex of Ukraine in the current market conditions. The study established that Industry 4.0, as a new stage of technological development, radically changes traditional methods of production, business and management by integrating digital technologies with physical processes. With the use of big data, artificial intelligence, and machine learning, agricultural businesses can create accurate customer profiles, develop personalised marketing campaigns, and automate routine tasks such as audience segmentation and forecasting market changes. The study also addressed the impact of the Internet of Things, social media and digital platforms on customer engagement and supply chain management. Innovations in e-commerce and the use of augmented and virtual reality also substantially improve the marketing efficiency of agricultural enterprises. The impact of the war in Ukraine on the introduction of digital technologies in the farming sector was emphasised. While investment in digitalisation declined during the conflict, the war also stimulated the search for innovative solutions, such as the use of drones to monitor fields and technology to improve cybersecurity. The impact of the war on consumer habits and priorities has also necessitated rapid adaptation of marketing strategies. Based on the study, which included a survey of 727 enterprises, the level of adoption of Industry 4.0 technologies among large, medium and small enterprises, as well as their plans for further implementation, was determined. The results showed that large enterprises are leading the way in adopting new technologies such as data analytics and artificial intelligence, while small and medium enterprises are just beginning to implement these solutions

Factors Affecting Seaweed (Eucheuma cottoni) Production in Banten Province (Case in Lontar Village)

Seaweed is one of the plants that has a lot of potential as a functional food ingredient, active ingredient of drug preparation and even cosmetics that are quite natural in producing various pharmacological activities both as a source of antioxidants, antibacterials, antimicrobials and anticancer. Seaweed is currently a potential asset for areas that are able to produce it to meet the increasing market needs. Lontar Village, located in Banten Province, is one of the main seed producing areas. However, seed production factors are one of the main indicators that need to be used as a standard in this study, such as the length of the rope span, age characteristics, education characteristics, characteristics of the seed farmer's business experience. This type of research is quantitative and data is obtained primarily and secondarily. The data obtained were analyzed using the SPSS 26 program. The results of the study showed that the factors that influence seaweed production in Banten Province, especially Lontar Village, are influenced by the length of the rope span, age characteristics, education characteristics, characteristics of the seaweed farmer's business experience. The conclusion is that seaweed production is influenced by various characteristics, namely age, education, and seaweed farming experience.

The Development Strategy of the Dragon Fruit Farming Business in Sei Sijenggi Village Reviewed from The Side of Maslahah

This research aims to identify strategies for developing the dragon fruit farming business in Sei Sijenggi Village using SWOT analysis based on the mashlahah (Welfare) theory. This research was conducted qualitatively and data was collected through observation and interviews. SWOT analysis is used to analyze the collected data. The research found that internal factors consist of four strength factors and four weakness factors, while external factors consist of four opportunity factors and four threat factors. In the SWOT diagram, the combination of the IFAS value of 2.94 and the EFAS value of 2.86 shows that the strategy for developing the dragon fruit farming business in Sei Sijenggi Village is in quadrant 1 from the mashlahah side. This condition shows that it is still in a strategic position to continue to be developed because the strength score is more dominant than the weakness score (easy cultivation and low risk in accordance with the mashlahah principle) and the opportunity score is more dominant than the threat score (potential supporting natural resources). The S-O (Strength-Opportunity) strategy is the main strategy that can be used in this research. However, aggressive strategies were used to support this research.

ANALISIS KELAYAKAN USAHA PETERNAKAN BURUNG PUYUH PEDAGING (Coturnix coturnix japonica) DI KECAMATAN KERUMUTAN

Quail farming business is one of the potential businesses as the population increases and public awareness of the need for daily animal protein sources that are easy to get at affordable prices compared to other poultry meat. The objectives of this study are to find out the feasibility of Mr. Agung Wibowo's quail farming business in Kerumutan District based on market and marketing aspects, technical aspects, environmental aspects and financial aspects. Data collection is carried out by means of field surveys, interviews, literature studies and documentation. The result of this research is that the quail farming business owned by Mr. Agung Wibowo in Kerumutan District is worthy of continuing. Based on market and marketing aspects, it is feasible because it has segmentation, clear targeting and market position, and a selling price that is quite competitive compared to other poultry meat prices and has a marketing strategy with a marketing mix. From the technical aspect, it is feasible because it has all the necessary facilities and equipment and have a clear production cycle and business location. From the environmental aspect, it is feasible because of the environmental impact management. Based on the results of the calculation, the financial aspect is declared feasible. Where the R/C Ratio value > out of 1, which is 1.5. The value of the π/C Ratio is 0.57% higher than the value of the BRI Simpedes savings interest rate of 0.25%. Production BEP Value < Production Amount and BEP Value Price < Selling Price per Head. From the results of the calculation of the Production BEP Value is 3,312 heads. So 3,312 Heads < 5,162 Heads and the result of calculating the BEP Price Value is Rp. 3,011. Then Rp. 3,011 < Rp. 5,500.

ASSESSMENT AND CURRENT TRENDS OF ENSURING FOOD SECURITY IN UKRAINE

The research on Ukraine's food security is of paramount importance, as it directly impacts the national agro-food systems. The article delves into the current state of internal food self-sufficiency in the Ukrainian population, conducting an analytical assessment of export-import transactions with agricultural raw materials and food products. The findings reveal a significant trend of increasing food exports in recent years, along with an evaluation of the export-import coverage for the main types of food products. Ukraine's place in the world rating of food security based on the Global Food Security Index was studied. The fundamental problems and reasons that determined Ukraine's decrease in the rating positions and the level of food security of its population were identified. In addition to the military conflict, Ukraine has a low economic availability of food products for the population and a low level of sustainability in the domestic agro-food system. Despite the war's consequences, the agricultural business remains one of the most profitable economic activities in Ukraine. This analysis of individual indicators of the effectiveness of the country's agrarian sector as a basis for ensuring food security underscores the sector's potential. The modern production structure of the main types of agricultural products by categories of producers was studied. The key trends accompanying ensuring food security in Ukraine under modern conditions are summarized. It was revealed that food security in the crop sector is achieved at the expense of the public sector agrarian formations, mainly at the expense of households in the livestock sector. Based on the average values ​​of the actual consumption indicators, the state of providing the population with the main types of food was analyzed. The results showed problematic aspects in providing the country's population with meat and dairy products, fish, fruits, berries, and grapes. The priority directions for ensuring and strengthening food security on a national scale are substantiated. Among the main ones, the following are highlighted: the need to implement sustainable farming and animal husbandry practices, further improvement of the food quality management and control system, protection of biodiversity of ecological agrosystems, optimization and reduction of value chains, increasing the level of social responsibility of food producers and consumers.

Sustainable marketing strategy and the growth of organic agriculture enterprises

The Philippines’ economy is strongly reliant on agriculture. Organic agriculture production is usually recognized as the main driver of sustainable economic development especially in rural areas since it adheres to the principles of sustainability and sustainable marketing. The benefits of agricultural organic products, their appearance, taste and processing, sustainable marketing techniques, the development of organic agricultural businesses, the lack of genetically modified organisms and consumer purchasing decisions such as the cost of sustainable products are all the primary focus of this study. Moreover, it helps Asian farmers, producers and consumers understand how effective marketing can be for agricultural businesses. Researchers, entrepreneurs, students and consumers benefit as well. The data gathered through the use of an appropriate sampling strategy resulted in 279 responses. The programme known as SmartPLS 4 was used to carry out the analysis of this data. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that each of the eight assumptions about the total impact dimensions was supported. It was determined that only two of the hypotheses were not significant: "The growth of organic agricultural businesses may be affected by sustainable marketing strategies" and "Sustainable marketing strategy mediates purchasing decisions towards organic agricultural business development." The development of organic agricultural businesses is influenced by the views and decisions of consumers on their purchases based on the findings. A similar study using a longitudinal research approach may be conducted by future researchers to verify the findings revealed.

Analysis of Aqiqah Business Marketing in Aqiqah Farm Medan Farm Sunggal District Medan City

Ruminants are an important source of protein for humans which also provides economic benefits. This study aims to determine the general description of Aqiqah Medan Farm, marketing mix, income value, R/C ratio, and B/C ratio. Study method uses quantitative descriptive analysis with puIDRosive sample selection. The parameters observed were marketing mix, income, R/C ratio and B/C ratio. The results of the study were products sold in the form of live sheep and processed dishes, with the lowest selling price on live livestock of IDR.850,000/head, and processed dishes of IDR.1,450,000/head. The revenue earned was IDR.60,676,250/month, with an R/C ratio and B/C ratio value of 2.26, and 1.26, respectively. In conclusion that Aqiqah Medan Farm business is considered feasible.

Perspektif Etika Bisnis Islam Terhadap Pengelolaan Peternakan Ayam Di Desa Pinggir Air

Considering that the egg products of purebred chickens of farmers in waterfront villages have not been able to meet the standard needs of around 20% of the local market needs, so that purebred chicken eggs are imported from outside the region to meet egg needs. The lack of supply from within this area is not able to meet local needs, making the opportunities for the waterfront village community to develop laying hen farm management very wide open. This research is to find out the Perspective of Islamic Business Ethics on the implementation of Chicken Farm Management. The research method used is qualitative research with sample determination. The key informant in this study is a chicken farmer in Pinggir Air. Non-key informants are people who are considered to know the problem being researched. The result of this study is an indicator of the management of chicken farms in Pinggir Air Village, this chicken farming business uses land and personal capital partly from loans from conventional banks. This chicken farming marketing system uses a direct marketing system. The perspective of Islamic business ethics on the implementation of chicken farm management in Pinggir Air Village has fully applied the principles of Islamic business ethics based on unity (monotheism or unity) by not leaving the essence of worship to God, as well as establishing a balance in determining fair egg prices for all consumers and being responsible and honest in determining and maintaining egg quality.

Sosialisasi dan Pembinaan Pekarangan Pangan Lestari (P2L) Pada Kelompok Wanita Tani di Wilayah Kota Blitar

The Ministry of Agriculture is promoting the Sustainable Food Program (P2L) which aims to meet people's needs for food and nutritional consumption patterns as well as ways to maximize empty land which can be used as an opportunity for conservation (Annonimous, 2021). Another aim is to increase community awareness and family knowledge about the processing and care of food plants, fruit and vegetables for cultivation, encourage the growth of seeds or plants so that their sustainability is maintained and increase the community's productive income by supplying and utilizing empty land in their respective home gardens. In the field, it is still difficult to implement P2L in the target group, namely the Women Farmers Group in the city of Blitar. For this reason, outreach and coaching activities are needed so that group understanding and awareness can increase enthusiasm in implementing it, so that it will increase the availability, accessibility and use of their yards as a source of food as well as collecting cash. Community organizations are involved in this organization. By utilizing the yard, the community is encouraged to grow food crops, vegetables, fruit, medicinal plants, tuber plants as an alternative for food diversification as part of the P2L program. More than that, the P2L program is an agricultural business in or around the city that utilizes knowledge, experience and creativity to cultivate and process food for the community by utilizing empty land and yards to contribute to nutrition, improve the local community's economy and improve welfare (Aini , 2015). P2L activities are carried out using sustainable agricultural development methods, utilization of local resources (local wisdom), community empowerment (community engagement), and marketing focus strategies to achieve these goals (go to market). The implementation is planting various plants through nursery work, demonstration plots, planting, post-harvest work and commercialization. (Musdalifah et al., 2023) The activity was carried out using a lecture method explaining the legality of P2L implementation, implementation, implementation procedures to 20 KWTs in the Blitar City Area by the proposer of Unisba Blitar Internal PKM 2024.

Desiri Naturals: sustainable agriculture and eco-friendly business

Learning outcomes After completion of the case study, the students will be able to critically analyze the business model of Desiri Naturals, analyze the pricing strategy of Desiri Naturals, examine the importance of experiential marketing in the success of an environment-friendly business, identify the challenges faced by new entrepreneurs and evaluate the sustainability practices of Desiri Naturals. Case overview/synopsis This case study discusses the business model of an environmentally friendly business. The challenges and obstacles faced by entrepreneurs are illustrated in this case. The entrepreneurs’ vision to provide chemical-free food is highlighted and their business operations as a means to fulfill this vision are explained. Desiri used an age-old bull-driven method of oil extraction (Ghana). Challenges in pricing due to the availability of low-priced mass-produced edible oil using the solvent extraction process are presented in this case. The entrepreneurs faced the pricing dilemma at the inception of the business, as oil produced using the natural cold pressing method cost three times the selling pricing of solvent-extracted oil. Innovative methods of experiential marketing such as Ghana tourism are explained in this case. This case study also explains the sustainable and natural farming techniques propagated through its network of farmers. This case study provides insights into the scalability of this model and the scope for employment generation in rural India. The environmentally friendly practices followed by Desiri, such as the use of glass bottles and reusable steel containers for packaging oil are emphasized. Finally, this case presents the marketing and operational challenges faced by entrepreneurs in their quest to expand their operations. Strategizing emissions reduction investment for a livestock production farm amid power demand pattern: A path to sustainable growth under the carbon cap environmental regulation

Livestock production companies come under increasing responsibility to reduce their environmental impact, and thereby, the simultaneous decision-making of inventory replenishment and emissions reduction investment has become essential for ensuring sustainable development in the livestock farming business. This study investigates, for the first time, the best investment strategy for a livestock farming business under the carbon cap (CC) environmental legislation, taking into account both the edible and non-edible parts of slaughtering mature growing items (GIs) after procuring and feeding baby GIs. By fusing economic and environmental factors, this study aims to shed light on two crucial issues: (i) figuring out the appropriate level of investment needed for the farm to adhere to the CC environmental regulation; and (ii) evaluating the effect of the investment decision on the farm's expenses and emissions levels. To deal with these insights, a thorough analytical framework integrating mathematical modeling methodology, economic evaluation, and carbon accounting approaches is employed. By analyzing the interaction between the farm's emissions reduction investments and replenishment choices, the cost-effective investment level is determined that enables the farm to satisfy the carbon cap obligation while guaranteeing maximum operational efficiency. The results of this study have important ramifications for livestock farming businesses trying to make their way through the stringent CC emission law. The results indicate that in order to keep the business feasible when the cap of the CC guideline is low, the livestock-producing farm should give priority to investing in minimizing feed emissions and using cutting-edge manure treatment methods.
