The Influence of Family Psychoeducation on Family Knowledge, Ability and Burden in the Care of People with Schizophrenia at the Psychiatric Polyclinic of Pariaman Hospital

This study aims to determine the influence of family psychoeducation on knowledge, abilities and family burden in caring for people with Schizophrenia at the Psychiatric Polyclinic at Pariaman Regional Hospital. This research was carried out at Pariaman Hospital from September 2022 to September 2023. This type of research is quantitative and quasi-experimental with a control group. The population in this study were families of ODS who visited the mental health clinic at Pariaman Regional Hospital, totalling 94 people and a sample of 32 people. The data collection tool/instrument used was a questionnaire. Data analysis in this research uses the Validity Test, Reliability Test, Univariate Analysis and Bivariate Analysis. The results of this study show that family psychoeducation therapy has a positive impact on increasing the knowledge and abilities of families who care for family members with Schizophrenia. A comparison between families who received Psychoeducational therapy and those who did not showed significant differences in knowledge, abilities and family burden. Family Psychoeducational Therapy can be considered an effective intervention in supporting families who care for family members with Schizophrenia in the psychiatric polyclinic of Pariaman Hospital.

Minimizing the Psychological Impact of the Covid-19 Pandemic on Vulnerable Groups: Elderly and Mental Disorders Through Family Psychoeducation

The increase in the number of COVID-19 cases has had a negative impact on everyone's mental health, including vulnerable groups of the elderly and people with mental disorders. This is because the elderly and people with mental disorders have difficulty adjusting and are unfamiliar with their social environment. The purpose of this service is to provide support through family psychoeducation to minimize the psychological impact on vulnerable groups. Lecture and discussion methods are used to increase family knowledge in caring for the elderly and mental disorders. To measure the psychological condition of the vulnerable group, the SRQ-20 questionnaire was used and analyzed statistically (dependent t-test). Role play and simulation methods are used to improve family skills in caring for, managing burdens and utilizing health services. The results showed that there was an influence of psychoeducation on the psychological condition of the elderly with p-value <α (0.04<0.05), and for the mental disorder group it also showed that the treatment given in the form of family psychoeducation therapy gave benefits to psychological conditions with p-value <α (0.00). <0.05). This therapy is proven to be effective because it can provide information on the ability of families experiencing distress, provide education to them to improve their ability to understand and have strong coping so that problems do not occur in family relationships.

Family Psychoeducation mengurangi Tingkat Kecemasan pada Caregiver Pasien Skizofrenia di Puskesmas Sedayu 2

ABSTRACT Background: Caregivers have pivotal roles in the treatment process of people with schizophrenia. However, providing long-term care increase the risk of caregivers’ anxiety that will hamper the healing process of people with schizophrenia. Family psychoeducation is one of the interventions that is expected to reduce anxiety among those caregivers. Objective: This study aimed to prove the effect of family psychoeducation on reducing anxiety among people with schizophrenia caregivers. Methods: This quasi-experimental study with the pre-post design was conducted in the working area of Sedayu 2 Public Health Center. An Amount of 28 caregivers of people with schizophrenia were recruited from the population by using the purposive sampling technique. Participants were given family psychoeducation therapy for a month. Zung Self-Rating Anxiety Scale was administrated to collect the data. To measure the effects of intervention, the paired t-test was performed. Results: Most of participants was female (53,6%), more than 66 years old (39,3%), and more than 15 years caring for people with schizophrenia (42.9%). Paired t-test analysis showed the significant effect of the intervention (p=0,006) with the coefficient t=2.957. Conclusion: Giving family psychoeducation is effective in reducing anxiety in caregivers of schizophrenic people. Keywords: caregiver, schizophrenia, family psychoeducation, anxiety

Family Psychoeducation Therapy to Improve Family's Ability to Care for Victims of Sexual Abuse


 Background: Sexual abuse is increasingly occurring but it is difficult to detect. Victims and their families usually do not want to reveal the sexual abuse clearly, complicates intervention efforts. The most incidents of sexual abuse occurred in children and adolescents, which is called child sexual abuse. Aim This study was conducted to analyze the effect of Family Psychoeducation (FPE) therapy on family’s ability to care for children who experienced sexual abuse (post sexual abuse) in the working area of Women's Crisis Center (WCC), Jombang Regency, East Java. Method: This study utilized pre-experimental design with one group pretest-posttest design; using one treatment group, with observations conducted to the group before and after treatment. The population in this study were all families with children who experienced sexual abuse with a total of 133 respondents. By using simple random sampling technique, 100 samples were obtained. The measuring instrument used was a questionnaire on both variables. Data processing was carried out by editing, coding, scoring, and tabulating, while data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test. Results: Results obtained p value = 0.000 (<0.005), indicating that H1 was accepted. It means that there was an effect of Family Psychoeducation (FPE) therapy on the family's ability to care for children who experienced sexual abuse (post sexual abuse) in the working area of Women's Crisis Center, Jombang Regency. Conclusion: This study concludes that the most common case of sexual abuse is sexual violence. The results show that there is an effect of family psychoeducation (FPE) therapy on the family’s ability to care for children who experienced sexual abuse (post sexual abuse).

Effect of Cognitive Therapy and Family Psychoeducation in Stroke Clients with Depression and Disability

Stroke patients who were take care in the hospital 30-40% in depression condition. This research aim was to determine the effect of cognitive therapy and psycho Education for depression, helplessness, and ability to change negative thoughts for stroke patients. This research design was quasi experimental pre and post test with control group with a total of sample 87 person with 29 persons are given cognitive therapy and family psychoeducation therapy, 29 persons are given only cognitive therapy and 29 persons are not given therapy. Analysis by anova test and Pair t-test. The result of research show a decrease in depression and helplessness condition and increase the ability to change negative thoughts of stroke clients whom received cognitive therapy and family psychoeducation group larger than whom just only receive cognitive therapy and the group without therapy (p value <0,05). There was factor that contribute depression condition of stroke client is age. Cognitive therapy and Family Psychoeducation are recommended for stroke klien who got depression and helpless to increases the ability to change negative thinking.

Family psychoeducation (FPE) therapy for family anxiety in caring for family members with mental disorders

Families experience various kinds of problems and problems in caring for family members whose families experience various obstacles in treating a patient with mental disorders. One condition that is felt is anxiety. Anxiety is related to ignorance regarding the patient's condition; earn a living; demands to divide time. The role of the family becomes very important because the patient lives in the middle of the family. Families need knowledge in managing patients both when treated at the hospital and when returning home. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of family psychoeducation (FPE) therapy on family anxiety in treating a patient with mental disorders. The design used a quasi-experiment with the pre-test and post-test with control group methods. The sample was 100 respondents (50 experimental groups and 50 control groups). The results of the study showed a significant effect of FPE on family anxiety with a p-value of 0.00 (p<0.05). It was concluded that FPE therapy effectively reduced family anxiety in treating a patient with mental disorders.

Introduction: Cancer is a group of diseases characterized by the uncontrolled growth and spread of abnormal cells that can lead to death. The physical impact caused by cancer will affect a person's psychological condition, causing psychosocial problems. Purpose: This study aims to determine the effect of cognitive therapy and family psychoeducation therapy on the anxiety level of cancer clients at the Regional General Hospital (RSUD) Dr. Hi. Abdul Moeloek, Lampung Province. Methods: This study used a quasi-experimental design with pre-post test control group with a total sample of 35 people for each group. The instrument used was hamilton anxiety rating scale (HARS). The analytical test used was repeated ANOVA test and independent t-test. Results: The results showed that cancer client anxiety decreased significantly (p value &lt;0.05) after receiving nurse nursing action, but after being given cognitive therapy and family psychoeducation therapy, it decreased significantly than after receiving nurse nursing action. Conclusion: The implication of this research is that cognitive therapy and family psychoeducation therapy reduce the anxiety level of cancer clients, so that the hospital can add interventions related to psychosocial problems, especially for cancer clients who experience anxiety at the Regional General Hospital (RSUD) Dr. Hi. Abdul Moeloek, Lampung Province.

Implementation of Family Psychoeducation Therapy to Additional Height in Stunting Children

Indonesia is currently still facing serious problems regarding stunting. The high prevalence of stunting in Indonesia is a chronic problem related to poverty, low education, and inadequate environmental and health services. Efforts made are improving the nutritional status of the community. The role of parents is very important in fulfilling children's nutrition. For this reason, treatment is needed through an approach to the family that can have an impact on behavior change within the family in carrying out family functions caring for family members with stunting, one of which is implementing family psychoeducation therapy. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of family psychoeducation therapy on height gain in stunting children. This study used a quasi experimental research method with a pretest-posttest design. The sampling technique used purposive sampling of 34 respondents consisting of 2 groups, namely 17 respondents in the intervention group and 17 respondents in the control group. Assessment using instruments from the WHO-NCHS Standard deviation Z-Score TB / U. The data analysis used was the dependent sample t 2 test and independent sample t 2 test for bivariate. The results showed that there was an effect of family psychoeducation therapy on height gain and there was a significant difference in the average height increase in stunting children between the intervention group and the control group.

Application of Family Psychoeducation to Client Psychosocial Disorder Anxiety and Body Image Due

Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disease that is becoming poses a threat to global health and requires special attention. The prevalence of Diabetes mellitus has increased significantly throughout the world in the last 10 years. Indonesia ranks sixth among people with diabetes worldwide. Anxiety and body image are of the psychosocial effects given from Diabetes mellitus. Anxiety and body image can affect the client’s diet, causing changes in nutrition. Through case report by providing family psychoeducation therapy in the form of stress management that can reduce and even overcome anxiety and body image is very useful for clients and families to reduce the risk of body image for clients who experience nutritional imbalances and family body image that treats clients with Diabetes mellitus. This study aims help to overcome anxiety and body image disorders in diabetes mellitus clients so that diabetes mellitus clients have a good appetite. In addition, families are also able to cope with stress in treating diabetes mellitus clients. Research using case studies shows that clients already have a good appetite, anxiety and impaired body image can be lowered and the family is able to cope with stress and able to treat clients with diabetes mellitus. Family psychoeducation therapy is very useful in reducing the level of anxiety and disruption of the body image of a diabetes mellitus client in supporting the client’s diet and being able to deal with family stress in caring for a diabetes mellitus client.

Family Psychoeducation in Reducing the Occurrence of Depression in Elderly: A Systematic Review

Depression is a chronic prevalence and recurrence disturbance. Depression in the elderly characterized by sadness, low interested in doing activity, and inability to feel happiness. But most families ignore it because they think it is a common problem in the elderly. Family psychoeducation therapy is one of the elements of family mental health care programs by providing information, education through therapeutic communication to reduce the scale of depression in the elderly. This systematic review aimed to determine family psychoeducation in reducing the occurrence of depression in the elderly.This systematic review begins with a question in advance and specify the destination, then search for the exact keyword searching to identify the data required in accordance with the purpose of the method of "AND" and "OR". After getting data from the searching results from 2005 to 2019 using proquest international databases, PubMed, science direct, and then proceed with the selection of DOAJ PRISMA flow diagram and criticism JBI tool to obtain the relevant article 23 to be analyzed into a systematic review. Family psychoeducation can improve cognitive abilities because in therapy contains elements that can improve family knowledge about the disease, teach techniques that can help families to know the symptoms of deviant behavior, as well as increased support for the family members themselves. This therapy can also reduce the scale of depression in the elderly. Family psychoeducation therapy can improve cognitive and psychomotor abilities significantly. Thus it can be used to improve the elderly and families coping itself. This therapy is not only used for people with schizophrenia, but also the patient's psychosocial, including depression in the elderly.

This study aims to determine the effect of psychoeducation therapy on increasing self-efficacy in families with pulmonary TB disease at Kertha Usada General Hospital. Method: The research design used quasi-experimental with pre-post test with control group design. Results: The results showed the mean (mean) pre-test in the treatment group was 20.56 and in the control group was 21.04. The mean post-test mean in the treatment group was 31.51 and in the control group, the results were 30.57. Parametric test results using the Paired Sample T-test obtained p-value = (0,000) &lt;α (0.05). Conclusion, there is an effect of psychoeducation therapy on increasing self-efficacy in families with Pulmonary of TB in Kertha Usada General Hospital.&#x0D; &#x0D; Keywords: Self-Efficacy, Family Psychoeducation Therapy, Tuberculosis

Reduction of family stress level through therapy of psychoeducation of skizofrenia paranoid family

This study aims to determine the effect of paranoid schizophrenia family psychoeducation therapy on family stress levels in treating paranoid schizophrenia patients. It was a quantitative research with quasi experimental methods with Pre-post test with control group. The stress questionnaire was taken from the Depression Anxiety Stress Scale 42 was used in data collection after it was tested for validity (r-count between 0.372 and 0.792) and reliability (Cronbach alpha 0.91). The intervention of this study was in the form of family psychoeducation therapy given to the families of paranoid schizophrenia patients. The study was conducted at the Dr. Amino Gondhohutomo, Central Java province in August 2015-March 2016. The number of samples was 84 people consisting of 42 people in the control group, 42 intervention groups. The sampling technique uses purpose sampling until the number of samples is met. Data were bivariate analysis using the Wilcoxon test, Mann-Whitney test. The results showed there was an effect of schizophrenia family psychoeducation therapy on family stress levels in treating schizophrenia patients (p value=0.001). An atmosphere of minimal friction and reduced stress conditions will make family health tasks work well in patient care.

Family Psychoeducation Therapy Increases Self-Esteem of Adolescent Prisoners

ABSTRACTIllicit substance use has been becoming the major global issue. In Indonesia, inmates imprisonedfor illicit substance offences accounted for 40 percent of the total inmates. This study aimed toidentify the effects of family psychoeducational therapies on inmates’ self esteem in the narcoticscorrectional facility. Quasi-experimental pre-post test with control group was employed in thisstudy. Intervention group 1 received general nursing intervention whereas intervention group 2received family psychoeducational therapies. This study involved 31 inmates for each group. Datawere collected using Rosenberg Self Esteem Scale (RSES), and were analysed using repeatedANOVA dan independent t-tests. The study demonstrated that self esteem was significantly upperamongst those who received the combination of those two therapies compared to those whoreceived general nursing intervention standalone (p &lt; 0.05). This study suggested theimplementation of both general nursing intervention and specialistic therapies, particularly familypsychoeducational therapies to address the anxiety problems experienced by adolescent inmatessuffering from illicit substance dependences.Keywords: Adolescent inmates, self esteem, family psychoeducational therapy

History of violence performed by family on people with mental illness following hospitalization

Violence experienced by people with mental illness may result in serious psychological effect. The impact may cause relapse among them which raises the case prevalence. This study aimed to identify the description of the history of violence performed by family on people with mental illness following hospitalization. The study design was qualitative with a descriptive phenomenological approach. The result identified six themes, which included family's knowledge deficiency as the cause of violence experienced by people with mental illness, main caregiver as perpetrator of violence on people with mental illness, physical abuse as the common type of violence experienced by people with mental illness, helplessness as the impact of violence, distraction as coping mechanism, and expectation of people with mental illness to be relieved from violence. The study result suggested that all psychiatric nurses provide cognitive therapy for the victim of abuse and family psycho-education therapy for the abuser to prevent the recurring of abuse on people with mental illness.

Managing family burden through combined family psychoeducation and care decision without pasung therapies

This research aimed to measure the effects of providing family psychoeducation (FPE) therapy and care decisions without pasung (CDWP) to families of mentally ill patients. This research used quasi-experimental pretest-posttest design with a control group consisting of 72 families divided into two groups using the purposive sampling technique. The intervention groups were given FPE and CDWP. The measurements were conducted three times using the Zarit Burden Interview. The study demonstrated that family burden was significantly lower among those who received the combination of the two therapies compared to only family psychoeducation (p<0.05). Those therapies decreased the family burden into the low category. The combination of these therapies provides an effective method for overcoming the burden on families who are treating family members with mental illness.

The Impact of Family Psycho-education Therapy on Family Burden in Caring for Older Adult with Dementiain Bogor

Dementia is a prevalent health problem and major cause of disability and dependency among older adults (WHO, 2012). Family, as primary support system, should be able to provide care for older adult with dementia. In provision of care, family may deal with problems which perceived as either physical or psychological problems. Family psycho-education is one of specialist nursing interventions provided for family in caring for older adult with dementia (Tang et al, Varcarolis 2014). This study aimed to identify impact of family psycho-education therapy on family burden in caring for older adult with dementia. The study design wasquasi experiment pre and post test with control group. The study population was family who provided care for older adult with dementia. Study sample consisted of 26 families of intervention group and 26 families of control group, whom selected through purposive sampling method. The intervention was conducted in 5 sessions by providing module and logbook to the families. Questionnaire of Zarit Caregiver Burden Interview was employed for data collection and independent t-test was applied to analyze the data with statistical significance of 0,000. The result indicated a significant difference in family caregiving burden between the intervention and control group following the intervention. Family psycho-education therapymay relieve family burden in caring for older adult with dementia. Psychiatric nurse specialist is encouraged to implement family psycho-education therapy which may affect family’s competency in providing care for older adult with dementia.

Prevensi Perilaku Bullying Pada Siswa Sekolah Dasar Melalui Social Skill Training Dan Family Psycoeducation di Kota Padang

Bullying seems to have become an integral part of the lives of children today. The high incidence of bullying behavior in primary school-aged children in the family, school, and surrounding environment indicates the need for immediate interventions to address the problem of school-aged children. Some efforts should be made in the form of prevention, treatment and rehabilitations for victims of bullying behavior. One form of intervention that can be developed as an effort to prevent bullying behavior in school-aged children is Social Skill Training and Family Psycho education therapy. Through Social Skill Training and Family Psychoeducation can improve cognitive, psychomotor and affective school-aged children to prevent bullying behavior. Social Skill Training and Family Psycho education can be developed as a model in the prevention of Bullying behavior in school-aged children.

THE EFFECT OF FAMILY PSYCHOEDUCATION THERAPY FOR THE FAMILY ABILITY IN TAKING CARE PATIENTS WITH SCHIZOPHRENIA

Introduction. Schizophrenia is the major cause of dissability in the most productive ages. It affects economic and social family condition so that the family ability needs increasing in taking care of patients with schizophrenia at home to decrease family’s burden. The family ability to take care of family member can be trained by family psychoeducation therapy. The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of family psychoeducation therapy for the family ability in taking care patients with schizophrenia. Method. The research design used quasy experiment method with pre post test without control group design by using family psychoeducation therapy intervention. The research was conducted in Aceh government mental hospital with 18 samples. Intervention was implemented through five sessions of family psychoeducation to indentify the difference the family ability in taking care of patients with schizofrenia before and after the intervention. Result. The result of statistics test which used Wilcoxon’s matched pairs test showed there is no differences significant ability between pre and post intervention (p&gt;0,05) although there is increase the number of respondents which have better psychomotor and cognitive ability after the intervention. Discussion. Assessment psychomotor ability would be better if it is supported by the observation process psychomotor training in directly care by providing the knowledge and practice of structured and consistent with family psychoeducation module.
