This paper presents evidence indicating that Lymnaea truncatula is not the only possible vector of Fasciola hepatica in Belgium. Attempts to infect other members of the family Lymnaeidae were partially succesful. Lymnaea stagnalis (20% infected) and especially Lymnaea palustris (50% infected) were susceptible to infection with F. hepatica under the test conditions. Since free emergence of cercariae was not obtained, further studies have to be done. There is no preference of the miracidium for L. truncatula. The size of the experienced snails appeared to be influenced by the infection. Infected animals with more than 4 whorls never were recovered, with the exception of L. truncatula.
