Agent-Based Distributed Data Analysis in Industrial Cyber-Physical Systems

Cyber-Physical System (CPS) is a key concept in the fourth industrial revolution, acting as the backbone infrastructure to develop Industry 4.0 compliant solutions based on decentralized networks of cyber-physical entities. In such systems, the distribution of intelligence and data analytics capabilities by different computational layers assumes a crucial relevance to support monitoring, diagnosis, prediction, and optimization tasks. Multiagent Systems (MAS) is a suitable approach to support this distribution through vertical and horizontal dimensions. In this context, this article introduces a modular agent-based architecture to balance the distribution of data analysis capabilities in industrial CPS. The proposed MAS solution was implemented in an industrial automotive factory plant, which applicability, novelty, and benefits were recognized, e.g., through its inclusion in the Innovation Radar of the Great EU-funded Innovations due to its contribution for the implementation of Zero Defects Manufacturing strategies in multistage production systems.

EFFECT OF SCOURER SCREEN PATTERNS ON THE WHEAT HUSK REMOVAL EFFICIENCY

The scourer machines remove wheat husk contaminated with pesticides and other impurities that adversely affect product quality and shelf life. For this purpose, at least one scourer machine is used in each industrial grain flour factory, depending on the capacity. The efficiency of these machines is highly dependent on the surface texture and scourer screen patterns. In this study, the efficiency of the wheat scourer machines with various wall patterns and meshes was investigated experimentally. The investigation employed six distinct types of scourer screens. Type-4 has produced the best results in fractured grain rate, whereas Type-2 has produced the best in ash content. It was revealed that wheat’s scouring efficiency and physical and chemical properties vary depending on the scourer screen pattern.

Review of the Application Status and Development Trend of Industrial Robots

With the progress of industrial civilization and the development of artificial intelligence technology, industrial robots are gradually approaching production workshop, and their status is improving day by day. This article will describe the current development status of emerging industrial robots and share their future development trends, aiming to provide a theoretical basis for industrial robot design departments and factories. Nowadays, industrial robots are developing rapidly in various countries, and have entered many emerging industries, such as aerospace, military and medical fields. The development trend of industrial robots in the future should mainly focus on five development directions: human-robot collaboration, artificial intelligence, new industrial users, digitization, and smaller and lighter robots.

Environmental resilience and physical structure of Bazian City

The ability of an organism or system to restore form and position elastically following a disturbance or interruption of any type is the true meaning of resilience. How often does the term “resilience” appear in regional or metropolitan contexts to allude to a local socio-economic system’s ability to rebound from a shock or disruption? Resilience can be characterized in a variety of ways. Another term is buffer capacity, which refers to a system’s ability to absorb disturbances and the quantity of disturbance before the system’s structure is altered by modifying the variables and processes that influence behavior. The study concludes that industrial activities affect the city in general and the city’s environment in particular through the pollutants caused by these activities. In order to develop planning solutions to address any change in the city under the concept of environmental resilience, the researchers paid attention to this aspect, which provides treatments, solutions, and suggestions in order to preserve the city from crises and Industrial activities that negatively affect the environment of the city, that the city of Bazian contains industrial factories for the manufacture of cement and bricks because it is rich in raw materials. Of the importance of industrial activities that contribute to the production of an economic resource for the region, but there are deficiencies in the ecological systems that maintain the direct impact of these industries on the environment, the insufficiency of regulations and legislation within the framework of industrial determinants.

Characterizing lifetime estimation of fusing lamps in Multi-Jet Fusion 3D Printers

Consumables life in general, and fusing lamp life in particular, is an important factor in determining Total Cost of Ownership (TOC) for multi-jet fusion 3D printing customers and thus impacting customers’ perception of device quality and reliability. It is also a factor in warranty cost. Knowing the risk of failure before running a production operation can help save production costs and result in planned maintenance. Towards that, in this paper, the authors present an analysis of the lifespan of fusing lamps and discuss important limiting factors to further use in predictive maintenance applications. The paper presents the relevance of estimating lifetime in an industrial factory setting with a real case study. It provides a short intuitive background of survival analysis methodologies and equips the user with a practical understanding of concepts such as censoring, and parametric and non-parametric approaches to compute survival probabilities. An application from the multi-jet fusion 3D printing has been taken to explain the end-to-end concept in a real-life scenario. The paper also attempts to discuss how to interpret the parameter-estimates in the Weibull distribution model applied to the case of fusing lamps, and thereby in predictive maintenance.

The article analyzes documents from the fonds of the State Archive of the Mari El Republic (GARME) and considers the circumstances of the State Optical Institute (GOI) under the People’s Commissariat of Armament of the USSR evacuated to the city of Yoshkar-Ola of the Mari ASSR in the days of the Great Patriotic War. The authors study materials from the fonds of departments for economic arrangement of evacuated population under the Council of People's Commissars of the Mari ASSR and the Executive Committee of the Yoshkar-Ola City Council of Workers’ Deputies of the Mari ASSR; those of the M. Gorky Volga State Forestry Institute; the Ministry for Higher and Specialized Secondary Education of the RSFSR; the Directorate for Vocational and Technical Education under the Council of Ministers of the Mari ASSR; the Mari Republican and Yoshkar-Ola City Committees of the Communist Party of the RSFSR; the Council of Ministers of the Mari ASSR. They focus on the working conditions in the institute and its structural divisions, trends of scientific research, provision of its employees. On July 11, 1941, the State Defense Committee of the USSR issued a decree “On the Evacuation of Industrial Enterprises,” according to which the GOI was transferred from Leningrad to Yoshkar-Ola. The institute’s output was scientific work in the field of optics, both theoretical and applied, calculation of optical systems, design of optical devices and their prototypes, as well as research of new types of optical glass and its technology. In the years of the GOI’s evacuation to Yoshkar-Ola (1941 to 1945), more than 70 types of optical devices were invented. The Institute performed scientific and technical management of the optical industry factories work, covered defense requests, including supervising the production activities of one of the optical industry enterprises evacuated to Yoshkar-Ola, factory no. 297 of the People’s Commissariat of Armament (now a leading enterprise of the Mari El Republic, Mari Machine-Building Factory). The best work of the GOI scientists was awarded state awards, and even Stalin Prize. The complex of archival documents from the fonds of the State Military Academy of Economics, which has been introduced into scientific use, reflects the role of the party and state bodies of the Mari ASSR in organizing reception and accommodation of and assistance to scientists, engineers, designers, qualified workers of the State Optical Institute under the People's Commissariat of Armament in pilot production of new weapons samples for the Red Army, which was of particular importance in the wartime.

인류세적 관점에서 본 일본 메타볼리즘 건축 운동과 그 유산

Laboratories - whether they exist in the form of castles, university buildings, industrial factories, or cross-national structures, have attracted much attention from historians as the site of knowledge production and its material culture. What, then, can we read from architecture beyond the laboratory spaces? This paper examines how the biological concept of metabolism was adopted by a group of young Japanese architects in the 1960s, who proposed the design of a flexible and changeable building in response to the fear and anxiety as well as technological optimism and utopian rhetoric in post-World War II Japan. This paper shows that this Metabolist movement provides an insight into how to survive apocalypse and regenerate the city whilst embracing mass destruction and existential anxiety. Recently, after the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake that led to the Fukushima disaster, the ideas of metabolism have surfaced with renewed urgency in the language of resilience. This paper argues that, from survival architecture promoted by the Metabolists and their followers in decades later, we can see the cultural adoption of scientific concepts in coping with existential disasters - man-made or natural - especially in the era that is now called the Anthropocene.

Performance Evaluation of a Full-Scale Fused Magnesia Furnace for MgO Production Based on Energy and Exergy Analysis

A three-electrode alternating current fused magnesia furnace (AFMF) with advanced control technology was evaluated by combined energy and exergy analysis. To gain insight into the mass flow, energy flow and exergy efficiency of the present fused magnesia furnace, the exergy destruction was analysed to study the energy irreversibility of the furnace. Two different production processes, the magnesite ore smelting process (MOP) and light-calcined magnesia process (LMP), are discussed separately. Two methods were carried out to improve LMP and MOP; one of which has been applied in factories. The equipment consists of an electric power supply system, a light-calcined system and a three-electrode fused magnesia furnace. All parameters were tested or calculated based on the data investigated in industrial factories. The calculation results showed that for LMP and MOP, the mass transport efficiencies were 16.6% and 38.3%, the energy efficiencies were 62.2% and 65.5%, and the exergy destructions were 70.5% and 48.4%, respectively. Additionally, the energy efficiency and exergy efficiency of the preparation process of LMP were 39.4% and 35.6%, respectively. After the production system was improved, the mass transport efficiency, energy efficiency and exergy destruction were determined.

Investigation of Environmental and Biological Effects of Rare Earth Elements (REEs) with a Special Focus on Industrial and Mining Pollutions in Iran: A Review

The present article is a review study on the types of rare earth elements (REEs), environmental and biological effects as well as the sources of emission of these elements as pollution in nature. The purpose of this study is to provide a vision in environmental planning and control of pollution caused by REEs. The evaluation of rare earth elements was studied in human life and its environmental and biological effects, which have particular importance and are entering the life cycle through industrial and mining pollution sources. Since mining activities intensify the dispersion of these elements in the environment and the existence of industrial factories located around urban drainage system plays a unique role in creating and spreading pollution caused by rare earth elements; As a result, two case studies were conducted on two mining and industrial areas. The first case is the Choghart mine in Yazd province as an example of mining pollution,and the second case study is performed on the Kor river as an example of industrial pollution which is caused by industrial activities around it, Then the results are well explained to show both two environments of litho and hydro. Due to this fact that produced environmental pollution can cause exchange pollutant compounds with the surrounding environment besides its long-lasting destructive effects; It can cause irreversible biological effects on living organisms. By targeting this evaluation, several techniques can be proposed to prevent the entry and dispersal of rare earth elements from pollution sources besides methods to reduce the damage of these elements to the ecosystem.

The application of Factor Analysis (FA) in evaluating suppliers selection criteria in PT. Wijaya Karya Beton Tbk Indonesia and ranking suppliers using Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solutions (TOPSIS)

The largest factories of the cocrete iron industry in Indonesia is PT. Wijaya Karya Beton Tbk. The company is faced with supplier selection problem. Each supplier has its own advantages and disadvantages, making it difficult for the company to choose the right supplier. There are many criteria that can be used in supplier selection. Based on previous research, all of the criteria are selected using factor analysis, to determine suitable criteria in the cocrete iron industry in Indonesia. Then after obtaining the criteria used, the supplier assessment is carried out using Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solutions (TOPSIS). The results showed that the use of factor analysis and TOPSIS methods can be used to select the right suppliers for the cocrete iron industry in Indonesia. Then there are 13 sub-criteria that are considered in selecting the right supplier at PT Wijaya Karya Beton Tbk. These sub-criteria are divided into four criteria. Azuma Co., Ltd. selected for the first best supplier and Mastex Inc. was ranked second.

Isolation of Cellulose-Degrading Bacteria from Luwu Timur in Oil Palm Empty Fruits Bunch

The oil palm empty fruit bunch (OPEFB) is one of the solid wastes produced by industrial factories. These bunches are the habitat of cellulolytic bacteria. This study aims to identify the morphology and determine the potential microorganisms in degrading oil palm empty fruit bunches waste. The methods used in this study were isolation and observation of bacterial morphology, bacterial screening, degradation test of empty oil palm fruit bunches waste, and enzyme activity test with DNS method using UV-Vis spectrophotometer at a wavelength of 530 nm. A collection of 14 isolates were obtained from the isolation process. We obtained 14 isolates from the sample, the largest clear zone was shown by isolate S10. The isolate also exhibited the highest cellulose-degrading activity after 7 days incubation period with a degrading percentage of 13.27%. After incubation for 2 days, the morphological characteristics of the bacteria produced have circular and medium-sized colonies, yellow, colonies wave edges and flat colonies, elevation convex and smooth surface. The resulting enzyme activity was 0.1308 U/mL. Therefore, isolate S10 was suspected to have the potential to degrade plastic.

Restoring Relationships, Healing Trauma, and Creating Securely Attached Classrooms

Our current educational system is modeled after the mass production of industrial factories, characterized by individualism, standardization, and competition. The industrial model, while efficient, largely disregards that learning is an interpersonal process. Social connection and emotional attunement activate our neurobiology for learning, while anxiety, isolation and stress inhibit those same processes. This is because our brains evolved to learn in the context of kinship groups often called tribes. This paper offers scientific support for creating classroom cultures of social cohesion which optimize students’ social, emotional and cognitive development. We will also present practical applications for teachers that can be used to create tribal classroom environments within the parameters of a modern standardized curriculum.

Smart monitoring of a full-scale composite hydrofoil manufactured using automated fibre placement under high cycle fatigue

Fibre reinforced composites materials offer a pathway to produce passive shape adaptive smart marine propellers, which have improved performance characteristics over traditional metallic alloys. Automated fibre placement (AFP) technology can provide a leap forward in cyber-physical automated manufacturing, which is essential for the implementation and operation of smart factories in the marine propeller industry towards Industry 4.0 readiness. In this paper, a comprehensive structural health monitoring routine was performed on an AFP full-scale composite hydrofoil to gain confidence in its dynamic and structural performances through a number of active and passive sensors. The hydrofoil was subjected to constant amplitude flexural fatigue loading in a purpose-built test rig for 105 cycles. The hydrofoil was embedded with distributed optical fibre sensors, traditional electrical strain gauges and linear variable displacement transducers. Both microelectromechanical system and piezoelectric accelerometers were used to conduct experimental modal analyses to observe changes in the modal response of the hydrofoil at regular intervals throughout the fatigue program. The hydrofoils modal response, as well as the stiffness measured using both displacements and strains, remained unchanged over the fatigue loading regime demonstrating the structural integrity of the hydrofoil. The optical fibre sensors endured the fatigue test cycles showing their robustness under fatigue loads. Furthermore, the sensing systems demonstrated the potential of being utilised as a useful maintenance tool combining their adaptability with automated manufacturing during manufacturing through integration within the hydrofoil, a structural test framework for performance measurement, data acquisition and analytics for visualisation, and the prospect of decision making for maintenance requirement during any onset in structural performance.

Fit-for-purpose risks in conformity assessment of a substance or material – A case study of synthetic air

A technique is described for evaluation of the fit-for-purpose risks in conformity assessment of the chemical composition of a substance or material, based on a multivariate Bayesian approach. The approach takes into account measurement uncertainty, correlation and the mass balance constraint. Two datasets related to synthetic air (provided as electronic supplementary material to this paper) were studied. The first dataset was from an industrial factory producing routinely medicinal synthetic air according to the European Pharmacopoeia. The second dataset was from the National Metrology Institutes which participated in key comparison CCQM-K120 “Carbon dioxide at background and urban level”. The fitness for purpose of the preparation of synthetic air was interpreted as total risks of false decisions on the conformity of the air composition to the tolerance limits of the contents of its main components. Calculations of these risks were performed with code written in the R programming environment.

Correlation analysis of Land Surface Temperature (LST) measurement using DJI Mavic Enterprise Dual Thermal and Landsat 8 Satellite Imagery (case study: Surabaya City)

Landsat 8 Satellite Imagery (Landsat Data Continuity Mission, LDCM) is a satellite product made by Orbital Science Corporation, which launched with The Operational Land Imager (OLI) and Thermal Infrared Sensor (TIRS) instruments as the latest features. One of the Thermal Infrared Sensor (TIRS) instruments is called Band 10, that provide temperature information on the earth’s surface. As many research conduct the temperature comparison between satellite imagery analysis and land cover temperature has been come with positive correlation for both of the variable. As to prove the temperature relationship, it is necessary to validate the actual temperature values on the earth’s surface by conduct the temperature survey in the area using the temperature measurement tools. One of the tools is DJI Mavic Enterprise Dual Thermal camera as the camera that capable to take samples data of particular objects categories that included urban areas, waters, vegetation, open land, settlements, and industrial factories. Using the satellite imagery’s temperature data and the land cover temperature data survey, comparing and accuration assessment are needed to see how close the value of both variable. The data processing carried out that both of the data have a positive correlation as the relationship, which have a Pearson correlation value of 0.892 and sig. (2-tailed) at the number 0.000000068. This correlation value showed that the relationship between both data is acceptable as the both data can represent each other to conduct any research. However, as the satellite imagery contains 29,85% of cloud cover, the temperature obtained lower in the Landsat 8 satellite image rather than the actual temperature on the earth’s surface.

Impact of Lockdown on Air Quality in India

The Covid-19 crisis has forced activity freezes, Lockdowns and calls to shelter-in-place have closed schools and non -essential businesses. Minimal activities from industrial sites, factories and construction sectors have minimized the risks for toxins to escape, in turn improving air quality. People are forced to stay at home practicing social distancing and working remotely. It is all aimed at controlling the spread of Covid-19 and hopefully reducing the death toll. But all this change has also led to some unexpected consequences. One among them is pollution levels and the natural environment. Before the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, the air around us had been deemed very toxic to breathe in due to the number of greenhouse gases that had been emitted over the centuries. But after the coronavirus lockdown commenced, there were slight changes in the environment. In the above context, a study should be undertaken to analyze the air quality indicators during non-lockdown period and the lockdown period is inevitable and essential. In this regard, the researcher wants to analyze the air quality of Chennai City by comparing the air quality indicators values like P.M.2.5, NO2, SO2, CO for the year 2019 with 2020 (same period). Accordingly, the researcher has collected data information and analysed it with the help of regression analysis and trend lines. The results revealed that during the lockdown period, everything was shut down and it would decrease the values of the above said air quality indicators, especially the concentration of P.M.2.5 because it is the major factor contributing to air pollution. It was proved by many earlier studies and this study also proved the same. The data set revealed that nearly 80 percent of the air pollution was due to the concentration of P.M.2.5 and its concentration was lowered during the lockdown period. Hence, to avoid air pollution, authorities should be taken steps to reduce P.M.2.5 concentration. It is good for the environment, the health of the living organism and the sustainable development of the economy.

Experiences and Analyses of Reconstruction and Commissioning of Medium Voltage Substation

Abstract The paper will present experiences in the reconstruction of the transformer station, which supplies the industrial factory. The previous version of the medium voltage (MV) substation with oil-filled transformers, and the new MV substation with dry and more energy efficient transformers, will be presented. An analysis of the operation and maintenance methods of oil transformers will be given. As oil transformers have many disadvantages, the reason, choice and cost-effectiveness of replacement with new dry transformers will be presented. Tests and measurements of insulation resistance of the winding and transformer protection during commissioning will also be presented. PT100 probes, which are connected to the thermostat, are installed in each low voltage winding of the dry transformer. Testing of this thermal protection of the transformer will be presented as well. Since transformers supply industrial consumers, mostly nonlinear ones, it is important to analyse the losses and life span of transformers. Nonlinear consumers lead to early aging of winding insulation, premature failures and reduction of transformer life. The newly designed and installed MV substation with Ring-main unit is ABB type SafePlus, and its installation and operating instructions will also be presented. The MV is equipped with a protection terminal, so settings and measurements of this terminal in transformer cells will be done. After the commissioning of the transformer station, the most important are diagnostics and periodic tests. Methods of periodic testing of MV substations will be presented in this paper.

Enhancement in Human Insulin Precursor Secretion by Pichia pastoris through Modification of Expression Conditions

Pichia pastoris is an alternative yeast expression system to produce heterologous proteins. It has excellent characteristics for an industrial cell factory, such as its ability to reach high cell densities, high secretory capacity, and a low level of native proteins. In our previous study, we introduced a synthetic insulin precursor (IP)-encoding gene constructed in a pD902 expression vector into P. pastoris. However, the P. pastoris recombinant strains expressed a little amount of IP protein. Here, we modified the expression conditions, including inoculum density, methanol concentration, methanol induction time, pH, and temperature, to obtain a higher amount of secreted IP than our previous result. Protein analysis for studying the five parameters was conducted by SDS-PAGE, and the protein amount was estimated by ImageJ applying lysozyme as standard. We successfully enhanced the IP expression by modifying expression conditions. The highest increased of up to 100 folds was achieved when methanol concentration for induction was arranged at 3% (v/v), and the initial cell density for methanol induction was set at an optical density at 600 nm (OD600) of approximately 10 compared to the standard procedure, where the expression was set at 0.5% (v/v) methanol induction and initial cell density at OD600 = 1.
