Diallyl disulfide, the bioactive component of Allium species, ameliorates pulmonary fibrosis by mediating the crosstalk of farnesoid X receptor and yes-associated protein 1 signaling pathway.

Environmental pollution, virus infection, allergens, and other factors may cause respiratory disease, which could be improved by dietary therapy. Allium species are common daily food seasoning and have high nutritional and medical value. Diallyl disulfide (DADS) is the major volatile oil compound of Allium species. The present study aims to explore the preventive effect and potential mechanism of DADS on pulmonary fibrosis. C57BL/6J mice were intratracheally injected with bleomycin (BLM) to establish pulmonary fibrosis and then administrated with DADS. Primary lung fibroblasts or A549 were stimulated with BLM, followed by DADS, farnesoid X receptor (FXR) agonist (GW4064), yes-associated protein 1 (YAP1) inhibitor (verteporfin), or silencing of FXR and YAP1. In BLM-stimulated mice, DADS significantly ameliorated histopathological changes and interleukin-1β levels in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid. DADS decreased fibrosis markers, HIF-1α, inflammatory cytokines, and epithelial-mesenchymal transition in pulmonary mice and activated fibroblasts. DADS significantly enhanced FXR expression and inhibited YAP1 activation, which functions as GW4064 and verteporfin. A deficiency of FXR or YAP1 could result in the increase of these two protein expressions, respectively. DADS ameliorated extracellular matrix deposition, hypoxia, epithelial-mesenchymal transition, and inflammation in FXR or YAP1 knockdown A549. Taken together, targeting the crosstalk of FXR and YAP1 might be the potential mechanism for DADS against pulmonary fibrosis. DADS can serve as a potential candidate or dietary nutraceutical supplement for the treatment of pulmonary fibrosis.

Integrated Assessment of Ecological Quality Combining Biological and Environmental Data in the Yellow River Estuary

The integrated assessment of ecological quality in estuarine ecosystems holds significant importance for environmental management. Previous monitoring programs predominantly focused on environmental data, lacking a comprehensive quality assessment approach. To address this gap, this study aimed to integrate environmental factors with macrofaunal community information to evaluate the ecological quality status of the Yellow River Estuary. A total of 13 stations were routinely monitored in August for four consecutive years to collect environmental and biological data. Candidate indicators were screened based on variation coefficients, distribution ranges, and redundancy analysis, identifying 16 indicators belonging to three categories (i.e., seawater, sediment, and biology). The model fit and the interrelationship of the components were determined using structural equation modelling (SEM). The main results were as follows. (1) A total of 144 macrofaunal taxa, belonging to eight animal phyla and 98 families, were identified, with a dominance of Annelida (37.8%) and Mollusca (33.3%). The environmental variables most strongly correlated with the macrofaunal community were TOC, DO, Cd, and Md. (2) NO2 and heavy metals represented the two most direct factors of environmental pollution, while the factor load of biodiversity indices (H’, J, and D) was large in the biology category. (3) The evaluation results indicated that 78.85% of the total samples were between the average and upper levels of ecological quality, but only 7.69% of samples were at the “high” level. The framework system for the evaluation of ecological quality constructed in this study provides a theoretical and practical basis for the evaluation of the effectiveness of conservation management of the Yellow River Estuary.

Lost years of life due to the mortality from diseases of the urinary system in the industrial region of Kazakhstan with air pollution

Introduction. The relevance of the epidemiological problems of loss of years due to diseases of the kidney and urinary tract is due to the progressive gain in the number of patients in many regions and countries of the World. 
 Purpose. Estimation of years of life lost due to the mortality from diseases of the urinary system (DUS) in the Pavlodar region, which is one of the industrial regions of Kazakhstan. 
 Materials and methods. Medical-demographic (mortality rates) and medical-statistical (primary morbidity rates) data was obtained from the Department of Statistics of the Republican Center for Electronic Health Care of the Republic of Kazakhstan (RCEHC RK). The study period was eight years (from 2015 to 2022). The Years of Life Lost (YLL) indicator was calculated according to methodological recommendations. An assessment of the relationships between population health indicators for pathologies of the urinary system (US) with social factors (gross domestic product per capita – GDP), and environmental indicators (ecological and meteorological) as possible causes of adverse events in human health was carried out using correlation and time series analysis.
 Results. In the structure of years of life lost due to the mortality from US organs, chronic renal failure (CRF, 55.96–65.85%) led. In the regional center of Pavlodar, there was a peak in years lost in mortality from DUS over 2021 (3.3‰ YLLs), during the COVID-19 pandemic. According to the average annual losses by age groups, in the Pavlodar region, the maximum losses were detected in the elderly (10.5‰ YLLs) and senile (15.8‰ YLLs) age. An excess of the maximum one-time concentrations of pollutants in the atmospheric air above the MPC level with the highest pollution level in 2018 was registered. Correlation analysis showed a high level of correlation between the loss of years of life because of the mortality due to US diseases with atmospheric air pollution in Ekibastuz (r = 0.80), weak – 
 in Pavlodar region (r = 0.28) and low – in Pavlodar (r = 0.13).
 Limitations. Of the environmental pollution factors, only atmospheric air pollution factors were studied, which does not reflect all the possible effects of environmental pollution on population health. In the group of reasons with code R, the conclusion “old age” prevailed, which may have led to an inaccurate analysis of the causes of death.
 Conclusion. Regional connections between the loss of years of life due to mortality due to US diseases with atmospheric air pollution and temperature in the winter season, as well as newly identified morbidity with atmospheric air pollution, have been identified.

Analysis of River Environmental Pollution Factors

The problem of polluted river water quality is part of current environmental problems. A lot of pollution is caused by industrial factory waste, household waste, and rubbish. This causes the condition of the river ecosystem to decline and hurts humans and the environment. Pollution that occurs in rivers is a result of human behavior which increasingly ignores the surrounding environment. The consequences of human behavior that is wrong in treating the river environment will ultimately become a disaster that is detrimental to humans themselves. This research aims to detect whether there is a correlation between knowledge and attitudes held by the community regarding behavior to protect the river environment. The hypothesis proposed in this study is: that behavior to maintain the health of the river environment is influenced by knowledge and attitude variables. The sample in this research was 300 students. The influence of knowledge on behavior has a significant relationship with a p-value of 0.00. The influence of attitudes on behavior has a significant relationship with a p-value of 0.00. There is positive behavior to protect river ecosystems and also environmental sustainability in rivers, but there are also students who behave indifferently towards the environment and tend to be indifferent.

Vehicle routing problem with time windows and carbon emissions: a case study in logistics distribution.

Logistics and transportation industry is not only a major energy consumer, but also a major carbon emitter. Developing green logistics is the only way for the sustainable development of the logistics industry. One of the main factors of environmental pollution is caused by carbon emissions in the process of vehicle transportation, and carbon emissions of vehicle transportation are closely related to routing, road conditions, vehicle speed, and speed fluctuations. The low-carbon vehicle routing problem with high granularity time-dependent speeds, speed fluctuations, road conditions, and time windows is proposed and formally described. In order to finely evaluate the effects of vehicle speed and speed fluctuations on carbon emissions, a graph convolutional network (GCN) is used to predict the high granularity time-dependent traffic speeds. To solve this complicated low-carbon vehicle routing problem, a hybrid genetic algorithm with adaptive variable neighborhood search is proposed to obtain vehicle routing with low carbon emissions. Finally, this method is validated using a case study with the logistics and traffic data in Jingzhou, China, and also the results show the effectiveness of this proposed method.

Wireless Sensor Networks for Green Cities: A Comprehensive Review of Environmental Pollution Monitoring

Leveraging various literature surveys on WSN and its applications with different techniques, a comprehensive analysis of the existing body of knowledge in the field. The paper explores the deployment of WSN technology as a cost-effective and scalable solution for real-time monitoring of pollution-related parameters, including air and water quality, noise levels, and other relevant environmental factors.By synthesizing insights from diverse literature sources, propose an intelligent and adaptable WSN framework capable of capturing, analyzing, and transmitting real-time environmental data. The research highlights the importance of integrating advanced sensor technologies within the WSN infrastructure to ensure a holistic monitoring of pollution factors. This analysis also delves into various data acquisition methodologies and explores the potential for advanced data analytics and visualization techniques to derive meaningful insights

Restructuring substantial increase in natural gas reserves by coalbed methane (CBM) recovery

Coal deposits, especially hard coal deposits, contain in their structure large amounts of methane, which during exploitation is diluted through industrial ventilation and degassing technologies down to non-hazardous concentrations, reducing the major risk factor for the safety of workers and resources minerals. The amount of methane released and exhausted into the atmosphere by the degassing and ventilation stations of the mining units, in addition to being wasted instead of being used, is also a factor of environmental pollution, as a potential greenhouse gas (GHG). The environmental issues and the climate crisis faced by humanity compel the establishment of an Action Program on the methane issue, which includes the capture, recovery and exploitation of gas from active coal mines, or from virgin strata, from unexploited mining fields, with the help of currently available technologies and practices, which represent the chance to obtain clean energy and substantial climate benefits, in the short and long term. The solution to the use of methane gas from coal at active mining operations in Jiu a Valley - Romania, by burning it to obtain the thermal agent, brought important economic benefits by reducing energy costs and environmental protection by reducing methane emissions in the atmosphere. The present paper proposes an analysis of the benefits obtained as well as the development possibilities of methane usage for obtaining a clean fuel.

Improvement of environmental sustainability of milk processing enterprises

Sewage from milk processing enterprises remains a factor of environmental pollution. This is caused by a high concentration of organic pollutants contained in a dispersed and dissolved state, among which protein predominates. An effective way to increase the environmental friendliness of dairy enterprises is to minimize emissions of pollutants. In particular, this applies to dairies, the main products of which are protein products - cheese and casein, and the main pollutant - whey. This could be achieved through complete processing of whey. The article considers the possibility of reducing the polluting effect of wastewater from milk processing enterprises by separating dispersed protein from milk whey. The results of the study of the content and granulometric composition of dispersed whey protein are presented. The design of the filter with a self-cleaning filter element developed by the authors is presented, which allows for a continuous process of serum purification with a consistently high degree of separation.

Abstract. The most acute issue is the disposal of solid household waste in the territory of Taraz. The city does not have a developed and modern infrastructure for their processing and disposal. Almost all waste produced at the zhasyl-El Taraz and Aldi and K landfills is placed in landfills without processing, most of which do not meet the sanitary, hygienic and environmental requirements for the placement, arrangement and operation of such specialized facilities. To solve environmental pollution, it is necessary to create a suitable waste management system. For the disposal of solid household waste, there are no garbage processing plants and unauthorized landfills.In this regard, in the near future, it is necessary to create a special technology for mass cleaning of urban and rural areas, as well as land along unauthorized landfills, fields. Currently, one of the main factors of environmental pollution is the increase in urban economic activity, which, in turn, provokes an environmental crisis. In Kazakhstan, the problem of solid household waste is very important, because only 8-9% of garbage is recycled, and the remaining 90% is stored in landfills, which causes enormous damage to the environment. And in other countries, more than half of the waste is recycled, and they also earn significant income in this area. Such an acute environmental situation in our country is complicated by the lack of environmental capacity and the lack of a legal and technological solution associated with waste management of the system. So far, the vast majority of solid waste landfills remain technologically and technically imperfect, unproductive, environmentally dangerous, inefficient and legally unsecured.The problem of Kazakhstan's landfills is associated with the burning of garbage. IMPACT OF HAZARDOUS TOXIC FACTORS OF FIRES DURING MILITARY ACTIONS ON ECOSYSTEMS AND POPULATION LIFE ACTIVITIES

It has been analysed that wildfires are the most influential factor in environmental pollution. The ecological consequences of wildfires consist primarily of atmospheric air pollution with carbon monoxide, products of combustion of combustible materials, and the burning of oxygen. Plant combustion also contributes significantly to planetary environmental changes: climate warming, ozone depletion, acid rain, chemical and radioactive pollution of the atmosphere, water, and soil. With wildfires, soot particles, that is, carbon and products of incomplete combustion of wood, enter the air. Smoke, which is formed during fires, explosions, ignitions, etc., during the combustion of plant biomass (grasses, leaves from trees and shrubs, mosses, lichens, peatlands, forest litter and needles), is an aerosol-gas mixture containing hazardous substances dangerous to the environment and humans. Biomass burning is a global source of gas and dust pollution of the atmosphere and is considered one of the determining factors of ecotoxicological risks for public health. The negative impact of fires from military actions on the human body is acute and delayed. Acute exposure leads to hypoxia due to carbon oxides, increased consumption of oxygen from the air during combustion, irritation of the respiratory tract, and difficulty breathing. Delayed exposure is due to toxic, mutagenic, and carcinogenic effects. The toxic impact of fires on the life and health of the population is not only a threat to life but also an adverse effect on human organisms of heavy compounds of chemical substances represented by the combustion products of plant biomass of forests, peatlands, vast agricultural lands, including crop rotations and pastures. Often, this impact occurs in combination with typical atmospheric air pollution: emissions from industrial enterprises and motor vehicles. The peculiarity of such a combination is the complex synergistic effects of chemical compounds and high air temperature with significant relative duration (decades, months) of emergency environmental situations. The common nase (Chondrostoma nasus) as an indicator of aquatic pollution and human health risk assessment associated with its consumption.

Individuals of common nase were sampled from three waterbodies (Kačer river, Zaovine, and Medjuvršje reservoirs) with different characteristics, types, and levels of anthropogenic pressure. The aims of this study were to determine the concentrations of 26 elements in gills, liver, and muscle using inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES); determine the concentrations of 17 organochlorine pesticides (OCPs) in muscle tissue using gas chromatography with mass spectrometric detection (GC-MS); compare these findings with fish condition (CF); and conduct human health risk and benefit assessments due to consumption of fish meat using target hazard quotient, target carcinogenic risk factor, Se:Hg molar ratio, Na:K and Ca:Mg ratios, and contribution of elements to human diet. Results indicated that in addition to the fact that the type of ecosystem (lentic vs. lotic) plays an important role in the fate and kinetics of pollutants, the degree of anthropogenic pressure is one of the most important factors of environmental pollution - Zaovine and Medjuvršje reservoirs (both lentic ecosystems) had the lowest and the highest levels of pollution, respectively. CF did not reflect the differences in accumulation of all analyzed elements in nase tissues. None of the 17 analyzed OCPs were detected due to the absence of recent use. Fish muscle was the least affected by metal pollution at all studied localities and could be safely used for consumption. We recorded several benefits for human health when using the nase meat in human diet.

Sustainable practices for the efficient use of green energy in Ciudad Juárez SMEs

Carbon emissions have been increasing due to economic growth and development. Fossil-based energy is one of the main factors of environmental pollution. In Mexico, 77.24% of fossil-based energy is from stationary source combustion, 15.7% from industry processes and commercial activities, 6.64% from mobile sources, and 0.05% from agriculture and livestock activities. Specifically, manufacturing operations use 33.4%, of the total consumption of electricity and natural gas. Because the production of green energy is from naturally regenerating sources and does not emit greenhouse gases or compounds, decreases the environmental impact, and because they are able to apply to manufacturing operations, it is pertinent the efforts in this sense. The article presents the PRISMA 2020 as a methodology for searching between distinct databases and current research with the objective of identifying variables and their measurements so micro, small, and mid-size enterprises in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico can develop collaboration strategies towards a sustainable manufacturing environment. The literature review resulted in the identification of six green energy indicators and their measurements.

Research progress on the correlation between environmental factors and childhood leukemia

Among the malignant diseases that pose a significant risk to children's health and wellbeing is leukemia. As the incidence, diagnosis rate, and mortality rate of leukemia continue to rise, researchers and academics have conducted in-depth investigations into the factors that contribute to the development of this disease in young people. Some of the causes of childhood leukemia can be traced back to the outside world. In this study, we will examine what has been learned so far about how external environmental pollution factors are linked to childhood leukemia.

Spatial–Temporal Evolution of Interprovincial Ecological Efficiency and Its Determinants in China: A Super-Efficiency SBM Model Approach

This study delves into the temporal–spatial variations and influencing factors of interprovincial ecological efficiency in China, aiming to provide vital guidance for sustainable development and ecological equilibrium. Employing the super-efficiency SBM model, we compute ecological efficiency indices for 31 Chinese provinces from 2005 to 2021. Furthermore, utilizing Geodetectors, we conduct an in-depth analysis of the impact of key dimensions—economic factors, efficiency elements, environmental governance, pollution determinants, input factors, and natural components—consisting of 30 specific indicators of ecological efficiency. The findings unveil several significant insights. Firstly, interprovincial ecological efficiency in China has experienced undulating declines since 2005. Additionally, notable spatial agglomeration exists, with economically developed regions demonstrating elevated ecological efficiency, while less-developed areas exhibit lower levels. Moreover, among the influencing factors, (1) economic aspects hold a dominant role, where optimizing industrial structure and enhancing resource utilization efficiency can partially alleviate environmental pressure; (2) efficiency elements exhibit a progressive enhancement trend; (3) the impacts of environmental governance and pollution factors manifest complex dynamics, necessitating continuous policy support and comprehensive remediation; (4) despite the relatively weaker influence of natural components, vigilance remains imperative due to intensifying climate change and natural disasters; and (5) while input factors exert limited effects on ecological efficiency, their significance in resource allocation and sustainable development persists.

Pengaruh Penambahan Limbah Serbuk Kaca dan Limbah Serbuk Kayu Terhadap Kuat Tekan dan Daya Serap Air Paving Block

<p><em>Garbage is one of the major factors in environmental pollution. When the waste management process is not proportionate to the amount of garbage generated, the impact of the accumulation of waste makes the pollution of waste more noticeable. Efforts undertaken in waste management, i.e. using glass waste and wood powder waste as sand subtitles on paving block manufacturing, are expected to reduce environmental pollution problems. The study aims to obtain the highest pressures strength values and the lowest water absorption on paving blocks with a variation of glass waste of 2.5%, 5%, 7,5%, 10%, 12,5% and wood powder of 10% as a subtitling of sand paving block mixed material. From the test results obtained the highest pressures strength value of the variation of mixture of glass powder 5% and wood powder 10% of 4.30 MPa. At the test results, the lowest water absorption was obtained from a variation of a mixture of 5% glass powder and 10% wood powder of 6.42%.</em></p>

Hydrochemical Characteristics and Formation Mechanism of Quaternary Groundwater in Baoshan Basin, Western Yunnan, China

The shallow groundwater of the quaternary system in the Baoshan basin, Yunnan Province is seriously polluted, threatening human health and restricting local socio-economic development; therefore, it is necessary to investigate the hydrochemical characteristics and formation mechanisms of the shallow groundwater of the quaternary system in the Baoshan basin. This study used EVS 2022 to establish a 3D visual geological model of the quaternary system in the basin and divided the shallow groundwater aquifers of the quaternary system into three groundwater systems, sampling 22, 9, and 4 groups in each groundwater system, respectively. Mathematical statistics, Piper’s trilinear diagram, Gibbs plots, the Gaillardet model, the ion ratio method, groundwater saturation, and the PCA-APCS-MLR model were used to analyze the groundwater hydrochemical characteristics and genesis of the study area. The results show the following: (1) The types of groundwater chemicals are mainly HCO3-Ca-Mg type and HCO3-Ca, the causes of the water chemical characteristics are mainly influenced by water–rock interaction and alternate cation adsorption, and the rock types with which the groundwater exchanges substances are carbonate rocks and silicate rocks. (2) The Fe2+, Mn2+, and NH3-N contents in groundwater systems I and II exceed the standard, which is the human activity area, and groundwater pollution is mainly affected by human activities. (3) Four main categories of factors were obtained according to the PCA-APCS-MLR model, namely dissolution filtration, migration and enrichment factors, geological and human activity factors, and environmental factors and pollution factors; the cumulative contribution of variance was 77.84%, and the groundwater chemical characteristics were jointly influenced by hydrogeological conditions and human activities. The results of this study provide a basis for groundwater protection and management in the Baoshan basin, where groundwater system I is the key area for pollution and should be strengthened for control.

Environmental Pollution and Climate Change: An Ethical Evaluation of the Carbon Tax Policy in South Africa

Environmental pollution and climate change have been considered the main environmental challenges affecting the world’s ecosystem, including that of South Africa. They cause poverty, land degradation, and health hazards. One of the leading causes and contributing factors of environmental pollution and climate change is carbon emissions into the atmosphere. As a way to curb these emissions, Carbon tax policy has been introduced in various countries, including South Africa. In 2019, a Carbon tax was introduced to assist South Africa in delivering on the commitments made in the Paris Agreement in 2015. If the policy is effectively applied, it will raise revenues while reducing carbon dioxide emissions. Before and after introducing the Carbon tax policy in South Africa, there has been debate and discussion on its impact on the environment, economy, and society. Based on the debate and discussion, it has been observed that more attention is paid to the economic implications and benefits of the tax on South Africa than the ethical implications. Thus, this paper aims to contribute to the ongoing debate and discussion by ethically evaluating the Carbon tax policy in South Africa.

European concept of ecologically balanced nature management in a market economy

The main task of the article is to establish the cause-and-effect links between the factors of environmental pollution and motivational mechanisms for ecologization of the economy in accordance with the concept of sustainable development. It is determined that the specificity of agricultural production is their close connection with the environment and its significant pollution with greenhouse gases and other harmful substances. It is established that the rate of global warming can be decreased by half by reducing the production of animal and plant products and increasing the use of renewable energy sources in the production sector. It is found that in the process of economic transformation, considerable attention should be paid to the need to reduce energy intensity, material intensity, ecologization of technological processes and improvement of product quality. In the realization of economic policy, the priority should be the use of environmental mechanisms for its regulation, and production should be concerned not only with satisfying the needs of consumers of products, but also with reducing the negative impact on ecosystems. The dynamics of total emissions into the atmosphere by households in a number of European countries is determined and the main reasons for such changes are indicated. A systematic analysis of the indicators that characterize the volume of fresh surface and groundwater intake per capita is carried out and the depth of the water crisis in the EU countries is determined. The article analyses the level of waste disposal and recommends the most effective waste management technologies, and studies the dynamics of changes in the area of protected forests in Europe to identify the tree species that are the best cleaners of the air. The size of compensatory contributions of countries under global climate commitments and indicators of total environmental transfers for environmental protection activities are researched. An integrated approach is used to determine the real impact of various types of economic activity of European countries on the environment. It is recommended to study and implement the experience of European market economies regarding the conceptual principles of balanced environmental management in Ukraine.

Photo-responsive Mn-doped TiO2-based superhydrophobic/ underwater superoleophobicity membrane for efficient oil-water separation and photothermal decontamination

In recent years, oily wastewater has become an important factor in environmental pollution. As a transition metal element, manganese is able to introduce new impurity band gaps using d-orbital hybridization to extend the photoresponse range of TiO2, thus enabling TiO2 to be self-cleaned under UV irradiation more easily. Therefore, we synthesized superhydrophobic/submerged superoleophobic Mn@TiO2-modified membranes which possess a self-cleaning property under UV light using manganese element-doped titanium dioxide and cotton fabric as the substrate by hydrothermal method and then investigated the relevance between the doping concentration of Mn and super-hydrophobicity. The results showed that water contact angles of prepared membranes with the Mn ions doping concentrations of 0.5 mol/L, 1.0 mol/L, and 1.5 mol/L were 147.89°, 150.43°, and 153.37°, respectively. The membrane with 1.5 mol/L was effective for the separation of the dichloromethane-water mixture. Under Xenon lamp irradiation, three membranes with different concentrations showed a significant temperature increase with the maximum rising to 53.1 ℃ within 2 min, reflecting an excellent photothermal conversion capability. In addition, the decontamination ability of the Mn@TiO2 membrane was tested under UV light. The Mn@TiO2 membrane was able to degrade the oil-red solution dripping on the surface, showing that the membrane had a good self-cleaning performance, which was significant for industrial applications.

Research on the influencing factors and multi-scale regulatory pathway of ecosystem health: A case study in the Middle Reaches of the Yellow River, China

It has become a hot issue in realizing regional sustainable development to discuss the influencing factors and regulatory pathway of ecosystem health. However, the lack of driving mechanisms and regulatory pathways for ecosystem health limit the development of effective environmental management policies and urban planning. In this study, taking the Middle Reaches of the Yellow River (MRYR) of China as the study area, we introduced spatial weight coefficient and modified coefficient of spatial proximity effect to improve the “Vigor–Organization-Resilience-Ecosystem services” (VORS) model, and adopted the improved VORS model to dynamically assess the ecosystem health level. Then, we provide an in-depth analysis of the mechanisms of climate and human activities affecting ecosystem health. Finally, the multi-scale regulation of ecosystem health was implemented. The results showed that topography, climate, population urbanization, economic urbanization, land urbanization, agricultural activities, environmental pollution, regional policies and other factors all have a significant impact on the ecosystem health, but the direction and extent of impact had obvious spatial heterogeneity. The negative impact of potential evapotranspiration on ecosystem health is significantly higher in urban agglomerations than in other regions. Regular and compact urban forms are conducive to the health of urban ecosystems, and appropriate urban size and strict urban development boundaries are conducive to maintaining high level of ecosystem health in riverine cities. The evolution of the spatial relationship between environmental pollution and ecosystem health in the MRYR (ecologically vulnerable areas in the western region and urban agglomerations in mid-east region) verifies the Environmental Kuznets Curve (EKC). The study area was divided into three eco-management zones at regional scale and ten eco-management zones at county scale by using the spatial superposition analysis method. Based on this, the multi-scale regulation strategies of ecosystem health was proposed. This study improved the assessment model of ecosystem health, expanded the theoretical research on driving mechanism and multi-scale regulation pathways of ecosystem health. The research results can provide scientific basis for environmental management and urban planning in ecologically fragile areas.
