A bibliometric and Visualized Analysis of Financial, Economic and Technological Factors Affecting the Environmental Sustainability

Purpose: Financial, Economic and Technological Factors play key role in Environmental Sustainability. This paper aims to analyze the existing research on factors affecting the Environmental Sustainability through a bibliometric approach. Design/Methodology/Approach: The data was collected from the Scopus database using secondary sources of 191 researches field published from 2002 to 2022 and VOSviewer software was employed to analyze the data. Findings: The findings reveal a remarkable surge in the volume of scholarly publications within this domain since 2018. The country results show that China emerging as the predominant contributor to the publication output, and UK ranks second in terms of publication volume. Prominent journals serving as the primary platforms for disseminating literature in this area include Environmental Science and Pollution Research, Energy Policy, Journal of Cleaner Production, and Energy Economics. Dominant keywords, such as "green finance," "CO2 emissions," "ecological footprint," "digital finance," "green investment," and constitute the quintessential lexicon of this scholarly terrain and represent its core thematic pillars. The exploration of interrelationships between green finance and carbon dioxide emission intensity, alongside the nexus of climate finance and renewable energy, represents the principal investigative thrust within this field. Presently, there exists a discernible dearth of literature systematically delving into the intrinsic connections between green finance and the energy sector, thereby positioning our research as a partial contribution to addressing this gap. Implications/Originality/Value: following policy recommendations are posited: (1) Strategic integration, multilateral cooperation, and the facilitation of a global paradigm shift towards green finance; (2) Enhanced research initiatives, diversification of financial instruments, and bolstered support mechanisms for the advancement of green energy technologies; (3) Promoting collaborative efforts towards sustainable development and fostering environmental stewardship on a global scale.

Productivity as a value parameter for FM and CREM

PurposeThis paper aims to investigate how facilities management (FM) and corporate real estate management (CREM) can add value to organisations by contributing to improved productivity of knowledge workers, and to explore interrelationships between productivity, employee satisfaction and other value parameters.Design/methodology/approachThis is a literature research of possible contributions of FM and CREM to improved labour productivity in relation to five activity areas of FM/CREM (portfolio management, project management, space and workplace management, property management and service management) and a first exploration of interrelationships between productivity and other value parameters.FindingsThe findings indicate that FM and CREM most directly can contribute to productivity by space and workplace management that supports different types of work and organisational activities. Portfolio and project management can mostly contribute by providing appropriate locations, adjacency relations between different parts of the organisation and supporting process flow and logistics. Property management can contribute to productivity by ensuring business continuity and comfortable indoor climate. Service management can contribute by relieving staff from trivial tasks by efficient services and by providing exiting experiences. Productivity shows to be mainly positively related to satisfaction; insights into interrelationships with other value parameters are still limited.Practical implicationsThe results can be used to obtain a deeper understanding of how FM and CREM can add value to organisations by contributing to improved labour productivity. Practitioners can find inspiration on how to contribute to labour productivity and additional benefits within specific activity areas of FM and CREM. The exploration of interrelationships between productivity and other values can be used as input to a future research agenda.Originality/valueThe paper adds new insights to the growing body of knowledge about how FM/CREM can contribute to increased labour productivity and how other value parameters may be interrelated with productivity.

Mental disorders in patients with epilepsy.

Mental disorders occur in patients with epilepsy significantly more frequently than in the general population or in those with other chronic diseases. The specificity of epilepsy as a condition of the central nervous system with complex somatic, psychic and social consequences contributes to co-occurrence of these disorders. Moreover, common patomechanisms are suggested for epilepsy and mental disorders, associated with disturbances of bioelectrical activity and neurotransmission in certain areas of the brain.The authors present a review of main groups of mental disorders observed in epileptic patients: psychotic, affective, anxiety, personality, and conduct disorders. They discuss their epidemiology and clinical presentation, with a particular focus on their risk factors and temporal relation to epileptic seizures. They also highlight problems associated with differential diagnosis and optimal therapeutic strategy. Mental disorders have a significant impact on the quality of life and functioning of patients with epilepsy. Further exploration of interrelationships between these illnesses, as well as cooperation between neurologists and psychiatrists promote an early and precise diagnosis of mental disturbances in this group of patients and their effective treatment.

Observing home-visiting quality across time: A longitudinal reliability study of the Home Visit Rating Scales.

Empirical examination of home-visiting quality over time is lacking in the research literature. To this end, this study examined the most recent edition of a widely used observational measure of home-visiting quality, the Home Visit Rating Scales (HOVRS), over four repeated assessments spanning an average of 6 months. Psychometric quality for the HOVRS Total and Home Visitor Practice Scales, including item ratings and calculated scores, across time was demonstrated. Stability indicators for the Family Engagement Scales varied, with superior reliability often indicated for individual ratings over the calculated score. The exploration of interrelationships among family demographics and change in HOVRS scores over time were largely insignificant. Interestingly, a decline in the Home Visitor Practice Scale significantly related to increased symptoms of maternal depression, possibly suggesting that home-visitors' focus shifted from children's needs to those of parents when mental health concerns were observed. Although this study is an examination of one program model and poses limited generalizability, it sets the stage for advancing the HOVRS and longitudinal measurement of home-visiting quality.

The developing Canadian Integrated Ocean Observing System (CIOOS)

Canada’s ocean science community which includes the federal government, academia, small businesses, not-for-profit organizations, and other research partners, collect and synthesize physical, chemical and biological ocean observations. This information is used for discovery research purposes, to model ocean changes and provide environmental assessment advice, support resource management decision-making, and establish baseline data for long-term monitoring. Canada’s ocean community collects large amounts of data but, aside from building comprehensive ocean observatories (Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) et al. 2010), there is no easy mechanism to integrate data from various sources to allow the exploration of interrelationships among variables, and no coordination and collaboration mechanism for the ocean community as a whole to generate an efficient system (Ocean Science and Technology Partnership (OSTP) and for Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) 2011). Consequently, we observe fragmented and isolated data – which may never be used outside of a specific project because it is not discoverable by other potential end users. Canada’s ocean science community (Wallace et al. 2014), led and supported by Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO), is advancing the development of a Canadian Integrated Ocean Observation System (CIOOS) that brings together and leverages existing Canadian and international ocean observation data into a federated data system which will generate value for users. This integrated ocean observing system (Wilson et al. 2016) will improve coordination and collaboration among diverse data producers, improve access to information for decision making, and enable discovery and access to data to support a wide variety of applied and theoretical research efforts to better understand, monitor, and manage activities in Canada’s oceans. Conceptual discussions on CIOOS have taken place with Environment and Climate Change Canada, Natural Resources Canada, the Department of National Defence, DFO, and the academic and NGO sector. Work is underway on four closely-linked projects to move CIOOS from the concept stage to the design stage, covering key areas required to develop a robust and integrated observing system: Governance; Data and observations; Cyber Infrastructure; and, Visualization tools. The project teams are evaluating the current ocean observing landscape in Canada (what exists, who has it, and what state is it in), the standards followed, and the gaps, limits or barriers to setting up an integrated ocean observing system. From this they will develop a list of recommendations to support the implementation of CIOOS, which will include which standards to use, the resources required (FTE, capital investment, capabilities), and the best practices to follow.

An exploration of interrelationships among presence indicators of a community of inquiry in a 3D game-like environment for high school programming courses

ABSTRACTThe combination of Open Sim and Scratch4OS can be a worthwhile innovation for introductory programming courses, using a Community of Inquiry (CoI) model as a theoretical instructional design framework. This empirical study had a threefold purpose to present: (a) an instructional design framework for the beneficial formalization of a virtual community, by utilizing a CoI model which consisted of 81 high school students and (b) the results of linear correlations to amplify the interrelationships among presence indicators (cognitive, social, and teaching) of a CoI model to learn basic programming concepts via a 3D multi-user game-like environment underpinned by Papert‘s theory of constructionism. The findings indicated that social presence (communication and cohesiveness of a group) had not only a direct correlation with the cognitive presence (learning process for the construction of knowledge), but also had a positive association with teaching presence (organization, planning, and guidance of learning activities), reinforcing them as well.

Recent dermatophyte divergence revealed by comparative and phylogenetic analysis of mitochondrial genomes

BackgroundDermatophytes are fungi that cause superficial infections of the skin, hair, and nails. They are the most common agents of fungal infections worldwide. Dermatophytic fungi constitute three genera, Trichophyton, Epidermophyton, and Microsporum, and the evolutionary relationships between these genera are epidemiologically important. Mitochondria are considered to be of monophyletic origin and mitochondrial sequences offer many advantages for phylogenetic studies. However, only one complete dermatophyte mitochondrial genome (E. floccosum) has previously been determined.ResultsThe complete mitochondrial DNA sequences of five dermatophyte species, T. rubrum (26,985 bp), T. mentagrophytes (24,297 bp), T. ajelloi (28,530 bp), M. canis (23,943 bp) and M. nanum (24,105 bp) were determined. These were compared to the E. floccosum sequence. Mitochondrial genomes of all 6 species were found to harbor the same set of genes arranged identical order indicating that these dermatophytes are closely related. Genome size differences were largely due to variable lengths of non-coding intergenic regions and the presence/absence of introns. Phylogenetic analyses based on complete mitochondrial genomes reveals that the divergence of the dermatophyte clade was later than of other groups of pathogenic fungi.ConclusionThis is the first systematic comparative genomic study on dermatophytes, a highly conserved and recently-diverged lineage of ascomycota fungi. The data reported here provide a basis for further exploration of interrelationships between dermatophytes and will contribute to the study of mitochondrial evolution in higher fungi.

Identifying Co-Occurring Disorders in Juvenile Justice Populations

A structured diagnostic interview (Practical Adolescent Dual Diagnostic Interview, or PADDI) designed to gather basic information about substance use disorders, other mental health conditions, and related experiences was administered to 284 adolescents in several juvenile justice settings. PADDI data were analyzed to assess the ability of the questions to identify mental health and substance use problems and to provide a preliminary exploration of interrelationships between those conditions. Results indicated that PADDI subscales possess adequate to excellent internal consistency reliability, with coefficients ranging from .624 to more than .900. A vast majority of delinquent adolescents manifested indications of multiple problems. Although there were high correlations among some conditions with respect to severity, conduct disorder and substance dependence did not correlate highly on measurements of severity. Furthermore, although most conditions displayed bimodal distributions, conduct disorder displayed a continuous distribution of symptoms. Utility of the instrument for routine clinical use is also discussed.

Anonymous data from 279 adolescents interviewed as part of routine clinical assessments in a variety of clinical programs were analyzed to assess the ability of the questions to identify potential problem areas and to provide a preliminary exploration of interrelationships between those problems. Results demonstrated that the vast majority of individuals manifested indications of multiple problems. For a given diagnostic condition, the trend is for those meeting at least the minimal DSM-IV criteria to exhibit substantially more than the minimum number of symptoms. Internal consistencies for item groups defining the various conditions range from more than .700 to over .900 indicating adequate to excellent internal consistency and reliability. Utility of the instrument for routine clinical use is also discussed.

Impact of cellular manufacturing on supply chain management: exploration of interrelationships between design issues

Traditionally, design of cells in the context of cellular manufacturing systems and design of supply chains are analysed separately. This paper proposes an integration of these two distinct but disjoint design approaches. An illustrative example has been provided to describe the interrelationship between design issues in cellular manufacturing and supply chain design.

An exploration of inter-relationships between contact angle, inverse phase gas chromatography and triboelectric charging data

Surfaces of pharmaceutical powders have been assessed using contact angle, inverse phase gas chromatography (IGC) and triboelectric (electrostatic) charging techniques. The suitability of the Dynamic Angle Tester (DAT), an instrument based on the sessile drop technique, in determining contact angles and then the surface energy of pharmaceutical powders was assessed. The dispersive components of the surface energy of powders determined from the DAT and IGC method ranked the powders in the same order. The dispersive component values obtained by IGC were, as expected, higher than those from the DAT, due to IGC probing the highest energy sites on the powder surface. IGC and triboelectric studies allow materials to be characterised in terms of their electron donating–accepting tendencies, so inter-relationships between the data from the two techniques were explored. Although the data set was limited, there appeared to be a correlation between the charges developed by the powders on contact with stainless steel and the ratio of the electron-donating to electron-accepting tendencies of the materials as obtained from IGC.
