Effect of Copper Nanoparticles Surface-Capped by Dialkyl Dithiophosphate on Different Base Oil Viscosity

In order to more accurately characterize the effects of nanoparticles on lubricant viscosity, the effects of copper dialkyl dithiophosphate (HDDP)-modified (CuDDP) nanoparticles on the dynamic viscosity of mineral oils 150N, alkylated naphthalene (AN5), diisooctyl sebacate (DIOS), and polyalphaolefins (PAO4, PAO6, PAO10, PAO40, and PAO100) were investigated at an experimental temperature of 40 °C and additive mass fraction ranging from 0.5% to 2.5%. CuDDP exhibits a viscosity-reducing effect on higher-viscosity base oils, such as PAO40 and PAO100, and a viscosity-increasing effect on lower-viscosity base oils, namely, 150N, AN5, DIOS, PAO4, PAO6, and PAO10. These effects can be attributed to the interfacial slip effect and the shear resistance of the nanoparticles. The experimental dynamic viscosity of the eight base oils containing CuDDP was compared with that calculated by the three classical formulae of nanofluid viscosity, The predicted viscosity values of the formulae deviated greatly from the experimental viscosity values, with the maximum deviation being 7.9%. On this basis, the interface slip effect was introduced into Einstein’s formula, the interface effect was quantified with the aniline point of the base oil, and a new equation was established to reflect the influence of CuDDP nanoparticles on lubricating oil viscosity. It can better reflect the influence of CuDDP on the viscosity of various base oils, and the deviation from the experimental data is less than 1.7%.

Modeling of ionic liquids viscosity via advanced white-box machine learning.

Ionic liquids (ILs) are more widely used within the industry than ever before, and accurate models of their physicochemical characteristics are becoming increasingly important during the process optimization. It is especially challenging to simulate the viscosity of ILs since there is no widely agreed explanation of how viscosity is determined in liquids. In this research, genetic programming (GP) and group method of data handling (GMDH) models were used as white-box machine learning approaches to predict the viscosity of pure ILs. These methods were developed based on a large open literature database of 2813 experimental viscosity values from 45 various ILs at different pressures (0.06-298.9MPa) and temperatures (253.15-573K). The models were developed based on five, six, and seven inputs, and it was found that all the models with seven inputs provided more accurate results, while the models with five and six inputs had acceptable accuracy and simpler formulas. Based on GMDH and GP proposed approaches, the suggested GMDHmodel with seven inputs gave the most exact results with an average absolute relative deviation (AARD) of 8.14% and a coefficient of determination (R2) of 0.98. The proposed techniques were compared with theoretical and empirical models available in the literature, and it was displayed that the GMDH model with seven inputs strongly outperforms the existing approaches. The leverage statistical analysis revealed that most of the experimental data were located within the applicability domains of both GMDH and GP models and were of high quality. Trend analysis also illustrated that the GMDH and GP models could follow the expected trends of viscosity with variations in pressure and temperature. In addition, the relevancy factor portrayed that the temperature had the greatest impact on the ILs viscosity. The findings of this study illustrated that the proposed models represented strong alternatives to time-consuming and costly experimental methods of ILs viscosity measurement.

Thermophysical insights and COSMO-RS study of triethylenetetramine-based protic ionic liquids with alkyl carboxylic acids

Protic ionic liquids (PILs) have increasing interest due to their potential application compared to conventional organic solvents. In the present study, new class of protic ionic liquids were developed by combining triethylenetetramine as cation and distinct carboxylic acids, specifically formic acid, butanoic acid, hexanoic acid, and octanoic acid employed as the anions. The products structures and purity were verified using 1H and 13C NMR as well as ESI-MS analysis. The structural variations effects on the thermophysical characteristics such as refractive index (nD), viscosity (η), density (ρ), and speed of sound (u) were evaluated throughout a broad temperature range. Temperatures between 293.15 and 333.15 K were used to calculate the viscosity and density values. It was also determined the thermal decomposition temperature (Td) and quantified the amount of water in the synthetic protic ionic liquids. Additional parameters such the expansion coefficient (α), standard entropy (S0), volume (V), lattice potential energy (UPOT), isentropic compressibility (βs), Intermolecular free length (Lf) of PILs were calculated using experimental values for sound speed and density. Furthermore, computation of activation energy employed the experimental viscosity values. In order to calculate the electronic polarizability and free volume present inside the ionic liquids, refractive indices of PILs were measured between the temperatures of 293.15 and 323.15 K. The study also explored the Conductor-like Screening Model for Real Solvents (COSMO-RS) computational approach to gain insights into the structural variation of TETA-based ionic liquids. The prepared PILs derived properties and linked with their structural moieties.

Rheological properties of water-based amino acid ionic liquids

The rheological properties and zero-shear viscosity of water-based lubricants (WBLs) containing amino acid ionic liquids (AAILs) were investigated using both equilibrium (EMD) and non-equilibrium molecular dynamics (NEMD) simulations. We also performed experimental measurements to validate the simulations. The simulations demonstrated that adding AAIL additives to water increased both the shear viscosity and zero-shear viscosity. We added tetrabutylphosphonium (P4444) as a cation and three different amino acids, serine (Ser), lysine (Lys), or phenylalanine (Phe), as anions. We varied the AAIL concentration from 5 to 10 wt. % for tetrabutylphosphonium-serine (P4444-Ser) ionic liquid additives, showing that AAILs increased water viscosity by 68%–125%, depending on concentration. The P4444-Ser WBLs also exhibited a significantly higher first normal stress difference than water, meaning they could support more load in lubrication. The improved rheology persisted over a wide range of shear rates up to ∼1011 s−1. We have extracted full rheological parameters by fitting data into Cross, Carreau–Yasuda, and Eyring models, including zero-shear viscosity and critical shear rates of onset shear thinning. The experimental values of zero-shear viscosity were close to zero-shear viscosity results obtained from fitting NEMD results to these models, demonstrating the high fidelity of the molecular model. We explored the formation of hydration shells around amino acid anions as a marker for low friction behavior. These findings suggest that AAIL WBLs can be potentially low-friction and biodegradable lubricants in tribological applications.

Volumetric Behaviour of Binary Mixture of Dual Purpose Kerosene (DPK) and Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) at 303K

The study of volume changes in binary mixtures is attracting considerable interest from researchers due to the degree of molecular interaction between the mixed solvent molecules and their importance in many chemical industries and engineering disciplines. The experimental values of densities (ρ) and viscosities (η) of pure and binary mixtures of dual-purpose kerosene (DPK) and automotive gas oil (AGO) were obtained over the whole range of mixture composition at a temperature of 303 K. The experimental data obtained were employed to determine the excess molar volume (V_m^E), excess viscosity (VE), and excess Gibb’s free energy of activation (ΔGE) based on the molecular interactions arising due to the structural effect of the mixture. The measured viscosity values were correlated with Grunberg and Nissan, Kendel and Monroe, and Frenkel’s semi-empirical models to evaluate the best fit for the system. The results acquired were explained according to their structural differences, strength, and nature of intermolecular interactions in the binary mixture. The experimental result revealed that the binary mixture of DPK and AGO shows positive excess molar volume and negative excess viscosity. Weak, specific interactions were responsible for the dispersion force in the binary mixtures.

Rheological Characterization of Gofio and Aloe Vera Blended Juice

Considering that gofio (Gf) and aloe vera juice (AVJ) have very good nutritional qualities, their combination is proposed because it is indicated as an easy and fast source of basic bio-elements. The texture of a food must be accepted by customers. This means that the rheological characteristics of the product must be known and controlled. Therefore, the influence of Gf concentration on the rheological behavior of Gf/AVJ suspensions must be determined. With continuous shear experiments, the purely viscous response of a material can be obtained. AVJ and Gf/AVJ suspensions showed shear-thinning behavior. The ability of Gf particles and aggregates to distort the flow field was quantified determining the intrinsic viscosity η of the suspensions at several shear rates using Krieger–Dougherty equation. The results indicated that the shape and size of Gf aggregates is not affected by the mechanical action due to shear. The power law (Ostwald–de Waele) model fitted the experimental steady viscosity versus shear rate values (steady viscosity curves). The flow index was less than 1, which corresponded to shear-thinning behavior. It was obtained that the flow index of AVJ maintained unaltered despite the presence of Gf particles. However, the viscosity value increased with the increasing amount of Gf as it was expected. The viscoelastic behavior of the microstructure at rest of the AVJ and Gf/AVJ suspensions was studied using oscillatory shear tests. First, linear viscoelastic response was confirmed in the relatively low amplitude shear region γ0<0.001 using an amplitude sweep shear test. After that, frequency sweep shear tests were conducted in the region where Gf/AVJ suspensions showed linear viscoelastic behavior. Varying the frequency, the response of the microstructure at rest of the suspensions when the mechanical action lasts from short to long time interval can be characterized. Jeffreys mechanical model was used for the analysis of the LVE response of Gf/AVJ suspensions. Using small amplitude oscillatory shear (SAOS) tests, it was obtained that Gf/AVJ suspensions are viscoelastic liquids that change their texture from chewy to creamy when the Gf concentration increases.

Viscosity of slags from joint smelting of oxidized nickel and sulfide copper ores

The work is devoted to the viscosity determination of molten slags from the joint smelting of oxidized nickel and sulfide copper ores. The model slags were synthesized close in composition and structure to real samples, and limiting the investigated composition range (wt.%): iron-containing slag (8.9 CaO, 11.8 MgO, 12.5 Al2O3, 47.4 SiO2, 13.3 FeO, and 5.0 Fe2O3) and iron-free slag formed by removing iron oxides from the iron-containing slag (12.5 CaO, 16.0 MgO, 9.4 Al2O3, and 58.3 SiO2). The experimental (vibrational method) viscosity values for iron-containing (1550−1300 °C) and iron-free (1550−1400 °C) model slags are 0.31−2.33 and 1.28−4.55 Pa·s, respectively. Viscosity estimation by the Kalmanovitch–Frank model shows a discrepancy with the experimental data for iron-containing slag. Regression analysis (by Weimann–Frenkel–Urbain formalism) of the experimental data was carried out, and original empirical models were proposed to predict the primary model slags viscosity in the considered temperature range. Reducing the basicity from 0.7 (iron-containing slag) to 0.6 (iron-free slag) increases viscous flow activation energy from 204 to 236 kJ/mol. To maintain optimal slag viscosity, joint smelting of oxidized nickel and sulfide copper ores should be carried out at a temperature not lower than 1400 °C.

Experimental and theoretical evaluation of interactions in liquid mixtures consisting bio-based solvent and 2-alkoxyethanols through viscometric study

Viscometric properties provide a deep and meaningful insight of the various interactions taking place in binary liquid mixtures. Recently, bio-based solvents have been either employed directly as green solvents or as a key component for the production of new solvent systems that are potentially less toxic and more bio-compatible. In this paper, we report experimental values of dynamic viscosity (η) for binary systems of bio-based solvent (gamma-valerolactone) with 2-alkoxyethanols at different temperatures (298.15–313.15 K; interval, 5 K), covering the whole composition range under atmospheric pressure of 0.1 MPa. On the experimental basis, kinematic viscosity (ν), viscosity deviation (Δη) and excess Gibbs free energy of activation for viscous flow (ΔG∗E) have been calculated. The derived properties, Δη and ΔG∗E were fitted to Redlich-Kister polynomial equation to obtain binary adjustable parameters and standard deviations between experimental and estimated values. Further, the viscosity-composition data have been correlated with various approaches including no adjustable parameter (Bingham, Arrhenius, Kendall and Kendall-Monroe), one adjustable parameter, (Grunberg − Nissan, Hind et al. and Katti-Chaudhri), two adjustable parameter (McAllister three-body and Heric-Brewer) and three adjustable parameter (McAllister four-body and Jouyban-Acree) relations. Moreover, for all the predicted viscosity values, the standard deviation percentages (σ%) were calculated to compare the quality of correlations with experimental data. Furthermore, the Graph theory was employed to correlate experimental Δη values and to analyse the patterns of molecular aggregation in the studied mixtures. The DFT calculations were also performed in the support of graph theory. The observed Δη data suggests that the dissociation of self-associated structures of pure components is more dominating factor than hetero-association for all the studied binaries.

Studying Different Thermodynamic Properties of Binary Liquid Mixture of Ethyl Acetate with 1-Alkanols at 303.15K

Abstract: Experimental values of ultrasonic velocity (u), density (ρ) and viscosity (η) for the binary mixtures of ethyl acetate with 1-alkanols have been measured at 303.15 K over the entire mole fraction range. Using these data, the excess isentropic compressibility (βES), excess intermolecular free length (LEF), excess molar volume (VEM), excess free volume (VEF) and excess available volume (VEa) have been calculated. These parameters were used to study the nature and extent of intermolecular interaction between component molecules present in the binary mixtures. Excess values of isentropic compressibility, intermolecular free length, molar volume, free volume and available volume were plotted against the mole fraction of ethyl acetate over the whole composition range. From the properties of these excess parameters, the nature and strength of the interactions in these binary systems are discussed.

Computation of Electrical Conductivities of Aqueous Electrolyte Solutions: Two Surfaces, One Property.

In this work, we computed electrical conductivities under ambient conditions of aqueous NaCl and KCl solutions by using the Einstein-Helfand equation. Common force fields (charge q = ±1 e) do not reproduce the experimental values of electrical conductivities, viscosities, and diffusion coefficients. Recently, we proposed the idea of using different charges to describe the potential energy surface (PES) and the dipole moment surface (DMS). In this work, we implement this concept. The equilibrium trajectories required to evaluate electrical conductivities (within linear response theory) were obtained by using scaled charges (with the value q = ±0.75 e) to describe the PES. The potential parameters were those of the Madrid-Transport force field, which accurately describe viscosities and diffusion coefficients of these ionic solutions. However, integer charges were used to compute the conductivities (thus describing the DMS). The basic idea is that although the scaled charge describes the ion-water interaction better, the integer charge reflects the value of the charge that is transported due to the electric field. The agreement obtained with experiments is excellent, as for the first time electrical conductivities (and the other transport properties) of NaCl and KCl electrolyte solutions are described with high accuracy for the whole concentration range up to their solubility limit. Finally, we propose an easy way to obtain a rough estimate of the actual electrical conductivity of the potential model under consideration using the approximate Nernst-Einstein equation, which neglects correlations between different ions.

Molecular interaction studies in binary liquid mixtures containing ethyl acetate with n-octanol at different temperatures

Abstract: Experimental values of ultrasonic velocity (u), density (ρ) and viscosity () for the binary mixture Ethyl acetate (1) + n-Octanol (2) were measured over the whole composition range at temperature T = (295.15, 298.15,301.15 and 305.15) K and at the atmospheric pressure. From the experimental data excess sound velocity (uE), excess viscosity (), excess free volume ( and excess internal pressure (PiE) were calculated. These results have been fitted to the Redlich-Kister polynomial equation. Excess viscosity (), excess free volume ( and excess internal pressure (PiE) were found to be negative for all temperatures. Excess sound velocity (uE), excess viscosity (), excess free volume ( and excess internal pressure (PiE) were plotted against the mole fraction of ethyl acetate over the whole composition range at 295.15, 298.15, 301.15 and 305.15 K. They have been analysed to discuss the nature and strength of intermolecular interactions in these mixtures.

Viscosity Analysis of Water-based Copper Oxide Nanofluids

In this paper, the effects of weight concentration of nanoparticles and temperature on the viscosity of water-based copper oxide nanofluids have been studied experimentally using analysis of variance (ANOVA)-based two-factor three-level (23) factorial design. The results show that a maximum increase of 23.12% in viscosity is observed at 30°C temperature as the weight concentration of nanoparticles increases from 0.03 to 0.3wt.%. Whereas the temperature increases from 30 to 60°C, the viscosity decreases up to 46.19% in the case of 0.3wt.% nanofluid. Temperature is found to be more dominant than the concentration of nanoparticles. The optimum value of viscosity (0.513 mPa.s) is found at concentrations of 0.1wt.% and 60°C temperature with an 18.72% enhancement in viscosity as compared to the base fluid. The experimental and model values of viscosity have been compared with the predictions of the proposed equation for viscosity. The experimentally measured results are found near the proposed results whereas the model underestimates the viscosity in the case of all nanofluids. The maximum underestimation of 25.92 % was observed in the case of 0.3wt.% nanofluid at 60°C temperature.

EFFECT OF CONCENTRATION AND TEMPERATURE ON THE RHEOLOGICAL BEHAVIOR OF HYDROXYLETHYL CELLULOSE SOLUTIONS

The knowledge of the rheological properties of polymers makes their use interesting in various fields of applications, such as food industry, cosmetics, enhanced oil recovery or construction materials. Whatever the application, the effect of temperature and concentration on these properties is of great importance. This study covered a wide range of concentrations from 0.2 w/% to 1 w/%, and temperatures from 10 °C to 80 °C. The results obtained provide interesting information regarding the effects of the temperature and concentration of the aqueous solutions of the polymer since they reveal that the rheological properties remained practically unchanged in the temperature range considered. The impacts of shear rate, temperature and concentration on the flow behavior were analyzed. Small-amplitude oscillatory shear measurements were performed, and the results obtained show that the apparent viscosity is strongly influenced by the concentration of the aqueous solution of HEC, exhibiting a marked non-Newtonian shear-thinning behavior at different temperatures. The flow behavior is well described by several rheological models. The effect of temperature on the kinematic viscosity was fitted with the Arrhenius model; the behavior of this model in relation to experimental viscosity values was suitable and the linear fit showed good regression coefficients. The dynamic state was well described with the generalized Maxwell model.

An Experimental Investigation of the Effects of Fly Ash and Nano Titanium Dioxide (n-TiO2) Usage as Viscosity Modifying Agents(VMAs) in Cement-Based Grouts on Rheological Parameters.

The effects of n-TiO2 additions at different amounts by mass (0.0%, 0.3%, 0.6%, 0.9%, 1.2% and 1.5%) on rheological properties (plastic viscosity and yield stress) of cement-based grouts incorporated with fly ash as mineral additive at different constitutes (0%-for control purpose, 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 25% and 30%) were investigated by analysis of experiments in this study. To prepare all samples, w/b ratio was defined as 1.0. To prevent sedimentation of TiO2 nanoparticles in free water and to supply uniform distribution of TiO2 nanoparticles in water with help of removing of these nanoparticles from each other, Ultrasonication method was applied by using a Horn type Ultrasonic Homogenizer in this experimental study. All experimental viscosity values of the cement-based grout samples were also obtained by using Coaxial Rotating Cylinder Rheometer test machine. Modified Bingham analytical model was used to investigate on this study for reference grout samples because of it shows dilatant (shear-thickening) flow behavior. Test results show that plastic viscosity values of the grout samples obtained by addition of FA remarkably decrease with rising amount of n-TiO2. Yield stress of fresh grout mixtures increases with respect to increase amount of FA content in all grout mixtures with different proportions of n-TiO2. the usage of FA as a mineral additive in cement-based grouts has improved the yield stress value of the samples. Since n-TiO2 has such a low specific surface area, the water requirement of the grout matrix tends to increase. Therefore, this situation causes increasing of cohesion. The developed ANNs model has been able to predict the plastic viscosity and yield stress of cement-based grouts containing TiO2 nanoparticle doped fly ash with very low error rates and high accuracy

Thermodynamic properties of binary liquid mixtures of isoamyl alcohol with heterocyclic compounds at varying temperatures

The current article presents the experimental density ( ρ ) and viscosity ( η ) values were re ported as a function of mole fraction for the binary liquid mixtures of isoamyl alcohol (IAA) + heterocyclic components (NCHC) namely; piperidine, pyrrole, pyridine, morpholine, and quinoline at the temperatures T = (293.15 to 313.15) K with 10 K intervals under atmospheric pressure (0.1 MPa). Based on experimental data, the excess molar volume ( V E ), viscosity deviation ( ∆η ) was calculated. These values were correlated to the Redlich-Kister (R-K) model at measured temperatures. The obtained excess molar volume was negative deviations and deviation in viscosity was positive at the above said temperatures. From these results, the new H-bond, OH- π interaction, and molecules fitting in studied unlike molecules had been determined. Further, the influence of temperature on ρ, η, V E and ∆η were also reported. .

Deep insights into the viscosity of deep eutectic solvents by an XGBoost-based model plus SHapley Additive exPlanation.

Deep eutectic solvents (DESs) are emerging as novel green solvents for the processes of mass transport and heat transfer, in which the viscosity of DESs is important for their industrial applications. However, for DESs, the measurement of viscosity is time-consuming, and there are many factors influencing the viscosity, which impedes their wider application. This study aims to develop a data-driven model which could accurately and rapidly predict the viscosity of diverse DESs at different temperatures, and furthermore boost the design and screening of novel DESs. In this work, we collected 107 DESs with 994 experimental values of viscosity from published works. Given the significant effect of water on viscosity, the water content of each collected DES was labeled. The Morgan fingerprint was first employed as a feature to describe the chemical environment of DESs. And four machine learning algorithms were used to train models: support vector regression (SVR), random forest (RF), neural network (NN), and extreme gradient boosting (XGBoost), and XGBoost showed the best predictive performance. In combination with the powerful interpretation method SHapley Additive exPlanation (SHAP), we further revealed the positive or negative effect of features on viscosity. Overall, this work provides a machine learning model which could predict viscosity precisely and facilitate the design and application of DESs.

Computational Analysis of Water/Cu Nano Fluid Dynamic Viscosity using Molecular Dynamic Simulations

To enhance thermal management for micro-electric devices, nanofluids become promising working fluids for many thermo-fluid applications. Thermal characteristics of the working fluids can be improved by nano particles additives dispersed in the working fluid such as Cu-nanoparticles in water. The nanoparticle additives manage to alter thermal and dynamic properties of the working fluids such as the dynamic viscosity which plays an important role in specifying thermal and dynamic behaviour of the working media. In order to understand the effect of modifying the dynamic viscosity of the working media, the effective value of this property must be determined. The molecular dynamic (MD) simulation has been used to estimate the Cu/water nanofluid dynamic viscosity at partial volume fractions of φ=0.0125 % and φ= 0.02478 %, and at working temperatures 293 K, 303 K, 313 K, 323 K and 333 K. The used spherical shape nanoparticles are made up of numbers of 0.3-nm-diameter Cu-atoms. The MD simulation results have been compared to reliable experimental and analytical results. The estimated values of the dynamic viscosity using MD simulations converge very well to the experimental and analytical values of the dynamic viscosity, which reveals the advantages of using MD simulations to determine physical properties of nanofluid working medias and hence to design more efficient working fluids. The RDF shows good results for the SPCE model

Controlled Degradation of Commercial Resin for Meltblown Nonwoven Fabric Sheet Production.

Manufacturing meltblown nonwoven fabrics requires special grades of resin with very low viscosity, which are not dealt with so much on market and cost quite high compared to the standard grades. We propose a high-shear rate processing method that can quickly and easily produce such low-viscosity resin from the commercial one without using organic peroxides. In this method, we apply high-shear stress to molten resin by using a high-shear extruder, which is a single screw extruder with high screw rotation speed, and the resin is thermally decomposed of its shear-induced heat which is quickly generated. We found that polypropylene with a value of melt flow rate over a thousand, which was required for the meltblown process, was produced from the standard grade with the high-shear extruder at the screw rotation speed of 3600 min and the barrel temperature over 300 C. Using the degradated polypropylene, a meltblown nonwoven fabric sheet was successfully fabricated. We also developed a numerical simulator of the high-shear extruder which can handle a wide range of the screw rotation speed and barrel temperature by the Nusselt number modulated with the operational conditions. The experimental values of the zero-shear viscosity and temperature at the exit of the extruder agreed well with the simulation results. Our high-shear rate processing method will enable us to quickly and easily produce various meltblown nonwoven fabric sheets at low costs.

Investigation of molecular interactions in binary mixtures using thermophoresis

In the present work, experimental values of densities and viscosities for the binary systems of cyclohexane and n-alkanol (1-pentanol, 1-hexanol, 1-heptanol, 1-octanol, 1-nonanol, and 1-decanol) at 293.15 K to 323.15 K were measured. Molecular interactions in the above binary mixtures were investigated considering the mutual diffusion coefficient, thermal diffusion coefficient, Soret effect, and the separation ratio. The magnitude of the Soret coefficients strongly depends on the molecular interactions in the binary mixture. The most plausible forces among unlike molecules in the binary mixtures are Debye forces correspond to dipole-induced dipole interactions.Obtained results demonstrate that in the mixtures, increasing the alkyl chain length reinforces molecular interactions among unlike molecules.

Thermodynamic Studies on Non-ideal Binary Mixtures of Isoamyl Alcohol and Various Alkanols at 298.15 to 308.15 K

Experimental values of density (ρ), viscosity (η) and speed of sound (u) of five non-ideal binary {solvent + co-solvent} liquid mixture systems, namely isoamyl alcohol (IAA) + ethanol (EA), isoamyl alcohol + 1,2-ethanediol (EDO), isoamyl alcohol + 1,3-propanediol (PDO), isoamyl alcohol + 1,4-butanediol (BDO) and isoamyl alcohol + glycerol (GLY) have been measured over the whole composition range of mole fraction at T = (298.15–308.15) K with 5 K temperature intervals under atmospheric pressure. According to the ρ, η, and u data, the values of excess volume (VE), deviation in viscosity (∆η), and deviation in isentropic compressibility (∆κs) were calculated. The negative values of VE and ∆κs and positive values of Δη obtained for the studied binary liquid systems are indicative of strong intermolecular interactions between unlike molecules. Further, the effects of the number of –OH groups in polyols, as well as the influence of temperature on thermodynamic parameters, were analyzed. Furthermore, the calculated values of VE, ∆η, and ∆κs were correlated with the Redlich–Kister (R–K) model and reasonable standard deviations were obtained.
