This study analyzes the factors impacting energy constraints (EC) that Vietnamese enterprises face, based on World Bank survey data from businesses during the 2009 2023 period. Using a probit regression model, the study examines factors such as firm size, firm age, industry type, ownership structure, financial and institutional constraints, along with power outage occurrences, to identify their relationship with EC. The results show that firm size, manufacturing industry, product innovation, and financial and institutional barriers significantly impact energy constraints. Large enterprises, manufacturing firms, and those engaged in product innovation experience more energy-related challenges due to high energy demands and dependency on stable energy supply. Further analysis reveals differences between small and medium enterprises and large enterprises, as well as between energy-intensive and less energy-intensive industries. Meanwhile, firm age and ownership structure show no clear influence on energy constraints. Notably, financial and institutional barriers are key factors that increase energy constraints, hindering enterprises’ ability to invest in alternative energy solutions.

Innovative Themed Slide Design in Water Parks: Savanna

Inspired by the unique ecosystem of the African savannas, the Savanna slide combines the rich textures of nature with modern water park technologies, offering a groundbreaking design in both visual and functional terms. Suitable for both individual and group activities, this water slide allows eight people to use four different and equivalent slide paths at the same time, allowing visitors to share a safari-themed adventure. The structural elements used in the Savanna slide reflect the natural beauties of Africa and add a strong connection to the theme of the park. The load-bearing columns are inspired by the Baobab tree, the symbol of strength and durability in Africa. These columns both add aesthetic richness and strengthen the thematic depth of the project by offering functionality. One of the most innovative features of the project is that it has been implemented with fluoride-containing production technology. Thanks to this technology, the slides absorb sunlight and glow in the dark, offering users a unique “night safari” experience during the night. This feature makes the project a center of attraction even in the dark and contributes to energy efficiency. Sustainability is one of the fundamental principles of the Savanna Project. The slides are produced with the environmentally friendly RTM (Resin Transfer Molding) technology and have a long-lasting and energy-efficient structure. Special pigments resistant to UV rays ensure that the slides remain vibrant and bright at all hours of the day, while integrated natural light effects provide dynamic lighting on the inner surface. The fluorescent lighting technology used for the first time in the project absorbs sunlight on the slide surfaces during the day and reflects this light back at night, providing an impressive visual feast. This innovation makes the project a sustainable attraction center, rather than just an entertainment element. The Savana Project is not just a water slide, but an innovative experience area that combines the aesthetics of nature and cultural richness with modern engineering. Bringing together aesthetics and functionality, this project brings a new perspective to the water park industry, highlights sustainability awareness and aims to make a difference in the sector.

College students’ disciplinary expertise and their entrepreneurial intentions: an exploratory study based on foreign language majors with experience in innovation and entrepreneurship training programs

Taking foreign language majors with experience in innovation and entrepreneurship training program (IETP) as samples, this study investigates the influence of disciplinary expertise on entrepreneurial intention. Based on the theory of planned behavior (TPB), a model was designed to examine the relationships among entrepreneurial intentions, perceived behavioral control, attitude toward entrepreneurship, subjective norms, IETP experience, foreign language self-efficacy and cultural intelligence. The data were collected through questionnaires and Partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) was adopted to test the hypotheses. The results show that: (1) perceived behavioral control and attitude toward entrepreneurship are sound predictors of entrepreneurial intentions but the influence of subjective norms on entrepreneurial intentions is insignificant; (2) IETP experience is directly related with perceived behavioral control and indirectly related with entrepreneurial intentions; (3) indicators of participants’ disciplinary expertise such as foreign language self-efficacy and cultural intelligence are directly related with IETP experience and indirectly related with entrepreneurial intentions. These six variables included in the research model account for 53.4% of the variance of entrepreneurial intentions.

Does executives’ prior experience matter for corporate green innovation? Evidence from China

ABSTRACT This paper explores whether executives’ experience related to green innovation developed in their former firms affect green innovation performance of their successor firms when they change jobs between different firms. By tracking executives’ movement across Chinese listed firms, we find a significantly positive association between the green innovation performance of the former and the successor firm for the same executive, which supports the behavioral consistency theory. This pattern is more pronounced when the successor firm has stronger environmental attention and lower top management team age heterogeneity. Overall, our findings corroborate the importance of executives’ prior experience in corporate green innovation.

Regulating the Risks Associated with Malicious Use of Artificial Intelligence in the US, EU and China

The article presents an analysis of the main mechanisms for regulating risks caused by the malicious use of artificial intelligence (MUAI) in the USA, the EU and China. The relevance of the MUAI problem is proven by numerous data on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies by antisocial actors. The authors set a goal – to identify the specifics of regulating MUAI risks in the USA, EU and China – due to the innovative experience of these three jurisdictions. It was found that in the USA counteraction to MUAI has not yet been shaped into systemic decisions at the level of federal authorities. It is more about decisions that take into account the growing risks of MUAI within the framework of general regulation of AI and the safety of its use. The EU has adopted the world's first Law on AI, which however pays little attention to the MUAI issues, and the main initiators of proposals to counter and regulate risks are law enforcement agencies, such as Europol. In China, MUAI risk regulation is most centralized and is becoming the subject of strategic documents and legislative acts. The authors use a systemic approach when considering various options for MUAI threats and formulating the research conclusions.

Preface

Focusing on the latest research development and progress in the fields of power system engineering and smart grid, the 2024 International Conference on Power System Engineering and Smart Grid (PSESG 2024) was held in Beijing, China from August 16th to 18th, 2024. It was presided over by North China University of Technology (NCUT), with the full support of many universities, research institutes and enterprises at home and abroad. PSESG 2024 was created to build a high-quality academic forum to exchange and share successful experiences of innovation in the domains of power system engineering and smart grid, and establish an effective cooperation platform for researchers and scholars from universities, research institutes and enterprises all over the world. Calling for papers on such topics as Transmission and Distribution System and Equipment, Electrical and Energy Circuits and Systems, Power System Planning and Dispatch, Power System Security Defense and Restoration Control, Smart Grid Deployment, Smart Grid and Distributed Energy, etc., this conference attracted about 80 scientists, engineers, practitioners and graduate students worldwide to exchange their current technical application experience and research results, so as to promote the development of relevant fields and industries. The conference took place for three days, among which day two could be deemed the most critical. On behalf of the organizer, Professor Jinghua Zhou (North China University of Technology), first made an opening speech, introducing NCUT and its cross-disciplinary characteristics of energy storage to the experts and scholars attending the conference, and expressing his sincere welcome to the attendees. And next is the keynote speech part performed by several renown experts, including Professor Shunli Wang (Inner Mongolia University of Technology), Professor Zechun Hu (Tsinghua University), Professor Jinghua Zhou (North China University of Technology), Professor Yu Wang (Chongqing University), and Associate Professor Chenye Wu (The Chinese University of Hong Kong). Their speeches not only covered the latest advances in power system engineering and smart grid, but also explored the innovative application of energy storage technology and the trend of the digital transformation of power systems, providing participants with valuable academic insights. Then, the oral and poster presentation mainly presented by young scholars were held to showcase their research achievements. They talked about the technical principles, operational characteristics, optimization methods, as well as challenges and solutions in practical applications of power system and smart grid from different perspectives, stimulating the spark of thought collision and promoting the deepening of academic cooperation. Discussion and Question and Answer happened throughout the meeting. We would like to thank all the authors and speakers for their hard work and wonderful contributions, and all the experts and scholars for their attention and support to this conference. We believe that with our joint efforts, research and application in the fields of power system and smart grid will achieve more remarkable results and make greater contributions to the cause of sustainable development of mankind. Finally, we look forward to meeting again in the next International Conference on Power System Engineering and Smart Grid to discuss the future development path of power system and smart grid. Portal Project as a Study of Digital Sculpture in the Public Space in the 21st Century

This article examines the effects of digital technologies on art in the 21st century and the transformation of art in the public sphere. After the Internet revolution, significant progress has been made in areas such as artificial intelligence, big data, the Internet of Things (IoT), blockchain, and biotechnology. These technologies have also created significant transformations in art disciplines, offering artists new forms of expression such as virtual reality, augmented reality, and interactive installations. Today, one of the main goals of public art practices, which also use these new forms of expression, is to convey social, cultural, and political messages by reaching large segments of society. Digital art, on the other hand, transforms these practices, offering viewers more interactive, participatory, and innovative experiences. The article discusses how digitalization transforms the social context of art through the discussions of Jürgen Habermas, Hannah Arendt, Henri Lefebvre, and Michel Foucault on the concept of public space. What these theorists have in common is that they emphasize that the public sphere is a central concept for understanding and transforming society's political, social, and cultural structure. While Habermas sees the public sphere as the ground for democratic debates, Arendt considers this space an arena based on the visible actions of individuals. While Lefebvre argues that the public sphere is constantly reproduced by social relations and power dynamics, Foucault, on the other hand, draws attention to how the relations of power and surveillance shape this field. With the approaches of these theorists, it has been tried to associate the redefinition of the public sphere through digitalization and the transformative role of art in this process. In addition, Benediktas Gylys' Portal Project, a public artwork discussed in the axis of all these discussions, aims to strengthen cultural and social ties by combining digital sculpture and relational aesthetics. While the project aims to increase the interaction of different cultures through live video connections between cities, it also raises important ethical questions about surveillance and privacy. In addition, it has been examined that the new forms of expression and interaction methods offered by digital technologies make public spaces more dynamic and democratic and strengthen the role of art in social interactions.

Percutaneous management of chronic total occlusion of the portal vein: a retrospective analysis of technical aspects and outcomes

BackgroundChronic total occlusion (CTO) of the portal vein is one of the main causes of portal hypertension, which may result in life-threatening complications often managed by interventional radiology (IR). The aim of this study is to report the innovative experience with percutaneous revascularization therapy in the management of portal vein CTO in paediatric and adult patients.Materials and methodsFrom January 2020 to December 2023 consecutive paediatric and adult patients with severe portal hypertension resulting from portal vein CTO who underwent attempts at percutaneous recanalization were retrospectively reviewed. Technical aspects including the percutaneous approach, portal vein stenting, transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) creation, varices embolization and clinical outcomes including adverse events and control of portal hypertension were analyzed. Technical success was defined as at least partial restoration of the portal vein patency at the final angiogram. Clinical success was defined as the improvement of clinical-laboratory signs of portal hypertension and control for variceal bleeding.ResultsFifteen patients (median age = 21 years, range = 59 years; 10 males; 5 children) with portal vein CTO underwent a total of 25 percutaneous revascularization procedures. Nine patients (60%; 5 children, 4 adults) were liver transplant recipients. All patients except one had cavernous transformation of the extra-hepatic portal vein, involving the spleno-mesenteric confluence in 5 cases. Technical success was achieved in 13/15 (87%) patients of whom 8 had portal revascularization through the placement of an extra-hepatic stent; indeed, in six cases, a TIPS was performed to achieve sustained portal vein patency. Embolization of varices and/or cavernoma was performed in 12 patients. Adverse events occurred in 2/15 (splenic artery perforation and hemoperitoneum, one each) managed without sequelae. Technical success led to clinical success in all the 13/15 (87%) cases, with a median follow-up of 20 months (IQR 4–34 months).ConclusionCTO can be managed effectively by interventional radiology. Restored portal flow physiology alone is possible in most patients, while TIPS may be required in a small proportion of them, to prolong portal vein patency and control portal hypertension.

Experiences of a digital health innovation for older adults living with long-term health problems: the SelfSTRENGTH application

ABSTRACT There is a national call for digital health innovations in the provision of health and social care, especially for older adults in the context of home. The Reflective STRENGTH-Giving Dialogue (STRENGTH) method is used to provide individual and holistic care using recurrent dialogues. The SelfSTRENGTH application (app) was developed to support reflection and stimulate activity that enables achievement of meaningful life projects. The objective of the study was to describe how the use of the SelfSTRENGTH app is perceived by older adults living with long-term health problems. A qualitative, descriptive and inductive design. Data, analyzed using a phenomenographic approach, consisted of individual qualitative interviews with older adults (age range = 74–96) conducted before (n = 34) and after (n = 27) participation in the STRENGTH intervention. The results consist of five categories of description: Resistance to use apps and digital tools; Health problems hinder its usefulness; Need of assistance is a prerequisite to be able to use the app; the app supports memory and reflection; and Using the app disperses thoughts and creates motivation. The outcome space thus contains descriptions of both barriers and possibilities regarding how the use of the SelfSTRENGTH app is perceived. The potential of using technology such as applications in health care is immense. However, long-term health problems in older adults, along with care providers’ attitudes and opportunities to support, must be taken into consideration when implementing apps in health and social care.

Spatial reality in education – approaches from innovation experiences in Singapore

Abstract The integration of Spatial Reality technologies in educational settings has gained momentum as a powerful instrument for teaching and learning. While research has consistently shown the significant potential of these technologies in enhancing students’ knowledge acquisition and retention, a phenomenon termed “VR teaching anxiety” persists among many educators, leading to hesitancy in adopting Spatial Reality into their teaching practices. In this paper, the authors shed light on the specific concerns related to VR teaching anxiety reported by educators. To mitigate these anxieties, the authors recount their firsthand experiences with employing Spatial Reality technologies in chemistry education at a higher education institution in Singapore. Additionally, they offer a suite of recommended practices gleaned from their journey, aiming to empower educators to confidently integrate these innovative tools into their curricula.

Ludogenic innovation: How playing incentivizes technological innovation

Play has been an essential element of culture. It comprises forms and parts that intertwine to form complex and meaningful interactions. As an artifact, in the form of games (or video games), it created a massive following and interests, both on personal and organizational levels. An introduction to the term Ludogenic, which blends “ludus” (Latin for play) with “genic” (producing or generating), suggesting the creation or generation of playful and innovative experiences, was proposed as a new paradigm for future technological development in the age of artificial intelligence (AI). This article explores how play and games influence and impact technological advancement and contemporary innovation, eliciting the transformative potential of ludogenic innovation in reshaping technological development, offering insights into future directions for research and application in addressing complex global challenges, and highlighting the enduring impact of play on technological innovation.

Regenerative and innovative processes in the urban and peri-urban area of the city of Rome

Rome stands out for a fragility that stems from the disordered interpenetration of its rural soul with its urban agglomeration. The relationship between city and suburbs still appears complicated today and reverberates on the degree of social cohesion of its inhabitants. Bottom-up experimentation projects are being grafted into the extended area of the capital, reviving disused public property, abandoned land, to eliminate degradation especially in fragile contexts, developing regenerative processes of active citizenship. The purpose of the paper is to underline innovative experiences, in the urban and peri-urban area of Rome, pointing out their actions aimed at sharing common values, developing territorial welfare and protecting the environment.

Research on the Global Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Model Driven by the Integration of Industry and Education

To enrich the theoretical research experience of innovation and entrepreneurship talent training mode in colleges and universities, and build a set of guiding innovation and entrepreneurship talent training systems, this paper deeply discusses the driving mode of the integration of the middle class and education in global innovation and entrepreneurship education, and puts forward specific countermeasures and suggestions for the innovation and entrepreneurship education reform in general higher education schools under the environment of integration of industry and education. These efforts aim to promote the further development of the production-education integration of innovation and entrepreneurship education.

NGO engagement in the creation of public service innovations: A configurational, explorative approach

IMPACT This article offers critical insights for practitioners interested in the evolving landscape of public service innovation. It highlights the significant role that non-governmental organizations (NGOs) play as co-creation partners in government innovation projects, with nearly half of surveyed NGOs participating in such initiatives. Importantly, the study shows that NGOs with experience in service innovation are more likely to collaborate with government, emphasizing the value of past innovation experience in fostering successful partnerships. The authors explain the motivations behind NGO engagement, revealing that improving user experience, gaining insights, and strengthening relationships with government are key drivers. The findings suggest that co-creation is not just about service improvement but also about capacity building for NGOs through knowledge transfer and learning opportunities. Practitioners will benefit from understanding these dynamics, which reinforce the principles of New Public Governance (NPG) by highlighting the importance of collaboration and network-based innovation.

GUCCI is a world-renowned luxury brand that is loved by Chinese consumers. With the development of society and the advancement of science and technology, the competition of luxury brands has become more and more fierce, which has also led to the bottleneck of the sales of the GUCCI brand in the Chinese market in recent years. This article will explore the cultural background of the GUCCI brand, the marketing model for the Chinese market, and the current Chinese luxury market, and use the SWOT model to analyze, read literature, and study individual cases to optimize GUCCI's marketing strategy and derive its methods to adapt to the current Chinese market Through the exploration of this study, it is found that GUCCI can be sold through a combination of online and offline methods, develop brand ambassadors in multiple ways, and use social media for advertising. The construction of the index system for nurses' innovation competence evaluation in China: A Delphi study

BackgroundScientific and technological innovation has become the "key variable" of national social and economic development. Nurses' innovation ability can improve the quality of patient care, thus shorten the hospital stay, reduce the medical costs, and promote the rapid development of the nursing industry. Nowadays nurses have gradually involved in various innovation, but less concerns are focus on the evaluation of nurse’s innovation competence. ObjectiveTo develop evaluation index system for nurse's innovation competence. ParticipantsEleven experts with innovation experience from different regions in China. MethodsLiterature review and qualitative interview were used to establish first version of index system. Then, a two-round Delphi expert consultation was conducted to collect opinions from 11 experts. Then the final version of nurses' innovation competence evaluation index was used in one tertiary hospital for preliminary application. ResultsThe response rate of the two rounds was more than 90%, the expert familiarity coefficient was 0.818, the judgment coefficient was 0.918, and the authority coefficient was 0.868. The two rounds of expert coordination coefficient test showed P < 0.05. The evaluation index system of nurses' innovation competence includes 4 first-level indicators, 9 second-level indicators and 36 third-level indicators. The scores of innovation production and innovation subject were the lowest among all the first-level indicators when use this index for preliminary application. ConclusionThe constructed evaluation index system of nurses' innovation competence are scientific, reliable and practical, and can be used to promote nurse's innovation competence and innovation conversion competence in clinical practice. Hospital managers should pay more attention on cultivate nurse’s innovation competence and provide resources and multi-form platforms to support the nurses with innovative ideas and willingness.

Life-Cycle Analysis of Natural Treatment Systems for Wastewater (NTSW) Applied to Municipal Effluents

The objective of the described activity is to develop technologies or proposals that can be implemented within the cycle to enhance the relationship between climate change, water, energy, and food. The focus is on analyzing natural treatment systems for wastewater (NTSW) within the context of Macaronesia, considering factors such as life-cycle assessment (LCA), carbon footprint, impacts, and mitigation capacity. The analysis of real case data from the Canary Islands and Cape Verde will inform the development of appropriate technologies tailored to different areas and scales within Macaronesia. This work includes a comprehensive life-cycle analysis of the Santa Catarina (Cape Verde) NTSW. This analysis encompasses: (a) Inventory analysis of the construction phase: This involves the assessment of inputs and outputs associated with the construction of the NTSW, including materials, energy consumption, transportation, and waste generation. The maintenance and operation phases are then evaluated, with a focus on the ongoing maintenance and operation activities required for the NTSW, including energy consumption, water usage, chemical inputs (if any), labor, and equipment maintenance. (b) Finally, the impacts of the NTSW are evaluated. The environmental, social, and economic impacts generated by the NTSW are assessed. This includes an analysis of factors such as carbon emissions, water usage, land use, ecosystem impacts, human health effects, and economic costs. By conducting a comprehensive analysis of the Santa Catarina NTSW, the document aims to provide insights into the environmental performance and sustainability of the system. This information can then be used as a tool and experience of educational innovation for final-year undergraduate students to identify areas for improvement, develop mitigation strategies in the water sector, and inform decision-making processes regarding wastewater treatment technologies in Macaronesia. Furthermore, lessons learned from real case studies in the Canary Islands and Cape Verde can be applied to similar regions within the Macaronesia archipelago (IDIWATER project).

Adaptations in Vocational Guidance: Experience from the Colombian Amazon

As we move into late postmodernity, the instruments and processes proposed require research and development processes that allow them to remain in force within current technological mediations and trends. In this context, the instruments that facilitate vocational guidance processes are included. Therefore, this innovation experience arises as a response to the needs present in the Colombian context, based on two objectives: To reduce the number of items in the CHASIDE vocational orientation test, 2) To validate the resulting test. A longitudinal study with a quantitative approach was carried out, with a convenience sampling in three Colombian municipalities during 2019-2023. Quantitative statistical analysis techniques, data were analyzed including statistics of mean, variance, Pearson's correlation coefficient, hypothetical difference of means, degrees of freedom, t-statistic, P(t) and critical value of t (one tail and two tails), and others. Additionally, internal consistency was checked using Cronbach's Alpha. Managing to reduce the test from 98 items to 35 items, preserving its two dimensions (Aptitudes and Interests), with a simpler structure, which responds to a Multifactorial Profile (PM), its validation confirmed the new structure, that established 7 factors for the dimension of aptitudes, constituted by 27 items and 3 factors for the Interests dimension with 8 items. In conclusion, social changes are reflected in factor structures and their groupings within professions, leaving the unifactorial proposed by Holland in the RIASEC, to give way to interactions within aptitudes and interests. Aptitudes being more stable than interests over time.

Feasibility Of Electronic Comics For The Introduction Of Clean And Healthy Living Behaviors At Mulya Fajar Kindergarten, Indragiri Hulu Regency

This research aims to develop an electronic comic (e-comic) as an innovative learning medium for introducing clean and healthy living behaviors at Mulya Fajar Kindergarten in Indragiri Hulu Regency. The e-comic is designed to enhance the interest and understanding of 4-5-year-old children in the importance of maintaining a clean and healthy lifestyle, which is a crucial aspect of early childhood education. The research began with an initial study to gather information and understand the current situation of teaching and learning activities at Mulya Fajar Kindergarten, particularly in the context of teaching about clean and healthy living. The researcher conducted observations and interviews with the school supervisor and teachers to identify any issues in the learning process, especially related to the introduction of clean and healthy living behaviors. The design of the e-comic was planned in stages, considering the appropriate materials for children to learn about clean and healthy living, the amount of information to be introduced, and any obstacles faced by teachers or students in teaching these concepts. The e-comic was created using the Canva platform, which offers a variety of tools for drawing illustrations, applying color palettes, adding text and dialog balloons, and incorporating graphic elements relevant to the theme of cleanliness and health. The final product of this research is an e-comic that has been tested and revised to ensure its quality and effectiveness. The e-comic is intended for use as an electronic learning medium for children aged 4-5 at Mulya Fajar Kindergarten in Indragiri Hulu Regency. The research also includes a statement of originality, confirming that the work is the researcher's own and free from plagiarism, and a validation sheet for the progress of the research project. The e-comic is expected to be a specific product that can be used to introduce clean and healthy living behaviors to young children, promoting interactive visual narratives that can develop children's language skills and creativity, as well as providing teachers with creative and innovative experiences to teach these concepts.

Montenegrin Digital Academic Innovation Hub: Experience in Supporting Digital Health Innovations.

Montenegrin Digital Academic Innovation Hub established within Erasmus+ project DigNEST is essential institutional support for developing innovations in the field of health in academic-business cooperation and partnership. Experience of 18 months in running Hub service provides preliminary results in analysis received innovation ideas, provided support and potentials/capacities in medical informatics advancements at national, regional and global level.
