Assessing University Final Examination Questions Written in English

Test is regarded as a tool to measure the outcome of teaching and learning processes. There are other tools, but tests are still used to a great extent. The objective of the current study is to assess university final examination questions written in English, and College of Education-Shaqlawa has been selected as a sample. The test papers have been received from the Examination Committee of the college. Tests have several properties, but only three properties, namely accuracy, objectivity and scorability, have been chosen to be the criteria of the research. This is because the selected characteristics are general, while the left ones are specific to particular subjects. The procedure of the study is descriptive and analysis. The test papers have been analysed twice for reliability. The researchers have benefited from other researchers’ criteria. It has been detected that the test papers are objective to great extent. This is due to the test techniques that are used by the instructors. Unfortunately, some test papers have been found to be inaccurate. Inaccuracy has resulted from many areas such as grammatical mistakes and punctuation marks. Little attention has been given to the field of punctuation marks. Furthermore, some test papers have been detected to seem strange in terms of scorability. To clarify it, the mark distribution and the total mark of some test papers are not in agreement with the requirements. Finally, the conclusions, suggestions and references have been shown.

Encountering Bias: Examining Biases and Stereotypes in the Evaluation Process Among Expert Psychologists During Specialization Exams.

The study of cognitive biases in job interviews has garnered significant attention due to its far-reaching implications for the economy and society. However, little research has focused on the biases exhibited by expert psychologists serving on psychology specialization examination committees. As such, this study has conducted a comprehensive examination of biases within the specialization exam in Israel. One additional objective of the research is to assess the levels of distress experienced by examinees following the examination. Questionnaires were administered to 418 psychologists participating in the clinical and educational psychology specialization exams. The findings unveiled several noteworthy outcomes. Firstly, several biases were identified, including ethnic stereotypes, biases stemming from cognitive load, and more. Secondly, examinees who presented a cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) case experienced a higher failure rate. Thirdly, a positive association was found between exam failure and personal distress and this effect was stronger for educational examinees compared to clinical examinees. The most intriguing discovery was that all biases, without exception, occurred among clinical psychologists, whereas educational psychologists displayed no biases. This outcome contrasted with initial expectations. Consequently, the present study aims to expand the existing knowledge about psychological biases and stereotypes by elucidate the reasons behind this discrepancy between the two disciplines while considering the advantages and disadvantages associated with a sense of "expertise" in the realm of adult diagnostics.

This article describes the legislative and organisational development of examinations of fitness to teach at secondary schools. Such exams were administered to students of universities and technical universities by the Examination Committee for Teaching at Secondary Schools in Prague in 1850–1950. A committee that examined in the Czech language was established in 1871 by splitting from the German-speaking committee. Since 1870, these examinations had to be taken also by candidates wishing to teach at Realschulen (practically oriented secondary schools). In 1911–1948, these examinations had to be taken by university students who wished to teach at any type of a secondary school.

QR Code as a Google Spreadsheet-Based AKM Supporting Application

An important supporting tool to support AKM is the QR Code (Quick Response Code). QR Code is much more practical and has many advantages over barcodes. This study aims to develop a QR Code supporting tool and determine the feasibility of a QR Code supporting tool as a Google Spreadsheet-Based AKM Supporting Application in Yapenas Gempol Vocational School. This type of research uses Research and Development (R&D), the R&D method used is the ADDIE development model (Analysis, Design, Development or Production, Implementation or Delivery and Evaluations). The research subject is the teacher or the AKM examination committee. The research instrument used was interviews to determine the feasibility of the supporting tools that had been developed. These supporting tools will be validated by 2 validators, namely media experts and content experts. Supporting tools have been validated by media experts and content experts with a percentage of media experts which include media expert validation indicators with navigation indicators of 93%, writing (text) 95%, display 89%, and media presentation 92%. For content expert validation with a display indicator of 91%, and content of 93%. The results of the trial results were obtained from the media display aspect, and the media effectiveness aspect obtained an average of 92% with very high eligibility criteria so that it can be concluded that the supporting tools for supporting AKM can be used to process AKM activities in the next school year and can be used for other assessment activities.

The Award Decision in the Saudi Competition and Government Procurement Law, a Comparative Study

The administrative contract is considered a means by which the administrative body uses it to manage the affairs of public facilities and cover what it needs for that purpose. One of the most important stages it goes through is the stage of opening and examining bids. The Saudi Government Competition and Procurement Law have established dedicated committees for those who open bids and examine bids for that purpose, and the role of the bid examination committee is to recommend awarding the contract to the bidder who wins the competition, and then the award decision is issued by the person with the authority. Here comes the problem regarding the award decision. Is it considered an acceptance on the part of management that matches the offer of the bidder, or is it merely an announcement and acknowledgment of the bidder’s entitlement to the contract and remains the contract is not concluded until it is written and signed by all parties. Here, this study came to address this aspect and clarify what is the position of the legal text on this, and what is the position of the Saudi administrative judiciary on it. It was organized into an introduction, a preface, four sections, and a conclusion that included the most important results, including The Saudi administrative judiciary considers the awarding decision to be an acceptance by the administration and completion of the contract, and that the awarding decision can be appealed by cancellation like the rest of the administration’s decisions. This study recommended that the text of the Competitions and Procurement Law be amended and the ambiguity and lack of clarity in this part be removed.

Establishment of an undergraduate examination committee system, working under the Excel 2013 and Visual Basic environment

We will employ the capabilities of the Excel program and our simple experience in the work of the examination committee over the past years to prepare the examination committee system for undergraduate and programming it to serve the interest of the work of the examination committee in our college in particular and in our university in general. The system prepares for the undergraduate exams committee, and users of the system enter information about the student’s performance in the exams with all its details. There are several buttons in the system to implement different commands according to the exam committee’s needs. The outputs of the system will be all the information requested by the committee, which reduces time and effort and is of high accuracy.

Evaluation Practices of Doctoral Examination Committees: Boundary-Work Under Pressure

The doctorate forms the basis for academic careers and the regeneration of academia, and has increasingly become important for other sectors of society. The latter is reflected in efforts on institutional, national as well as supranational levels to change and adapt the doctoral degree to new expectations. As doctoral education is embedded in research, changes in governance and funding of research further affect the doctorate. The evaluation of the doctoral thesis appears, however, to have remained true to the academic tradition: an examination committee exercising their gatekeeping in a ceremonial setting. This study sets out to explore doctoral examination committees’ evaluation practices. Insights were gained through six focus group interviews with experienced examination committee members at three large research-intensive universities in Sweden. Of particular interest is how the object of evaluation is formed, the nature of the boundary-work conducted, and variations in examination practices related to different and changing conditions for research and doctoral education. Our results show how the object of evaluation emerges through a gradual interpretation of the thesis and defence, becoming more complex and nuanced as the process of evaluation progresses from its initial stages to the final closed discussions of the committee. The finalised object of evaluation, only fully present at the conclusion of the closed meeting and hence transient in nature, encompasses the research contribution, educational achievement, and academic competence of the candidate. Furthermore, the boundary-work conducted in this process often transcends the object of evaluation to include also supervision and the local context for doctoral education and research, and hence contributes to upholding, and potential changing, norms in research fields, educational contexts, and academia at large. This extended boundary-work intensified as problems and inconsistencies were discovered during the evaluation process. The ceremonial staging underscored the gravity of the decision and the extended boundary-work. Despite changing conditions for the doctorate, our findings highlight the importance of the practice of evaluation committees, and the disciplinary communities to which they belong, for upholding and negotiating norms in academia.

Development of a Model for Analyzing the Optimal Utilization of Classroom Space at the Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa.

Managing the distribution of limited resources to meet the needs of people has always been a global issue that faces managers, administrators, business owners, leaders of institution and individuals alike. With the increase in number of students admitted in Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa, with a large population of about 10,000, there would be undue stress on the facilities on campus. The class rooms are not sufficient or adequate and not well-assigned compared to the measurable number of students available. This has given rise to the reduction in the length of time a lecturer spends in class, distractions from students because of classroom proximity, amongst others. These cause extreme distress on the students and lecturers alike as they are unable to study or teach, respectively, to their highest potential as a result of resources or amenities that are inadequate or wanting. Data were collected from Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa Central Examination Committee for 2022/2023 Academic Session. The linear and integer programming methodology was employed. From the result of the linear programming (LP), seven (7) out of the seventy-eight (78) available classrooms has been fully utilized. The study revealed that if the remaining seventy-one (71) classrooms are fully utilized and maximized, they will improve the current objective function with a seating capacity of 4, 640. The result of the integer programming (IP) using the branch and bound method revealed that fourteen (14) out of the seventy-eight (78) available classrooms has been fully utilized. It asserted that if the remaining sixty-four (64) classrooms are fully utilized and maximized they will improve the current objective function with a seating capacity of 7,131. The result of the sensitivity analysis indicates that the entire classroom has an allowable increase thus validating the proposed models. The study therefore concludes that classroom space utilization is being underutilized leading to congestion and overflow in the utilized classrooms.

Evaluating the Academic Performance of Mustansiriyah Medical College Teaching Staff vs. Final-Year Students Failure Rates

Background: Evaluating medical colleges' teaching staff performance is an essential topic for evaluating academic performance. Objective: To assess the academic performance of the teaching staff in the pediatric, surgical, and gynecology branches in comparison to the medicine branch performance from 2014 to 2018. Methods: The total number and the number of failed students being examined in final years were obtained officially from the examination committee in Mustansiriyah Medical College for the final 6th-year students for the four main branches (medicine, pediatrics, surgery, and obstetrics and gynecology). The students' number in the medicine branch was used as the control group against which the performance of other branches was compared. We utilized the odds ratio from meta-analysis statistics and compared student failure and success rates. Results: The odd ratio of pediatric branch performance versus medicine branch was 1.02 with a 95% confidence interval of 0.68–1.53, while for surgery, it was 0.67 with a 95% CI (0.46 to 0.98) and 3.13 with a 95% CI (1.79 to 5.47) for the obstetrics and the gynecology departments. Conclusion: The performance of the pediatric branch was the only one compatible with the performance of the medicine branch. In contrast, both the surgery and gynecology branches significantly deviated from the medicine branch's performance. Further research is needed to pinpoint the causes of these performance deviations.

Hybrid Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) for Preclinical Medical Students in UPM: A Lesson Learnt from COVID-19 Pandemic

The global lockdown caused by the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 necessitated several modifications for objective structured clinical examination (OSCE) to be conducted virtually. Since the reopening of higher institutions post COVID-19 in the year 2022, the teaching and learning methods at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) have reverted to either face-to-face or hybrid modes. Nevertheless, there were circumstances where an adaptation of the virtual OSCE method for a hybrid session had to be arranged, specifically for students who could not physically attend the examination. Therefore, in this commentary, we aim to share the experience of conducting a hybrid OSCE session for preclinical medical students at UPM. It also summarises the advantages and challenges faced by the students, examiners and examination committee, as well as future recommendations, should a similar situation arises in the future.

Architectural solution for the ddp (diploma defense project) web application to document the examination process

Analysis of recent research and publications. The primary source of information about using Ruby on Rails is the official RoR documentation website. After researching scientific papers and textbooks on architecture, theoretical aspects that should be taken into account when developing web services were collected. Research objective. The aim of this work is to investigate existing architectural solutions for automating the work of the examination committee and to develop an architectural solution for creating a software product based on it to increase efficiency and improve the quality of the defense process. Presentation of the main research material. The main stakeholders were identified - the secretary of the commission, commission members, commission chair, academic supervisor, student undergoing defense procedures. The client-customer is considered the department. A questionnaire was proposed for teachers to determine non-functional requirements. This allowed us to better consider their needs and requirements in project development. Analysis of functional requirements (architecturally significant requirements) has been conducted. The requirements define factors that significantly influence the choice of architectural style and tools. The constraints include financial and resource aspects, as well as technical and organizational constraints, which can impact the volume, speed, and possibility of future project development. For the DDP system, the following technology stack was chosen: Ruby on Rails for backend and frontend; Postgres for the database. Additionally, a domain was purchased on the HOSTIA service - lildoc.hhos.net (domain traffic is unlimited, currently valid until 08/22/2025), andplans are in place to purchase database hosting. Github was chosen for version control. The design, class, sequence, activity, entity-relationship diagrams for theDDP system were formed and presented. The defined architecture of the DDP project: - Follows Model-View-Controller (MVC) pattern. - Components: Models, Views, Controllers, Routing, Database (PostgreSQL), User Interface, Authentication and Authorization System, Testing. Conclusions from this study and prospects for further developments in this direction. The article examines existing solutions for automating the secretary of the commission's workplace, presents the results of developing the general architecture of the DDP project based on Ruby on Rails principles and the MVC pattern. A new architectural solution for a web service to automate the work of the examination commission members is presented.

Governance and Intellectual Capital in Companies that Listed on Indonesia Stock Exchange

Intellectual capital disclosure uses VAIC (Value-Added Intellectual Coefficient) disclosure methodology that reveals the company's ability to manage its intangible assets over time. The research was conducted using the sampling method from the financial statements of companies listed on the IDX. The financial statements used are reports from 2017 to 2021. The purpose of this study is to show that there is a significant positive, negative, or marginal effect between the variable 'independent committee' and corporate governance represented by board size. The number of committee members, block ownership and committee size indicate the dependent variable measured by the VAIC (Value Added Intellectual Coefficient) method, namely the frequency of intellectual capital examination and audit committee meetings. The validation of this research is done by analysis method using Eviews and SPSS program. The results showed that independent committee, committee size, and audit committee size have an effect on VAIC disclosure, while block ownership and the frequency of audit committee meetings do not. An Evaluation of the Chinese CollegeAdmission Examination System from the Standpoint of Equity in Public Policy

The provincial education examination institution mandate system for Chinas college entrance examination was approved by the relevant national department or is implementing an independent proposition. It is uniformly dispatched by the Ministry of Education and implemented and managed by the provincial enrollment and examination committees. Its nature dictates that social justice must exist. The battle for college entrance exams has grown more intense as the number of exams for admission to colleges continues to rise. Then came the sociological phenomenon of immigrants taking college admission exams. This article will use the phenomenon of college entrance examination immigration as an illustration to explain the need for its public policy for the equitable distribution of social value through a thorough analysis of college entrance examination admissions. The fairness of the new college entrance exam system must be continually improved. To take into account the interests of all parties and maximize the overall efficacy of public policy, social values must be distributed fairly.

Diplomate in Medical Laboratory Immunology Certification Examination: A New Chapter for Medical Laboratory Immunology.

It is indeed a privilege to be an immunologist in what is arguably the golden age of immunology. From astounding advances in fundamental knowledge to groundbreaking immunotherapeutic offerings, immunology has carved out an enviable niche for itself in basic science and clinical medicine. The need and the vital importance of appropriate education, training, and certification in clinical immunology was recognized by the World Health Organization as far back as 1972. In the United States, Ph.D. scientists with board certification in medical laboratory immunology have served as directors of high-complexity Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments- and College of American Pathologists-certified clinical immunology laboratories since 1977. From 1977 to 2017, board certification for medical laboratory immunology was administered by the American Society for Microbiology through the American Board of Medical Laboratory Immunology examination. The American Board of Medical Laboratory Immunology examination was phased out in 2017, and in the fall of 2019, the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Board of Certification (BOC) examination committee took on the responsibility of developing a new doctoral-level certification examination for medical laboratory immunology. This transition to the ASCP BOC represents a well-deserved and much-needed recognition of the rapid advances in and the highly specialized nature of medical laboratory immunology and its ever-increasing relevance to patient care. This new ASCP BOC certification is called the Diplomate in Medical Laboratory Immunology, and, as of April 1, 2023, it is now available to potential examinees. In this report, we describe the examination, eligibility routes, and potential career pathways for successful diplomates.

The Transfer of Land Rights Uses the Selling Power of Official Certifier of Title Deeds (Case of Supreme Court Decision Number 3017 K/PDT/2019)

The act of the Certifer of Title Deeds transferring the right to the land owned by the seller using the Deed of Power of Attorney to sell, a legal problem arises when transferring land rights by using the selling power of attorney from the Certifer of Title Deeds based on Government Regulation Number 24 of 2016 on. Amendment to Government Regulation No. 37 of 1998 concerning Regulations for the Positions of Officials Making Land Deeds. (Case Study Supreme Court Decision No. 3017 K/PDT/2019 JO Decision of the Central Examination Committee Number08/B/MPPN/IX/2018) and the responsibility of the Certifier of Title Deeds who transfer land rights by using the power of attorney. (Case Study of Supreme Court Decision Number 3017 K/PDT/2019 JO Decision of the Central Examination Committee of Notaries Number 08/B/MPPN/IX/2018). This research uses normative juridical research. The research results obtained that the transfer of rights to land using power of attorney for sale, binding sale-purchase agreement, and disposal of object certificates of owner Bachelor of Law only have the power of underhand deed so that cancellation can be requested. Based on the Decision of the Central Examination Council of Notaries Number 08/B/MPPN/XI/2018 Notaries and Certifer of Title Deeds Muhammad Irsan, Bachelor of Law was imposed administrative sanctions that have been by statutory regulations and Supreme Court Decision No. 3017 K/PDT/2019 can be examined in more depth regarding the main points of the case and is subject to sanctions for unlawful acts as the legal basis for the lawsuit.

Legislating to Control Online Hate Speech: A Corpus-Assisted Semantic Analysis of French Parliamentary Debates

This corpus analysis of linguistic and semantic features in French parliamentary debates concerning online hate speech regulation, highlights tensions between state powers and private rights. Two key themes are identified: first, the problem of definition: how such online content is defined in the debates, and second, the problem of regulation: how the debates negotiate the supra-jurisdictional and individual jurisdiction issues involved, in regulating both the global online content and the responsibilities of the owners of the platforms who manage the content. For this analysis, the authors created a corpus of French National Assembly Examination Committee discussions and public sessions between July 2019 to January 2020 discussing the Loi Avia (Avia Law). The corpus was analysed using quali-quantitative methods. Overall, the study combines a top-down (global) and a bottom-up (local) analysis of the data, applying corpus semantic approaches (Lecolle et al. in Langages 210(2):35–54, 2018; Rastier in The Routledge handbook of semantics, Routledge, pp 507–522, 2015) to contextualize the analysis of the meta-discourse (Hyland in Meta-discourse: exploring interaction in writing, 1st ed. Bloomsbury Academic, Bloomsbury Collections, 2018. https://doi.org/10.5040/9781350063617). The analysis highlights the linguistic features revealing the power dynamics inherent within the discourse and counter-discourse of the dominant and opposition political parties respectively.

The Results of the State Examination Committees’ work at the Faculty of Geology of Lomonosov Moscow State University in 2022

The paper summarizes the results of the state exams as well as of the defenses of bachelors’ and mas- ters’ theses in the field of “Geology”. In 2022, the state examination committees worked in person. They considered 155 master’s and 178 bachelor’s theses. In 2022, the Faculty of Geology prepared master specialists in “Digitalization in the field of fossil fuel geology” for the first time; 156 master’s students passed the state exam in the field of “Geology”; 177 bachelor’s students passed state exams in the respective fields; 89 master’s students and 47 bachelor’s students graduated with honors. State examination committees worked systematically, in a well-organized and active manner.
