By targeting the high-end community in Semarang, Serotonin will focus on the highest segment in the economy class in Semarang. One of the regular events of this Event Decoration is the weddings and birthdays, therefore, this final project is designing three thematic concept which are chinese and traditional concept for wedding event and steampunk for birthday party. This even itself will be attended by a lot of people as guests so it takes marvelous decoration besides the event itself should not be boring as well. Serotonin will improving the requirement of design complexity for the events that are not faced by other Decoration Event that usually limited to the decoration itself, therefore this will be the main difference between Serotonin with other similar companies. Interior Architecture background also will affecting in design process from the design stage up to final design presentation that will be our distinctive characteristic.

Os conhecimentos dos organizadores de eventos em primeiros socorros

The presented article is intended to discuss the importance of knowledge of first aid for the event organizers, understanding that this knowledge is crucial for unexpected events. The main objective of this study was to investigate the knowledge of the organizers of events in first aid and to achieve therefore first took place literature searches and document verifying the concepts of events, first aid and law. In a second step, are described major emergencies and emergency events and listed as a question in the questionnaire, finally, through the application of the survey instrument was shown that the behavior of the event planner in urgent and emergency. As a result of the research it was found that no previous knowledge about first aid, but it is not sufficient to meet adequately the situations and emergency events. Concluding the study, suggested the creation of a permanent reference material on first aid for event organizers and specific training for this audience.

The GoodNEWS (Genes, Nutrition, Exercise, Wellness, and Spiritual Growth) Trial: A community-based participatory research (CBPR) trial with African-American church congregations for reducing cardiovascular disease risk factors — recruitment, measurement, and randomization

Introduction Although cardiovascular diseases (CVD) are the leading cause of death among Americans, significant disparities persist in CVD prevalence, morbidity, and mortality based on race and ethnicity. However, few studies have examined risk factor reduction among the poor and ethnic minorities. Methods Community-based participatory research (CBPR) study using a cluster randomized design — African-American church congregations are the units of randomization and individuals within the congregations are the units of analysis. Outcome variables include dietary change (Diet History Questionnaire), level of physical activity (7-Day Physical Activity Recall), lipoprotein levels, blood pressure, fasting glucose, and hemoglobin A1c. Results Eighteen (18) church congregations were randomized to either a health maintenance intervention or a control condition. Complete data were obtained on 392 African-American individuals, 18 to 70 years of age, predominantly employed women with more than a high school diploma. Treatment and intervention groups were similar at baseline on saturated fat intake, metabolic equivalent of tasks (METS) per day, and other risk factors for CVD. Conclusions The GoodNEWS trial successfully recruited and evaluated CVD-related risk among African-American participants using a CBPR approach. Several logistical challenges resulted in extending the recruitment, preliminary training, and measurement periods. The challenges were overcome with the assistance of a local community consultant and a professional event planner. Our experience supports the need for incorporating non-traditional community-based staff into the design and operational plan of CBPR trials.

Physiology Understanding Week: Developing a national outreach program

Physiology Understanding (PhUn) Week is the annual APS member‐based outreach program that fosters partnerships between physiologists and K‐12 teachers. PhUn Week seeks to increase student awareness of physiology in their lives and to introduce them to physiology as a possible career. The successful development of the program models how formative evaluation is instrumental. Pilot tests in 2005 concentrated on select APS members and teachers committed to the new initiative. The program was moderately expanded in 2006 by doubling the targeted numbers of participants. Formative assessment in this phase helped design a program website (www.PhUnWeek.org) with downloadable resources, including event planner forms, instructional materials, and career presentations. Planning partners and their teams adapt the models of outreach and develop innovative activities. After pilot testing for feasibility, the program was nationally launched in 2007. More than 3,000 students, 72 teachers, and 100 APS members participated in 32 events across 24 states and Puerto Rico. The program website has facilitated the processes for coordinating a PhUn Week event. The early years of the program have seeded a base of volunteers that continues to build momentum for the participation of other physiologists and teachers. The APS sponsors and funds the outreach program since conception with additional support from ADInstruments.

Design iterations for a location-aware event planner

We present the user-centered design and testing process of a mobile, location-aware event planner. Using questionnaires, interviews, and discussions with potential users, we investigated the ways individuals plan social events, such as business meetings, dinners and gatherings, and perform the attendant communication tasks. We catalogued the contextually dependent ways in which people plan their meetings and informal social events and devised a wide range of conceptual sketches to address our potential users’ professed needs. We developed a preliminary PDA-based prototype based on clear conceptual entities (people, places, locations and events) and designed to support short interaction sequences and large maps. Its evaluation with a group of nine participants provided qualitative feedback and prompted an interface redesign. This development process taught us a number of interesting lessons applicable to this category of location-aware applications, which we report at the end of the article. The set of design recommendations can assist designers in the development of location aware systems.
