The standardisation of interfaces is an important step along the path to designing integrated process chains. Following the introduction of new, standardised technologies such as FlexRay and Autosar, the automotive industry will have to adjust their processesaccording to the new requirements. However, whereas in the past event-driven bus systems allowed a certain degree of flexibility when managing signal databases, the change to time-triggered systems requires a new way of thinking. In addition, driver assistance in modern cars further increase the number of network and signal connections. The information technology sector provides well known means for the development of distributed functions. Such an approach is known as service oriented communication. ESG describes a way to transfer this concept to the automotive sector and the impact on the development process.
