Patient Consent and The Right to Notice and Explanation of AI Systems Used in Health Care

Given the need for enforceable guardrails for artificial intelligence (AI) that protect the public and allow for innovation, the U.S. Government recently issued a Blueprint for an AI Bill of Rights which outlines five principles of safe AI design, use, and implementation. One in particular, the right to notice and explanation, requires accurately informing the public about the use of AI that impacts them in ways that are easy to understand. Yet, in the healthcare setting, it is unclear what goal the right to notice and explanation serves, and the moral importance of patient-level disclosure. We propose three normative functions of this right: (1) to notify patients about their care, (2) to educate patients and promote trust, and (3) to meet standards for informed consent. Additional clarity is needed to guide practices that respect the right to notice and explanation of AI in healthcare while providing meaningful benefits to patients.

Etika Periklanan dan Perlindungan Anak dalam Iklan Mie Sedaap Papa Hidup Lagi

In Indonesia's advertising context, upholding ethics is a crucial aspect for practitioners. The Indonesian Advertising Council recognizes the importance of ethics in creating advertisements that are not only creative but also ethical. As a strategic instrument in marketing communication, advertising must prioritize ethics when conveying messages to the public. Creating ethical ads requires specific methods to conform to established standards. This article evaluates ethical violations in the 'Papa Hidup Lagi' edition of Mie Sedaap's advertisement. This study will examine scenes that allegedly violate the advertising code of ethics in detail. This study uses a qualitative approach with content analysis techniques and data validity is strengthened with supporting related reference sources. Based on the research results, it was found that the 'Papa Hidup Lagi' edition of Mie Sedaap's advertisement violated Indonesian Advertising Ethics, especially Chapter. III A, article 3.1, sub-article 3.1.2 deals with depicting children in situations that are misleading or inappropriate to be shown. In addition, this advertisement violates the Chapter. III A, point 1.27 states that the benefits of a product must be conveyed honestly, correctly, and responsibly, and not add other benefits beyond the product's capabilities.

KONTEKSTUALISASI PENAFSIRAN SURAT AL-HUMAZAH DI ERA DISRUPSI (KAJIAN TAFSIR TEMATIK)

This research examines the correlation between Surah Al-Humazah and the contemporary era of disruption. Bullying, which is detrimental, occurs in various contexts, including schools, workplaces, and the online world. Its impacts are detrimental to victims physically, psychologically, and emotionally. Prevention efforts require collaboration from various parties, including educational institutions, workplaces, communities, and parents. Demonstrating wisdom, patience, and engaging in constructive dialogue, as exemplified by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), remains relevant in addressing bullying, even in the current era of disruption. Further research is needed to gain a deeper understanding of this issue, such as contextualizing the interpretation of Surah Al-Humazah in the era of disruption. The aim of this research is to examine Surah Al-Humazah in the context of the present time. The research method used is Library Research, employing a Qualitative Descriptive Analysis approach. Findings from this research indicate that Surah Al-Humazah condemns those who spread slander and mockery, affirming the concept of punishment in Hell for offenders. Although interpretations by scholars may vary, they all condemn negative behavior towards others. Hell is depicted as a destruction that reinforces the trait of arrogance. In the era of disruption, the analysis of this Surah emphasizes the importance of ethics in human interactions, particularly in the digitally influenced technological landscape. This Surah serves as a warning against negative behaviors such as defamation and slander, which are increasingly prevalent in contemporary times. The analysis of this Surah encompasses a deep understanding of the impact of negative behavior in the digital era, the social responsibility of leaders, information manipulation on social media platforms, and the psychological impact of such detrimental behavior. This Surah emphasizes the importance of values such as justice, integrity, and spiritual morality in everyday life. A profound understanding of Surah Al-Humazah can contribute to the creation of a more harmonious and fair society amidst the ongoing evolution of social dynamics.

How Islamic work ethics predict work engagement: a double mediation model

PurposePositive work attributes and moral behaviors are vital for creative organizations, their people and sustainable work systems. The twofold purpose of this study is first, to describe the concept and importance of work ethics in the light of Quranic verses, and second, to examine the link that explains how Islamic work ethics (IWE) predicts work engagement in an individual. A dual mediation path is identified and tested.Design/methodology/approachData were collected using a cross-sectional design, and a sample of 373 health-care employees provided empirical evidence for the conceptualized model.FindingsResults showed full mediation for both mediators, meaning individuals demonstrating higher IWE have strong cognitive and emotional resources that help them to immerse in work constructively. Data was analyzed using SPSS V.16. Implications and future directions are further discussed.Originality/valueThis paper contributes to the scant area of identifying IWE consequences in contemporary organizations and extends the understanding of work engagement by linking it with an affective resource as a potential mediator in the mechanism.

The treatment of the deaths of Maria Aurèlia Capmany and Montserrat Roig both in the media and in the various commemorative events and initiatives organised in the months and years that followed generate rich and nuanced understanding of the public weight of these two women writers as well as providing insights into approaches to literary afterlives and commemoration in the Catalan cultural scene of the 1990s. This article is based on careful scrutiny of the various texts and discourses produced in memory of two emblematic women writers and public figures who themselves recognised the political and ethical importance of such practices of commemoration. It is followed by reproduction of an article written by Roig herself in memory of Capmany shortly before her own passing.

This research provides a fairly comprehensive picture of the importance of understanding adolescent morals in the social context of society, especially in Purbasari Village. Among the emphases discussed are the role of adolescent morals in social interaction, the urgency of fostering adolescent morals, and the impact of community perceptions on adolescent morals. Descriptions of the definition of adolescence, social change, and the pressures faced by adolescents provide a strong foundation for the reader's understanding of the relevance of this research. This study aims to determine the community's perception of adolescent morals and to determine the morals of adolescents in Purbasari Village, Tapian Dolok Subdistrict, Simalungun Regency. The method used in this research is a descriptive quantitative method that provides a good structure in describing the results of the research. The data collection technique in this research is in the form of observation and distributing questionnaires using a Likert scale. Data validity in this study uses validity and reliability data analysis. The results showed that the community's perception of adolescent morals from the religious, social, and ethical aspects provided deep insight into how the community in Purbasari Village assessed adolescent morals in social interaction. Furthermore, the discussion of community perceptions of adolescent morals provides good insight into the social dynamics in society, the factors that influence community perceptions, and the factors that influence community perceptions.

Of criminals and cancer: The importance of social bonds and innate morality on cellular societies

The current dogma in cancer biology contends that cancer is an identity problem: mutations in a cell's DNA cause it to “go rogue” and proliferate out of control. However, this largely ignores the role of cell-cell interaction and fails to explain phenomena such as cancer reversion, the existence of cancers without mutations, and foreign-body carcinogenesis. In this proof-of-concept paper, we draw on criminology to propose that cancer may alternatively be conceptualized as a relational problem: Although a cell's genetics is essential, the influence of its interaction with other cells is equally important in determining its phenotype. We create a simple agent-based network model of interactions among normal and cancer cells to demonstrate this idea. We find that both high mutation rates and low levels of connectivity among cells can promote oncogenesis. Viewing cancer as a breakdown in communication networks among cells in a tissue complements the gene-centric paradigm nicely and provides a novel perspective for understanding and treating cancer.

Mubadalah's Perspective Family Education In Realizing The Maslahah Family

This study aims to apply the concept of maslahah family education in everyday life, emphasizing the importance of educational values and good morals in every family interaction. Maslahah family education seeks to build a harmonious family by instilling positive values that can serve as a guide in facing various situations and challenges in life. Each family member is expected to apply these values in real actions, creating an environment conducive to personal growth and development. In dealing with family problems, it is important for each member to discuss and deliberate in order to reach a mutual agreement. Good communication is key in this process, where every opinion is valued, and individual egos do not become obstacles in finding solutions. The mubadalah approach, which emphasizes equality and justice, can be a strong foundation in resolving family conflicts. By deliberating and prioritizing common interests, family issues can be effectively resolved. This study uses a field qualitative method, recording various problems encountered in the field and analyzing them descriptively using supportive references. The results show that the approach of deliberation, discussion, and good communication can resolve family issues without prioritizing personal egos. The application of the maslahah family concept in society can be a solution to maintain the integrity of the household, while the mubadalah approach can be used as an effective method in finding solutions to various family problems.

Tri Hita Karana Culture Moderate: Good Corporate Governance and Morality in Fraud Prevention

The aim of this research is to determine the influence of Good Corporate Governance and Morality on Fraud Prevention in LPDs throughout Sukawati District directly or moderated by the Tri Hita Karana culture. The population in this study was LPDs in Sukawati District, totaling 33 LPDs with respondents for each LPD consisting of Leaders/Chairmen, Treasurers, Financial Administration Staff and Internal Supervisory Bodies. The sampling technique used was a saturated sampling technique where research data was collected through the results of distributing questionnaires and analyzed using the Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA) analysis technique. The research results state that Good Corporate Governance has a positive effect on Fraud Prevention. Morality has a positive effect on Fraud Prevention. Tri Hita Karana Culture is a moderating variable that strengthens the influence of the Good Corporate Governance variable on Fraud Prevention. Tri Hita Karana Culture is a moderating variable that strengthens the influence of the Morality variable on Fraud Prevention. The results of this research can provide practical contributions to interested parties, namely LPD managers and village behavior as LPD owners. LPD can increase awareness and understanding of the importance of good corporate governance and morality in preventing fraud. Training related to Tri Hita Karana cultural values ​​can also be provided to employees to strengthen commitment to ethical and responsible practices.

All economic activities, such as production, distribution, consumption, and international trade, are directed by divine principles and aim to gain God's approval. In an era of globalization that tends to ignore morals and ethics, Yusuf al-Qardhawi emphasizes the importance of Economic Ethics, which he considers to be the guardian of economic sustainability. This research uses a qualitative approach to explore and explain qualities and social aspects that cannot be measured quantitatively. The scientific method used is library research, which relies on data and information from various sources in the literature. From a production perspective, Islamic Economics encourages everyone to work diligently and compete to find work, because this is considered an obligation and honor, as well as the right of every individual. In the consumption aspect, the wise use of wealth is emphasized, remembering that ownership of wealth is not the main goal, but rather a means to enjoy God's gifts. In distribution, the main principles are freedom and justice. Freedom in this case rejects oppression that hampers the lives of ordinary people and controls their sources of sustenance. Justice is defined as appropriate placement in the position that it should be.

Pengaruh Management Etika dalam Lingkungan PIAUD Sekolah Tinggi Agama Islam Ibnu Ruysd Kotabumi

This research aims to examine the influence of ethical management on the learning environment in Early Childhood Education (PIAUD). Good ethical management is thought to be able to create a positive, safe learning environment and support children's holistic development. The research method used is a quantitative method with a survey design. The population of this study were all teachers and parents of students at PIAUD Husnul Amal Kotabumi. Samples are taken randomly from the population., Data was collected using a questionnaire consisting of questions about ethical management and the learning environment. Data analysis was carried out using descriptive statistics and linear regression to test the effect of ethical management on the learning environment. The research results show that ethical management has a positive and significant influence on the learning environment in PIAUD. Teachers who consistently apply ethical values ​​in teaching and interacting with students succeed in creating a learning atmosphere that is more comfortable, safe and supports children's development. These findings indicate that good ethical management is an important factor in creating a conducive learning environment in PIAUD., This research suggests that PIAUD managers implement clear ethics policies and carry out strict supervision to ensure their implementation. Apart from that, training for teachers regarding the importance of ethics in education is also recommended to improve the quality of the learning environment.

ABSTRACT This paper reads the period film Begum Jaan (Mukherji, 2017) for its portrayal of Partition of the Indian subcontinent as an event of gendered and sexual violence. In doing so, it explores the biopolitics of sex work at the historical juncture of 1947 and examines how the birth of nations accompanies the devaluing of women’s lives over their unraped bodies. Focusing on the political and ethical import of the sex workers’ resistance against eviction in the film, it highlights the precarity of women within the institutional mechanisms of an incipient nation.

Wondering Animals: Reflections on Human Exceptionality

Both historically and in common human practices, attitudes, and beliefs, a sense of human exceptionality in comparison with other animals undergirds normative anthropocentrism, i.e. prioritization of human interests. The question I wish to address in this article is whether we can use a particular element of the cognitive apparatus or toolkit that supposedly makes us special, namely our s e n s e of wonder, to decenter us. Several authors have argued that when we view other beings or the natural world with wonder, we are inclined to care for and wish to protect them. But here I am interested in what happens when we turn our sense of wonder onto ourselves as the peculiar animal, the strange evolutionary experiment that we are. Not, as has historically been done, in an admiring way, but in an evaluatively more neutral way, characterized by puzzlement, an attunement to mystery, and a sense of unlikeliness and contingency. In particular, how might our thinking about ourselves change when we think from a wonder that revolves around our embodiment, around that which roots us most firmly in the world, in “nature,” and reminds us most clearly of our membership of a community of earthly life? Wondering at and about ourselves as an animal species may remind us of our material embeddedness in the world, but what could its ethical import be? More specifically, the paper explores whether there is an escape from the ethical quandaries of human exceptionality, which relate to the impossibility of doing with or without that exceptionality. I argue that there is not, but that in wonder we can hold together incompatible possibilities.

Harmonizing Islam, Culture, and Science Education: Efforts to Prevent the Secularization of Religious and General Knowledge

This study aimed to elucidate the Islamic religious values present in science education in schools. Islamic Education (PAI) serves as a benchmark in every aspect of education in schools, particularly regarding the morality of students. Furthermore, Islamic Education is consistently juxtaposed with various other subjects, with the hope that the subjects accompanying it can impart positive values to the students. The research methodology employed was a qualitative approach using a literature review. Descriptive content analysis was utilized to analyze the data, enabling the results to address the research questions. The findings indicate that Islamic values in science education can provide a paradigm regarding the holistic concept of human beings and instill the importance of morality in every learning process for students. Therefore, Islamic content and science education can coexist to achieve good learning quality and cultivate morally upright and virtuous students.

Hasyim Asy'ari's educational philosophy emphasizes the importance of morality, ethics, and the integration of Islamic values into the curriculum. Embracing a classical approach, he advocated for curricula based on the Qur'an and Hadiths, as well as traditional teaching methods in pesantren. The study also underscores his views on the responsibilities of students and the ideal characteristics of teachers, along with a holistic approach to educational evaluation. Conversational Accessibility

Conversations between healthcare workers and patients are of ethical import and ought to be regarded as a significant healthcare practice in their own right. Yet patients’ ability to voice concerns about their care to a healthcare worker should not be taken for granted. Drawing on Merleau-Ponty’s embodied and interpersonal conception of human agency, I argue that phenomenology as a critical practice enables us to recognize that conversations with others, much like physical spaces, are places whose accessibility is not guaranteed. I then examine how issues of conversational accessibility are at play in the larger context of public health research and how we might rethink existing practices in light of community-based participatory research.

The importance of good teacher ethics in the educational process is able to create a positive and productive educational environment that can affect academic learning, moral and social development for students. This research aims to: 1) find out the intraksi between teachers and students according to the book tadzkirotus sami' wal mutakallim fi adabil alim wal muta'alim; 2) knowing good teacher manners so that they are channeled and can set an example as a good example for students; 3) knowing the internal and external factors that can contribute to the teacher so that there is a misappropriation that affects the image of the teacher. This study uses a strong research approach where the type of research is library research. The results of this study show that: 1) good interaction between teachers and students in the book tadzkirotus sami' wal mutakallim fi adabil alim wal muta'alim, one of which is by sincerely intending to seek the pleasure of Allah SWT, patience, and gentleness. In addition, students are taught to always be polite to anyone, as well as interact positively which is emphasized to form relationships full of moral and ethical values. 2) Good teacher ethics can certainly create a positive and productive learning environment, including professionalism and providing a good example to form a good character in students. 3) Internal factors include a lack of ethical awareness and emotional pressure, then external factors, namely economic demands and lack of supervision that can result in the emergence of unethical behavior. To prevent these abuses, it is necessary to increase ethical leadership and increase supervision of character education for teachers and students.

However, the central focus of individuals on the modern home, its design, and its furnishing during the second decade of the state's existence is evidence of its dominant position and its cultural, emotional, and ethical importance among the emerging Israeli bourgeoisie. As in Western European countries following World War II, the modern Israeli home expressed a desire to disconnect from a violent, crisis-filled and painful past and to build a new, modernist and, most importantly, stable future. Alongside government authorities and planning bodies, citizens, tenants, and families took advantage of design books and the guidance and advice provided by interior designers, architects, and self-proclaimed household management experts in order to participate in the design of the home.
