RESUMO Objetivo: Identificar o perfil epidemiológico de mulheres que optaram pelo parto domiciliar planejado em um município localizado no norte de Santa Catarina e apresentar os principais desfechos maternos e neonatais. Método: Pesquisa quantitativa, transversal, com coleta de dados retrospectiva e documental, realizada em 66 prontuários de mulheres que tiveram parto domiciliar planejado de janeiro de 2012 a março de 2020, em Joinville. Os dados foram organizados em tabelas e analisados de maneira descritiva. Resultados: As mulheres que optaram pelo parto domiciliar planejado têm média de 31 anos de idade, são, majoritariamente, brancas, casadas, com ensino superior completo, multigestas, planejaram a gestação e realizaram o pré-natal adequadamente. Os desfechos maternos e neonatais foram positivos, com baixa taxa de transferência, sendo nenhuma neonatal, e nenhum caso de morbidade materna. Conclusão: As evidências constatadas demonstraram-se satisfatórias para a implementação de um novo modelo de atenção à saúde da mulher e da criança.

The epidemiological profile of women with breast cancer at the Reference Center Lalla Salma of Tiznit

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women. It occupies first place in most countries. To describe the epidemiological profile of breast cancer at the Lalla Salma Tiznit reference center. A retrospective study was conducted at the said center. Based on the exploitation of the files of patients with breast cancer. The data were collected over four years with a stratified sample of140 cases. The main obtained an average age of 60 years, 60% were married, the average age of the first menstruation was 12 years, 36% of patients were on the pill and 18% had a history of hormonal treatment. Multiparous women represented 34% and pouciparous women 42%. In addition, 90% of the cases had been breastfed. In this sense, the study proposes to promote a better organization of health care systems for isolated populations, emphasizing the importance of early detection to avoid advanced and metastatic stages that can be fatal.Keywords: epidemiological profile, breast cancer, women, Tiznit

Primary postpartum haemorrhage at the Libreville University Hospital Centre: Epidemiological profile of women.

In Gabon, the proportion of maternal deaths directly related to Primary PostPartum Haemorrhage (PPPH) is 15 to 25%, despite the different means that the World Health Organization has made available to the providers of Emergency Obstetrical and Neonatal Care (EmONC). The objective of this study was to determine the prevalence and epidemiological characteristics of Primary PostPartum Haemorrhage to improve its management and reduce the rate of maternal deaths. An analytical retrospective study involved 42,728 records, whose data were collected using a chart collection form on the basis of information contained in partograms and other patient records. Sociodemographic variables were expressed using percentage. The relationship between the etiologies of PPPH and certain characteristics of the women was established using the ORs with their 95% confidence intervals. The difference was significant if p < 0.05. The prevalence of PPPH was 1.6%. Delivery haemorrhages accounted for 65.5% of PPPH. The main factors associated with delivery haemorrhages were pauci parity and multiparity (p = 0.003 and 0.051), post-term (p = 0.042), and birth weight >4,000 g (p = 0.006). Those associated with genital tract injuries were young maternal age (p = 0.008) and multiparity (p = 0.028). The most common etiology was haemorrhage from delivery. Multiparity remains the most common risk factor and the young age of the patients. It is important to improve management through better assessment of blood loss in the primary postpartum period as well as capacity building of health providers on EmONC.

Epidemiological profile and pain degree in women who inserted intrauterine device

The intrauterine device (IUD) is a long-acting reversible contraceptive (LARC) option and has a low cost to the health system. It is an excellent cost-effective strategy for contraception. This study aimed to characterize the epidemiological profile of women who had an IUD inserted, in addition to evaluating the degree of pain during insertion, correlating it with age and obstetric variables. This is a retrospective study with women who inserted an IUD in a reference service in Sergipe between November 2018 and February 2021. Information such as age, number of pregnancies, deliveries and abortions before IUD insertion, pathology or reason for IUD indication, pain scale, hysterometry and wire size after insertion was analyzed. The study included 346 women who inserted copper IUDs and 47 who inserted hormonal IUDs. The mean age of patients was 27.1 years and 33.7 years, mean pain was 4.6 and 5.5 and mean hysterometry was 8.29 and 8.55, respectively. It was noticed that more than 60% of women had at least one pregnancy prior to insertion of the device, in both cases. There was no correlation between pain level and age and parity. Most women who inserted IUDs were in the post-adolescent phase. In addition, most had already had at least one previous pregnancy and experienced moderate pain during IUD insertion.

Abstract Background Syphilis is a chronic systemic infectious disease that is subject to acute outbreaks and latency periods when left untreated. It is an infectious disease produced by a bacteria, Treponema pallidum, of predominantly sexual transmission. The inclusion of syphilis in pregnancy as a sexually transmitted infection with compulsory notification is justified by its high prevalence rate and high vertical transmission rate, which ranges from 30% to 100% without adequate treatment. Congenital syphilis is a result of the hematogenous spread of Treponema pallidum, an untreated or inadequately treated pregnant woman, through the placenta, which causes miscarriages or child and fetal deaths. Our objective was to draw an epidemiological profile of women, living in Belém / PA, notified by syphilis during pregnancy and who developed infant or fetal death in 2017 and 2018. Methods This is a descriptive epidemiological study. Two information systems were used, the Mortality Information System (MIS) and the Notification Record Information System (NRIS). At MIS, all child and fetal deaths of residents of Belém in 2017 and 2018 were selected. In NRIS, we selected all cases of pregnant women notified by syphilis in 2017 and 2018, also resident in the municipality. Subsequently, the two banks were compared to verify whether pregnant women notified for syphilis evolved with infant or fetal death. Data were analyzed according to age, race, education, gestational period, length of treatment of pregnant women, whether the partner was treated and the type of death of the children. Results We found 32 women with reports of syphilis in pregnant women, of whom 81% developed fetal death and 19% had infant death. 63% were between 20 and 29 years old, 88% were brown, 75% were in the third trimester of pregnancy when they were notified, 25% had incomplete elementary school and 25% had incomplete high school. 72% were treated with 7,200,000 IU of Penicillin G Benzathine. 59% of cases were not performed in the treatment of the partner. Conclusions Most of these women are young, poorly educated, and despite appropriate treatment, their partners have not been treated and may have been reinfected and passed on the infection to their children. Introduction: In Brazil, for the 2020–2022 triennium, the estimated incidence of breast cancer in women was 66,280/year. It is the most incident type of cancer in all Brazilian regions. Several risk factors are associated with the probable etiology of breast cancer, though the complexity of the disease makes it difficult to define its main cause. Objective: To investigate the prevalence of factors associated with breast cancer in an outpatient population at a public hospital in the Federal District, and to verify the epidemiological profile of this population to compare the data obtained with data published in the literature. Method: This is a descriptive cross-sectional study, with 115 participants diagnosed with breast cancer undergoing treatment in a highly complex unit of oncology care in the Federal District between July and October 2020. Data collection was done through a questionnaire. The electronic medical record was consulted to complement the data. Results: The majority of women were brown, married, with an average age of 52. Hormone therapy was reported by 73.9%, early menarche by only 33.9% and late menopause by 25.2%. Most had children before the age of 30 and more than 80% breastfed. A family history of breast cancer was present in 30.4% of the sample. The consumption of alcoholic beverages was reported by more than half of the women, but the use of cigarettes was denied by the majority. The practice of some physical activity before the diagnosis of cancer was reported by 69.6%. Most were overweight or had some degree of obesity. Non-special invasive carcinoma was the most common type. Conclusions: This study showed that the main factors present in the sample were: advanced age, alcohol consumption, use of hormone therapy and overweight.

Collection was performed in 2019, in an institutional bank, submitted to frequency measurements, chi-square test, 95% confidence intervals, significance level of 0.05. women aged 40-59 years (47.2%), white (93.3%); with elementary school (65%); cervical cancer (78.5%); stages II-III (73.3%) figured prominently. In the comparison of staging proportions in the topography variable, a higher proportion of malignant neoplasm of cervix uteri unspecified in the grouped III-IV staging (84.6%). the profile analysis shows the need for screening and health education for prevention and/or early detection of gynecological cancers and training of nurses specialized in radiotherapy to care for women's health.

Sociodemographic and epidemiological profile of women users of a psychosocial attention center

Objective: This study aimed to analyze the sociodemographic and epidemiological profile of women with mental disorders, emphasizing the gynecological, reproductive and sexual aspects. Method: A cross-sectional study, carried out at the Psychosocial Attention Center, with 31 women, aged 18 years or more, undergoing regular treatment. A data collection instrument in a structured format was used and data were analyzed using the SPSS software, version 18.0. This project was approved by one Research Ethics Committee under registration CAAE 56546216.0.0000.5195. Results: There was a predominance of women in drug therapy (96.8%), low sexual activity (61.3%), high adherence to cervical cancer screening test (74.2%) and low adherence to family planning (77.4%). Conclusion: An integral care provided to women with mental disorders, users of the Psychosocial Attention Care, requires an alignment among the policies of integral attention to women's health and mental health, through matrix support with primary health care.

Indicadores de salud mental en mujeres de zonas migratorias (Zacatecas) con o sin pareja migrante

La Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS) reconoce que la migración se ha convertido en un problema de salud pública; al mismo tiempo, se ha identificado el grado de vulnerabilidad de las mujeres que radican en los puntos de origen. Por tal motivo, el objetivo de esta investigación fue conocer la prevalencia de los indicadores de salud mental en mujeres de zonas migratorias (Zacatecas), con pareja migrante o no, y comprobar el efecto protector de tener una pareja no inmigrante. Para ello, se aplicó el cuestionario “Perfil epidemiológico de la mujer con pareja migrante en zona tradicional y emergente de alta incidencia migratoria en el estado de Zacatecas”. Se utilizó la categoría de indicadores de salud mental, es decir, una escala tipo Likert, con un alpha de Cronbach de 0.897, una validez de 98.3%, una varianza de 118.636 y una desviación estándar de 10.89201 a una muestra de 279 mujeres de los municipios de Jerez y Juan Aldama; de la población mencionada 144 fueron mujeres con pareja no migrante y 135 mujeres con pareja migrante. A través de los análisis estadísticos de prueba de hipótesis, de independencia, intervalos de confianza, estadísticas de contraste, valor de significancia y r para ambos grupos de mujeres, se encontró que las mujeres con pareja migrante presentan mayor prevalencia en los indicadores de hostilidad y ansiedad, además, el efecto protector de tener una pareja no inmigrante influye en los indicadores de depresión, sensibilidad interpersonal y somatización.

Clinical and epidemiological profile of women with breast cancer managed in a public referral hospital in northeastern Brazil.

To evaluate the clinical and epidemiological profile of women with breast cancer, managed in the Breast Service at Hospital Get6lio Vargas (HGV). A descriptive, observational cross-sectional study, involving 174 breast cancer patients, managed at the Breast Service at HGV in Teresina, in the northeast of Brazil, from May 2011 to June 2014. Epidemiological variables included age group, age at menarche, age at first childbirth, and menopause. The tumor characteristics studied were histological type, TNM classification, and staging. The results were organized in distribution tables. Breast carcinoma was more common in patients aged 60 and over, in multiparous women, and in women who were menopausal before age 55. The most common histological type was ductal invasive carcinoma T2N1MO (Stage IIB) in 83 (48%) women. The current study shows that the majority of carcinomas were Stage II or advanced tumors, with clinically positive axillary lymph node status and weak correlation with reproductive risk factors.

Objectives Analyze the epidemiological profile of women who died from hypertensive syndrome (HS) and its contribution to this problem for maternal death overall in the Santos region. Methods Data was provided by the Ministry of Health of Brazil in www.datasus.gov.br (accessed in June/2014). The survey was conducted in the information system about the death in Santos (priority region of the state of Sao Paulo in the period 2002–2012. The number of maternal death was divided into maternal death in pregnancy, delivery and abortion and maternal death in puerperium up to 42 days, considering all causes of maternal death and identifying the proportion of deaths due to hypertensive syndromes (HS). Some epidemiological aspects of these women were analyzed including the place of residence. Results In the period analyzed (2002–2012) we investigated a total of 174 maternal deaths, of which 34 (19.54%, 63.12 ration) occurred due to hypertensive syndromes. 0069: Prognosis of heart failure in the Moroccan woman

There are differences between heart failure (HF) of women and that of men in terms of epidemiology, pathophysiology, treatment and quality of care. The aim is to analyze the epidemiological profile of women follewed by HEART FAILURE THERAPY UNIT (HFTU) at the cardiology center Ibn Rochd in Casablanca. See how they are optimized therapeutically and demonstrate that the female is an independent prognostic factor. We report a retrospective study composed of 1500 patients followed in HFTU between January 2007-to May 2013. On 1500 patients were 525 women and 975 men. The average age of women was 58±4 years versus 62±4 years in men. 38% of women were diabetic and 36% hypertensive.10% of women had at least one coronary lesion confirmed versus 28% for men. Therapeutically only 45% of women were optimized (full dose of beta-blocker-IEC-spirinolactone) versus 78% in men. After 1 year of follow-up there were 4. The results of our study are similar to those of the few studies and prognosis seems to be better among women, although the mechanism is not well understood.

Relationship Between the Annual Mammography Implementation and Early Diagnosis of Breast Cancer

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the practice of screening tests for breast cancer among women with the disease and identify whether the recommendations were followed with regard to risks in addition to the association between high risk, screening tests and tumor staging. METHODOLOGY: Were included 100 women with breast cancer in different staging, mean age 58.38 ± 11.13 years, ranging from 37 to 82 years. Data were collected by interview, model question vs. answer, guided by an instrument developed by the researchers. RESULTS: Just over half of cases (n=58, 58.0%) performed mammography annually. Moreover, 37.0% (n=37) had never performed the examination until the time of diagnosis. Among the risk factors related to reproductive life, early menarche reached almost half (n=46, 46.0%) and late menopause occurred in only 16.25% (n=13) of postmenopausal women. Comparing the two groups that reported realization (annual or biannual) or not of mammography, there was no significant difference in the initial stage (IIa) or advanced (IIb, III or IV) between the groups. Moreover, among the cases with positive family history of breast cancer (n=16) and were diagnosed with advanced disease, 62.5% (n=10) underwent mammography at an annual or biennial. DISCUSSION/CONCLUSION: The frequency of the test does not require initial stages mammography in diagnosing the disease and the risk factors associated with family history and characteristics of their reproductive life. Our results demonstrate the need for further research and development of new practices for tracking a consensus covering the new epidemiological profile of women affected by breast cancer.

Risk of low bone density in women attending menopause clinics in Italy

Objective: In order to offer data on the epidemiological profile of women with low bone density (LBD), we have considered information collected in the framework of a large cross-sectional study conducted on women around menopause attending a network of first level outpatients menopause clinics in Italy. Methods: During 1997 and 2000, a large cross sectional study was conducted on the characteristics of women around menopause attending a network of first level outpatients menopause clinics in Italy for general counseling about menopause or treatment of menopausal symptoms. Eligible for the study were women consecutively observed during the study period. Up to March 2000 a total of 42 464 women (mean age 53 years) were observed at the 268 participating centers. Bone mass density was measured in 25 113 cases, which are considered in this analysis. LBD (i.e. osteopenia or osteoporosis) was defined according to WHO classification. Results: The frequency of LBD increased with age: in comparison with women aged ≤51 years, the odds ratio (OR) of LBD was 1.5 and 2.2, respectively, in women aged 52–55 and ≥56. No association emerged between LBD and parity: in comparison with nulliparae, the OR of LBD were 1.1 and 1.0, respectively, in women reported 1 or 2 or more full term pregnancies. Smokers were at increased risk of LBD, the corresponding OR being for smokers, in comparison with non smokers, 1.2 (95% confidence interval, CI, 1.1–1.3). In comparison with women in the lower tertile of body mass index, the OR of LBD decreased in subsequent tertiles, being, respectively, 0.9 and 0.7 in the middle and highest tertile. The OR of LBD was 2.2 in postmenopausal women, in comparison with premenopausal ones and the OR decreased increasing age at menopause. Ever OC users were at slightly decreased risk of LBD: in comparison with never OC users, the OR was 0.9 (95% CI 0.8–1.0) in ever OC users. Conclusion: The results of this large study confirm, in a Souther European population, the association of age at menopause and body mass on the risk of LBD, and suggest that ever OC women are at decreased risk of LBD.

The epidemiological profile of women with an interval cancer in the DOM screening programme

Risk factors for breast cancer were compared in 107 women with interval breast cancer (cancers occurring within 2 years after a negative screen) and 258 women with breast cancer detected at 1st screening. All women (aged 40-67) were screened in the DOM project (the Utrecht programme for the early detection of breast cancer). Women with an interval cancer reported more often a history of benign breast disease (OR 4.66, 95% C.I. 2.08-10.41) and an artificial menopause (OR 4.07; 95% C.I. 1.74-9.55) than women with a screen detected cancer. Women with an interval cancer were taller than women with a screen detected cancer; this was seen most clearly in women with an artificial menopause (chi 2 for trend = 5.88; p = 0.02) and to a lesser extent in premenopausal women (chi 2 for trend = 1.70; p = 0.19). Premenopausal women with an interval cancer were heavier than women with a screen detected cancer (chi 2 for trend = 4.66; p = 0.03); whereas natural postmenopausal women with an interval cancer were leaner than women with a screen detected cancer (chi 2 for trend = 1.57; p = 0.21). All analyses were done while correcting for age and selected other risk factors for breast cancer. These results suggest that the epidemiological profile of pre- and post-menopausal women with an interval cancer differs from that of women with a screen detected cancer, which might imply a different natural history of these two types of breast tumours.
