Validity of project-based teaching module to empower students' environmental caring character

Environmental problems caused by waste and exploitation of natural resources can be exacerbated by a lack of awareness and concern for the environment. One of the contributing factors is the lack of utilization of learning resources and environmental-based media in education. This study aims to develop and validate a teaching module based on the PjBL (Project-based Learning) model to increase students' environmental awareness, especially on the topic of environmental change. By using the 4D Model, this study uses quantitative descriptive analysis involving validation by two experts. The validation values ​​for learning plan, learning media, and students' worksheet were 3.48, 3.52, and 3.45, respectively. The results of the recapitulation of validity data show a total score of 3.48 with a valid category. It was concluded that teaching modules based on project to improve environmental character are worthy of being applied in Biology learning at school.

Students' perceptions of the vermicompost as a potential contextual learning resources

Biology learning must strengthen the character of students caring for the environment concerning general and domestic waste. Domestic waste in the form of fecal sludge is a contextual environmental problem that must be managed properly. Sludge still has a fairly high concentration of nutrient content that can be utilized. The purpose of this study was to determine students' perceptions of the benefits of vermicompost as a source of contextual biology learning. As many as 239 public and private junior high school students in Metro City participated in filling out the online questionnaire. The questionnaire was developed by referring to the environmental care character criteria from the student's perspective which includes five main indicators, namely concern for the environment, responsible attitude, student knowledge about vermicompost, student motivation for contextual learning, and commitment to developing vermicompost. Data were analyzed descriptively referring to the critical success factors (CSFs). The results of the research showed that there were 5 student perceptions regarding the character of caring for the environment, namely students gave a strongly agree perception of 38.31%, a agree perception of 41.06%, a somewhat agree perception of 18.19%, a disagree perception of 2 .04, and strongly disagree at 0.40%. Students' perceptions of their environmentally caring character are influenced by many factors, namely students' knowledge and understanding of human fecal sludge and its benefits, a sense of responsibility for environmental sustainability, and students' level of education. Those who understand environmental sustainability and the benefits of fecal sludge have the perception that fecal sludge can be utilized through vermicompost and this process can be utilized as a contextual learning resource.

Sosialisasi Penerapan Prinsip 3R (Reduse, Reuse and Recycle) dalam Menumbuhkan Karakter Peduli Lingkungan di Kampung Panggang Kota Serang

The accumulation of waste or throwing it carelessly into open areas will result in soil pollution which will also have an impact on groundwater channels. Waste must be handled from the source, namely from producers by applying the 3R principles of Reuse, Reduce and Recycle. Because without public awareness, the basic principles of an environmentally friendly lifestyle such as the 3Rs are difficult to implement and no matter how sophisticated the technology applied, the results will also never be optimal, which ultimately results in wasted budget funds. To provide knowledge and insight to the community about the importance of village cleanliness, hazardous waste management and prevention of infectious diseases, Community Service activities were carried out in socialization and training to the community of Kp. Panggang Serang City Banten. The goal is to foster the character of environmental care in Kp. Panggang. This activity was attended by 41 people and involved 2 students of the Islamic Broadcasting Communication Department, Faculty of Da'wah. The results of the implementation of this PKM activity are expected to add insight to the community of Kp. Panggang regarding environmental cleanliness, waste management and the application of the 3Rs. The results of this activity can be concluded that this PKM activity can add insight to facilitators in Kp. Panggang Serang City Banten, especially regarding waste management and to Foster Environmental Care Character is an initial effort to realize an eco-village through community empowerment starting with handling waste independently through the 3R method.

ENVIRONMENTAL CARE: THE STRENGTHENING CHARACTER EDUCATION THROUGH ISLAMIC RELIGIOUS EDUCATION (IRE) DEVELOPMENT

Dogmatic Islamic Religious Education (IRE) learning in schools seems to lack of attention to environmental issues. Thus, IRE needs to incorporate environment issues. This study aims to analyze the concept and implementation of strengthening environmental care character education through IRE development as well as its implications in framework of eco-culture formation, using MTsN 1 Sumenep and SMPN 2 Larangan Pamekasan as case studies. Using a qualitative approach with a multi-site study design, This research used interviews, observations, and documentation in collected data. The research findings show that the concept of strengthening environmental care character education through IRE development describes efforts to strengthen environmental care character holistically-integrated through curricular, co-curricular, and self-development activities. While its implementation is carried out through 4 stages, namely design which includes identifying the types of activities, developing environment-based IRE study materials, preparing supporting facilities; implementation which includes integrated PAI learning, school management, and student development activities; monitoring and evaluation is carried out through supervision activities and monthly meetings; follow-up refers to school self-evaluation. While the implications can be seen from 3 aspects; the improvement of educational services, changes in learner behavior, a decrease in school operational costs and the existence of class funds.

Peran Pendidikan Karakter dalam Menciptakan Sikap Peduli Lingkungan Siswa di SMP PGRI 35 Serpong

This socialization is motivated by the importance of shaping the character of environmental care. Environmental care character is an effort to instill a sense of care for the environment. The character of caring for the environment is needed by everyone because by protecting the environment and caring for the environment will cause the environment to feel comfortable, avoid disease and prevent environmental damage. The school environment is the foremost educational institution in developing character education. Through school, the processes of forming and developing student character are easily seen and measured. Teachers need to teach character education at school to students because not all students get character education at home, one type of character education that needs to be applied at school is the character of caring for the environment. Seeing the importance of the character of environmental care is very necessary to be instilled early on to students starting from elementary school and junior high school. Teachers play a very important role in shaping character at school because the process of student interaction at school happens a lot with teachers, teachers are figures who are digugu and imitated by students. So the purpose of this study is to examine more deeply how the role of teachers in shaping students' environmental care character, supporting and inhibiting factors for the role of teachers in shaping students' environmental care character.

Innovations in the Development of Environmental Care Character of Vocational High School in the 21st Century

This research explores groundbreaking innovations in fostering environmental stewardship within school institutions during the 21st century. In today's world, there is an increasing global emphasis on sustainable living and environmental stewardship, which necessitates the integration of these values into the educational structure, especially at the primary level. By examining various pedagogical strategies, curriculum enhancements, and community engagement initiatives undertaken by educators in Vocational High Schools (SMK), particularly SMK Negeri 1 Ampek Angkek, this study aims to foster a deep sense of environmental responsibility among students. Through a comprehensive review of contemporary practices, this research aims to identify successful models and best practices that contribute to effective environmental character development. The findings from this study not only offer valuable insights for educators and administrators at SMK Negeri 1 Ampek Angkek, but also contribute to a broader discussion on the integration of environmental education into the primary and religious education systems in the 21st century. Ultimately, this exploration serves as a catalyst for advancing environmental literacy and advocacy within educational settings, empowering students to become conscientious stewards capable of addressing the ecological challenges of our time. By nurturing a generation of environmentally conscious individuals, educational institutions can play a pivotal role in fostering a sustainable future for all.

Application of Environmental Care Character Values for Class XI Students at SMAN 13 Surabaya

Human disregard for the environment leads to environmental issues that exacerbate natural disasters. One of the most crucial elements in developing good character in pupils is their lack of recognizing the requirement of defending the environment. In order for nation’s future country, especially the students of SMAN 13 Surabaya, to be good citizens and people of character, they must learn the importance of protecting the environment. Descriptive qualitative research is being conducted to find out how environmentally caring character values are taught to students, how teachers can help students develop these values, and what supports and prevents the application of environmentally caring character values at SMAN 13 Surabaya. Study participants were SMAN 13 Surabaya instructors and students. gathering information through documentation, interviews, and observation. The outcomes proved that the character values of environmental care were successfully implemented for grade XI students at SMAN 13 Surabaya. It is obvious in the ways that it grows in accordance with signs, such as students bringing water bottles from home, riding motorcycles in the morning, and putting trash in the proper location. The teacher's job is to provide an example, instill habits, and provide direction. The involvement of school personnel, the infrastructure and facilities, and the environmental activities' habituation are the supporting aspects. The impact of student living and the lack of time for maintaining the environment are the barriers.

IMPLEMENTATION OF COMMUNITY-BASED ENVIRONMENTAL CARE CHARACTER IN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STUDENTS

The current environmental equilibrium requires global and national solutions. This study aims to evaluate the implementation of community-based environmental character care in Umbulharjo State SD 2, as well as its supportive and inhibitory factors. This research uses a type of descriptive research qualitative approach. The research subjects consisted of the head of the school, parents, CFP accompanying, teachers, and students of class VI A at the Umbulharjo State SD 2. Data collection on the study was done through observations, interviews, and documentation. The validity of the data in this study uses source triangulation and triangulation techniques. The data is then analyzed using a data analysis model according to Miles and Huberman that includes data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion and verification. The results of this study show that the implementation of community-based environmental caring character in pupils in Umbulharjo State SD 2 was realized through the collaboration of parents and OISCA. Collaboration is carried out through community-based character-enhancing education implementation measures that include: 1) Identification and analysis of school needs; 2) Identifying community participation; 3) building networks and collaboration; 4) designing character enhancement educational activities; 5) Program implementation; 6) Program evaluation; and 7) Maintaining the sustainability of collaboration. Factors supporting the collaboration include the availability of extensive land, the enthusiasm of school citizens, and the presence of support from partners. Implementation of community-based environmental caring character in Umbulharjo State SD 2 through collaboration between parents, OISCA, and schools, highlights the importance of active participation of the community in addressing environmental gaps at the local level.

PROGRESIVITAS ILMU PENGETAHUAN DAN TEKNOLOGI DALAM PENGEMBANGAN KARAKTER PADA PESERTA DIDIK

This research aims to analyze research articles on the progressivity of the application of science and technology to the development of students' character This research is a literature study using the Narrative Literature Review method. Data sources come from reputable international journals contained in the Scopus database, accessed through scopus.com, using keywords that have been determined from the initial study, namely Science and Technology and character. The research period covered the last 4 years (2019-2023) and the scope in the country of Indonesia, where 4 articles were obtained that fit the research objectives. From the analysis of the journal articles, some important information was found, including the author's contribution, diagnostic methods used, and content relevant to the research topic on the relationship between Science and Technology and character. The results found are (1) Using ICT-based Learning Media in introducing and teaching about the character of environmental care to students (2) Using LCD media and learning resources from the internet for problem solving of moral and social situations represented visually in the form of animated sketches. (3) Using a digital technology-based evaluation system Automated Short Essay Scoring directly affects students' confidence and character (4) Implementing a 15-minute reading system using ICT by browsing learning websites before learning can increase confidence to learn.

Strengthening the Character of Environmental Care Based on Local Wisdom in Coastal Communities

Environmental care character is an attitude and action to prevent damage to the surrounding natural environment, and develop efforts to repair natural damage that has occurred. Local wisdom is part of cultural values that live in the minds of most people, so it is believed and always guides behavior. The purpose of this research is to analyze the form of strengthening the character of environmental care based on local wisdom in coastal communities. This research uses a qualitative approach, with descriptive research methods. The results of this study concluded that strengthening the character of environmental care based on local wisdom in coastal communities is an innovation in developing community attitudes, skills, and knowledge about the environment.

Ecological Literacy of Students Based on Local Wisdom Handep in Developing Environmental Care Character of Grade IX Students at SMP Negeri 4 Palangka Raya

In facing the 4.0 era which is marked by rapid technological developments and climate change, environmental sustainability has become a crucial issue that requires serious attention. This research aims to foster an environmentally caring character through understanding ecoliteracy based on local Handep wisdom, a practice of mutual cooperation in Kalimantan society. The Action Research Method with a qualitative approach was used to involve class IX students, teachers and parents at SMP Negeri 4 Palangka Raya. Ecoliteracy materials were developed by utilizing local Handep wisdom, focusing on understanding, knowledge, attitudes and behavior based on ecology. The research results show that Handep-based ecoliteracy material can increase students' awareness about caring for the environment and good resource management. Apart from that, this material can also increase students' interest in developing environmentally caring character. Applying ecoliteracy with a local wisdom approach can help students overcome environmental problems in a more effective way. The process of increasing understanding and application of knowledge through this method displays positive results in forming environmentally caring character at the secondary school level. Therefore, ecoliteracy materials based on local wisdom can be used as an effective alternative for developing environmentally caring character, good resource management, and overcoming environmental challenges in schools, making a positive contribution to increasing the environmental awareness of the younger generation in this technological era.

Digital Short Story Literacy and the Character of Environmentally Concerned Students

The research aims to explore the influence of digital short story literacy on environmental care character through moderation of reading interest. It is a quantitative study that measures the influence of digital short story literacy on environmental care character. The study involved 270 participants as a sample using a purposive sampling technique. The data collection technique for this research was a Google Forms questionnaire. Data analysis used the Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) software version 27. The results show that digital short story literacy has a significant influence on environmental care character. The effect of digital short story literacy on environmental care character is significant in statistics. However, reading interest does not present a moderately successful influence of digital short story literacy on the environmental care character. This research contributes to designing curriculum education with special attention paid to the inclusive aspects of digital literacy and environmental short stories to create a conscious and responsible generation’s answer to environmental preservation. More studies need to be conducted about this subject including the additional amount of higher education needed in the regions where natural disasters happen more frequently, as well as more engagement originating from participants who are studying social sciences. In the industrial sector, it is recommended to collaborate with students to make documentaries from digital short stories to promote environmental preservation.

Implementasi Program Adiwiyata Terhadap Karakter Peduli Lingkungan di SD Inpres Ta’binjai Kabupaten Gowa

The objective of this research is to describe the implementation of the Adiwiyata program in fostering environmental care characters at SD Inpres Ta'binjai, Bontonompo District, Gowa Regency. The study aims to serve as an evaluative tool for Adiwiyata schools regarding environmental care characters that still need improvement within the school environment. Employing a qualitative descriptive method, data collection techniques encompass interviews, observations, and documentation. Data analysis involves data reduction, presentation, and drawing conclusions. The findings reveal that the implementation of the Adiwiyata program in shaping environmental care characters among students at SD Inpres Ta'binjai has been effectively executed. The school has integrated its policies into its vision and mission. Environmental education activities are participatory, involving all school elements—teachers, staff, and students. Noteworthy environmental facilities include accessible sinks in each classroom, eliminating the need to travel to distant bathrooms, and medicinal plants on campus for student health. The implementation showcases outstanding and agile initiatives such as green campaigns and health campaigns. Overall, the research underscores the successful integration of the Adiwiyata program in nurturing environmental care characters among students at SD Inpres Ta'binjai, Bontonompo District, Gowa Regency, with commendable environmental initiatives and facilities.

Penguatan Pendidikan Karakter terhadap Sikap Peduli Lingkungan Siswa Kelas III di MI Ta’lim Mubtadi 1

This research focuses on strengthening character education on the environmental care attitude of third grade students at MI Ta'lim Mubtadi 1, Cipondoh. The purpose of this study is to analyze the application of strengthening character education for students' environmental care and its obstacles. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method. Data collection methods used observation, semi-structured interviews and documentation. Using source and technique triangulation to validate the data. Data analysis is done through data collection, reduction, data display and conclusions. The results showed that the implementation of strengthening character education for environmental care attitudes was integrated through learning planning, learning processes and learning assessments, as well as school programs. This activity is oriented towards habituating the character of environmental care so that it becomes a good habit that is carried out without coercion and its implementation is class-based, school culture-based and community-based. The obstacles are the lack of awareness in students to keep the environment clean and the lack of cooperation between the school and parents in providing an understanding of the importance of environmental care attitudes.

Pembentukan Karakter Peduli Lingkungan Siswa pada Sekolah Adiwiyata (Studi Kasus di Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Miftahul Ulum Kota Batu)

The adiwiyata program is a program that contains policies regarding environmentally sound schools as outlined in the Minister of Environment regulation no. 5 of 2013 concerning guidelines for the implementation of Adiwiyata. The Adiwiyata program aims to shape human character with environmental insight by creating an adequate environmental condition, both in science and in facilities and infrastructure related to good environmental management. Environmental care character is an attitude of caring for the environment by improving the quality of the environment, increasing school community awareness about the importance of caring for the environment and having initiatives to prevent environmental damage. The adiwiyata program is suspected of contributing to the formation of students' environmental care character. The purpose of this study was to analyze the formation of environmental care character of Madrasah Adiwiyata students at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Miftahul Ulum in Batu City.This research is a type of descriptive qualitative research. The population of this research is all students of Madrasah Miftahul Ulum Batu City, while the research sample is 100 students in class VI. The data in the research is descriptive, which is presented in the form of words. Research data retrieval is done by observation, interviews and documentation.The results show that the environmental care character of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Miftahul Ulum students has been formed with indicators (a) Maintaining the cleanliness of the classroom and school environment, (b) Supporting the go green program in the school environment, such as taking care of plants and using sufficient electricity, (c) ) Sorting organic and non-organic waste along with differentiating its shelters, and (d) Maintaining the cleanliness of the bathroom, water and hand washing areas.Keywords: Adiwiyata, Care for the Environment

Development of Android-Based Green Ecology Learning Media to Improve the Environmental Care Character of High School Students in the City of Mataram

This research aims to develop green ecology learning media products based on Android and their influence on the environmental care character of students. This research is development research using the design instructional ADDIE model. The research subject is high school students in Mataram City. The research design used a non-equivalent control group design. The data collection technique used a validation questionnaire to assess the feasibility of Android-based green ecology learning media, teacher and student response questionnaires to assess the implementation of learning using the developed product and learning achievement tests and environmental care character questionnaires to measure the effectiveness of product development. Data analysis techniques in this study were carried out using descriptive statistics using percentages (%) and inferential statistics using ANCOVA (Analysis of Covariance) at a significance level of 5% (p <0.05). The results showed that: (1) the android-based green ecology learning media developed was valid (91.0%) and practical (82.9%), (2) the implementation of android-based green ecology learning media showed environmental care character outcomes better compared to conventional learning, and (3) the results of the ANCOVA test (Analysis of Covariance) show that android-based green ecology learning media influences students’ environmental care character (Sig.0.000<0.05). Thus, the developed android-based green ecology learning media can improve the environmental care character of high school students in Mataram City.

Environmental Care Character Building Strategy

This study aims to evaluate the implementation of Environmental Education at State High School 1 Gondangwetan Pasuruan in line with the implementation of the independent curriculum. The method used is a qualitative descriptive method, where the researcher collected data through direct observation at the school and interviews with teachers and students as the sources of information. Data analysis was conducted using the Miles and Huberman approach, which involved data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study show that State High School 1 Gondangwetan Pasuruan is a school that has been recognized as an Independent Adiwiyata school by implementing environmental education effectively. The implementation of environmental education is carried out through the integration of the curriculum in various subjects, including Biology, Indonesian Language, English Language, Entrepreneurship, Arts, and Culture. Environmental-related materials have been incorporated into the teaching and learning process of these subjects with the aim of transforming students' mindset towards the environment. Furthermore, State High School 1 Gondangwetan Pasuruan also engages students in extracurricular and cultural activities that support environmental education. Some of the activities carried out include leaf composting, plastic waste management using the ecobrick method, and the establishment of a waste bank. Through these activities, students are actively involved in environmental conservation efforts and waste management. This study highlights the novelty of integrating environmental education within the independent curriculum implemented at State High School 1 Gondangwetan Pasuruan. It showcases the school's innovative approach to incorporating environmental-related materials into various subjects, fostering a comprehensive understanding of environmental issues among students.

The Value of Character Education in Short Stories in the High Grade Elementary School Indonesian Language Module and Its Relevance to Learning at SDN 03 Tiumang

This research is motivated by the eroding phenomena of the value of character education that occur in the school environment at this time. Therefore, this study aims to describe the values ​​of character education contained in the short stories in the high grade Indonesian Language Module at SDN 03 Tiumang and their relevance to the school environment. This type of research is qualitative using descriptive analysis method. The data sources of this research are short stories in the Indonesian Language Module class IV and V SDN 03 Tiumang, namely the short story Dayu and Ornamental Fish, Air Pollution, Working Together in Diversity and Differences Are Not Barriers.. Data collection techniques by: (1) Reading and understanding short stories, (2) searching for data containing character education values ​​in short stories, (3) inventorying, identifying, and classifying data with character education values. The results of this study indicate that there are 18 data, namely the value of discipline character education (3), the value of responsible character education (4), the value of independent character education (2), the value of environmental care character education (1), the value of creative character education (3) , the value of religious character education (3), the value of tolerance character education (2). So there are 18 sentences of character education values ​​in the short story.

Implementation of Environmental Care Character Education in Children Aged 5-6 Years

Providing education is a process of acculturating and empowering students that lasts throughout life. In this process, the role of educators is needed who is able and willing to be a role model, build abilities, and develop students' potential and creativity. The type of research used is a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. This research aims to provide an overview of the Implementation of Character Development. Based on the results of research on the implementation of environmentally caring character education at Bakti IV Bubutan Islamic Kindergarten, Surabaya, the process of implementing environmentally caring character education was carried out by integrating environmentally caring character education into learning activities. This is indicated by the curriculum content used at the Bakti IV Bubutan Islamic Kindergarten, Surabaya, which refers to candy. And the scientific approach in the Merdeka 2020 PAUD Curriculum learning tools for character education already contains character values, starting from CP (learning outcomes), TP (learning objectives) in addition to the semester program and weekly activity plans which already contain character values. Based on the results of the analysis and discussion, the author can draw conclusions regarding the process of developing environmentally caring character in children through the habituation method used by teachers at the Bakti IV Bubutan Islamic Kindergarten, Surabaya.

Implementation of the Adiwiyata Program to Build Environmental Caring Character in Elementary School Students

The Adiwiyata program is a program to create an ideal living environment for students in order to achieve learning goals between teachers and students. The aim of this research is to analyze the implementation of the Adiwiyata program in building environmentally caring characters in students. Descriptive qualitative research with a case study approach was used in this research. Because the provincial-level Adiwiyata Program had just been introduced, the research location was at SDN 176 Pekanbaru. The results of this research show that when the Adiwiyata activity program is put into practice, student character is not the only thing that is important. They also need to have a disciplined attitude towards the environment, understand their responsibilities towards the environment, and get used to these activities from an early age. So that, in the end, it becomes a positive culture and children's environmental awareness becomes embedded in their daily lives.
