Response and adaptations made by the integrated child development services stakeholders towards the digitalisation of its record keeping systems of the Anganwadi centres in urban Gujarat, India

Initiated on 12th February 2018, Anganwadi centres (AWC) of Gujarat adapted the integrated child development services common application software (ICDS-CAS), for real time monitoring and record keeping, for Anganwadi workers (AWWs), Anganwadi supervisors (AWS) and the child development project officers (CDPO).This application was abruptly discontinued in September 2020 and replaced by ‘Poshan tracker’ ,a mobile based application, launched by the ministry of women and child development, government of India on 1st March 2021. Documentation of challenges and benefits due to shift to software-based record keeping system by frontline workers of ICDS in urban Gujarat. Informal meetings were held with stakeholders like the CDPO, AWS and AWWs to discuss the challenges faced due to digitalisation of record maintenance. We planned to conduct two focused group discussions (FGD) for the same purpose. FGDs were conducted at two different Anganwadi, within city corporation area. Audio recordings of both FGDs were repeatedly played and analysed to prepare qualitative report. ‘ICDS-CAS’ didn’t store older records so the AWWs had to refer to their older registers. The software was English based but AWWs preferred Gujarati(local) language. ‘Poshan tracker had no ‘auto-update’ and ‘delete’ option, to rectify inaccurate entries. One could easily view all the information in one glance. Software database had compiled data from anganwadi, removing the need for supervisors to separately contact each AWWs for an anganwadi data. It was concluded that elder AWWs preferred old register entry system, while the younger AWWs preferred the software data entry system.

A FinnGen pilot clinical recall study for Alzheimer’s disease

Successful development of novel therapies requires that clinical trials are conducted in patient cohorts with the highest benefit-to-risk ratio. Population-based biobanks with comprehensive health and genetic data from large numbers of individuals hold promise to facilitate identification of trial participants, particularly when interventions need to start while symptoms are still mild, such as for Alzheimer’s disease (AD). This study describes a process for clinical recall studies from FinnGen. We demonstrate the feasibility to systematically ascertain customized clinical data from FinnGen participants with ICD10 diagnosis of AD or mild cognitive disorder (MCD) in a single-center cross-sectional study testing blood-based biomarkers and cognitive functioning in-person, computer-based and remote. As a result, 19% (27/140) of a pre-specified FinnGen subcohort were successfully recalled and completed the study. Hospital records largely validated registry entries. For 8/12 MCD patients, other reasons than AD were identified as underlying diagnosis. Cognitive measures correlated across platforms, with highest consistencies for dementia screening (r = 0.818) and semantic fluency (r = 0.764), respectively, for in-person versus telephone-administered tests. Glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) (p < 0.002) and phosphorylated-tau 181 (pTau-181) (p < 0.020) most reliably differentiated AD from MCD participants. We conclude that informative, customized clinical recall studies from FinnGen are feasible.

Completeness and consistency of primary outcome reporting in COVID-19 publications in the early pandemic phase: a descriptive study

BackgroundThe COVID-19 pandemic saw a steep increase in the number of rapidly published scientific studies, especially early in the pandemic. Some have suggested COVID-19 trial reporting is of lower quality than typical reports, but there is limited evidence for this in terms of primary outcome reporting. The objective of this study was to assess the prevalence of completely defined primary outcomes reported in registry entries, preprints, and journal articles, and to assess consistent primary outcome reporting between these sources.MethodsThis is a descriptive study of a cohort of registered interventional clinical trials for the treatment and prevention of COVID-19, drawn from the DIssemination of REgistered COVID-19 Clinical Trials (DIRECCT) study dataset. The main outcomes are: 1) Prevalence of complete primary outcome reporting; 2) Prevalence of consistent primary outcome reporting between registry entry and preprint as well as registry entry and journal article pairs.ResultsWe analyzed 87 trials with 116 corresponding publications (87 registry entries, 53 preprints and 63 journal articles). All primary outcomes were completely defined in 47/87 (54%) registry entries, 31/53 (58%) preprints and 44/63 (70%) journal articles. All primary outcomes were consistently reported in 13/53 (25%) registry-preprint pairs and 27/63 (43%) registry-journal article pairs. No primary outcome was specified in 13/53 (25%) preprints and 8/63 (13%) journal articles. In this sample, complete primary outcome reporting occurred more frequently in trials with vs. without involvement of pharmaceutical companies (76% vs. 45%), and in RCTs vs. other study designs (68% vs. 49%). The same pattern was observed for consistent primary outcome reporting (with vs. without pharma: 56% vs. 12%, RCT vs. other: 43% vs. 22%).ConclusionsIn COVID-19 trials in the early phase of the pandemic, all primary outcomes were completely defined in 54%, 58%, and 70% of registry entries, preprints and journal articles, respectively. Only 25% of preprints and 43% of journal articles reported primary outcomes consistent with registry entries.

The Reverse Flow: A First Geographical Overview of Returning Italians. By historical tradition, the emigration of compatriots is a structural phenomenon. However, as the number of expatriates increases over the last fifteen years, an objectively new fact becomes increasingly evident: a progressive growth of repatriations. Starting from an examination of the geographical literature on the subject, this contribution presents an initial geographical reflection on the areas of origin and the places of new residence of Italians who have returned in recent years, disaggregating the available statistical data (registry entries from abroad of Italian citizens made available by ISTAT and AIRE data provided by the Ministry of the Interior) at a provincial level.

The article outlines the reorganisation of the office service carried out in poviat starost's offices of the Lublin Voivodeship in 1927. It concerned the documentation accruing in enumerated categories of cases, the settlement of which involved entries in official registers kept on the basis of legal regulations. The streamlining consisted in resigning from entering correspondence, in these cases, in the correspondence register, leaving only entries in the appropriate register, which at the same time assumed the function of an office aid. The article assesses the significance of the implementation of this solution against the background of all activities improving the office of the administration of the Second Republic of Poland, and above all the nationwide reform of the office regulations introduced in 1931. The source material is based on normative acts, documents related to their establishment and implementation, as well as reporting and control materials. In addition, the findings made on the basis of the normative acts have been verified in relation to the office aids preserved in the archival legacy of the offices studied.

Credibility at stake: only two-thirds of randomized trials of nutrition interventions are registered and lack transparency in outcome and treatment effect definitions

ObjectivesThis study aimed to investigate the adherence of randomized controlled trials of nutrition interventions to transparency practices informing assessments of selective reporting biases, including the availability of a trial registration entry, protocol and statistical analysis plan (SAP). Study Design and SettingRetrospective observational study with cross-sectional design. We systematically searched for trials published from 1 July 2019, to 30 June 2020, and included a randomly selected sample of 400 studies. We searched for registry entries, protocols, and SAPs for all included studies. We extracted data to characterize the disclosure of sufficient information in the available materials to inform assessments of selective reporting biases, considering the definition of outcome domain, measure, metric, method of aggregation, time point, analysis population, methods to handle missing data and method of adjustment. ResultsMost trials (69%) were registered, but these often lacked sufficient specification of outcomes and intended treatment effects. Protocols and SAPs provided more details but were less often available (14% and 3%, respectively), and even then, almost all studies presented limited information to inform the assessments of risk of bias due to the selection of the reported result. ConclusionLack of full specification of outcomes and intended treatment effects hinder a full adherence of randomized controlled trials of nutrition interventions to transparency practices and may affect their credibility.

Characteristics of in-hospital stroke patients in Sweden: A nationwide register-based study.

Few studies have reported the characteristics of patients with in-hospital stroke (IHS) including the reason for hospitalization and invasive procedures before the stroke. We aimed to extend current knowledge. All adult patients with IHS in Sweden during 2010-2019 registered in the Swedish Stroke Register (Riksstroke) were included. The cohort was cross-linked to the National Patient Register and data extracted on background diagnoses, main discharge diagnoses, and procedure codes for the hospitalization when IHS occurred and any hospital-based healthcare contacts within 30 days before IHS. 231,402 stroke cases were identified of which 12,551 (5.4%) were in-hospital and had corresponding entries in the National Patient Register. Of the IHS patients, 11,420 (91.0%) had ischemic stroke and 1131 (9.0%) hemorrhagic stroke; 5860 (46.7%) of the IHS patients had at least one invasive procedure prior to ictus. 1696 (13.5%) had a cardiovascular procedure and 560 (4.5%) a neurosurgical procedure. 1319 (10.5%) patients only had minimally invasive procedures such as blood product transfusion, hemodialysis, or central line insertion. Common discharge diagnosis in patients with no invasive procedures were cardiovascular disorders, injuries, and respiratory disorders. One in every 17 strokes in Sweden occur in a hospital. In this unselected large cohort the previously reported major causes for in-hospital stroke, cardiovascular and neurosurgical procedures, preceded IHS in only 18.0% of cases suggesting that other etiologies are more common than previously reported. Future studies should aim at determining absolute risks of stroke after surgical procedures and ways of risk reduction.

Meaningless Use: Assessing Compliance With a Clinically Meaningless Emergency Department Documentation Requirement.

Introduction A New York State initiative requests that Emergency Department (ED) providers document in the electronic health record (EHR) each admitted patient's employment status and, if applicable, their mode of commute. This initiative diverts them from their primary duties and increases the likelihood they will either disregard the request or input incorrect information to complete the data fields as fast as possible. This study intends to understand how well providers adhere to this regulation, which, while important for society as a whole, has little clinical relevance, especially in the ED, where the focus is to identify and treat emergent conditions. We hypothesized that clinician-collected employment data would contain many more "N/A" responses than registration-collected employment data (the "gold standard"). Methods We took a randomly selected convenience sample of 100 patients admitted from the EDand compared each patient's provider-entered response to the employment data field to the registration-recorded response. The EHR operates such that the "Employment" field must be completed in order to complete the admission electronically. Data fields collected were: last name, first name, date of birth, medical record number, date and time of arrival, date and time of admission, attending physician, resident physician (if there was one), mid-level provider (if there was one), provider-entered employment status, registration-entered employment status, admitting service (eg, Medicine, Surgery, OB/Gyn), and disposition level (eg, ICU). We assessed the percent of employment data that was concordant between the provider's entry and the registration clerk's entry. We also assessed for the potential confounding variable of how busy the ED was at time of admission,as providers may not take ask about employment or enter such data during particularly busy times. Finally, we interviewed providers to elicit reasons they did not enter accurate data. Statistical significance was set a priori at p <0.05. Results One hundred six patients were screened; six were excluded because one of the authors (MR) was their attending physician. For 92 of the remaining 100 patients, providers recorded employment as "N/A," and for eight patients they recorded "retired." For seven of these eight patients, provider entry matched registration entry (87.5% concordance). To adjust for whether how busy the ED was may have impacted the accuracy of data entry, admissions were categorized according to what time of day the patient was admitted. There was no statistically significant correlation between how busy the ED was andaccuracy of data entry.The majority of providers stated they responded "NA" because the employment information was unrelated to the ED visit. Conclusion In New York, for each patient admitted from the ED, the ED provider is requested to enter the patient's job information and, if they commute to work, the method they use. However, this takes providers' attention away from what they should be doing most: diagnosing and treating patients.This study highlights the unintended consequence of requesting data fields that are not clinically relevant and, from the patient and provider perspective, are not good investments of time and energy and distract from the clinical visit. Persons interpreting such clinically irrelevant data should do so with caution, as the results are unlikely to reflect the truth of what the questions intend to determine.

REGISTARSKO ZALOŽNO PRAVO NA ORUŽJU

When a lien is established by entry in a specific public register (registry), it is a registered lien – a mortgage. According to the method of establishment, the right of lien, which is established by entry in the public register (registry), is called a mortgage. In modern real law insurance systems, an important place is occupied by lien law insurance, which allows the creditor, upon maturity of the claim, if it is not settled, to be settled from the value of the pledged thing, regardless of whether the thing at the time of settlement is owned by the pledge debtor or not. In this sense, the arrangement of lien insurance on things that are restricted in circulation for social, political and security reasons is particularly important. Thus, for weapons, a special regulation has determined the regime of legal circulation characterized by various restrictions, approvals and records of possession and ownership. Possession of weapons in the Republic of Croatia is governed by the Act on the Acquisition and Possession of Weapons by Citizens. However, the assumptions, effects and procedure for registration of a registered lien on weapons as movable property are governed by the Act on the Register of Court and Public Notary Security of Claims on Movable Property and Rights. In this regard, there are various registers in which different actual rights to weapons are registered, and which are kept by different state bodies. The paper analyses the actual legal significance (declaratory and constitutive) of the registration of weapons in various registers, the procedure and legal consequences of the registration. Open issues of establishment and transfer of lien rights, satisfaction of the lien creditor, right to possession and use of weapons as pledge are highlighted. The adequacy of the existing types of entries in the Register of Court and Public-Notary Security of Claims on Movable Property and Rights is analysed. The paper offers to provide guidelines and possible solutions for the regulation of these issues de lege ferenda that would meet the general, political and legal interests, as well as interests in private law of real rights holders on weapons.

Towards full clinical trial registration and results publication: longitudinal meta-research study in Northwestern and Central Switzerland

ObjectiveThe registration of clinical trials is required by law in Switzerland. We investigated (1) the proportion of registered and prospectively registered clinical trials, (2) the availability of results for ethically approved trial protocols, (3) factors associated with increased registration, and (4) reasons for non-registration.Design and settingWe included all clinical trials with mandatory prospective registration, which were approved by the ethics committee of Northwestern and Central Switzerland between January 1, 2016, and December 31, 2020.MethodsWe extracted relevant trial characteristics from the Swiss Business Administration System for Ethics Committees and systematically searched the International Clinical Trials Registry Platform and primary trial registries for corresponding registry entries. We used multivariable logistic regression to examine the association between trial characteristics and registration. We qualitatively assessed reasons for non-registration of trials through an email questionnaire for trial investigators.ResultsOf 473 included clinical trials, 432 (91%) were registered at all and 326 (69%) were prospectively registered. While the percentages of registration and prospective registration of investigator-sponsored trials increased from 85 to 93% and from 59 to 70% over 5 years, respectively, industry-sponsored trials consistently remained at a high level of prospective registration (92 to 100%). Trials with multiple centres, higher risk category, or methodological support from the local clinical trials unit were independently associated with increased registration rates. Of 103 clinical trials completed before August 2020, results were available for 70% of industry-sponsored trials and 45% of investigator-sponsored trials as peer-reviewed journal publications or in trial registries. Most common reasons for non-registration provided by investigators were lack of time or resources (53%), lack of knowledge (22%), and lack of reminders by the ethics committee (36%).ConclusionsIn Northwestern and Central Switzerland about 10% of clinical trials remained unregistered despite the obligation by law. More support for investigators and stricter enforcement by regulators are needed to improve the transparency of investigator-sponsored trials in particular.

The outcomes of the activities of the Voivodeship Office for the Protection of Monuments in Wrocław in the perspective of cultural security from the local point of view in the years 2015-2019

The aim of the article is to determine and evaluate the effects of the activities of the Voivodeship Office for the Protection of Monuments in Wrocław related to the implementation of tasks in selected areas of protection and care of monuments in the Dolnośląskie Voivodeship in the years 2015-2019. In the study, research methods such as critical analysis of the scientific literature, analysis of legal acts and – to a large extent – analysis of documents are applied. The diversity of the outcomes of the activities of the Voivodeship Office for the Protection of Monuments in Wrocław in the described area was determined. Administrative activities concerned the necessity to enter non-movable monuments into the register of monuments at the request of the owner or the entity in charge of that monument, making new entries in the voivodeship register of monuments or recommending changes in local spatial development plans to local government units. Issuing of permits for conducting archaeological research dominated the issues related to the regulation of other legally permitted activities in relation to monuments. The great activity of the Voivode-ship Office for the Protection of Monuments in Wrocław related to issuing conservation recommendations has been demonstrated.

A nationwide cross-sectional review of in-hospital hepatitis B virus testing and disease burden estimation in Ghana, 2016 - 2021

Background and aimsData are needed to inform hepatitis B virus (HBV) testing and treatment policies in Ghana to make progress towards achieving the 2030 WHO elimination targets. This study investigated testing patterns for HBV and described the age, sex, and region-specific prevalence of HBV infection in Ghana using hospital data.MethodsA nationwide multi-centre cross-sectional study was performed where hospital-based registers were reviewed. These included review of 139,966 laboratory, 169,048 blood bank, and 83,920 delivery register entries from 22 healthcare institutions in Ghana. Frequencies and proportions, and crude and pooled estimates reported. Chi squared test was used for tests of independence. Logistic regression was used to identify factors associated with a positive test result.ResultsThe crude HBsAg seroprevalence was 8.48% (95%CI 8.25–8.57%) with pooled estimate of 11.40% (95%CI 10.44–12.35). HBsAg seroprevalence among children under 5 years was 1.87% (95%CI 1.07-3.27) and highest age-specific seroprevalence was in those 40-49 years. The highest region-specific seroprevalences was in the Savannah (22.7%). Predictors of a positive HBsAg RDT test included female sex (OR 0.81 95% CI 0.74–0.88), and age (OR 1.005 95%CI 1.002–1.007). The proportion of parturient women receiving HBsAg testing increased between 2017 (87.2%) and 2020 (94.3%) (p < 0.001). The crude HBsAg seroprevalence in parturient women was 6.14% (95% CI 5.97-6.31). Among blood donors the crude HBsAg seroprevalence was 5.69% (95%CI 5.58–5.80). Data from 2 teaching hospitals indicated that in 2020, although 1500 HBsAg positive tests were recorded only 746 serological profile and 804 HBV DNA tests were performed. HBV e antigen seroprevalence was 6.28% (95%CI 4.73–7.84).Conclusion and recommendationsGhana remains a country with high HBV burden. There is an unequal distribution, with higher HBsAg seroprevalence in the north of the country. Furthermore, PCR testing is not widely available outside of large teaching hospitals, which limits diagnostic work-up. Hepatitis reporting systems and registers should be improved to facilitate data capture of indicators and standardised across the country to allow for comparability. Furthermore, where gains have been made in testing among pregnant women, there is a need for linkage to appropriate care.

Developing Business Model Competences in the Enterprise

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, 2021 saw a growing interest in starting own business: as per the Census Bureau's Business Formation Statistics, the number of applications to form new businesses filed in the U.S. was the highest compared to any other year on record, reaching the total of 5.4 million (Economic Innovation Group, 2022), while in the EU, after an initial downward trend recorded in the first and second quarters of 2020, the number of new business registrations grew again in the third quarter of that year, and this upward trend continued throughout 2021 (Eurostat, 2022). Of course, as a result of Russia's invasion on Ukraine and related economic crisis, a downward tendency could be observed, but business registration levels in the EU in the first quarter of 2022 were still higher than during the pre-COVID 19 pandemic period (2015–2019) (Eurostat, 2022) and online searches indicating and intent to open a business spiked by 76% from 2018 to 2022 (Search Engine Journal, 2022). This shows that despite many external impediments, people are still tempted to start their own business, and many influencers, motivational speakers and coaches, as well as various popular TV shows broadcast worldwide (like the Apprentice, Dragons’ Den, Shark Tank or Planet of the Apps) encourage them to do so. Becoming an entrepreneur has become a goal many people, especially 20-, 30- and 40-year-olds, strive to achieve. However, many of those people fail to realise that the very entry in the business register does not automatically make them entrepreneurs or their business successful. Neither does a good (or even excellent and innovative) business idea that attracts customers, as it was in Kodak’s, Blockbuster’s, or Ask Jeeves’ case. What is required, is the ability to stay attractive to existing and prospective customers, i.e., the ability to win and retain customers, and to adapt to the changing demands, trends and economic conditions. All this can be achieved thanks to a meticulously designed and regularly reviewed and updated business model.&#x0D; The aim of this paper is to present and analyse the learning process of acquiring and building competences in the area of business models with the use of different innovative tools. The results presented and discussed in this article come from surveys as well as face-to-face and on-line meetings conducted in the ProBM 2 ERASMUS+ project (Understanding and Developing Business Models in the Era of Globalisation), in which the total of 261 respondents from seven (7) European countries, i.e. Poland, Italy, Greece, Romania, Portugal, Malta, and Switzerland, took part between 2019 and 2022. From the meetings and surveys it follows that much more awareness of business models needs to be encouraged and developed, particularly as regards improving competences helping future business owners and their employees assess profitability and efficiency of their operations and ensure that the business will be a going concern.

Recording and reporting of recruitment strategies in trial protocols, registries, and publications was nonexistent

ObjectivesTo investigate how trialists record and report their recruitment strategies and the recruiter details in trial protocols, registries, and publications. Study Design and SettingA retrospective study of ovarian cancer (OC) trials between 2010 and 2021. We reviewed 154 trial publications, 30 protocols, 105 registry entries, and 26 trial websites associated with 88 phase III OC trials. ResultsNone of the 88 trials reviewed published a recruitment strategy or made reference to an available recruitment strategy for the trial. Only 31% (n = 28) made reference to the recruiter but this was reported only in the protocol so we have no evidence these named recruiters performed the task. None of the trials reviewed which closed early or extended recruitment timelines due to slow accrual, reported measures taken to improve recruitment rates before stoppages or changes took place. There were disparities in the reported target recruitment numbers between the protocol, the publication, and the registry. ConclusionRecruitment strategies exist, and we are sure most trial centers use recruitment strategies, but they need to be recorded and reported, as part of the supplementary material if not the main publication, so we can evaluate their effectiveness.

Clinical trial research agenda on COVID-19 – the first two years in Germany and beyond

BackgroundWe have followed the COVID-19 clinical trial research agenda from the beginning using the COVID-evidence.org platform. Now, two years after the COVID-19 pandemic started, our aim was to re-examine this research agenda with the latest data to provide a global perspective on the research landscape with a focus on Germany. MethodsWe reviewed and updated previously published data on the COVID-19 clinical research agenda as of 28February 2022 focusing on randomized trials. We used the COVID-evidence.org platform including registry entries from ClinicalTrials.gov and the WHO International Clinical Trials Registry Platform as well as publications from the Living OVerview of Evidence platform for COVID-19 (L·OVE). ResultsTwo years on from the pandemic outbreak, there were 4,673 registered trials. The majority of these trials have remained small with a median of 120 planned participants (IQR 60-320). In the first hundred days of the pandemic most of them (50%) had been registered in China. More than two years later, the five countries with the most registered trials (alone or within a framework of international collaborations) were the USA (825 trials; 18%), Iran (619 trials; 13%), India (566 trials; 12%), China (353 trials; 8%), and Spain (309 trials; 7%). Only 119 trials were reported to have a study site in Germany (2.5% of the registered trials). Of the 4,673 trials registered, 15% (694 trials) had published their results by February 2022. The clinical research agenda has been marked by both successes, such as the large RECOVERY trial providing evidence on 10 treatments for COVID-19 including over 45,000 patients as of February 2022, and failures: worldwide only 57 randomized trials have been registered over two years that aimed to assess non-pharmaceutical interventions (e.g., face mask policies and lockdown measures) to prevent COVID-19, and only 11 of them had published results informing decisions that have an impact on the life of billions of people worldwide. ConclusionsThe COVID-19 clinical research agenda has highlighted the substantial effort of the research community but also the challenges of the clinical research ecosystem. Most importantly, it has shed light on the ability to circumvent traditional barriers and to make trials more useful even under extraordinary conditions. The time to learn our lessons and apply them is now, and the time to demonstrate how we have improved the system is before the next pandemic.

The aim of this paper is to present the legal regulation and administration of land registers in Hungary since the middle of the 19th century, as well as the reasons for the establishment of the so-called public books. Special attention is paid to the legal regulation of entries in the land registers. In conclusion, the author states that land registers are still important, and that the application practice must deal with entries in the land registers.

Mortality burden due to liver cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma in Ghana; prevalence of risk factors and predictors of poor in-hospital survival.

Liver-related diseases, including liver cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), are significant causes of mortality globally. Specific causes and predictors of liver-related mortality in low resource settings require assessment to help inform clinical decision making and develop strategies for improved survival. The objectives of this study were to determine the proportion of liver-related deaths associated with liver cirrhosis, HCC, and their known risk factors, and secondly to determine predictors of in-hospital mortality among cirrhosis and HCC patients in Ghana. We first performed a cross-sectional review of death register entries from 11 referral hospitals in Ghana to determine the proportion of liver-related deaths and the proportion of risk factors associated with these deaths. Secondly, we conducted a retrospective cohort review of 172 in-patient liver cirrhosis and HCC cases admitted to a tertiary referral centre and determined predictors of in-hospital mortality using binary logistic regression and Kaplan-Meier survival analysis. In total, 8.8% of deaths in Ghanaian adults were due to liver-related causes. The proportion of liver-related deaths attributed to HBV infection was 48.8% (95% CI: 45.95–51.76), HCV infection was 7.0% (95% CI: 5.58–8.45), HBV-HCV co-infection 0.5% (95% CI: 0.1–0.9) and alcohol was 10.0% (95% CI: 8.30–11.67). Of 172 cases of HCC and liver cirrhosis, the in-patient mortality rate was 54.1%. Predictors of in-patient mortality in cirrhotic patients were increasing WBC (OR = 1.14 95% CI: 1.00–1.30) and the revised model for end-stage liver disease with sodium (MELD-Na) score (OR = 1.24 95% CI: 1.01–1.54). For HCC patients, female sex (OR = 3.74 95% CI: 1.09–12.81) and hepatic encephalopathy (grade 1) were associated with higher mortality (OR = 5.66 95% CI: 1.10–29.2). In conclusion, HBV is linked to a high proportion of HCC-related deaths in Ghana, with high in-hospital mortality rates that require targeted policies to improve survival.

Trial registration of abstracts from the American Society of Anesthesiologists Meetings 2010-2016: A review of prospective trial registration and selective outcome reporting.

Mandatory prospective trial registration was introduced in 2005 to reduce publication bias and selective outcome reporting. In this study, we measured the proportion of prospective trial registration in randomized controlled trials in the anesthesia literature after this introduction, discrepancies between these trial protocols and subsequent publications, the association between being prospectively registered and reporting positive or negative results, and between being prospectively registered and achieving publication. We reviewed all abstracts from the American Society of Anesthesiologists annual meetings between 2010–2016 and included randomized controlled trials in humans. The abstract conclusions were scored as positive or negative according to predetermined definitions. We conducted a systematic search for trial registration and subsequent publication. Of the 9789 abstracts reviewed, 1070 abstracts were included. 222 (21%) of these abstracts had undergone prospective trial registration. 168/222 (76%) had a corresponding journal publication. 81(48%) had a major discrepancy between registration and publication. 149 (67%) of the abstracts with registration had positive outcomes compared with 616 (73%) of those without (Odds Ratio 0.77; 95% CI: 0.56 to 1.06; P = 0.105). s that had been registered were more likely to proceed to publication than those that had not (Odds Ratio 3.82; 95% CI 2.73 to 5.35; P < 0.001). The proportion of randomized controlled trials being prospectively registered in anesthesia remains low. Discrepancies between registry entries and corresponding journal publications are common. There was no association between prospective trial registration and subsequent positive outcomes. There was a strong association between prospective trial registration and the likelihood of progression to journal publication.

THE REGISTER OF AGRICULTURAL HOLDINGS IN THE REPUBLIC OF SERBIA

This paper introduces the Register of Agricultural Holdings in the Republic of Serbia and explains the process of agricultural holding registration, renewal, and change to the existing Register entries. It also contains the analysis of the number of agricultural holdings found in the Register including data regarding the total arable land area. In the second part of this paper, you will learn more about the advantages of implementing the eAgrar information system and the potential challenges that could arise from the agriculturists’ unwillingness to adapt to the new system and procedures, followed by incentives to assist the agricultural and rural development.
