Exploring factors influencing university students' entrepreneurial intentions: The role of attitudes, beliefs, and environmental support.

Entrepreneurship is an increasingly popular career choice among students, driven by the transformative impact of emerging technologies and evolving professional landscapes. This study focuses on how higher education shapes students' professional identities and entrepreneurial intentions, particularly among business school students. Utilizing the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) as the foundational framework, the study examines the factors influencing entrepreneurial intentions, with a specific emphasis on the moderating role of departmental identification. The primary aim of this research is to explore how students' identification with their academic departments influences the relationship between entrepreneurial attitude, self-efficacy, and environmental support with entrepreneurial intentions. The study hypothesizes that the stronger the departmental identification, the more significant these relationships become. A survey is conducted among students from several public universities in the eastern provinces of Mainland China, yielding 1,632 valid responses. The results confirm a positive correlation between entrepreneurial attitude, self-efficacy, and environmental support with entrepreneurial intentions. Furthermore, departmental identification moderates these relationships, amplifying the effects when students identify strongly with their academic departments. These findings emphasize the critical role of departmental identity in shaping entrepreneurial aspirations. They highlight the need for higher education institutions to leverage departmental identity as a strategic tool to guide students' career trajectories. By fostering a supportive academic environment that strengthens departmental identity, institutions can better prepare their students for entrepreneurial success in a rapidly evolving professional world.

Community partnership programs have been implemented in various regions in Indonesia, one of which is Santripeneur. This program aims to generate new entrepreneurs and produce superior products for Islamic boarding schools, which became known as the One Pesantren One Product program (OPOP). One of the Islamic boarding schools in Malang that has implemented the OPOP program is the An-Nashr Wajak Islamic Boarding School through the cultivation of chicken and catfish farms using qualitative research methods to analyze the impact of implementing OPOP implementation and assisting Islamic boarding schools in strengthening the vision in running a business according to the potential of the Islamic boarding schoolThe study results indicate that Islamic boarding schools' role is learning, disseminating religious knowledge, increasing students' creative attitudes, increasing entrepreneurial attitudes and advancing the economy of students, the community through livestock business is one of the roles of An-Nasr Islamic Boarding School in the socio-economic field.

Kadın girişimcilerin geleneksel gıdalara karşı tutumu: Bingöl örneği

This study assesses the traditional food knowledge levels and entrepreneurial attitudes of female entrepreneurs in Bingöl province. This study employed semi-structured interview techniques and descriptive and content analysis methods from qualitative research and phenomenology. The research sample consisted of seven female entrepreneurs residing in Bingöl, selected through criterion sampling. The data obtained from the interviews was categorized into six themes using content analysis with the MAXQDA program: (1) female entrepreneurs; (2) contributions to the development of the province; (3) incentives; (4) traditional foods; (5) marketing methods; and (6) budget support. The research findings revealed that the knowledge level of female entrepreneurs residing in Bingöl province regarding traditional foods is notably high. While some participants source the primary ingredients for the traditional foods they produce and sell from local suppliers, others produce and utilize some of these main ingredients themselves. Overall, it has been established that the knowledge level of female entrepreneurs about traditional foods is sufficient, and their entrepreneurial attitudes towards traditional foods are positive.

Assessing the Attitude of Entrepreneurs towards Agri-Business in Tamil Nadu Using a Standardized Measurement Scale

This study examines the attitudes of entrepreneurs towards agribusiness, focusing on how various factors influence their entrepreneurial ventures in the agricultural sector. The study employs a robust methodology, using Thurstone and Chave's scaling technique to construct and validate an attitude scale. Results indicate that the majority of entrepreneurs (51.33%) exhibit a moderately favorable attitude towards agribusiness, with a notable proportion 28.67% showing a highly favorable disposition. This favorable attitude is attributed to factors such as opportunity identification, resource pooling and resilience, despite the inherent risks and seasonal fluctuations viz., weather conditions, supply and demand etc., associated with agribusiness.

Creativity on Student’s Entrepreneurial Intention: The Moderating Effect in The Theory of Planned Behavior

The purpose of this research is to determine the effects of Creativity, Entrepreneurial Attitude (EA), Perceived Behavioral Control (PBC), and Subjective Norms (SN) on Entrepreneurial Intention (EI), moderation of creativity in the influence of EA, PBC, and SN on Entrepreneurial Intention (EI), and the effect of Entrepreneurial Self-Efficacy (ESE) on PBC in active students at Sebelas Maret University, Surakarta. This research is quantitative. The sample in this research consisted of 381 active students at Sebelas Maret University, Surakarta, who were currently taking or had previously taken entrepreneurship courses. Data collection was conducted using a questionnaire distributed via Google Forms. Primary data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The results show that Creativity, EA, PBC, and SN positively and significantly affect EI. Creativity can strengthen the effect of PBC on EI. However, not on EA and SN, and ESE has a positive and significant effect on PBC in students at Sebelas Maret University, Surakarta. Entrepreneurship education implemented in higher education should focus on developing the three components of the Theory of Planned Behavior and student creativity.

Fostering entrepreneurial spirit: Elevating attitudes through local wisdom-infused project-based learning

Students often complete assignments just to fulfill their obligations, so project-based learning with an entrepreneurial orientation is expected to produce products with more market value. The purpose of this study was to improve students' entrepreneurial attitudes after implementing project-based learning on ecology material. This quasi-experimental study used a pretest-posttest control group design. A total of 48 students selected through purposive sampling technique were divided into experimental and control groups. The data collection instruments used were concept mastery tests, questionnaires, observations, and documentation while data analysis used descriptive analysis and mean difference tests. The results of the analysis showed that there was an increase in students' local wisdom-based entrepreneurial attitudes through the application of project-based learning models on Ecology material. Therefore, educators and curriculum developers adopt an approach that not only improves academic outcomes but also fosters entrepreneurial skills that are important for students' future success.

Extending the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) by Examining the Decision-making Process of Individuals Starting a New Business: A Quantitative Analysis in Germany

Starting a new business is a risky and complex decision with widespread consequences for the entrepreneur. But despite extensive research, it is still not clear which specific factors influence this choice on the individual level of the entrepreneur. Using the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) as a theoretical basis for the decision process, this study builds on previous qualitative research to shed more light on the social and personal factors determining the individual’s decision to start a new business. Following a quantitative approach, data were collected via an online survey targeting entrepreneurs, resulting in 176 complete responses. The findings highlight that an economically oriented education significantly influences entrepreneurial attitudes, materialistic values are linked with subjective norms, and the individual’s resilience positively affects perceived behavioral control (PBC). On the other hand, no influence on the decision was found for factors such as social influence, need for recognition, educational level, conscientiousness, and openness. Based on these findings, the study has two core contributions: First, it contributes to the refinement of TPB in the context of entrepreneurship by highlighting the individual’s social and personal factors. Second, it provides valuable insights for educational initiatives and political decisions to foster entrepreneurial endeavors.

Impact of Technology-Driven Start-ups in Empowerment of Youth in India: An Empirical Investigation

Technology-driven start-ups have appeared as transformative agents, significantly contributing to the empowerment of youth. There is an important part of these start-ups in the innovative sectors like artificial intelligence, fintech, and renewable energy where they are enhancing employment opportunities by generating diverse jobs for youths. Skill-based hiring is prioritised in these start-ups which fosters the economy, offers flexibility and global exposure. “Hands-on learning, access to cutting-edge technologies, and cross-disciplinary collaboration, equipping youth with future-ready capabilities” are skill development drives promoted in these ventures. Technology-driven start-ups empower youth by nurturing culture of innovation, self-reliance, and adaptability which leads to economic and societal transformation, shapes a future-ready workforce and address critical global challenges. Start-ups nurtures entrepreneurship among young population where they provide digital platforms, funding opportunities, and access to mentorship and global networks. They inspire innovation and encourage the entrepreneurial attitude needed to deal with current challenges. A sample of 219 young entrepreneurs from different entrepreneurial sectors were surveyed to explore the factors that shows the Impact of Technology-Driven Start-ups in Empowerment of Youth and found that job creation, skill enhancement, entrepreneurship, and digital inclusion are the factors that shows the Impact of Technology-Driven Start-ups in Empowerment of Youth.

Fostering Sustainable Development Through Women’s Entrepreneurship: Psychosocial Factors and Attitudinal Mediation in Colombian Higher Education

University female entrepreneurship has seen significant growth in Colombia in recent years. This study aimed to examine the psychosocial factors that determine the entrepreneurial intent of Colombian university women, specifically analyzing how entrepreneurial attitude mediates the relationship between these factors and the intent to engage in entrepreneurship using a structural equation modeling approach (SEM). A total of 409 university students from various higher education institutions in Colombia participated by completing an online survey. The results demonstrated that extrinsic motivation (β = 0.178 moderate intensity), family environment (β = 0.127 moderate intensity), innovation (β = 0.462 very intense), and intrinsic motivation (β = 0.117 low intensity) positively influence entrepreneurial attitude, which in turn has a significant positive effect on the intent to engage in entrepreneurship (β = 0.709 very intense). Furthermore, innovation, extrinsic motivation, family environment, and intrinsic motivation indirectly influence entrepreneurial intent through their impact on attitude. In conclusion, this study provides a deeper understanding of the psychosocial mechanisms that drive female entrepreneurship in the Colombian university context and lays the groundwork for the design of educational programs and public policies that enhance the talent and entrepreneurial aspirations of women in higher education.

Optimizing the Role of Women Through the Entrepreneurship Education Program at PKBM Arrahman, Talabiu Village, Bima Regency

Entrepreneurial Skills Education is an important program to improve entrepreneurial skills and knowledge, especially in the face of increasingly fierce economic competition. This program is designed to provide knowledge and skills and form an entrepreneurial attitude in participants, with the main goal of creating new business opportunities and improving community welfare. One of the PKW implementations was carried out at PKBM Arrahman in Talabiu Village, Woha District, Bima Regency, which focused on sewing skills training. This training aims to empower women by providing practical skills in sewing, which can be used to open an independent business or increase job opportunities. The training activities, which take place from August to October 2024, involve various learning methods including lectures, socialization, and practical training. With an approach that includes business opportunity identification, entrepreneurial learning, and business mentoring, this training equips participants with technical knowledge of design, material selection, cutting techniques, and fashion finishing. The results of the training showed an improvement in the sewing skills of the participants, which can now produce better quality products and reduce dependence on outside services. This training also has a significant impact in reducing unemployment in Talabiu Village, increasing community enthusiasm for entrepreneurship, and encouraging the opening of new businesses. However, for long-term success, it is important for participants to be more disciplined in financial records and pay attention to managerial aspects. Overall, this training not only improves technical skills but also has a positive economic impact on society, with the potential to operate optimally and sustainably in the future.

Why Coaching Needs Real Intelligence, Not Artificial Intelligence

The movement of AI into the coaching arena continues to be steady and confident, meeting only rare and timid resistance. The progress of this movement can be explained by decades of technological advances, the entrepreneurial attitude of AI developers, and the inherent peculiarities of the coaching business. The voices of caution are too quiet in ‘the noise of progress’. However, there are important reasons for coaching communities to be apprehensive about the ways this movement could change coaching as a service and what this means for all involved. In this paper, I address potential problematic issues with the AI revolution in the context of a multitude of conceptual holes in coaching as a profession. I argue that dehumanising coaching under the guise of ‘enhancement by AI’ undermines human intelligence, which is desperately needed while the discipline of organisational coaching remains in its early stages of development.

The role of halal value chain, Sharia financial inclusion, and digital economy in socio-economic transformation: a study of Islamic boarding schools in Indonesia

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to analyze the impact of the halal value chains (HVCs) in the Islamic boarding schools (IBSs) for the food and fashion industry on socio-economic transformation, focusing on changes in entrepreneurial attitudes, quality of life and social inclusion. The study also incorporates HVCs as a mediating variable to assess the indirect influence of Sharia financial inclusion and economic digitalization on socio-economic transformation. Design/methodology/approach This research uses a quantitative approach using primary data collected through surveys. The population consists of IBSs registered in the Independence Program of the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia. The research sample was selected using purposive sampling, and the research model was tested using partial least squares structural equation modeling with WarpPLS 8.0 software. Findings The results of the direct analysis indicate that halal value chain (HVC) has a positive and significant effect on socio-economic transformation. The indirect analysis reveals that HVC plays a strategic role in facilitating the impact of Sharia financial inclusion and digital economy adoption on changes in entrepreneurial attitudes, quality of life and social inclusion. The findings are further validated through multigroup analysis, demonstrating the robustness of the result. Practical implications The results highlight two key points. First, the positive characteristics of the IBS-HVCs, enabled by Sharia financial inclusion, will drive the continuous development of new services, products, networks, collaborations and capital support, leading to the expansion of a financially inclusive and equitable HVC system from the IBSs to the broader community, with significant social and economic impacts nationally and internationally. Second, the adoption of economic digitalization within IBSs will enhance productivity and efficiency for business management, fostering expanded business models and facilitating upward social mobility. Originality/value To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this study is the first to explore the role of HVC in socio-economic transformation. Additionally, it uses HVC as a mediating variable to explain the relationship between Sharia financial inclusion, digital economy and socio-economic transformation. A robustness test through multigroup analysis further strengthens the study’s contributions.

ENTREPRENEURIAL INTENTION AMONG UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS AT UNIVERSITI MALAYSIA SABAH, LABUAN INTERNATIONAL CAMPUS

Amidst Malaysia's notable unemployment challenges, there exists a burgeoning interest in harnessing entrepreneurship as a catalyst for job creation, economic advancement, and individual empowerment. This investigation endeavors to scrutinize the determinants shaping entrepreneurial inclinations among undergraduate students, particularly within the confines of Universiti Malaysia Sabah Labuan International Campus (UMSLIC). Leveraging the framework of the Theory Of Planned Behavior (TPB), this inquiry delves into the entrepreneurial aspirations of undergraduate cohorts, augmented by the incorporation of entrepreneurial self-efficacy and the need for achievement as pertinent variables. Data acquisition was facilitated through an online survey administered to 188 undergraduate participants at UMSLIC, employing a convenience sampling method. Subsequent hypothesis testing was carried out employing SPSS version 27. The outcomes reveal a positive correlation between Entrepreneurial Attitude (EA), Perceived Behavior Control (PBC), Entrepreneurial Self-Efficacy (ESE), and Need for Achievement (NA) with Entrepreneurial Intention (EI) among the targeted demographic. However, Subjective Norm (SN) was observed to bear no significant influence on Entrepreneurial Intention (EI) among undergraduates at UMSLIC. These empirical insights can be instrumental for policymakers in crafting tailored interventions and initiatives aimed at fostering and augmenting student engagement in entrepreneurial pursuits.

Entrepreneurial Intention of Higher Education Graduates from Guayaquil: Validation of the Theory of Planned Action

Entrepreneurship is born from the initiative of a person to establish their business idea in a legal field to generate impact in the social and economic field. Likewise, the person's perceived level of education is a variable that can also influence the intention to start a business, an indicator of growth in the rate of entrepreneurship. The present research aims to identify what factors and attitudes graduates in higher education from Guayaquil-Ecuador have regarding the entrepreneurial approach. Being a type of exploratory and descriptive research, where the business values and intentions (VIE) questionnaire was applied as an instrument, which incorporates the factors of the theory of planned action and Schwartz's theory of personal values, to a sample of 439 professionals to correlate the dimensions that affect entrepreneurial intention, such as entrepreneurial attitude, subjective norm, entrepreneurial self-efficacy, and values; and for its estimation, structural equations were used to validate the variables of the proposed research model and the incidence of the factors on entrepreneurial intention.

The Influence of Emotional Competencies on the Entrepreneurship Intentions of University Students in Colombia

The main objective of this article is to analyze the effect of a group of predictors on entrepreneurial intention from the perspective of emotional competencies. To achieve this aim, a sample of 996 students belonging to ten public and seven private universities was selected, with each university having been granted high-quality accreditation by the Colombian Ministry of Education. The theoretical approach was based on Ajzen’s Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB), and the empirical analysis was based on structural equation models. Eight hypotheses were tested, with entrepreneurial intention as the dependent variable and emotional competencies, subjective norms, entrepreneurial self-efficacy, and entrepreneurial attitude as independent variables. The information was obtained by applying a questionnaire with a Likert scale to students of subjects related to entrepreneurship. From the findings of the study, it is concluded that in the two ecosystems analyzed (public and private), emotional competencies (EC) have neither a direct influence on entrepreneurial intention (EI) nor an indirect one since no significant influence is observed between emotional competencies and entrepreneurial attitude; however, a direct and positive effect was recorded between the self-efficacy and entrepreneurial attitude constructs on entrepreneurial intention. In addition, it is observed that subjective norms (SN) do not directly affect EI, but they do influence it indirectly, being mediated by entrepreneurial attitude and self-efficacy. The contribution of this study is focused on obtaining a better understanding of the entrepreneurial intentions of university students in Colombia, which will make it possible to foster strategies for the generation of youth employment and public policies to promote various entrepreneurial initiatives. This could be based on government regulations adopted in the last decade, which are still under development, and the broad participation of university students and research groups of higher education institutions. Furthermore, given the dearth of research examining the impact of emotional competencies on the entrepreneurial intentions of young Colombian university students, this study aims to bridge the existing knowledge gap, thereby contributing to the development of a more robust body of literature that can inform the design and implementation of educational strategies and public policies aimed at fostering entrepreneurship within the university ecosystems of this country.

Are students ready for digital business? Antecedents of entrepreneurial intentions among Indonesian students using a serial mediation

Although digital entrepreneurship is becoming increasingly important, the field is still in its early research stages. There is much that needs to be explored regarding the factors that motivate individuals to pursue this domain. This research provides a deeper grasp of the factors that influence entrepreneurial intentions and digital business creation including attitudes towards digital entrepreneurship, self-efficacy, digital entrepreneurship education, and entrepreneurial incubation. This study used a quantitative research design with a survey conducted on university students in Indonesia. A total of 331 participants were employed in this study, and data were processed utilizing Structural Equation Modeling (CB-SEM). The findings confirm that entrepreneurship education, entrepreneurial self-efficacy, and entrepreneurial attitudes can be predictors of entrepreneurial intention among university students in Indonesia. Furthermore, entrepreneurial self-efficacy and entrepreneurial intention were serially mediated in linking digital entrepreneurship education and digital business creation. Indeed, entrepreneurial attitudes and entrepreneurial intention also play the same role in serially mediating these variables.
