Shaping the Entrepreneurial Mindset: Entrepreneurial Intentions of Business Students in Croatia

Business students from a public university in roatia participated in an international study on entrepreneurial self‐efficacy, identity, and education. The results of this preliminary empirical research indicate that the main predictors of the entrepreneurial intentions in roatia are strength of entrepreneurial identity aspiration and entrepreneurial self‐efficacy. These two main constructs mediate the number of personal, situational, or contextual factors, including education. Empirical analysis supports the majority of ocial ognitive areer heory hypothesized interaction between control variables and main constructs such as self‐efficacy, positive outcome expectations, and entrepreneurial identity. These findings thus fill the gap in the empirical evidence of the theoretical framework validity derived from different contexts.

The Entrepreneurial Intention of Undergraduate Students in South Africa: The Influences of Entrepreneurship Education and Previous Work Experience

The primary aim of the study is to assess the entrepreneurial intention of business students. These are students that have done entrepreneurship and small business management modules. The study will also investigate empirically whether there is a significant difference in the entrepreneurial intention of students who have previous work experience compared with students without previous work experience. The study focussed on the final year students (undergraduate level) in the Department of Business Management of a South African university. This study made use of convenience sampling. Data was collected through the use of self-administered questionnaire in a survey. Data analysis included descriptive statistics and the T-test. The results indicate business students have a high level of entrepreneurial intention. In addition, students with previous work experience have a higher level of entrepreneurial intention compared to students without previous work experience. Determinants of Entrepreneurial Intention of Business Students in Bangladesh

Working on entrepreneurship bears special significance for country like Bangladesh where density of populationis very high. It is really a great challenge for the country to accommodate such a large population. Developingthe determinants on entrepreneurial intention can take the country a step ahead for the improvement ofentrepreneurial culture. Nurturing such culture will flourish entrepreneurship development which can createscope for accommodating substantial number of people. In this backdrop, this study has tested a causal model incontext of business students of Bangladesh to identify what determines their intentions to be an entrepreneur. Forthis purpose data were collected from the business students studying at Bachelor and Master Level in public andprivate universities. From the previous literature, variables like risk taking, locus of control, need forachievement, autonomy, challenges, security of job, environment for staring business and entrepreneurialeducation offered by Universities have been tested using multiple regression model. The model results showtendency of taking risk, need for achievement, education and environment for starting business, job security arestatistically significant in determining the intention of students where except job security, variables are foundpositively related.

The Relationship between Self-Perceived Generic Competences and Entrepreneurial Intention

This paper reports on a qualitative study in Finland of the relationship between self-perceived generic competences and the entrepreneurial intentions of business students when they started their Bachelor's degree studies. The study was based on course-related written assignments of one international student group. The findings illustrated three different types of student competence profiles: independent achievers, social team players and dependent individuals; and they also created a starting point for the later examination of competence development.

Explaining entrepreneurial intentions by means of the theory of planned behaviour

PurposeThis paper sets out to present a detailed empirical investigation of the entrepreneurial intentions of business students. The authors employ the theory of planned behaviour (TPB), in which intentions are regarded as resulting from attitudes, perceived behavioural control, and subjective norms.Design/methodology/approachThe methodology used was a replication study among samples of undergraduate students of business administration at four different universities (totaln=1,225). Five operationalisations of intentions are used as well as a composite measure. Prior to the main study, qualitative research conducted at two other universities (totaln=373) was held to operationalise the components of the TPB.FindingsThe results show that the two most important variables to explain entrepreneurial intentions are entrepreneurial alertness and the importance attached to financial security.Research limitations/implicationsVarious research design features are used that result in better and more detailed explanations of entrepreneurial intentions.Practical implicationsShould one want to stimulate entrepreneurship in educational or training settings, then this paper's results provide guidance. Several suggestions are offered on how entrepreneurial alertness can be improved and financial security concerns can be reduced.Originality/valueThe study provides detailed and solid results on entrepreneurial intentions which are positioned in the career literature.

Entrepreneurial Intentions of Business Students: A Benchmarking Study

It is widely accepted that the educational system of universities has to provide an academic environment that may serve as a catalyst for high-technology start-ups. The academic tradition of entrepreneurship in India is very short. Until recently, fostering innovations and new product development through entrepreneurship has not been regarded as a primary task of universities. However, perspectives have changed in this respect, and there have been numerous attempts to enhance the role of B-school graduates as founders of innovative businesses. In this paper, an attempt has been made to compare the entrepreneurial intentions of students as two B-schools with the corresponding results for a leading instititution in this field: Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). I found very distinct patterns of entrepreneurial spirit in these B-Schools. The results also suggest that the lower level of founding intentions amond students may be attributed to their less distinctive entrepreneurship education. This leaves a great deal of room for improvement.
