An AHP approach to assessing the relative importance weights of ERP performance measures

Several researchers have proposed various variants of the DeLone and McLean's Information System (IS) success model according to the specific features of problems under study. Among those researchers, Li (1997) and Skok et al. (2001) explored the importance of IS success measures using 7-point and 9-point Likert-type scales, respectively. The results of their research, however, show only the relative importance of IS success measures. Their results remain difficult to be applied to evaluate IS or ERP performance. In view of this, this study aims to present an Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) approach to assess the relative importance weights of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems performance measurement in the post-implementation stage. This approach can be used to select the key performance indicators (KPI) of ERP systems. Our research results indicate that the respondents place the greatest importance on the measures of 'Information Quality' and 'System Quality' that are the fundamental factors for ERP success.

A classification for better use of ERP systems

Companies have invested considerable resources in the implementation of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems. The results initially expected have rarely been reached. The optimisation (or efficient use) of such information systems is nowadays becoming a major factor for firms striving to reach their performance objectives. After presenting a synthesis of several studies on ERP projects, we build on the findings of a French investigation into the assessment and optimisation of ERP performance. A classification of company positions regarding their ERP use, based on both software maturity and strategic deployment directions, and an improvement process are proposed. Industrial cases allow validation of this approach.

A study on performance of introducing ERP to semiconductor related industries in Taiwan

Enterprise resource planning (ERP) has become critical to enhancing the competitiveness of the semiconductor industry in Taiwan by applying information technology to integrate internal information as well as external service capability of an enterprise to increase the flow speed and values and reduce the costs of human and managerial resources, manufacturing, management, and marketing. The success of ERP implementation depends on several factors, such as space, time, location, industry, and the like. It is critically important to collect information on the successful factors of ERP implementation and evaluate the performance of ERP in semiconductor-related industries in Taiwan. A statistical method based on Parasuraman et al. was applied to ERP implementation by providing a pair of performance indices, i.e., action and importance. In addition, a performance evaluation matrix, originally proposed by Lambert and Sharman, was revised to set up a standard by providing performance upper and lower control limits with the emphases of the Taguchi method and Shewhart control charts. Finally, quality function deployment (QFD) was used to remedy the weaknesses and develop corporate strategies to improve the ERP implementation.

A Framework for the Provision of Network Quality of Service for Enterprise Resource Planning Systems

This paper presents research into the use of network Quality of Service (QoS) technologies to improve the performance of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems. The paper explores state-of-the-art QoS technologies and implementations and provides a framework for the provision of QoS for ERP systems that utilize Internet Protocol (IP) networks. Four individual case studies, including both leading ERP vendors and network technology vendors, were conducted. Cross-case analysis confirmed that the traditional approaches for ensuring the performance of ERP systems on IP networks do not address network congestion and latency effectively, nor do they offer guaranteed network service quality for ERP systems. Moreover, cross-case comparative data analysis also reviewed existing QoS implementations and suggested that while QoS is being acknowledged increasingly by enterprises as an important issue, its deployment remains limited. The proposed framework focuses on providing a structured approach to implement end-to-end IP QoS that accommodates both ERP systems and their Web-enabled versions, based on traffic classification mechanisms.

Oracle Erp and Network Computing Architecture: Implementation and Performance

Enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems enable firms to attain information technology integration. Such integration results in a uniform information system across the entire organization, thus augmenting performance. in this article, the issues and performance of Oracle ERP are discussed based on perspicacious exploratory analyses conducted in two manufacturing firms located in Ohio and Wisconsin. the factors of influence to implement Oracle ERP systems, various issues involved in the process of implementation, and performance of the systems are discussed in detail. the triangulation technique was used to make sure that the qualitative and quantitative findings were congruent. the results of the quantitative analysis and details of the constructs and items identified to measure the constructs are explained elsewhere by the first author. Oracle ERP systems enabled these firms to perform better by simplifying and streamlining their information retrieval and dissemination processes. Oracle's Web-based network computing architecture (NCA) offers many advantages, such as higher scalability and better coordination with suppliers and customers. These case studies provided a foundation for future research to build theoretical models.

A multi-agent intelligent system for efficient ERP maintenance

Abstract The Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system is an enterprise-wide integrated software package designed to uphold the highest quality standards of business process. However, for the time being, when the business condition has been changed, the system may not guarantee that the process embedded in ERP is still best. Moreover, since the ERP system is very complex, maintaining the system by trial and error is very costly. Hence, this paper aims to construct a support system that adjusts ERP system to environmental changes. To do so, we adopt multi-agent intelligent technology that enables autonomous cooperation with one another to monitor ERP databases and to find any exceptional changes and then analyze how the changes will affect ERP performance. Moreover, Petri net is applied to manage the complexity and dynamics of agents’ behavior. To show the feasibility of the idea, a prototype agent system, ERP/PN, is proposed and an experiment is conducted.
