For those with access to the standard languages in use, language allows the sharing of ideas and experiences but with the limitation that the culture embedded in one language may not translate to another. Similarly, for those not able to convey their thoughts in a standard language, their words can be obscured in the translation by foreign counterparts that can. It is with this limitation that context related to the transmission of information, stories, and research across cultures and languages requires visibility. We are dedicated at Sustainability and Climate Change to represent the global south and north and convey information from varying methodologies in an accessible way to promote understanding and compassion across geographic boundaries. Over the past few months, we have provided insight with respect to climate change action in India and Sri Lanka to Indonesia, Italy, Brazil, and the United States. Each article highlighted aspects of sustainability and climate impacts that increased understanding of differences, while highlighting the common issue we face, the speed of climate change. In this issue we begin with a viewpoint on the circular economy and its relationship to ecological economics. In our commentary, we explore the relationship between gender and productivity in village enterprises in Indonesia, and our student perspective posits how in the United States we can better assess sustainability traction in higher education. Our book reviews both provide a historical backdrop related to our present global status and our four articles all address the common theme of behavior across different scenarios and countries. These articles provide a basis of understanding how sustainability and climate change are affecting people across the globe. However, it is not enough just to know what is happening elsewhere, it is important to be engaged with it as well. As we move forward this year, we look forward to welcoming a broader cross section of disciplines and interdisciplinary research and reporting. Our goal is to ensure that we foster empathy, a cohesive aspect of community, which in turn is tied to trust, resilience, and ultimately sustainability.Thank you for your readership!Madhavi Venkatesan, PhDEditor-in-ChiefFiguresReferencesRelatedDetails Volume 15Issue 3Jun 2022 InformationCopyright 2022, Mary Ann Liebert, Inc., publishersTo cite this article:Common but Differentiated.Sustainability and Climate Change.Jun 2022.161-161.http://doi.org/10.1089/scc.2022.29016.mvPublished in Volume: 15 Issue 3: June 23, 2022PDF download
