A sustainable Ethereum merge-based Big-Data gathering and dissemination in IIoT System

The Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) has captured the attention of various smart farming industries in recent years by connecting physical objects of smart farms over the internet so that they can be discovered and queried globally using Enterprise Application Software (EAS). This continuous transmission and processing poses a significant challenge in dealing with the massive amount of Big-Data being gathered and disseminated. As more applications use cloud platforms to increase storage capacity by storing Big-Data on an untrusted cloud server, data security precautions should be taken. However, with the rapid increase in the number of IIoT devices and EAS end-users and their diverse categories, the existing device authentication mechanisms in IIoT suffer from single factor authentication and poor adaptability. In light of the security requirements in IIoT Big-Data sharing using untrusted cloud servers, we present in this paper a sustainable Ethereum merge-based Big-Data gathering and dissemination in IIoT system. Extensive theoretical and simulation results validate data gathering with a business incentive mechanism with a proper data propagation threshold is an important parameter for determining equilibrium and analysing dynamic properties of IIoT system, which directly affects data processing speed and its final state. The Ethereum merge mechanism controls data dissemination instances in both the industry and EAS through classification and integrity verification using distributed authentication devices. Proof-of-stake is used for this purpose, which uses randomly selected validators to confirm transactions and add new ledgers to consortium blockchains to transfer data using partial secrets, making it fast, secure, and sustainable. Our proposed scheme outperforms other state-of-the-art schemes in simulation over Hyperledger Fabric with improved security measures.

Causal Knowledge Modelling for Agile Development of Enterprise Application Systems

Experience shows that Agile project management tools such as Atlassian Jira capture the state of EAS projects by relying solely on expert judgement that is not supported by any knowledge model. Therefore, the assessment of project content against strategic objectives and business domain features are not supported by any tool. This is one of the reasons why Agile project management still does not provide sufficient EAS project delivery results. In order to address this problem, the Enterprise Application Software (EAS) development using Agile project management is summarized in a conceptual model. The model highlights the knowledge used and indicates its nature (empirical or causal digitized). The modified Agile management process we have developed and described in previous works is based on causal knowledge models that supports EAS development and Agile management processes. The purpose of this article is to specify knowledge repository to ensure the Agile management solutions of an EAS project are aligned with strategic goals and business domain causality. It is worth noticing that strategic goals have been identified and specified as capabilities using some enterprise architecture framework (NAF, MODAF, ArchiMate, etc.). The novelty of the proposed method is incorporating the business domain causal knowledge modelling approach into the Agile project management process. The causal knowledge unit is considered as a Management Transaction (MT), which includes closed loop dependence of its components. The modified Agile activity hierarchy (theme, initiative, epic, user story) defines the required content of their mutual interactions. An important new results obtained are the conceptual model of causal knowledge base (KB) and specification of enhanced Agile management tool components: project management database and project state assesment knowledge base. Causal KB includes specification of causal knowledge unit (MT metamodel) and specifications of traditional and causal Agile hierarchy meta-models. These conceptual models define the causal knowledge components necessary to evaluate the state of Agile activities in the EAS development project using intelligent Agile project management tool.

A Prescriptive Analytical Logic Model for Error Analysis on Enterprise Level of Software Application

Despite its multiple periods, Information Technology (IT) continues to accelerate its growth. Today, the great bulk of corporate operations rely heavily on software programs. Particularly for businesses that rely on the software application to handle a high volume of commercial transactions. As the volume of daily business transactions increases, it is undesirable to extend the downtime window associated with a malfunctioning software application. Regardless of the variety of variables or causes that can result in a severe error in a software application and consequent downtime. If the fundamental cause of a software application's unavailability can be reliably determined within the service level agreement (SLA) or even lower, the downtime timeframe can be reduced. However, the principal cause of the error could be within the software application layer or could be caused by an external factor. This complicates the root cause analysis procedure, much more so when dealing with an enterprise software application with many levels of security (such as a client tier, a web tier, an application layer, middleware, and database tier). In these circumstances, accurately identifying the root cause becomes far more challenging, as root cause analysis requires more than one event recording file (i.e., log file). With this degree of complication, the duration of the root cause analysis activity may be prolonged. The total amount of time required increases, and the rise in total analysis time suggests that it may take longer to restore the software service for users. It is essential to have a logic model capable of precisely identifying the error's root cause. The significance of the Prescriptive Analytical Logic Model (PALM) lies in the fact that it includes not only supervised learning for error detection and optimal treatment of the identified root cause but also AHP for prioritizing which errors to resolve first. The optimum treatment is to reduce the time required for root cause analysis procedures and increase their accuracy by resolving the legitimate error with the highest priority.

Causal Interactions in Agile Application Development

The Agile approach and tools are popular for the management of Enterprise Application Software (EAS) development. This article focuses on the issue of inconsistency between strategic business objectives and the functionality of the software developed. Agile management tools lack the functionality of EAS project activities coordination. This article aims to rethink Agile project management using the causal modelling approach. A causal model of Agile project management using a management transaction (MT) concept was developed. The notion of the space of processes was used to identify the MTs location along the axes of aggregation, generalization, and time and to formalize their interaction specifications. Taxonomy of the coordination meta-types and types was developed using the identifiers of the MTs. The modified Agile activities hierarchy was developed, and vertical and horizontal causal interactions between Agile activities were identified. This modified Agile management model helps to consistently track the integrity of EAS project content. Complexity indicators were introduced to evaluate the EAS project complexity and their average and normalized values are presented. Additional attributes in the Agile management tool Jira are proposed. Monitoring mismatch between strategic business objectives and development activities content helps to improve the success of EAS projects delivery.

Dynamic service composition in enterprise cloud bus architecture

Purpose Service composition phenomenon based on non-scenario aspects are become the latest issues in enterprise software applications of the multi-cloud environment due to the phenomenal increase in a number of Web services. The traditional service composition patterns are hard to support the dynamic, flexible and autonomous service composition in the inter-cloud platform. To address this problem, this paper aims to describe a dynamic service composition framework (SCF) that is enriched with various structural and functional aspects of composition patterns in a cloud computing environment. The proposed methodology helps to integrate various heterogeneous cloud services dynamically to acquire an optimal and novel enterprise solution for delivering the service to the end-users automatically. Design/methodology/approach SCF and different composition patterns have been used to compose the services present in the inter-cloud architecture of the multi-agent-based system. Further, the proposed dynamic service composition algorithm is illustrated using a hybrid approach, where service are chosen according to various needs of quality of service parameters. Besides, a priority-based service scheduling algorithm is proposed that facilitates the automation of delivering cloud service optimally. Findings The proposed framework is capable of composing the heterogeneous service and facilitate the structural and functional aspects of service composition process in enterprise cloud-based applications in terms of flexibility, scalability, integrity and dynamicity of the cloud bus. The advantage of the proposed algorithm is that it helps to minimize the execution cost, processing time and get better success rate in delivering the service as per customer’s need. Originality/value The novelty of the proposed architecture coordinates cloud participants, automate service discovery pattern, reconfigure scheduled services and focus on aggregating a composite services in inter-cloud environments. Besides, the proposed framework supported several non-functional characteristics such as robustness, flexibility, dynamicity, scalability and reliability of the system.

A TCO Model for Supporting the Configuration of Industrial Plants

In the current industrial context, where processes are extremely flexible to meet the changes of the market demand, the traditional strategies for managing the design and investment of industrial assets are too restrictive. Indeed, such strategies just consider the procurement price of an asset rather than its lifecycle cost. In this framework, the paper proposes a Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) model that can be adopted in B2B context for establishing the best asset configuration and procurement strategy by considering its CAPEX and OPEX. Such a TCO model has been implemented into an Enterprise Application Software for supporting the TCO evaluation. The presented model and software tool have been applied within an Italian food company for supporting the assets investment management.

Cloud migration process—A survey, evaluation framework, and open challenges

Moving mission-oriented enterprise software applications to cloud environments is a crucial IT task and requires a systematic approach. The foci of this paper is to provide a detailed review of extant cloud migration approaches from the perspective of the process model. To this aim, an evaluation framework is proposed and used to appraise and compare existing approaches for highlighting their features, similarities, and key differences. The survey distills the status quo and makes a rich inventory of important activities, recommendations, techniques, and concerns that are common in a typical cloud migration process in one place. This enables both academia and practitioners in the cloud computing community to get an overarching view of the process of the legacy application migration to the cloud. Furthermore, the survey identifies a number challenges that have not been yet addressed by existing approaches, developing opportunities for further research endeavours.

Development and Instrumentation of a Framework for the Generation and Management of Self-Adaptive Enterprise Applications

Companies’ operations have become over-dependent on their supporting enterprise software applications. This situation has placed a heavy burden onto software maintenance teams who are expected to keep these applications up and running optimally in varying execution conditions. However, this high human intervention drives up the overall costs of software ownership. In addition, the current dynamic nature of enterprise applications constitutes challenges with respect to their architectural design and development, and the guarantee of the agreed quality requirements at runtime. Efficiently and effectively achieving the adaptation of enterprise applications requires an autonomic solution. In this paper we present SHIFT, a framework that provides (i) facilities and mechanisms for managing self-adaptive enterprise applications through the use of an autonomic infrastructure, and (ii) automated derivation of self-adaptive enterprise applications and their respective monitoring infrastructure. Along with the framework, our work leads us to propose a reference specification and architectural design for implementing self-adaptation autonomic infrastructures. We developed a reference implementation of SHIFT; our contribution includes the development of monitoring infrastructures, and dynamic adaptation planning and automated derivation strategies.

Domain-Based Benchmark Experiments: Exploratory and Inferential Analysis

Benchmark experiments are the method of choice to compare learning algorithms empirically. For collections of data sets, the empirical performance distributions of a set of learning algorithms are estimated, compared, and ordered. Usually this is done for each data set separately. The present manuscript extends this single data set-based approach to a joint analysis for the complete collection, the so called problem domain. This enablesto decide which algorithms to deploy in a specific application or to compare newly developed algorithms with well-known algorithms on established problem domains.Specialized visualization methods allow for easy exploration of huge amounts of benchmark data. Furthermore, we take the benchmark experiment design into account and use mixed-effects models to provide a formal statistical analysis. Two domain-based benchmark experiments demonstrate our methods: the UCI domain as a well-known domain when one is developing a new algorithm; and the Grasshopper domain as a domain where we want to find the best learning algorithm for a prediction component in an enterprise application software system.

Pattern-Based Coarse-Grained Component Modelling for Enterprise Application Software Developing

To improve the efficiency of ESA (Enterprise Application Software) development, component-based software development is a good solution. However, though those general software components, like JavaBean, COM/COM+ (Component Object Model), are maturely used to develop ESAs, it is still too inefficient to industrialize ESA development. This is because design of software component has a tightly correlation with the inner structure of an ESA and should not be independent from architecture of ESA. By analysing software patterns and characteristics, a business component (BC) modelling based on pattern is proposed first. Then a BC scheduling pattern and an executable workflow model are presented to show the principle by which BCs are organized and scheduled. The proposed method is a PSM (Platform-Specific Model) modelling which a part of MDA (Model-Driven Architecture) based framework. Finally, a case is showed that our method can provide theoretical and practical significance to the development software of ESA.

THE EVALUATION OF ENTERPRISE APPLICATION INTEGRATION APPROACHES TO RESOLVE POSTAL PARCEL DELIVERY TRANSPORT ROUTING PROBLEMS

Information Technologies (IT) create interconnected application software. Nowadays, one of the vital problems is the enterprise application software integration. Systems of the transport routing become more complicated, because in order to efficiently solve transport routing and planning problems, it is necessary to get more and more information. Enterprise application methods and technologies allow to create effective transport routing system. To structure integration solutions, can be used different options and solutions, as well as platform of integration, but vital problem is the choice of the most suitable integration approach. The aim of this paper is to evaluate several accessible integration solutions. Integration options are identified and classified according to integration approach and technologies used in this paper. In practical assessment of integration technologies, post parcel delivery and routing process is used as an example, for which it is necessary to create effective GPS/GIS/ERP integration solution. For this problem, several alternative solutions have been developed. They have been evaluated according to their high-speed, easily of development and modification, as well as other parameters.

Migration of Enterprise Software Applications to Multiple Clouds: A Feature Based Approach

 Abstract—Cloud computing is a growing buzz in today's IT world. Many organizations are now adopting cloud computing techniques in industrial applications. As a result of the growing interest towards hosting applications in cloud there are a number of cloud service providers in the market. New products are launched continuously to make cloud hosting simple and feasible. But there are some challenges that prevent cloud platforms from being widely adopted. One of the major challenges in adopting cloud computing is the portability of applications across various clouds. Cloud based applications are normally provided as services offered by different cloud service providers. The different implementations of cloud computing services developed by each cloud provider resulted in heterogeneity of APIs which the cloud application developers find it difficult to understand and implement. This is called vendor lock-in and it increases the effort in application development. In many cases there is a need for supporting multiple clouds since one cloud provider many not always cater to the needs of an organization. And they might require a different cloud service for their applications. This paper aims to systematically analyze the different existing approaches on cloud migration to analyze the gap and report an approach based on feature models. DSkyL is an eclipse plugin which is in development phase which uses feature models to generate platform independent image files. The paper gives an overview about the architecture of DSkyL.

SAP appointed Ramakrishna Potluri, Lead Consultant, SAP, to manage the design and implementation of the e-tendering module as a part of e-procurement solution for the public sector. The reporting and the security concerns were stated by OILGIAN, and Potluri reassured that his competent team would comply with the needs. The main predicaments that he was going through were that how best he could take the proposition forward. Should he create the innovative solutions in-house or co-create with the customers? Which business models should he follow for this public–private co-innovation to be a predecessor of successful projects? Integration of Independent Applications and EAI Systems using Service Oriented Enterprise Bus and Open System Application Development Standards
