Unlocking Chlorine Oxide‐Based Ultra‐Wideband Near‐Infrared Phosphor and Advancing Spectral Performance via Lattice Engineering

AbstractNear‐infrared (NIR) phosphor‐converted light–emitting diodes (pc‐LEDs) are increasingly used in night vision, surveillance, and biomedicine. A major challenge is to identify a phosphor that efficiently converts blue light into wideband NIR emission. In this paper, a rare‐earth divalent europium (Eu2+)‐activated halogen oxide (Sr3GeO4Cl2) phosphor is unlocked via a high‐temperature solid‐state reaction. The Sr3GeO4Cl2:Eu2+ phosphor emits a wide spectrum (500–950 nm) with a peak at 700 nm when excited by 450 nm blue light. Extended X‐ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) analysis reveals that the NIR emission primarily originates from Eu2+ ions, and the Eu─O bond length closely resembles the Sr─O bond length. Lattice engineering, specifically Ge/Si cation substitution, increased Eu2+ incorporation into the crystal lattice, boosting luminescence intensity by 75%–122% and quantum efficiency from 15% to 26%. This is related to the combined effect of reduced non‐radiative energy transfer and changes in the local lattice structure of Eu2+. A NIR pc‐LED device using the optimized phosphor showed a photoelectric efficiency of 16.5% and an optical output of 25.07 mW at 100 mA. This study not only explores new Eu2+‐activated NIR phosphors but also highlights the importance of crystal engineering to enhance luminescence properties, guiding future research for efficient NIR pc‐LED development.

Pure Green Ag–In–Ga–S/Ga–S Quantum Dot Light‐Emitting Diodes with Electron Transport Materials Exhibiting Enhanced Luminescence Properties

AbstractQuantum dots (QDs) are essential luminescent materials with applications in wide‐color‐gamut displays requiring exceptional color reproducibility. Multinary semiconductor QDs composed of groups I, III and VI elements are expected to serve as eco‐friendly materials to replace conventional QDs owing to the potential narrow spectral widths and tunable bandgaps of the former. Although optimized Ag–In–Ga–S/Ga–S core/shell QDs (AIGS QDs) have exhibited vibrant green emissions, electroluminescence from QD‐based light‐emitting diodes (QLEDs) incorporating these AIGS QDs is reduced as a consequence of the effects of defect sites. The present work therefore examines the incorporation of electron transport materials (ETMs) into AIGS QD emitting layers. A device incorporating emitting layers composed of AIGS QDs and 2,4,6‐tris(3‐(3‐pyridyl)phenyl)‐1,3,5‐triazine (TmPPyTz), with the latter acting as a highly conductive ETM, exhibits a low driving voltage and high efficiency. Furthermore, the addition of two ETMs — TmPPyTz and tris(2,4,6‐trimethyl‐3‐(pyridin‐3‐yl)phenyl)borane — is found to provide enhanced luminescence properties because these materials are deposited in the emitting layer in different forms and hence has varying effects in terms of improving conductivity and charge balance. The resulting QLEDs have a sharp spectral width of 30 nm, suggesting a level of color purity suitable for wide‐color‐gamut displays.

Organic-Inorganic Hybrid Glasses of Atomically Precise Nanoclusters.

Organic-inorganic atomically precise nanoclusters provide indispensable building blocks for establishing structure-property links in hybrid condensed matter. However, robust glasses of ligand-protected nanocluster solids have yet to be demonstrated. Herein, we show [Cu4I4(PR3)4] cubane nanoclusters coordinated by phosphine ligands (PR3) form robust melt-quenched glasses in air with reversible crystal-liquid-glass transitions. Protective phosphine ligands critically influence the glass formation mechanism, modulating the glasses' physical properties. A hybrid glass utilizing ethyldiphenylphosphine-based nanoclusters, [Cu4I4(PPh2Et)4], exhibits superb optical properties, including >90% transmission in both visible and near-infrared wavelengths, negligible self-absorption, near-unity quantum yield, and high light yield. Experimental and theoretical analyses demonstrate the structural integrity of the [Cu4I4(PPh2Et)4] nanocluster, i.e., iodine-bridged tetranuclear cubane, has been fully preserved in the glass state. The strong internanocluster CH-π interactions found in the [Cu4I4(PPh2Et)4] glass and subsequently reduced structural vibration account for its enhanced luminescence properties. Moreover, this highly transparent glass enables performant X-ray imaging and low-loss waveguiding in fibers drawn above the glass transition. The discovery of "nanocluster glass" opens avenues for unraveling glass formation mechanisms and designing novel luminescent glasses of well-defined building blocks for advanced photonics.

A Review on Multiple I-III-VI Quantum Dots: Preparation and Enhanced Luminescence Properties.

I-III-VI type QDs have unique optoelectronic properties such as low toxicity, tunable bandgaps, large Stokes shifts and a long photoluminescence lifetime, and their emission range can be continuously tuned in the visible to near-infrared light region by changing their chemical composition. Moreover, they can avoid the use of heavy metal elements such as Cd, Hg and Pb and highly toxic anions, i.e., Se, Te, P and As. These advantages make them promising candidates to replace traditional binary QDs in applications such as light-emitting diodes, solar cells, photodetectors, bioimaging fields, etc. Compared with binary QDs, multiple QDs contain many different types of metal ions. Therefore, the problem of different reaction rates between the metal ions arises, causing more defects inside the crystal and poor fluorescence properties of QDs, which can be effectively improved by doping metal ions (Zn2+, Mn2+ and Cu+) or surface coating. In this review, the luminous mechanism of I-III-VI type QDs based on their structure and composition is introduced. Meanwhile, we focus on the various synthesis methods and improvement strategies like metal ion doping and surface coating from recent years. The primary applications in the field of optoelectronics are also summarized. Finally, a perspective on the challenges and future perspectives of I-III-VI type QDs is proposed as well.

Structural and Photoluminescence Properties of Pr, Cu Co-Doped ZnO Nanoparticles Synthesized by Chemical Co-Precipitation Method

At room temperature, zinc oxide (ZnO) nanoparticles co-doped with praseodymium (Pr) and copper (Cu) using a low-cost chemical co-precipitation method. As a capping agent, polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) was used for synthesizing the nanosamples, and a pH of 9 was maintained. The synthesis of nanosamples was then characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) and photoluminescence (PL). X-ray diffraction studies revealed the wurtzite hexagonal structure of ZnO, and no impurity peaks were found. The particle size obtained from XRD studies was 32 to 46 nm and is well supported by TEM. SEM micrographs demonstrated the surface morphology of the samples. With Cu dopant concentration, Pr-doped ZnO nanosamples exhibited enhanced luminescence properties.

Luminescent Zirconocene Complexes with Pendant Phosphine Chalcogenide Donor Groups

Neutral zirconocene complexes of the type [(η5-C5Me5){η5-C5H4CMe2P(═E)Ph2}ZrCl2] (E = not present, O, S, or Se) with a cyclopentadienyl-attached phosphine and related phosphine oxide, sulfide, or selenide moiety were prepared and converted to their cationic counterparts by chloride abstraction with K[B(C6F5)4] to give compounds of the general formula [(η5-C5Me5){η5-C5H4CMe2P(═E)Ph2-κE}ZrCl]+[B(C6F5)4]−. Alternatively, the chloride abstraction was accomplished by the reaction with ZnCl2 to give the same cationic species with a [Zn2Cl6]2– counteranion. The ionic complexes, unlike the neutral counterparts, exhibited strongly enhanced luminescence properties originating in triplet ligand-to-metal (3LMCT) excited states. Luminescence quantum yields up to 0.95 were determined in the solid state with luminescence lifetimes up to 50.6 μs. In addition to structural characterization of the prepared complexes by X-ray diffraction methods, their electrochemistry was investigated by cyclic voltammetry, and their photophysical properties were studied with quantum-chemical calculations.

Stimuli Response of Eu3+-Based Metallo-Supramolecular Polymers toward Pharmaceutical Amines.

Metallo-supramolecular polymers offer a highly controllable platform for sensing. Their modular characteristics obtained by the ability of varying both building blocks, the metal ion and the organic ligand, provide tunability of their optical and chemical properties. Specifically, polymers based on lanthanide ions and conjugated aromatic ligands exhibit enhanced luminescence properties that can be altered by external stimulation. Herein, using europium-based polymers, we demonstrate the ability to detect different pharmaceutical amines, including in complex biological media, based on their luminescence quenching efficiency as a result of their polymer dissociation capacity. A combination of absorption, luminescence, and NMR measurements reveals combined static and dynamic quenching mechanisms that enable selective sensing of strong basic amines with high pKa values.

Simple fabrication of PVA/PEG blend doped with methyl blue dye with superior optical limiting performance: Enhanced luminescence property, structural, and dielectric properties

Using the casting technique, films of 90 wt% PVA/ 10 wt% PEG blend doped with numerous concentrations of methyl blue dye (MYB) were prepared. The effect of methyl blue dye on the unique functional groups of PVA and PEG was detected using a Fourier Transform infrared (FT-IR) spectrometer. The PVA/PEG blend's semi-crystalline characteristic was discovered via the X-ray diffraction pattern. With a rise in MYB doping concentration, the crystallinity of the doped blends degrades. The optical characteristics of the PVA/PEG mixture and the PVA/PEG mixture doped with various concentrations of (MYB)have been measured, including the absorption, transmission, reflection spectra, optical energy gap, optical absorption coefficient, and extinction coefficient. As the MYB dye's weight percentage increases, the composites show a decreasing energy gap and an increasing refractive index. As MYB doping rose, Urbach's energy surged from 8.5 meV to 28.88 meV. (PVA-PEG)/MYB composites demonstrated acceptable optical limiting characteristics. The emission peaks in terms of photoluminescence characteristics shiftto red with rising MYB content in (PVA-PEG)/MYB MYB composite sample films, with the peak emission occurring at wavelength λem = 600 nm. According to research done in the frequency range of 100 Hz to 1 MHz, the MYB contents impact the dielectric characteristics and AC electrical conductivity. All of the aforementioned characteristics point to the (PVA-PEG)/MYB polymer composite as a promising choice for laser filters, solar cell technology, electric energy storage, and different optoelectronic applications.

The influence of lithium ion incorporation on the luminescence enhancement of Gd2O3:Pr3+ nanophosphors for lighting applications

In this study, nanosized Gd2O3: Pr3+ and Li+ co-doped Gd2O3: Pr3+ were synthesised by solution combustion method for analysing the structural, morphological and optical properties. X-ray diffraction patterns of as-prepared Gd2O3:Pr3+ indicated the existence of multiphase crystallites and it transformed to pure cubic phase upon annealing. Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) images confirmed that the particles are spherical. Upon 321 nm excitation, Gd2O3: Pr3+ phosphor exhibits characteristic emission bands at 613 nm, 529 nm and 439 nm. The photoluminescence emission intensity was found maximum for 2 wt% Pr3+ doped Gd2O3 powders. Li+ ions were co-doped into this Gd2O3:Pr3+ phosphor and were found to induce a considerable enhancement in PL emission intensity. Lithium co-doped samples crystallize in cubic structure. Raman spectra of the Li+ co-doped phosphors revealed characteristic Ag+ Fg mode of the cubic phase of Gd2O3, apart from other independent modes. The maximum emission intensity was obtained for 0.5 wt% Li+ co-doped samples, with an improved intensity of about 2.87 times that of Gd2O3:Pr3+. The new composition Gd2O3: Pr3+: Li+ with enhanced luminescence properties can be employed as a red light emitting phosphor for white light emitting diodes (WLEDs).

Chemically Functionalized Gold Nanosphere-Blended Nematic Liquid Crystals for Photonic Applications.

A demand for functional materials that are capable of tailoring light-emissive properties has apparently been rising nowadays substantially for their utilization in organic optoelectronic devices. Motivated by such promising characteristics, we present highly emissive as well as aggregation-induced emission (AIE) electroluminescent composite systems composed of a nematic liquid crystals (NLC) blended with polyethylene-functionalized gold nanospheres (GNSs). The major findings of this study include superior electro-optical properties such as threshold voltage reduction by around 24%. The fall time is reduced by 11.50, 30.33, 49.33, and 63.17% respectively, and rotational viscosity is reduced by 13.86, 32.77, 36.97, and 49.58% for 5.0 × 1011, 5.0 × 1012, 2.5 × 1013, and 5.0 × 1013 number of GNS-blended liquid crystal (LC) cells. The increased UV absorbance and greatly enhanced luminescence properties have been attributed to surface plasmon resonance near the surface of GNSs and AIE effect risen due to agglomeration of the capping agent with the NLC molecules respectively, and these characteristics make them suitable for new-age display applications.

Er-doped zinc-silicate glass-ceramics with enhanced emission in the near-infrared region

Erbium-doped lasers and amplifiers exhibit emission around 1.5 μm, which makes them perspective in various applications, such as telecommunications, material processing or defence. The conventionally used silica glass suffers from various drawbacks, such as low solubility of erbium ions or high phonon energy of the silica lattice, which limit the luminescence properties. The zinc-silicate glass-ceramics containing ZnO or Zn2SiO4 nanocrystals represent a suitable alternative. The incorporation of erbium ions into the nanocrystals should result in the enhancement of luminescence properties. In this work, we prepared a zinc-silicate glass-ceramic material containing Zn2SiO4 nanocrystals by the controlled heat treatment of a precursor glass. The luminescence properties of the 1.5 μm emission were measured and the influence of the crystallization on the near-infrared emission was evaluated.

Enhanced luminescence properties through heavy ancillary ligands in [Pt(C^N^C)(L)] complexes, L = AsPh3 and SbPh3.

In the frame of our research aiming to develop efficient triplet-emitting materials, we are exploring the concept of introducing additional heavy atoms into cyclometalated transition metal complexes to enhance intersystem-crossing (ISC) and thus triplet emission through increased spin-orbit coupling (SOC). In an in-depth proof-of-principle study we investigated the double cyclometalated Pt(II) complexes [Pt(C^N^C)(PnPh3)] (HC^N^CH = 2,6-diphenyl-pyridine (H2dpp) or dibenzoacridine (H2dba); Pn = pnictogen atoms P, As, Sb, or Bi) through a combined experimental and theoretical approach. The derivatives containing Pn = P, As, and Sb were synthesised and characterised comprehensively using single crystal X-ray diffraction (scXRD), UV-vis absorption and emission spectroscopy, transient absorption (TA) spectroscopy and cyclic voltammetry (CV). Across the series P < As < Sb, a red-shift is observed concerning absorption and emission maxima as well as optical and electrochemical HOMO-LUMO gaps. Increased photoluminescence quantum yields ΦL and radiative rates kr from mixed metal-to-ligand charge transfer (MLCT)/ligand centred (LC) triplet states are observed for the heavier homologues. Transient absorption spectroscopy showed processes in the ps range that were assigned to the population of the T1 state by ISC. The heavy PnPh3 ancillary ligands are found to enhance the emission efficiency due to both higher Pt-Pn bond strength and stronger SOC related to increased MLCT character of the excited states. The experimental findings are mirrored in hybrid (TD-)DFT calculations. This allowed for extrapolation to the rather elusive Bi derivatives, which were synthetically not accessible. This shortcoming is attributed to the transmetalation of phenyl groups from BiPh3 to Pt, as supported by experimental NMR/MS as well as DFT studies.

Synthesis, characterization and photophysical behaviour of some Tb(III) complexes based on 6,8-dichlorochromone-3-carboxaldehyde as primary ligand

Four green luminescent Tb(III) complexes have been synthesized using a bidentate ligand 6,8-dichlorochromone-3-carboxaldehyde (L) and neutral heterocyclic ancillary ligands. The complexes showed characteristic Tb(III) ion emission bands at 491 nm, 546 nm, 586 nm, and 623 nm, on irradiation with 345 nm. The excellent green luminescence shown by the complexes is due to prominent 5D4→7F5 transition at 546 nm. Three primary ligands and one secondary ligand around the metal ion provide a highly shielded environment, leading to enhanced luminescence properties of synthesized ternary complexes such as quantum yield (ϕTb = 48.76 %); longer lifetime period (τobs = 0.734 ms); intrinsic quantum yield (ηTb = 23.67 %); and radiative rate (KRad = 6.64 × 102 s−1). The ternary complexes deliver higher thermal stability, up to 170 °C.

Enhanced luminescence properties and device applications of Tb3+-doped Cs4PbBr6 perovskite quantum dot glass

Cs4PbBr6 perovskite quantum dots (QDs) have unique optoelectronic properties and are expected to become a new generation of luminescent materials. However, poor stability, low photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY), and poor understanding as to the origin of photoluminescence behavior limit its further application. In this study, a series of Tb3+-doped Cs4PbBr6 perovskite QD glasses with excellent stability were obtained through the optimization of Tb3+ doping concentration and in-situ crystallization temperature. Density functional theory calculations and experimental characterization showed that an appropriate amount of lattice-incorporated Tb3+ ions can reduce structural defects in QDs, improve the PLQY, and reduce the QD heavy-metal requirements. Notably, the maximum PLQY value reached 47%, which is near to the Cs4PbBr6 perovskite crystal. Furthermore, a high-performance white light-emitting diode (WLED) device was prepared. The device featured a color rendering index of 80 and luminous efficiency of 41 lm W−1. Finally, a QD glass with double emission peaks was prepared by controlling the in-situ crystallization temperature (550 °C). The temperature sensitivity of the QD glass was then studied using the fluorescence intensity ratio method. The maximum relative temperature sensitivity (Sr) reached 2.03% K−1, which is higher than the previously reported value. Thus, the method proposed in this study can greatly improve the photoluminescence properties of Cs4PbBr6 QD glass and expand its applications in WLED and visual temperature sensing.

Enhanced luminescence property of GaN-based LEDs with p-InGaN cap layer grown on p-GaN surface

The influence of a p-In0.06Ga0.94N cap layer grown on p-GaN on the device performance of GaN-based light-emitting diodes (LEDs) was investigated. Compared to conventional p-GaN LED structure, the light output power of p-InGaN/GaN structure LED was enhanced by 20% and the operating voltage decreased from 3.81 to 3.29 V under 20 mA injection current. Based on surface morphology and electrical analysis, these improvements were mainly attributed to the higher light extraction efficiency and lower contact resistence. It was observed that V-shaped pits appearing on the surface of p-InGaN increased surface roughness, resulting in higher extraction efficiency. After molten KOH etching to p-InGaN layer, the V-shaped pits became bigger, further increasing surface roughness. The larger surface roughness further increased light output power from 20% to 44%. In addition, the forward voltage under 20 mA increased from 3.29 V to 3.41 V which indicated etching process decreased the surface ohmic contact.

Antibacterial activity of biosynthesized ZnO nanoflakes using Pandanus tectorius leaf extracts

The crystalline structure and morphology of semiconductor nanoparticles are important factors for determining their optical properties. To synthesis such nanoparticles, green synthesis is one of the most popular methods. In these green synthesis procedures, the plant extracts can be added to control the growth and particle size. In this present work, ZnO nanoflakes are synthesized in a cost-effective green synthsis method using pandamus tecctorius leaf extract. The structure and morphology of as synthesized ZnO nanoflakes have been characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman Spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), photoluminescence (PL) spectrophotometry and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The SEM and TEM images reveal the formation of ZnO nanoflakes. The hexagonal wurtzite structure has been predicted from XRD results. Strong blue absorption and the enhanced luminescence property with respect to bulk have been observed from PL studies.

Photocatalytic activity of an Anderson-type polyoxometalate with mixed copper(I)/copper(II) ions for visible-light enhancing heterogeneous catalysis

The development of new catalysts that exhibit catalytic activity and enhance the catalysis under light-irradiation could help eliminate the barrier between traditional catalysts and photocatalysts. Herein, an organic-inorganic hybrid Anderson-type polyoxometalate (noted as POM 1) was synthesized by incorporating a [MnMo6O18] cluster and two rare three-coordinated copper sites, which were connected by the organic [(OCH2)3CNCH-4-Py] (Py ​= ​pyridine) moieties on both sides. The resultant POM 1 exhibited an enhanced luminescence property compared with the free [MnMo6O18] cluster. While in terms of photocatalytic activity, the prepared catalyst exhibited an excellent selective degradation ability toward a positive-charged methylene blue dye in an aqueous solution. Meanwhile, the X-ray photoelectron spectrometry analysis indicated the coexistence of Cu(I)/Cu(II) ions and suggested that the partly oxidized Cu(II) ions in 1 could be reduced to Cu(I) ions via the photoinduced electron transfer from the [MnMo6O18] unit. This in-situ reduction process provides an enhanced heterogeneous catalytic performance in terms of azide-alkyne cycloaddition, affording almost complete conversion within a 4 ​h irradiation using a 20 ​W household incandescent lamp as the light source at room temperature under solvent-free conditions.

Facile synthesis and enhanced luminescence properties of Cu2-xS@YF3:Yb–Er core-shell nanoparticles

Up-converting luminescent nanoparticles (UCNPs) have been arousing increasing attention in biomedical imaging because of their long-life emission and concomitant benefits (e.g., zero-autofluorescence background, low toxicity). However, the further development on the application has been limited by the low luminescence efficiency and intensity of UCNPs. Herein we report the design principle, synthesis route, and luminescence properties of core-shell structured Cu2-x[email protected]3:Yb–Er nanoparticles with strong luminescent property (red emission). The design principle leverages on the plasmon-enhanced localized electric fields effect of the interface of Cu2-xS and YF3:Yb–Er nanoparticles and photo-thermal effect of Cu2-xS. This strategy could enhanced luminescence properties of YF3:Yb–Er nanoparticles. The as-prepared Cu2-x[email protected]3:Yb–Er nanoparticles possessed stronger luminescent property (red emission) than individually dispersed YF3:Yb–Er nanoparticles. And the nanoparticles presented a dramatic red-shift that was due to the growth of YF3:Yb–Er on the Cu2-xS surface. The research supplies an insight on the development of nonmetallic plasmon-sensitized luminescent materials, and hopefully it could promote them application in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer.

Enhanced luminescence properties of Li2MgTiO4: Mn4+, Ge4+ phosphor via single cation substitution for indoor plant cultivation

Red and far-red emitting phosphors have been widely used in phosphor-converted light emitting diode (pc-LED) devices to provide lighting for indoor plant growth, thus achieving desired product qualities. Among the many ways to optimize phosphors’ optical performance, cationic substitution is one of the most effective methods. In this study, red phosphors (Li 2 MgTi 1- x - y O 4 : x Mn 4+ , y Ge 4+ ) were synthesized by high temperature solid state method and the optical performance of phosphors were improved with increasing Ge 4+ constituents. In particular, luminescence intensity of Li 2 MgTiO 4 : 0.002Mn 4+ , 0.1Ge 4+ increased by 152% under 468 nm excitation, and the thermostability of emission intensity increases from 22% ( y = 0) to 43% ( y = 0.1), which is about twice as much. Finally, pc-LED device was fabricated via the red phosphor Li 2 MgTiO 4 : 0.002Mn 4+ ,0.1Ge 4+ coated on a 470 nm ultraviolet chip. By changing the proportion of the phosphor, the electroluminescence spectra of pc-LED device could match well with the absorption regions of plant pigments. Therefore, Li 2 MgTiO 4 : 0.002Mn 4+ , 0.1Ge 4+ phosphor has potential application in plant lighting. Furthermore, this work can offer some helpful references for improving luminescent efficiency by simply modulating the chemical composition. The luminescence intensity of Li 2 MgTiO 4 : 0.002Mn 4+ , 0.1Ge 4+ increased by 152%. The thermostability of emission intensity increases from 22% ( y = 0) to 43% ( y = 0.1), which is about twice as much. Finally, the pc-LED device could emit bright blue and red light, which matched with the absorption regions of plant pigments well.

Structure and optic properties of the nanocomposites based on polypropylene and amorphous silica nanoparticles

The structure and optic properties of the transparent PP+SiO2 nanocomposites with a relatively high refractive index and enhanced luminescence properties were investigated. X-ray analysis, Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR), Visible-ultraviolet, and photoluminescence spectroscopic methods were used for investigation. The XRD analysis indicated that the fraction of the amorphous phase of the polycrystalline polymer decreases with the introduction of SiO2 nanoparticles. Even though SiO2 nanoparticle is amorphous itself, they play the role of the crystallinity centers in the polymer matrix, and the degree of crystallinity increases in polymer nanocomposites. According to UV-vis spectroscopic analysis that, with the increasing of the concentration of SiO2 nanoparticles distributed in the polymer matrix, the absorption intensity of the samples also increases. It was explained by the hyperchromic effect which is related to raising the optical density of the polymer by introducing the filler particles (SiO2). It was calculated bandgap energy and refractive index on the base of the UV spectra of samples. It has been found that at low concentrations of amorphous silica nanoparticles, the polymer nanocomposite retains its transparency despite having a relatively high refractive index (1.96). Furthermore, the photoluminescence (PL) spectrum of nanocomposites was investigated depending on filler concentration. It was clear that the intensity of the PL spectrums increases with the increase of the filler concentration that is explained by the raising of the luminescence centers in the nanocomposite material. These luminescence centers are oxygen-deficit centers in the spatial structure of the amorphous silica nanoparticles.
