Thermohydrodynamic study for the analysis of elliptical journal bearings has been presented in the present work for three different grade oils commercially available. Finite difference method has been adopted for numerical solution of the Reynolds and energy equation. Temperature in the oil film is computed using parabolic temperature profile approximation technique. A comparative study for rise in oil-temperatures, thermal pressures and load carrying capacity has been carried out. Comparison amongst three oils elucidates that the thermal degradation for oil 1 is the least, whereas the load carrying capacity for oil 3 is the highest.
