Acidic phosphonium-based ionic liquid encapsulated on titania particles with enhanced electrorheological response

Research on electrorheological (ER) fluids has led to significant advancements in the development of smart materials that adjust their viscosity in response to applied electric fields. This study focused on synthesizing titania ionogel-based particles (TiO2-IL) using an environmentally friendly sol-gel process involving tetrabutoxy-titanium (TBT) combined with an ionic liquid (IL), specifically 11-carboxyundecyl-triphenyl-phosphonium bromide. The successful incorporation of the IL into the TiO2 particles was confirmed through thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy and zeta potential analysis. The electrorheologial properties of TiO2-IL ionogel suspension in silicone oil were compared with those of pure TiO2 suspension. The addition of the ionic liquid (IL) significantly enhanced the electrorheological (ER) properties of the fluid, achieving a shear stress of approximately 1340Pa at an electric field strength of 5kV/mm. The fluid also exhibited excellent reversibility and a rapid response to changes in the electric field, which is attributed to the higher polarizability by the IL. Furthermore, the study observed low current density during operation, which helps maintain the fluid’s integrity and longevity under high electric fields. The fluids demonstrated stable ER effect across a temperature range of 40 to 70 ℃ and a reasonable sedimentation stability of around 80%. These characteristics, combined with the moderate conditions for particle preparation, make the TiO2-IL fluid a promising candidate for ER applications.

Preparation and electrorheological properties of a squared chromium-ion-doped MOF-Ti/SiO2 composite

Herein, a core–shell structured nanocomposite with excellent electrorheological (ER) properties was successfully prepared for studying ER fluids (ERFs). First, the material was prepared by using chromium (Cr)-ion-doped Ti-based metal–organic frameworks (MOF-Ti) as a template using the solvothermal method, followed by coating with SiO2 via hydrolysis to form Cr-MOF-Ti/SiO2 composite. In combination with the advantages of the MOF-Ti structure, such as more active sites and a high specific surface area, doping with transition metal ions and coating with SiO2 can effectively enhance the interfacial polarisation of the obtained Cr-MOF-Ti/SiO2 composite and thus improve its ER performance. Analyses were conducted on the morphology, elemental composition and functional groups of the materials using scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffractometer, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, Brunauer–Emmett–Teller and dielectric analysis. The results indicate successful Cr-ion doping and SiO2 coating. The ER performance of the composite particles was also evaluated. The results indicate that the SiO2-coated sample exhibits superior ER properties, including a smaller leakage current density and higher shear stress. Moreover, the SiO2 coating enhanced the interfacial polarisation capability of Cr-MOF-Ti, as verified by the dielectric data.

Enhancing particle string detection in electrorheological plasmas using asymmetrical kernel convolutional networks

Under different plasma conditions and electric fields in a complex plasma the plasma particles organize themselves in a string-like or chain-like manner. A phase transition from string-like to an isotropic particle distribution is observed at different electrical conditions. The streaming of charged ions around plasma particles with the surrounding electric field gives the plasma its electrorheological properties. The visibility of individual particles in a complex plasma opens up the opportunity to examine properties and phase transitions of such electrorheological fluids in detail. Because of the limited one-dimensional symmetry, determining the configuration of a particle and recognizing strings in particle distributions is not always straightforward. Several approaches have already been used to analyse particle clouds while either considering each particle locally or considering the particle cloud as a whole without providing information about single particle configurations. This paper presents a new machine learning approach that takes advantage of particle distributions over the entire particle cloud and detects all string-like particles at once, using a convolutional neural network in form of an encoder-decoder network with asymmetric kernel convolutions. This not only enhances the result quality but also accelerates the evaluation process, possibly enabling real-time analyses on electrorheological phase transitions, while achieving an accuracy of over 95% on manually labelled data.

Effects of promoter and dedoping process on electrorheological response of polyaniline-graft-chitosan copolymer

In this study, electrorheological (ER) properties of biodegradable and conducting polyaniline-graft-chitosan (PAni-g-CS) copolymer particles were investigated. For this purpose, PAni and PAni-g-CS particles were synthesized by using in situ oxidative radicalic polymerization method. At first, PAni and PAni-g-CS/silicone oil (SO) ER suspensions (15% V/V) were subjected to external electric field and they exhibited low ER activity. When the external electric field strengths ([Formula: see text] were increased, both the suspensions showed electrical breakdown. Therefore, virgin PAni and PAni-g-CS were first subjected to dedoping process by treating with 1.0 M NaOH(aq) and non-ionic surfactant Triton X-100 (T-X) surfactant to enhance the expected ER activity and prevent the electrical breakdown. But we observed that the addition of T-X as promoter had no significant effect on the ER activity. On the other hand, electric filed-induced viscosities of both the suspensions were observed to enhance after the dedoping (DD) process and electrical breakdown prohibited. After the DD process, DD PAni-g-CS/SO ER system exhibited the highest electric field-induced viscosity by reaching 400[Formula: see text]Pa[Formula: see text]⋅[Formula: see text]s at [Formula: see text][Formula: see text]kV/mm. The highest ER efficiency was also obtained for DD PAni-g-CS/SO system at 15% (V/V) as 79. Additionally, typical shear thinning non-Newtonian viscoelastic behavior was observed under externally applied E. The conduction model of DD PAni-g-CS/SO system was determined to well fit the conduction model by showing a slope of [Formula: see text] calculated from the E vb. yield stress graph. In conclusion, conducting and biodegradable-dedoped PAni-g-CS particles would be a good candidate for potential ER applications as dry-based ER materials having high colloidal stability of 76%.

Electrorheological and magnetorheological properties of liquid composites based on polypyrrole nanotubes/magnetite nanoparticles

This research presents an in-depth exploration of the electrical and magnetic properties of a polypyrrole nanotubes/magnetite nanoparticles (PPyM) material embedded in a silicone oil matrix. A key finding of our study is the dual nature of the composite, i.e. it exhibits a behaviour akin to both electro- and magnetorheological suspensions. This unique duality is evident in its response to varying electric and magnetic field intensities. Our study focuses on examining the electrical properties of the composite, including its dielectric permittivity and dielectric loss factor. Additionally, we conduct an extensive analysis of its rheological behavior, with a particular emphasis on how its viscosity changes in response to electromagnetic stimuli. This property notably underscores the material’s dual-responsive nature. Employing a custom experimental design, we integrate the composite into a passive electrical circuit element subjected to alternating electric fields. This methodological approach allows us to precisely measure the material’s response in terms of resistance, capacitance, and charge under different field conditions. Our findings reveal substantial changes in the material’s electrical conductivity and rheological characteristics, which are significantly influenced by the intensity of the applied fields. These results enhance the understanding of electro-magnetorheological properties of PPyM-based magnetic composites, and also highlight their potential in applications involving smart materials. The distinct electrical, magnetic and rheological modulation capabilities demonstrated by this composite render it as promising candidate for advanced applications. These include sensory technology, actuation systems, and energy storage solutions.

Interfacial polarization and electrorheological effect of homo-poly(ionic liquid) and poly(ionic liquid)-hexyl methacrylate copolymer microsphere particles

Homo-poly(ionic liquid) (HomoPIL) microsphere particles of poly[2-(methacryloyloxy)ethyltrimethylammonium][bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide] (P[MTMA][TFSI]) and poly[2-(methacryloyloxy)ethyltrimethylammonium][hexafluorophosphate] (P[MTMA][PF6]), as well as their corresponding copolymer microsphere particles obtained through copolymerization with hexyl methacrylate (HMA), were synthesized as electrorheological (ER) materials. The morphology and structure of these synthesized particles were characterized using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), 1H nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (1H NMR), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), and small-angle X-ray scattering spectra (SAXS). Electrorheological measurements were conducted for these polyelectrolyte-based suspensions at room temperature, revealing that the HMA composition has a different effect on the ER effect of the two poly(ionic liquid)s. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and temperature-modulated dielectric analysis (TMDA) were employed to investigate the effect of HMA composition on the glass transition temperature and interfacial polarization of these polyelectrolytes, suggesting that the incorporation of HMA affect the ER effect of PILs via changing the density of charge carriers and the counterion mobility. This study presents a potential approach for enhancing the electrorheological properties of poly(ionic liquid)s.

Mimicking Emotional Chinese Calligraphy Using a Variable Stiffness Flexible Gripper

AbstractFlexible grippers require appropriate stiffness to ensure stability and efficiency in unpredictable environments. While combining materials with variable stiffness and elastomers holds significant promise in this regard, concurrently achieving actuation and stiffness modulation typically results in heightened structural complexity and responsiveness issues. In this study, a giant electrorheological dielectric elastomer (GERDE) with high dielectric and high electrorheological (ER) properties is obtained by introducing giant electrorheological particles into silicone elastomers, further substantiating the ability to functionally couple actuation and stiffness‐tuning, as well as application of a flexible gripper in mimicking emotive calligraphy. Specifically, GERDE exhibits better actuating (area strain rate of 33%) and ER performance (storage modulus increment of 1.5 MP) than existing conventional dielectric elastomer (DE) actuators (such as PDMS and VHB4910) under a low electric field. Compared to reported flexible grippers, bionic flexible grippers based on GERDE actuator have enhanced actuation, stiffness adjustment capability (i.e., stiffness is increased by 2.4 times), fast response (≈180 ms), and coupling effect, and can write Chinese calligraphy of different emotions by the same trajectory. This work provides ideas and methods for achieving the integration of actuator‐variable stiffness and emotional transmission in robots.

Superior nanocomposites of phosphonium-based poly(ionic liquid) with halloysite and graphene oxide: Electrorheological investigations

Phosphonium-based poly(ionic liquid) (PPIL) as well as its nanocomposites with halloysite (HNT) and graphene oxide (GO) were synthesized in this study. PPIL structure was engineered to be poly[(4-vinylbenzyl) trimethyl phosphonium trifluoromethane sulfonate] for high electrorheological (ER) performance. To improve ER properties of PPIL, HNT clay with strong mechanical, thermal, and insulating properties and GO with strong dielectric properties were introduced into the PPIL structure by covalent bonding. The synergistic electroactive effect of HNT and GO in the hybrid nanocomposites were investigated by comparing PPIL, HNT/PPIL and HNT/GO/PPIL structures. Structural, thermal, and morphological characterizations approved the successful synthesis of samples. Dielectric and ER flow tests of dispersions of the engineered structures in insulating silicone oil (SO) indicated that PPIL (Δε′ = 1.80 and τy = 250 Pa, EReff = 35, G′ = 33 kPa at 2.0 kV mm-1) and HNT/PPIL (Δε′ = 1.55 and τy = 260 Pa, EReff = 51, G′ = 100 kPa at 2.0 kV mm-1) have similar electroactive properties whereas the highest polarizability and ER response are achieved with HNT/GO/PPIL hybrid nanocomposite (Δε′ = 2.50 and τy = 410 Pa, EReff = 67, G′ = 790 kPa at 2.0 kV mm-1). The findings indicated that electrical stability and electric field induced polarizability of PPIL have been improved by the presence of HNT and GO, respectively. When compared with the previously reported ER studies for ammonium-based poly(ionic liquid)s, PPIL and its nanocomposites of HNT/PPIL and HNT/GO/PPIL exhibited better ER properties, as projected. The application of electric field resulted in the switchable viscoelastic character for PPIL/SO, HNT/PPIL/SO and HNT/GO/PPIL/SO dispersions. Similar to the ER flow properties, the best electroactive viscoelastic properties were obtained for the dispersion of triple HNT/GO/PPIL hybrid nanocomposite. Overall, new ER dispersions of phosphonium-based poly(ionic liquid) and its superior nanocomposites were introduced to the literature.

IMPACT OF IONIC LIQUID ADMIXTUREON ELECTRORHEOLOGICAL AND TRIBOLOGICALPROPERTIES OF A HYDROCARBON LUBRICATING OIL

The article describes, the relationship between the generated and fading electrorheological effect and tribologicalproperties of hydrocarbon lubricating oils containing ionic liquid admixture. Two quasi-homogeneousmixtures were obtained as a result of miscibility tests: 1) the GP1 silicon damping oil containning ionic liquidCJ001, i.e. 1-methyl-3-octyloxymethylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate and 2) the PAO6 base polyalphaolefinoil containing ionic liquid CJ008, i.e. trihexyltetradecylphoshonium bis-(tri-fluoromethylsulfonyl)imide. Theconducted ER tests revealed differences between the electrorheological properties of the two mixtures. Afterincreasing the electric field strength to E = 0.3 kVmm–1 the ER effect of both mixtures disappeared. Forthese mixtures tribological tests were carried out on a four ball apparatus. The lubricity parameters of thetested ionic liquids are much better than base oils and the oil mixtures with ionic liquids also showed betterlubricating properties than their base oils.

Preparation and enhanced electrorheological properties of elastomers filled with rod-shaped TiO2 particles

The morphology of dispersed particles has been proven to have a significant impact on performance of electrorheological (ER) materials, while there is a lack of relevant research on its impact on the properties of electrorheological elastomers (EREs). In this study, the TiO2 particles with spherical, short rod, and long rod shape were fabricated with sol-gel method, and the EREs were prepared with these three kinds of particles as dispersion phase. Particle characterization results show that the rod-shape TiO2 particles with larger average size exhibit a combination of anatase and brookite phase. The viscoelastic properties of three types of EREs under varying strain amplitude and shear frequency were tested. The results indicate that the long rod-shape TiO2 particles filled EREs shows higher storage modulus G′ and higher relative ER effect within the electric field from 0 to 3 kV/mm. The observations indicate the use of rod-shape TiO2 particles in the form of brookite phase may help enhance the ER properties of elastomers. The investigation contributes to the designing, preparation, and application of anisotropic ERE.

Synthesis and Evaluation of Metal Lipoate Adhesives.

The development of new bioadhesives with integrated properties remains an unmet clinical need to replace staples or sutures. Current bioadhesives do not allow electronic activation, which would allow expansion into laparoscopic and robotic surgeries. To address this deficiency, voltage-activated adhesives have been developed on both carbene- and catechol-based chemical precursors. Herein, a third platform of voltage-activated adhesive is evaluated based on lipoic acid, a non-toxic dithiolane found in aerobic metabolism and capable of ring-opening polymerization. The electro-rheological and adhesive properties of lithium, sodium, and potassium salts of lipoic acid are applied for wet tissue adhesion. At ambient conditions, potassium lipoate displays higher storage modulus than lithium or sodium salt under similar conditions. Voltage stimulation significantly improves gelation kinetics to Na- and K-lipoates, while Li-lipoate is found to not require voltage stimulation for gelation. Lap shear adhesion strength on wetted collagen substrates reveals that the synthetic metal lipoates have comparable adhesion strength to fibrin sealants without viral or ethical risks.

Synthesis of polystyrene/poly(o-anisidine) core/shell structured microparticle and its electrorheological behavior

We fabricated core/shell typed semiconducting poly(o-anisidine) (POA) coated polystyrene (PS) composite microspheres and used them as an electrorheological (ER) material. Micro-spherical PS seeds were initially fabricated through a dispersion polymerization method, and the semiconducting POA was coated onto the PS seeds through a chemical oxidation polymerization technique. Uniform coating of the POA onto the PS particles was confirmed via morphology analysis. Their chemical structures and thermal behaviors were identified using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and thermogravimetric analysis, respectively. Using a rotational rheometer, PS/POA based ER fluid (5 vol%) exhibited a yield stress of about 72 Pa under an electric field strength of 2.5 kV/mm. Over the range of electric field strength, both dynamic and elastic yield stresses grew in proportion to the power of 1.5 of the electric field strength. Dielectric properties of the ER suspension were also found to be correlated with its ER properties.

Morphology-controlled stabilised polyaniline nanoparticles and their electrorheological properties

Nanoparticles and sub-microparticles of the conducting polymers polyaniline (PANI), polyanisidine (PoANIS) and their copolymers were synthesised, deprotonated and dispersed in viscous media in order to study the influence of their synthetic conditions and of steric stabilisers (cellulose-based materials) on the physical, chemical and morphological characteristics of the polymers. Electrorheological (ER) measurements were performed and related to the polymer properties. The polymer particles had various loadings of stabilisers, depending on the polymer/stabiliser interactions and the stabiliser concentration. When stabilised with hydroxyethylcellulose (HEC), the PANI particles contained traces of HEC, while PoANIS, less stabilised by the electron-rich HEC molecules, did not. Stabilised PANI-HEC synthesised at 0°C readily formed small fibres that, when deprotonated, displayed a large electrorheological response (yield stress ca. 800 Pa at 3.2 kV.mm−1). PoANIS prepared under the same conditions yielded a polydisperse cenospheric material with no ER activity.

The preparation and smart electrorheological behavior of MOF-Ti@PANI core-shell nanoparticles

In this paper, a kind of core–shell composite nanoparticles for electrorheological (ER) fluid was successfully prepared and showed good ER effect. The material possesses the high specific surface area and low density of metal organic frameworks (MOFs), and combines with the excellent dielectric properties of polyaniline (PANI). PANI precursors were prepared by a rapid mixing method, and then MOF-Ti (an MOF containing Ti) grew in situ on PANI under the solvothermal conditions. The MOF-Ti@PANI composite nanoparticles with core–shell structure were generated. These characteristics of PANI and MOF-Ti are conducive to stronger interfacial polarization of nanoparticles, which in turn leads to a good ER effect. The nanoparticle morphology as well as its ER and dielectric properties was modulated by using different amounts of PANI addition. The addition amount of PANI had a certain effect on the particle morphology, which was proved by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). We also determined particle size at the nanoscale in this process. The measured results of the X-ray powder diffractometer (XRD) are consistent with the characteristic peaks of MIL-125 (a kind of MOF-Ti). The internal chemical structure of the material and the chemical environment of the elements were analyzed using Fourier infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). Finally, the ER and dielectric properties of the nanoparticles in ER Fluids were investigated using high-speed rotational rheometry and broadband dielectric spectroscopy. The analysis revealed that the MOF-Ti@PANI core–shell nanoparticles have good ER properties under proper coating. For the core–shell modified MOFs, it is expected to be a promising development direction in the field of ER materials.

Hydrocarbon Lubricating Oils with Admixture of Ionic Liquid as Electrorheological Medium

The article describes the results of experimental studies of electrorheological (ER) properties of lubricating oils containing an admixture of an ionic liquid as the electrically active ingredient. The novelty of these studies consists of the use of selected ionic liquids as additives to hydrocarbon oils in order to obtain quasi-homogenous mixtures with electrorheological properties. So far, such studies have not been carried out. Basic research, which consisted in determining the rheological characteristics in the presence of an external direct electric field, was carried out on a specially designed and built stand, which used a modified Brookfield DV-III Ultra viscometer. The conducted research showed that the produced mixtures generated the ER effect in the presence of a direct electric field with an intensity of up to 0.2 kV·mm-1. The tested mixtures showed different electrorheological characteristics. The research was also carried out in the so-called dielectric spectroscopy using the Hewlett Packard HP4192A impedance analyzer. The mechanism of generating and decaying the ER effect was diagnosed by in situ microscopy using the Nikon Eclipse LV100D optical microscope. It was found that the course of the τ = f(γ˙) characteristic of a mixture of hydrocarbon oil with a small admixture of an ionic liquid is mainly influenced by the so-called dielectric properties of the electrically active component, or rather their change as a function of the applied BIAS (DC) voltage. At the same time, the obtained results of the research gave grounds to state that the electrorheological characteristics also depend on many physicochemical properties of the mixture components and on the differentiation of their values e.g., from the difference in viscosity of the insulating base oil and the added ionic liquid, and also from the difference in the value of the surface tension of the base oil and the added ionic liquid. In these studies, it was found that the surface tension of the CJ001 ionic liquid at 25 °C was 26.032 mN·m-1. The surface tension of CJ008 was 28.099 mN·m-1 and that of PAO-6 oil was almost the same, i.e., 27.523 mN·m-1. The first mixture (GP1 + CJ001) showed Bigham characteristics and the second (PAO6 + CJ008) Newtonian, in the second mixture, the viscosity difference of the components was two times lower than in the first one (GP1-12.61 mPa·s, CJ001-552.42 mPa·s and PAO6-47.35 mPa·s, CJ008-327.24 mPa·s).

Electrorheological polishing performance of cerium-doped titanium dioxide particles

Electrorheological (ER) polishing as a new type of polishing technique has flexibility and controllability. However, ER polishing cannot be widely used in actual processing because the present ER polishing fluid is usually prepared by simple mixing abrasive materials into ER fluid, which is easy to occur phase separation and decreased ER performance. This paper develops a new type of ER polishing material based on cerium-doped titanium dioxide. As a classic abrasive, the cerium oxide not only has high polishing performance but also can enhance ER performance of titanium dioxide by doping effect, which endows the cerium-doped titanium dioxide with high ER polishing efficiency compared to ER polishing fluid prepared by a simple mixing method. Cerium-doped titanium dioxide particles were prepared by the sol-gel method. The size, surface morphology and elemental distribution were characterized. The ER properties were tested. The effects of different concentrations, machining gap, voltage and rotation speed on polishing performance were studied. Under the conditions of a 0.2 mm machining gap, 3 kV voltage and 200 r/min rotation speed, the surface roughness (Ra) of the copper workpiece decrease from 136 nm to 14.4 nm after 0.5 h of polishing, which is far higher than the polishing efficiency of simple mixed ER polishing fluid.

Pickering emulsion polymerized Fe3O4@graphene oxide-polystyrene composite particles and their electro/magnetorheological responses

In this study, magnetic and semiconducting Fe3O4@graphene oxide (GO)-polystyrene (PS) composite particles were fabricated using the Pickering emulsion polymerization technique. The Fe3O4@GO composite particles were initially synthesized via a co-precipitation method and then used as a Pickering emulsifier. The basic properties, such as the morphology, chemical properties, and the magnetic properties of the Fe3O4@GO-PS composite particles, were characterized using transmission electron microscopy, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, and VSM. The Fe3O4@GO-PS composite particles were then dispersed in silicone oil to obtain electrorheological (ER) and magnetorheological (MR) fluids. The ER and MR properties were tested using a rheometer with two different geometries under electric and magnetic fields. The ER dynamic yield stresses were obtained using the Bingham model fitting method, whereas the MR dynamic yield stresses were obtained using the Casson model fitting method. Furthermore, the yield stress was obtained by fitting the complex viscosity using the Carreau model. All three yield stresses were also fitted with respect to the electric or magnetic field strengths, and a slope of 1.5 was determined.

Manipulation of coacervate droplets with an electric field

Many biopolymers are highly charged, and as in the case of many polymer mixtures, they tend to phase separate as a natural consequence of chain connectivity and an associated relatively low entropy of polymer mixing. Recently, it has become appreciated that the phase-separated structures formed by such polyelectrolyte blends, called "complex coacervates," underlie numerous biological structures and processes essential to living systems, and there has been intense interest in understanding the unique physical features of this type of phase-separation process. In the present work, we are particularly concerned with the field responsiveness of stabilized coacervate droplets formed after the phase separation of polyelectrolyte blend solution and then exposed to deionized water, making the droplet interfacial layer acquire a viscoelastic character that strongly stabilizes it against coalescence. We show that we can precisely control the positions of individual droplets and arrays of them with relatively low-voltage electric fields (on the order of 10 V/cm) and that the imposition of an oscillatory field gives rise to chain formation with coarsening of these chains into long fibers. Such a phase-separation-like process is generally observed in electrorheological fluids of solid colloidal particles subjected to much larger field strengths. The key to these coacervates' electrorheological properties is the altered interfacial viscoelastic properties when the droplets are introduced into deionized water and the associated high polarizability of the droplets, similar to the properties of many living cells. Since many different molecular payloads can be incorporated into these stable droplets, we anticipate many applications.

Applications of polyaniline-impregnated silica gel-based nanocomposites in wastewater treatment as an efficient adsorbent of some important organic dyes

AbstractDue to a recent lack of clean water as a result of an increasing water demand, new wastewater solutions are required. Many researchers have looked into the removal of organic dyes from wastewater, with adsorption being an easy and effective method for removing organic and inorganic contaminants from contaminated water. Conjugated modified polymers, primarily polyaniline (Pani), have been widely used in the wastewater treatment because of their unique properties, such as easy synthesis, tunable morphology, porous structure, good electrorheological property, biodegradability, and nontoxic nature. Modified surface polymers are more reactive for the removal of dyes from wastewater and have outstanding dye removal capabilities in the wastewater treatment. This review article elaborates on wastewater treatment by utilizing silica gel-impregnated polyaniline nanocomposites as adsorbents. The use of polyaniline-modified silica gel in dye migration behavior to the most suited system for the resolution of co-existing dyes is referred to as the separation of organic dyes from their mixtures. Adsorption of important organic dyes to optimize conditions for efficient organic dye removal and comparison with another commercially available adsorbent. Chemical modification with the introduction of acidic or basic surface functionality could increase cationic and anionic chemical adsorption, as well as charged organic species such as dyes. The carrier is thus obtained with a chelating reagent on the surface of a silica gel after impregnation with polyaniline.
