Desain Bahan Belajar Elektronik Berbasis Higher Order Thinking Skill (HOTs) pada Mata Kuliah Kapita Selekta Hasil Penelitian

21st-century education requires a transformation in learning to provide students who can meet challenges by applying higher order thinking skills (HOTs). This study aims to produce an electronic learning material design based on higher order thinking skills (HOTs) appropriate to the Kapita Selekta Research Results (KSHP) course. This research uses the development research method by adopting the Rowntree model. Data collection is carried out by studying documentation and distributing questionnaires to students who will take the KSHP course in odd semester 2020. This research resulted in a design of electronic learning materials based on HOTs, which then required the next stage of development, implementation, and evaluation of these learning materials to be ready to use in order to facilitate student learning in the KSHP course.

Review of standards for creating training materials in learning management systems

Creating educational content requires certain rules for creating content, as well as a number of specific stages of its creation, mechanisms and tools that are directly involved in this process. This paper provides an overview of the standards of creation, maintenance of electronic learning materials using learning management systems, as well as analysis and evaluation of their use of ontological systems. Four generations of standards for the creation and maintenance of e-learning materials and a description of each of them: the name of the standards for creating and maintaining the life cycle of e-learning course, as the basic principle of grouping e-learning materials. For some standards, the abbreviation of the standard name and a description of the features of the version are provided. Separately for each such standard the architecture and features of construction of a training course as the carrier of the educational information, its structural features, the applied software interface, principles of construction of electronic educational content with use of the above-stated standards are described. The question of further prospects for their development remains unanswered. Issues related to the process of designing the components of the training course, establishing links and relationships between them are considered separately. In particular, this review is an attempt to consider the standards of the course as allowing to create materials using ontological systems with hierarchical structuring of teaching materials and its subsequent support, as well as to assess the availability of tools to create ontologies as components for the presentation knowledge. In case of a negative answer, a constructive solution to this problem should be offered.

Computer Technologies in the Realization of Bilingual Training in the National School (On the Example of Schools of the Republic of Bashkortostan of the Russian Federation)

In modern conditions of development of national schools in multilingual regions of the Russian Federation, in particular in the Republic of Bashkortostan, the problem of designing a bilingual (Russian-national or national-Russian) methodology is important, but at the same time not sufficiently developed for the federal component disciplines. The article reveals an attempt to solve to a certain extent this problem through the use of electronic educational materials in teaching mathematics. Depending on the target component, two types of bilingual methods are distinguished: one of them – with the predominance of the national-Russian bilingualism, the other - with the predominance of the Russian-national. Electronic textbooks provide an opportunity to combine the possibilities of both techniques. The article describes the electronic learning materials developed by the author that allow realizing bilingual education in the Russian national (non-Russian) school. Efficiency was identified on the basis of a pedagogical experiment, the criterion of effectiveness – the quality of students’ cognitive activity; the reliability of the changes obtained was substantiated by statistical methods using Student’s t-test (by William Gosset’s).

Analysis of disaster response attitudes of Senior High School students as the preliminary research phase in the development of Physics e-module with coastal abrasion theme

E-Module is an ICT-based electronic learning material that is useful as the learning media. This study is aim to describe the response attitude of the students to coastal abrasion as the preliminary research stage in developing physics e-module with coastal abrasion theme. This research uses a descriptive method. The subjects of the study were the students of SMAN 1 Ulakan Tapakis with the sample chosen by using simple random sampling technique. The data of this research are primary data obtained through a questionnaire with data collection technique using Likert scale 1-4. Data analysis techniques are in the form of descriptive statistics. The results of data analysis of response attitude obtained an average percentage of 73.03% in the less categories. Students are considered not yet fully have a coastal abrasion response attitude. Given the need for a coastal abrasion response attitude, efforts can be made is to implement the results of the analysis into physics e-module with the theme of coastal abrasion.

МОДЕРНІЗАЦІЯ ПІДГОТОВКИ МАЙБУТНІХ ЛІКАРІВ В УНІВЕРСИТЕТАХ США

This paper presents the experience of American universities concerning modern changes in higher medical education; highlights the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) for learning as well as teaching purposes at medical schools. It was revealed that the most significant share of the research in the scope of ICTs usage in medical education is associated with the activity of Harvard, Washington, New York and Michigan schools of medicine. The universities of Ohayo, Illinois, Massachusetts and Wisconsin have also made important contributions into the history of computerization. All US medical schools have the leading positions in ICTs implementation with the core patient-centered approach.System of the US medical education is characterized by the long-term tradition of innovative development and implementation. The period of medical education is one of the longest in the world. It is directed on training competent and competitive health care specialists. The US government encourages modernization in medical schools. Thus, it aids creation of different institutions and associations aimed at innovative changes in higher medical education, facilitation of teaching and learning adaptation.The ICTs implemented for medical training include all available sources of electronic learning, mobile learning and telemedicine, virtual patients (mannequins, computerized models of medical encounters), social media. In order to facilitate innovations American medical schools take measures including provision of the access to electronic learning materials and computerized learning tools; integration of real electronic learning tools into the process of study; encouraging university teachers to develop and evaluate virtual reality tools; designing of national protocols for proper implementation and evaluation of virtual reality tools; creation of the councils reviewing of this problem; usage of the computerized programs of medical encounters to optimize the professional clinical and communicative training of the future physicians.The USA has shown the considerable progress in this direction compared to other countries. The scientists have been continuously investigating the problem of ICT implementation and its prognostic aspects. New technologies are known to improve the learning process on condition that pedagogic technologies and teaching methods are changed.

EVALUATING THE QUALITY OF E-LEARNING MATERIAL

An increasing number of educational institutions in the study process uses one of the e-learning systems. Consequently, more and more students are offered learning materials in electronic format. E-materials in distance learning and e-learning is one of the most important elements, therefore much attention and enough time should be paid for their development. There are a number of studies on e-learning quality, where criteria of quality are discussed in the context of chosen e-learning environment and the process of implementation. This article examines only the quality of e-material. The aim was to find a way to reduce the effort and time of electronic learning material quality evaluation. The study used content analysis by summarizing the most important factors influencing the quality for teaching materials. Based on the quality criteria mentioned in the literature and personal experience, a criterion, which affects quality of e-learning material, were summarized and grouped. The criteria were grouped into four groups resulting from didactic, media, usability and formal quality. Quality evaluation is performed by using one of the methods used in software engineering - checklist. Based on the identified quality criteria a checklist was established. In order to facilitate the evaluation process a web-based tool is offered. The tool includes a defined checklist with assessment rating scale and three levels of impact. Evaluation of material quality is shown in the terms of percentage. After testing the tool, it could be used for course developers, program managers or other persons involved in evaluation process of e-learning resources.

Use of Tablet Computers to Improve Access to Education in a Remote Location

A research project was carried out in using mobile learning to increase access to education. This project is contributing to the achievement of Goal 4 of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which is to “Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all”. The mobile learning project involved the use of mobile technology to deliver learning materials to students to provide flexibility of access. Students used tablet computers to access electronic learning materials from the Aptus local server without having to connect to the Internet. The Aptus system is portable and was designed by the Commonwealth of Learning to allow learners to connect to digital learning platforms and access course materials without the need for Internet access. The project was implemented in a school in Pakistan. A total of 74 Grade 8, 9, and 10 students were involved in this project. The research revealed a positive impact on students and on learning as a result of their participation in the mobile learning project: students were better able to use the mobile technology for learning. Both students and parents also indicated that the project increased the students’ knowledge on the use of tablets for learning. Parents indicated that the mobile learning project increased their childrens’ interest in studying. Teachers also acknowledged that the students were taking more interest in classroom learning and concentrated on their tablets during study. Students were tested before and after they were supplied with content on their tablets. The post-test scores were significantly higher than the pre-test scores, indicating the use of the tablets for learning improved students’ performance.

У статті окреслено питання, щодо вибору та застосування сучасних технологій інтернет-комунікацій, для оптимізації самостійної роботи студентів та інтенсифікації навчального процесу. Розробка електронних навчальних матеріалів з подальшим використанням їх у вебінарах сприятиме покращенню засвоєння знань та підвищенню мотивації до навчання у студентів.

ХМАРО ОРІЄНТОВАНІ ТЕХНОЛОГІЇ ЯК ЧИННИК РЕАЛІЗАЦІЇ ДОСЛІДНИЦЬКОГО НАВЧАННЯ

The purpose of the study is to develop a mechanism for the organization of research work of students toward mastery of ICT literacy. In the article it has been formed the model of research work organization for students in the learning process of informatic disciplines; produced the algorithm of learning cloud-oriented technology use in the organization of students’ research work; described recommendations for the structure and the content of electronic learning materials in the study of learning cloud-oriented technologies (as a part of the training course in LMS Moodle); formed the recommendations on the organization of the scientific group work on the basis of the implementation of the research-based training and development of the ICT competencies.

Snapshots of student-teachers' experiences of DVDs in a learner support programme in a developing ODL context

The School of Continuing Teacher Education (SCTE) in South Africa delivers an Advanced Certificate in Education (ACE) Learner Support Programme to Open Distance Learning (ODL) students in Namibia, a developing sub-Saharan African country. This paper examines the experiences of student-teachers using DVDs included in the tutorial package. Fifteen participants from rural and remote areas of Namibia took part in a semi-structured focus group and individual interviews. A first phase analysis identified a set of codes and categories that guided the researchers to two themes to using DVDs: frustration and attitude. Student-teachers' frustration and attitude towards DVDs are linked to sufficient appropriate information, also available as a paper-based tutorial package. Although electronic learning material can assist in achieving curriculum goals and enrich students' learning experiences, students' expectations are paramount in the design and development of instructional DVDs.

Elements of Electronic Teaching Materials with Respect to Student's Cognitive Learning Styles

Learning styles are important determinants of the use the electronic learning materials in education. These materials consist of many structural elements, of which some respect individual learning styles more and some less. In the realized research, the question has been solved of whether the particular components of electronic teaching materials are the same for different groups of students with respect to their individuality, which can be manifested by preferred learning styles. The course and some of the partial results of the realized research, focused on the use of learning styles in education realized in the form of e-learning, are presented in this study.

A Collective Model of Advanced Teacher Training: An International Experience

The conventional course-based teacher training method doesn’t meet the requirements of time, and neither does the reproductive teaching style. The paper offers a new alternative to that system, which is project-based and result-oriented advanced training designed to stimulate creative thinking in teachers and to enhance the role of self-analysis and self-assessment. The main idea of this teacher training method lies in collaboration of teachers within a school to create new learning practices based on electronic learning materials and program tools. The paper describes terms and results of the international education project “ICT Learning Environment. Create and Use Together”, which was realized in 2010–2012 and involved Russian and Finnish teachers and experts. Five school teams from Russia (represented by Saint Petersburg) and five from Finland had a mission of learning new technologies, developing new electronic learning materials and implementing them in their own teaching practices. The school teams collaborated for two years during live and online seminars, exchanged emails and talked on Skype, developing the selected projects together. The author investigates into the two factors of assessing team project efficiency: a) participants’ self-assessment of progress in their professional development and b) quality of created learning materials as finished products to be copied and distributed across the educational system. The paper provides benefits of the cluster-based model of project cooperation among teachers, which consists in grouping bunches of schools into clusters by geography or common teaching approaches.

An Instructional and Collaborative Learning System with Content Recommendation

With the rapid development of Internet, e-learning has become a new teaching and learning mode. However, lots of e-learning systems deployed on Internet are just electronic learning materials with very limited interactivity and diagnostic capability. This paper presents an integrated e-learning environment named iCLSR. Firstly, iCLSR provides an online environment for instruction and collaborative learning, which gets rid of the constraints of time and space. Second, online teaching and learning evaluation data from instructors and learners can be collected by iCLSR and can be analyzed with an improved PSK-means clustering algorithm. Third, the learning object lists can be recommended for learners based on online evaluation results and their learning history. The application of iCLSR demonstrates that it can recommend appropriate learning materials for learners, inspire communication between learners and instructors, save time for users and therefore improve the instructional effects and learning performance.

Using ICT at an Open Distance Learning (ODL) institution in South Africa: The learning experiences of students with visual impairments

For students with visual impairments, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has become an important means through which they can learn and access learning materials at various levels of education. However, their learning experiences in using such form of technologies have been rarely documented, thus suggests society's lack of understanding and/or interest about the effectiveness of such technologies in responding to the learning needs of people with visual disability. Following narrative inquiry design, the research question that guided this study is: What are your learning experiences of using Information and Communication Technology at an Open Distance Learning institution in South Africa? The narratives were obtained in two ways, namely a written form and then followed up verbally using one-on-one interviews with each participant and were analyzed qualitatively. The findings are presented in the following themes: (a) challenges with mathematical, scientific and accounting signs; (b) difficulty in accessing graphic learning materials; (c) incompatibility of software; (d) lack of timely access to electronic learning materials; (e) unfulfilled promises; and (f) inflexible pedagogical practices. These challenges occur alongside perceptions, which narrowly view students with visual impairment as incapable of following particular subject streams [career], conceptions that make such students blame themselves for having impairments. The findings of this study will contribute towards the improvement of learning experiences of students with visual impairment in institutions of higher learning and fostering positive conceptions about visual impairment.

Mobile Learning : Educating for Life and for All

As the world population increases so does the need to educate more people. However, because of the current education infrastructure and delivery model, it is impossible to educate everyone to achieve at least a basic education level to function in society. Educators and government must change the current system to deliver education in flexible formats so that lifelong learning can be expanded and basic education for all can be achieved. With the increasing availability of open education resources and electronic learning materials, learners can access the learning materials using technology such as mobile devices and tablets. Many citizens around the world have mobile devices and tablets rather than desktop and laptops computers. Hence, educators must deliver learning materials for access by mobile devices. This will help to achieve the “education for all” and “education is a human right” goals set by the different international agencies.

Electronic learning and open educational resources in the health sciences in Ghana

To determine whether a group of Ghanaian students are able to easily use electronic learning material and whether they perceive this method of learning as acceptable. The University of Ghana Medical School (UGMS) and the School of Medical Sciences (SMS), Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) PARTICIPANTS: One hundred and fifty third year medical students at SMS and nineteen fifth year medical students at UGMS METHODS: Two e-learning materials were developed, one on the polymerase chain reaction and the other on total abdominal hysterectomy and these were distributed to selected medical students. Two weeks after the distribution of the programmes, a one-page, self-administered questionnaire was distributed to the target groups of students at the two institutions. Ninety three percent (139) of respondents at KNUST and 95% (18) at UG report having access to a computer for learning purposes. All of the UG students viewed the TAH programme; 82% (130) of the KNUST students viewed the PCR animations. All students who viewed the programmes at both institutions indicated that the e-learning pro-grammes were "more effective" in comparison to other methods of learning. Computer ownership or availability at both medical schools is sufficient to permit the distribution and viewing of e-learning materials by students and the medical students considered both programmes to be very helpful.

Integration of heuristics elements in the web-based environment: Experimental evaluation and usage analysis

The article deals with possibilities of using heuristics, interactivity and feedback in electronic learning materials. The aim of the paper is integration of heuristics elements in the web-based learning environment and the evaluation of heuristics approach into education. The author presents experimental evaluation of efficiency of heuristics approach into learning and a detailed analysis of the user log-on data, on which we can better understand the rate of using of heuristics elements together with other course activities in an electronic learning environment.

Virtual medical campus: the increasing importance of E-learning in medical education

In 2002, along with the integration of a new, integrated curriculum in human medicine, the Virtual Medical Campus Graz was installed. It accompanies the whole curriculum with electronic materials tailored to the needs of the students and the forthcoming examinations. To date, more than 15,000 learning objects have been developed, and students download up to 200,000 learning objects per month. Particular emphasis is placed on Web-Based Training materials, but video and simulations are also included. In part, transfer of basic knowledge is mediated by electronic learning materials, replacing several hours of classroom attendance. Face-to-face education, in turn, is focusing increasingly on small-group clinical teaching.
