Electronic Commerce Security and Risk Management: An Important Part of College Curriculum

With the rapid expansion of e-commerce, its security and risk management problems become increasingly prominent. In the current business environment, the ability to understand and apply e-commerce security and risk management has become an important criterion to measure a good person. Therefore, the importance of e-commerce security and risk management courses in college education is self-evident. This course can not only help students master the basic knowledge of e-commerce, but also enable them to understand how to deal with various risks in practical work and ensure the safe operation of e-commerce. At the same time, through the study of e-commerce security and risk management, students can better understand the operation mode and law of e-commerce, and lay a solid foundation for their future career. In general, e-commerce security and risk management occupy an important position in the curriculum of colleges and universities, and play a crucial role in cultivating e-commerce professionals with practical operation ability and innovative thinking.

A Novel and Secure Fake-Modulus Based Rabin-Ӡ Cryptosystem

Electronic commerce (E-commerce) transactions require secure communication to protect sensitive information such as credit card numbers, personal identification, and financial data from unauthorized access and fraud. Encryption using public key cryptography is essential to ensure secure electronic commerce transactions. RSA and Rabin cryptosystem algorithms are widely used public key cryptography techniques, and their security is based on the assumption that it is computationally infeasible to factorize the product of two large prime numbers into its constituent primes. However, existing variants of RSA and Rabin cryptosystems suffer from issues like high computational complexity, low speed, and vulnerability to factorization attacks. To overcome the issue, this article proposes a new method that introduces the concept of fake-modulus during encryption. The proposed method aims to increase the security of the Rabin cryptosystem by introducing a fake-modulus during encryption, which is used to confuse attackers who attempt to factorize the public key. The fake-modulus is added to the original modulus during encryption, and the attacker is unable to distinguish between the two. As a result, the attacker is unable to factorize the public key and cannot access the sensitive information transmitted during electronic commerce transactions. The proposed method’s performance is evaluated using qualitative and quantitative measures. Qualitative measures such as visual analysis and histogram analysis are used to evaluate the proposed system’s quality. To quantify the performance of the proposed method, the entropy of a number of occurrences for the pixels of cipher text and differential analysis of plaintext and cipher text is used. When the proposed method’s complexity is compared to a recent variant of the Rabin cryptosystem, it can be seen that it is more complex to break the proposed method—represented as O(ɲ× τ) which is higher than Rabin-P (O(ɲ)) algorithms.

Secure Electronic Commerce Transactions Using Pythagorean Triple-based Cryptography and Audio Steganography

The rapidly increasing utilization of Information Technology (IT) in electronic commerce and other aspects of human existence has led to a rise in worries about the privacy and safe-ty/security of those involved. Due to the alarmingly high frequency with which data or user privacy breaches occur today, conducting online transactions can represent a major threat to buyers (and even business owners') privacy. Existing solutions to these security issues are still vulnerable to classic phishing scams. As a result, the construction of a robust and effi-cient audio steganography system for secure electronic commerce transactions is presented in this work. The developed system first encrypts sensitive financial data using the Pythagorean Triple-based Cryptographic (PTC) algorithm, then compresses the resulting cipher-text using the Lempel Ziv Welch (LZW) and Huffman's Compression Algorithms, and finally embeds the compressed file (using one-dimensional Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT)) in a suitable audio-file cover to produce an output (stego file) that is indistinguishable from the cover file. This output can then be exchanged between communicating entities across open networks. The new system has a little or no alteration in its outputs, as evidenced by the Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR), in the experimental results gotten.

Impact of COVID-19 on the drivers of cash-based online transactions and consumer behaviour: evidence from a Muslim market

PurposePakistan is predominantly a cash-based economy, with consumers showing several traits ranging from low confidence on the electronic commerce security, poor access to banking, absence of widespread awareness of e-payments and other religious and psychological barriers to adopting alternatives to cash. This study aims to examine e-payment modes in Pakistan with respect to their impact on supplier and consumer behaviour before and during the pandemic times.Design/methodology/approachThe research follows a qualitative approach. Focus groups and interviews are conducted to carry out an in-depth analysis of consumer and supplier behaviour.FindingsThe findings show that customers are not satisfied with the current e-commerce system in Pakistan, whereas though producers prefer prepayments, they are forced to rely on cash on delivery. However, due to the recent COVID-19 outbreak, consumers are going cashless to avoid physical cash and observe safety protocols. To convert this temporary and enforced patronage of online transactions into a long-term and sustainable one, massive marketing and a combined effort from the government, private bodies and financial institutions is required.Research limitations/implicationsThe study was conducted using online interviews which has the drawback of connection issues, delays and lags in the connectivity, and hence may lead to miss important gestures for data analysis.Originality/valueThis research can be of benefit to online consumers and the supplier side of the online retail industry, by providing them with insight into the various factors that affect consumer behaviour towards e-commerce payment options. An understanding of the behavioural motivators of consumers will allow e-retailers in developing more marketing strategies that are effective, to improve the satisfaction level of their customers and contribute to the development of Pakistan’s e-commerce sector into a globally competitive one.

Aspects of economic security of electronic commerce

The paper is devoted to the study of the problem of economic security of e-commerce in Ukraine. The tools of economic security implementation that influence the formation of the economic strategy of Ukrainian enterprises, the main activity of which is e-commerce, are considered and analyzed. Measures for effective implementation of tools for determining the degree of security of e-commerce information system are proposed. Identifying new methods of economic security research will help increase economic stability and reduce the vulnerability of Ukrainian enterprises. The purpose of the paper is to determine the process of calculating the security of the e-commerce information system, and to determine the vulnerability of the system. The purpose of the security system as a whole is to identify and prevent dangers and threats, to ensure the security of e-commerce enterprises and to achieve business goals. Determining the degree of security of the e-commerce information system is conducted in two directions: analysis of existing types of technical means of storing and protecting information; and expert assessment of losses from threats. To effectively achieve the economic security of e-commerce, it is necessary to use a variety of techniques and the latest technologies to identify and prevent various sources of threats. This will make it possible to build a system of protection against the violation of the integrity of the economic system. Provide tools to reduce risks and external pressures on the business environment. It will allow to build an effective control system and attract additional control methods. The dynamics of e-commerce development and the degree of its integration into the economy encourage additional research in the direction of reducing risks and achieving economic security.

Formal Method for Security Analysis of Electronic Payment Protocols

Electronic payment protocols play a vital role in electronic commerce security, which is essential for secure operation of electronic commerce activities. Formal method is an effective way to verify the security of protocols. But current formal method lacks the description and analysis of timeliness in electronic payment protocols. In order to improve analysis ability, a novel approach to analyze security properties such as accountability, fairness and timeliness in electronic payment protocols is proposed in this paper. This approach extends an existing logical method by adding a concise time expression and analysis method. It enables to describe the event time, and extends the time characteristics of logical inference rules. We analyzed the Netbill protocol with the new approach and found that the fairness of the protocol is not satisfied, due to timeliness problem. The result illustrates the new approach is able to analyze the key properties of electronic payment protocols. Furthermore, the new approach can be introduced to analyze other time properties of cryptographic protocols.

They construct electronic commerce security system from these aspects: the creation of database, the security of information storage, the mining of information based on big data environment thoroughly. Big data, Internet of things (IoT), and cloud computing have been recognized a family of technologies for a connected world. Besides hailed hope for the future, there are also challenges to security due to complexity and unpredictability of the Internet, clouds, and data. One of the challenges is information and data exchange, for example, identifying untrustworthy cloud users and analyzing abnormal user behavior during information exchange. This paper addresses exchange mechanism, which is a useful theoretic basis to make secure electronic commerce and electronic business transactions possible. To ensure and verify the property of fairness, a crucial property of exchange mechanism, this paper proposes a specific model for behavior analysis based on the extensive game with imperfect information. Rationality and fairness properties are built in the corresponding game and the game tree. To verify the properties, a tree analysis method is proposed, and a linear time algorithm is given. As a case study, some flaws of the ASW protocol are found.

New times, new strategies: proposal for an additional dimension to the 4 P'S for E-commerce dot-com

Proper marketing management is fundamental to any business endeavor, including dot-coms. However, to date, as identified in a review of the International Journal of Electronic Commerce (IJEC) production and the last 10 years of EnANPAD (EnANPAD is the annual Brazilian Academy of Management conference). There are no works on the applicability of the 4P's to e-commerce, a gap in the literature that this study proposes to fill. It uses a qualitative approach methodology, investigating several empirical studies about digital commerce, and comparing it with the mainstream strategic marketing literature. Inferences were developed, pushing further the theory boundaries of this field. Both the classical works as those from Borden (1964) and Mccarthy (1960) and many other contemporaries are evaluated. The present research utilizes these works as a source of information and data. Using a process of comparison with the marketing mix model, it searches for a possible lack of fit between the related empirical environments and such a model. The results identify several key variables in each of the P's related to security in electronic commerce. This dimension seems to be the key in shaping the perception of customer value, thus supporting its inclusion as a fifth dimension along with the 4P's.
