Two novel iridoids from Scrophularia buergeriana

Two new iridoid-related compounds with a new carbon skeleton, buergerinin F( 1) and G( 2) were isolated from the roots of Scrophularia buergeriana Miq ., and their structures were determined by spectroscopic means as well as by X-ray crystallographic analysis. The 1H, 13C NMR and EI-MS data of 1 and 2 are given.

Two New Polyacetylenes fromArtemisia eriopoda

The aerial parts of Artemisia eriopoda (Compositae) afforded two new C (17)-polyacetylenes. Based on their IR, UV, EIMS, (1)H- and (13)C-NMR (DEPT) spectral data, the structures were elucidated to be (1,8 E,13 Z,16)-heptadecatetraene-4,6-diyne-3,11,12-triol and (1,8 E,12 E,14 Z)-heptadecatetraene-4,6-diyne-3,11-diol.

Ferreirinol, a New 3-Hydroxyisoflavanone from Swartzia polyphylla

Reinvestigation of an EtOH extract of Swartzia polyphylla (Leguminosae) led to the isolation of a new 3-hydroxyisoflavanone, ferreirinol (3). The structure was elucidated from 1 H NMR, 13 C NMR, and EIMS data.

Determination of hydride transfer stereospecificity of NADH-dependent alcohol-aldehyde/ketone oxidoreductase from Sulfolobus solfataricus

This paper describes the determination of stereospecifity of hydride transfer reaction of an alcohol dehydrogenase isolated from the archaebacterium Sulfolobus solfataricus. The 1H-NMR and EI-MS data indicate that the enzyme transfers the pro-R hydrogen from coenzyme to substrate and is therefore an A-Specific dehydrogenase.
