Exploration and Reflection on Promoting Graduate Enrollment under the New Situation

Graduate enrollment is crucial for improving the quality of graduate education and building a high-quality education system. The current enrollment situation in some universities is severe, with problems such as insufficient attention to enrollment promotion and a single mode. To solve these problems, this article proposes measures such as leveraging the joint efforts of schools, formulating enrollment promotion plans at different levels, strengthening the construction of enrollment teams at both the school and college levels, enriching enrollment promotion forms, strengthening the construction of high-quality student sources, and building a quality evaluation system for student sources to attract more students to apply and continuously improve the quality of student sources.

Eksistensi Sekolah Pesisi Juang Dalam Memenuhi Hak Pendidikan Bagi Anak-Anak Pesisir Di Lingkungan Bintaro Kecamatan Ampenan Kota Mataram

This research explores the role of Sekolah Pesisi Juang in fulfilling the educational rights of coastal children in Bintaro, Ampenan, Mataram. The research focuses on the school's contribution to enhancing learning motivation, literacy, and practical skills of the children, who face various social and economic challenges. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through interviews, observations, and document analysis. The findings show that the school has implemented various educational programs, including Early Childhood Education (PAUD), Pojok Baca, Pojok Kreasi, and additional classes that have successfully helped meet the educational needs of these children. The study also highlights supporting and inhibiting factors in the school's efforts and presents strategies for overcoming obstacles.

A qualitative case study on the development of the scholarship of teaching and learning: Centred on primary and secondary school teachers

This study aims to explore the perceptions of the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) of primary and secondary school teachers in C City, China, as well as the challenges they face in developing these abilities. Through narrative inquiry involving five current teachers, the research collected their personal experiences in the development of teaching and academic abilities, with data gathered through semi-structured interviews. The findings reveal that teachers are primarily driven by external forces, professional identity, personal growth, and the need to improve teaching quality in their efforts to enhance teaching and academic abilities. However, they also encounter challenges such as teaching pressures, time management difficulties, insufficient school support, and declining energy. To overcome these obstacles, teachers have adopted strategies such as time management, task allocation, and cognitive enhancement. The study concludes by recommending that through the combined efforts of teachers, schools, and society, a strong professional belief system should be established, and a supportive environment should be created to collaboratively promote the development of teaching and academic abilities among primary and secondary school teachers, thereby fostering their professional growth.

The association between teacher distress and student mental health outcomes: a cross-sectional study using data from the school mental health survey

BackgroundFew studies have examined the inter-relationships between teacher and student mental health. We aimed to examine associations between teacher distress and student mental health difficulties and if student perceptions of school safety moderate these associations.MethodData from 23,568 students in grades 6–12 and 1,478 teachers from 268 schools participating in the School Mental Health Surveys in Ontario, Canada, were used. Three-level (student, classroom, school) multivariable linear regression models were fit to examine associations between teacher distress and student internalizing and externalizing symptoms by elementary (grades 6–8) and secondary (grades 9–12) school. Statistical interactions were used to evaluate effect modification.ResultsSmall but statistically significant, positive associations were found between teacher distress and internalizing (b = 0.02; 95% CI [0.01, 0.04], p < 0.05) and externalizing symptoms (b = 0.03; 95% CI [0.01, 0.05], p < 0.001) among elementary students only. Student perceptions of school safety moderated the association between teacher distress and externalizing symptoms among elementary students, whereby the positive association was magnified among students reporting lower school safety.ConclusionsFindings from this study highlight the importance of concurrently addressing the mental health needs of educators and students. School safety represents a modifiable target for prevention and intervention efforts in schools that could serve to promote student mental health and mitigate potential risk factors in schools.

Skipping Breakfast and Academic Grades, Persistent Feelings of Sadness or Hopelessness, and School Connectedness Among High School Students - Youth Risk Behavior Survey, United States, 2023.

Breakfast consumption is positively associated with academic achievement and diet quality among students, whereas skipping breakfast has been linked with poor mental health. Data from CDC's 2023 nationally representative Youth Risk Behavior Survey were used to describe how often high school students ate breakfast in the past 7 days and the associations between skipping breakfast every day (ate breakfast on 0 of the past 7 days), experiencing persistent feelings of sadness or hopelessness, school connectedness, and self-reported grades. Prevalence estimates and corresponding 95% CIs were calculated, and t-tests were used to identify differences within demographic groups (e.g., sex, race and ethnicity, and sexual identity). Logistic regression analyses were conducted to calculate prevalence ratios describing breakfast skipping, adjusting for demographics, and stratified by sex and race and ethnicity. Most students missed breakfast ≥1 time in the past 7 days (72.6%), and 17.9% of students skipped breakfast every day, with differences by sex, sexual identity, and race and ethnicity. Overall, and among both males and females, students who experienced persistent feelings of sadness or hopelessness were more likely to skip breakfast every day. The association between feelings of sadness and hopelessness and skipping breakfast was generally consistent across racial and ethnic groups. In contrast, greater levels of school connectedness and earning mostly As or Bs were inversely associated with skipping breakfast. Students who had higher school connectedness were approximately 30% less likely to skip breakfast on all 7 days. Skipping breakfast and poor mental health co-occur among many adolescents and might impede students' readiness to learn. School efforts to make breakfast accessible and appealing to high school students might yield multiple benefits and help reinforce school administrators' efforts to recover student learning losses that occurred during the COVID-19 pandemic. Parents, school decision-makers, and organizations that partner with schools and families can use these findings to guide efforts to promote breakfast consumption.

The Dynamics of Facilities, Learning Environment, and Student Activities at SDN 106833 Wonosari Village, Tanjung Morawa District

Education is important in equipping individuals with knowledge and skills that help them adjust to social life. School quality has a strong impact on student output. Schools with good and complete building conditions can improve schools to meet health and safety standards, which can increase student quality. Substandard physical environment is strongly associated with other behavioral problems with students such as lower student attendance leading to lower student scores. the purpose of this study was written to know the facilities and infrastructure, the school's efforts in implementing learning at SD Negeri 106833 Wonosari. The method used in is called qualitative. This paper focuses on learning tools that can help students maintain their education. This study investigated the relationship between school physical environment, learning tools, and student learning outcomes. The findings revealed the physical condition of schools and the availability of learning tools have a significant impact on student learning outcomes.

Implementasi Pengembangan Keberagamaan Peserta Didik Sekolah Menengah Atas (SMA)

Religiosity in the context of Islamic religious education can be divided into vertical and horizontal dimensions. A vertical religious atmosphere can be realized through worship activities. On the other hand, a horizontal religious atmosphere links schools more as social institutions, which can be classified based on the structure of relationships between people. The school's efforts to improve students' religious attitudes are carried out through the implementation of Islamic activities. This research uses a literature review method, which involves researching literature and theories that are relevant to the problem being studied. The instrument used is descriptive analysis. Based on the results of the literature review analysis, the author will review it in detail in this article, discussing the implementation of student religious development in Senior High Schools (SMA). The implementation of religious diversity in high school students involves systematic efforts such as guidance, providing information, supervision and control. The aim is to improve the quality of students, especially in the religious aspect, in order to form a positive mental attitude and develop good potential. This aims to ensure that students' diversity can develop positively.

POLA PENDIDIKAN BUDI PEKERTI DALAM MENINGKATKAN MOTIVASI BELAJAR SISWA-SISWI KATOLIK

Character of education is an effort to educate students so that the students have noble attitudes and behavior. In fact, this education still has not achieved the objectives of the establishment of the program. From the results of initial observations at Junior High School I Wonogiri and Kanisius Wonogiri Middle school, it was found that there were several degradations of moral values which had an impact on reducing student motivation. Therefore, this research focused on digging deeper into how both public and private schools apply patterns of character education as a school effort to help increasing student motivation. The research method used in this research was to use a qualitative research method using a comparative descriptive approach. The results of study showed that in the implementation of character education, Junior High School I Wonogiri applied moral values as a whole while the three main values emphasized by Kanisius Wonogiri Middle School were more religious values, honesty values, and social care values; in terms of school strategies and methods, the teacher's approach and the evaluation used both have similarities and differences. The results of the study show that the two schools have their own characteristics which are tailored to the vision and mission of each school.

Exploring Differences in Spanish- and English-Speaking Parents’ Experiences With Individualized Education Program Meetings

This study aimed to explore the experiences of parents ( N = 177; Spanish-speaking and English-speaking parents) of children with disabilities navigating the special education process. This descriptive study collected quantitative and qualitative data through an electronic survey. Results describe Spanish- and English-speaking parent’s experience during Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings, challenges in attending IEP meetings, special education knowledge, participation during IEP meetings, feelings of discrimination, parental stress, and dissatisfaction with special education services. Spanish-speaking parents reported less special education rights knowledge and feeling more discrimination at IEP meetings in comparison to English speakers and reported language barriers and inadequate interpretation services as challenges to attending an IEP meeting. Findings highlight the need for equitable parent-school partnerships to support and empower all families. Awareness of the unique experiences of Spanish-speaking families may further equitable school efforts to serve this population and other linguistically diverse parents.

STUDI KASUS PEMANFAATAN POJOK LITERASI PRAKTIK DEAR DI SMPN 5 KEPANJEN (KETERAMPILAN MEMBACA KRITIS SISWA)

This study aims to examine school efforts in instilling a culture of literacy and practice of DEAR (Drop Everything And Read) at SMPN 5 Kepanjen with critical reading skills, the benefits obtained from the literacy corner in class, the obstacles in practicing DEAR (Drop Everything And Read) and the utilization of the corner literacy that has not had an impact on students in SMP Negeri 5 Kepanjen classes and solutions to related obstacles in optimizing the use of class literacy corners at SMP Negeri 5 Kepanjen. This qualitative research uses a phenomenological type. The research informants involved all school members, namely students, teachers and the principal of SMPN 5 Kepanjen. The results of the study show that the school is trying to instill a culture of DEAR (Drop Everything And Read), which must be done every day by students at SMP Negeri 5 Kepanjen. By habituating students to visit literacy corners, creating literacy activity programs, applying critical reading skill and trying to bring in publishers to offer a wide selection of reading books to students to be used in literacy corners as literacy materials. The reading corner functions to create a new classroom atmosphere, can also be used as a place for casual reading, fosters student creativity and can be used as a place to channel hobbies. In addition, students enjoy reading under the guidance of the teacher, because they can learn and share ideas and experiences while learning. The obstacle to optimizing the function of the literacy corner is the low introduction of a reading culture, the solution to optimizing the function of the literacy corner is that the teacher participates in providing books to be read by students, adapts to the needs of students in class and tries to complete a collection of various readings, so that when students read they do not seem boring. When they are in the literacy corner, carrying out DEAR (Drop Everything And Read) activities can create critical thinking so that they finally like reading activities.

Implementasi Konsep Spiritual Pedagogik Melalui Program Inpirasi Dhuha

This research aims to analyze the implementation of the spiritual pedagogical concept through the "Inspirasi Dhuha" program at SMAN 7 Bandung and its impact on the development of students' spiritual and moral values. The "Inspirasi Dhuha" program is the school's effort to integrate the spiritual dimension in education through a combination of Dhuha prayer activities and inspirational sessions from various life inspirators. This study employs a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data is collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews with students, teachers, and stakeholders of the program, as well as the analysis of documents related to the "Inspirasi Dhuha" program. The results of the analysis are interpreted to reveal the extent to which this program successfully integrates spiritual values in education and its impact on students' character development. Through this research, a deeper understanding is obtained regarding how the "Inspirasi Dhuha" program implements the spiritual pedagogical concept. Students respond positively to this program, and it influences their character and behavior development. The Dhuha prayer activity provides direct spiritual benefits to students through worship, while the inspirational sessions help them better understand life goals, career choices, and values that need to be upheld when facing challenges. The "Inspirasi Dhuha" program serves as a tangible example of how formal education or public schools can integrate spiritual values within the learning environment.

How Business Schools Support Students Pursuing Entrepreneurship: Insights from Nepalese Students

This study explores how Nepalese business schools are supporting students’ entrepreneurial aspirations and how they can further support student entrepreneurs. The study employed a qualitative research approach to gather students' perspectives on the effectiveness of current support systems. A total of seven interviews were conducted with students from two selected business schools. From the collective responses of the students, 8 prominent roles emerged, which were analysed using thematic analysis. The findings of the study revealed that business schools have been supporting their entrepreneurial students by imparting the theoretical knowledge required for entrepreneurship, complemented by providing platforms to apply the gained theoretical knowledge in a practical setting, nurturing their entrepreneurial skills through training and mentorship, facilitating the networking opportunity, and establishing the on-campus incubation centre. However, despite the continuous efforts of the business school, findings also revealed that there are many areas to be improved and given attention to motivate students to act on their entrepreneurial ideas. Findings suggest that Business schools should give more emphasis to funding Students’ business Ideas and modernising the method of teaching. This research contributes to an understanding of fostering entrepreneurship through business education in the context of business schools in Nepal.

Surviving, thriving, and resisting: Reimagining the ordinary gendered lives of TESOLers

AbstractThe guest editors introduce five studies in this special issue on gender equality. The five articles address the gender disparities in English language teaching as they intersect with learner and teacher identities. Despite progress made in the field for the past 20 years, we are reminded that women and queer individuals in our educational spaces, such as students and practitioners, continue to experience gender‐based oppression such as recent bans on abortion, control over their bodies, lack of access to education, basic needs such as food and housing security (Kendall, 2020), gender violence, homophobia and transphobia, and the silencing of teachers' racial and queer justice efforts in schools. Patriarchy, misogyny, and sexism—systems predicated on a gender binary and hierarchies—materialize in our educational contexts through homogenous views of identity and language that erase difference. These systems reward competition and hierarchical thinking while punishing creative border‐crossing practices. Therefore, understanding how social issues make their way into our language classrooms becomes important for all TESOLers and other educators as they directly shape students' learning, pedagogical practices, curriculum design, etc.. However, the authors of these studies also demonstrate that women and people with non‐conforming gender identities are still here and very much present in English language classrooms, surviving, resisting, and reimagining collective action for all to learn in more equitable conditions. This article builds on the studies presented in the special issue to suggest additional professional practices in order to mitigate gender‐based oppressions in the field.

Studi Tentang Fenomena Anak Putus Sekolah Di SMA Negeri 2 Muara Badak Kabupaten Kutai Kartenegara

This research aims to determine the study of the phenomenon of children dropping out of school at SMA Negeri 2 Muara Badak, Kutai Kartenegara Regency. This type of research is descriptive qualitative. The focus of this research is to determine the phenomenon of female students dropping out of school at SMA Negeri 2 Muara Badak and the school's efforts to deal with female students dropping out of school at SMA Negeri 2 Muara Badak. The data collection techniques used were observation, interviews and documentation. The data analysis techniques used are data reduction, data display, data presentation and drawing conclusions.The results of this research show that the factors causing children to drop out of school at SMA Negeri 2 Muara Badak are categorized based on internal and external factors. Low internal factors include motivation and lack of understanding of the importance of education, intelligence and learning disorders, as well as lack of discipline regarding time. Meanwhile, external factors are caused by teachers who are angry, fierce and like to curse, and there is a lack of family support to help these children overcome their problems at school.

Preventing Intolerant Understandings, Attitudes, and Behaviors Among Generation Z Muslims in Public and Islamic Schools

This research aims to explore school efforts to enhance resilience against intolerance through school policies. The study builds upon a survey conducted by previous researchers, which revealed that intolerant thoughts, attitudes, and behaviors have influenced Generation Z Muslim students in high schools. This research employs a qualitative method by conducting an in-depth and comprehensive analysis of the phenomena and the meaning of events, social dynamics, attitudes, beliefs, and perceptions of individuals or groups closely related to intolerance in high schools. The phenomena are examined through interviews, observations, and focus group discussions (FGD). The research findings conclude that schools have implemented various measures to enhance the resilience of the school community members through both internal and external policies. These include school policies and vision, curriculum quality and teaching, leadership and management, culture, student activities, and collaboration with external parties, including the facilitation of extracurricular activities. The research provides recommendations for more comprehensive efforts by developing a model of school policy insertion, both internal and external, that emphasizes tolerance values and prevents violence in schools. Character Education Through Example Values K.H. Mas Mansur in Learning History

Character education refers to school efforts to shape, guide, and develop student behavior according to specific standards. This research aims to analyze the biography and example of KH Mas Mansur and the cultivation of character education through the exemplary values of K.H. Mas Mansur in learning history in class XI IPS 1 MAN 1 Darussalam Ciamis. This research uses a qualitative research method and a case study design. The data collection techniques used were observation, interviews, and documentation. The research results show that (1) K.H. Mas Mansur was born in Surabaya on June 25, 1896. He is known as a young man who is diligent and trustworthy, always speaks well, and has extensive knowledge. K.H. Mas Mansur has been a leader in many institutions, such as Chairman of the Surabaya Branch of Muhammadiyah for two terms and Chairman of the Tarjih Council. (2) The exemplary values of K.H. Mas Mansur, which can be applied in history learning in class XI IPS 1 MAN 1 Darussalam Ciamis, namely religious values, discipline, curiosity, nationalism, patriotism, respect for achievement, friendly and communication, like to read, and a sense of responsibility, (3) Instilling character education through the exemplary values of K.H. Mas Mansur has been successfully implemented quite well and has had a positive impact on history learning in class XI IPS 1 starting from planning, implementation, to the evaluation stage.

Strengthening Character Education Through the Application of Religious Culture to Support the Pancasila Student Strengthening Project (P5) in Junior High Schools

This study aims to describe the forms of character education strengthening programs and the inhibiting and supporting factors for the implementation of religious culture to support the project of strengthening the Pancasila student profile (P5) at SMP Negeri 2 Takengon. This qualitative research was conducted at SMP Negeri 2 Takengon. This research is qualitative, holistic, and descriptive in terms of words and language in a special, natural context, and it utilizes various natural methods. This research will be conducted at SMP Negeri 2 Takengon. The data collection techniques are observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation review. Data analysis techniques are data reduction, data modeling, and conclusion verification. The results of this study are the school's efforts to strengthen character education through the application of religious culture to support the P5 project at SMP Negeri 2 Takengon Forms of strengthening character education through the application of religious culture to support the project to strengthen the profile of Pancasila students (P5) at SMP Negeri 2 Takengon including morning greeting activities, tahsin and tahfidz activities, women's activities/rohis, speech activities, literacy, Yasinan and Friday alms and activities to commemorate Islamic holidays. These activities have been proven to strengthen students' character and can support the project of strengthening the profile of Pancasila students. The supporting factors so that these activities can be carried out properly and continuously to strengthen the character of students are the principal's commitment and support from the teacher council, adequate facilities and infrastructure, and good management. The students' enthusiasm in participating in various religious and cultural activities. The factors that hinder the strengthening of students' character through religious culture to support the project of strengthening the profile of Pancasila students are the family or community environment, peers, the presence of activity coaches, and the lack of mastery of reading the Quran.

Peran Pendidikan Agama Islam dalam Pembentukan Karakter Siswa di SMP Negeri 3 Tanjung Pura

The purpose of this research is to explain the role of religious education in helping the process of character formation of students at Madinatussalam Private MTs. Qualitative descriptive research method. In the process of collecting data, using observation, interviews and documentation methods. Meanwhile, for the analysis, qualitative descriptive analysis techniques are used, namely in the form of written or verbal data from people and observed behavior so that in this case the author attempts to conduct research that thoroughly describes the actual situation. The author can conclude the results of this research as follows: First, the school's efforts to realize character education are: 1) conducting Islamic studies; 2) take advantage of the commemoration of Islamic Holidays (PHBI); 3) oblige and get used to saying hello and shaking hands with teachers; 4) oblige and make it a habit to always comply with the rules and culture at school; 5) make it mandatory and get used to always praying in congregation when at school. Second, the efforts of Islamic religious education teachers in forming student character: 1) maximizing the delivery of Islamic religious education material; 2) instilling the Islamic style of Ahlusunnah Waljama'ah; 3) Islamic religious education teachers must be active and be role models for their students in applying character education. Third, the strategies carried out by Islamic religious education teachers: 1) use of effective learning approach methods; 2) use of discussion and demonstration methods.

ACCELERATION AND INNOVATION OF PRODUCTS MADE FROM LOCAL FOOD AT SMAN 1 BEBER, CIREBON REGENCY

School is a very effective place of learning and character-building for students. Education in schools greatly influences knowledge, attitudes, consumption behaviors, and food choices. The Healthy Canteen and School Nutrition Garden are part of health education in schools. Educational institutions must be able to present and provide healthy canteens, as well as healthy food and school nutrition gardens, as one of the services that schools must provide to realize intelligent and healthy children. Therefore, schools are expected to accelerate and innovate food products made based on local food ingredients in schools. This Community Service activity continues NGTS education conducted in 2022 at SMAN 1 Beber. In 2023, we will continue to accelerate and innovate products produced and produced in school gardens and made by school residents for use. In addition, we hope this product innovation can be packaged well with special labeling of SMAN 1 Beber so that it can become one of the school's efforts to commercialize superior products that characterize SMAN 1 Beber.

Preparing future educational psychologists to prevent school bullying

Relevance. School bullying is a widespread problem that requires effective prevention strategies. However, many teachers and educational psychologists lack sufficient knowledge and skills to address bullying. There is a need to better prepare future educational psychologists to prevent and intervene in bullying situations. Purpose. The purpose of the research article is to develop and test an elective course for training future educational psychologists in bullying prevention in Kazakhstan schools. Methodology. An elective course titled �Prevention of school bullying: from theory to practice� was developed and implemented with third-year bachelor's students in Pedagogy and Psychology at L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University. The course included theoretical and practical components. Students' knowledge and skills were assessed before and after the course using tests and case studies. Results. Prior to the course, most students demonstrated low levels of knowledge and skills related to bullying prevention. After completing the course, students in the experimental group showed significant improvements, with 64% reaching a high level of competency compared to 0% in the control group. The course helped students acquire both theoretical knowledge and practical skills for addressing bullying. Conclusions. The elective course was effective in developing future educational psychologists' professional competencies for bullying prevention. Recommendations are provided for improving bullying prevention efforts in Kazakhstan schools, including raising awareness, providing training for teachers and psychologists, and maintaining communication with parents. The study demonstrates the importance of practice-oriented training in preparing educational psychologists to address school bullying.
