An Improved Artificial Bee Colony Algorithm in LoRa Wireless Communication System for Efficient Multimedia Transmission

Video streaming communication networks will be a very important way to send multimedia information anytime and anywhere, and the construction of the network base station which transmits signals is crucial in future. However, there is a contradiction between the power consumption of LoRa nodes and the real-timeliness of mesh network. In order to solve the contradiction, this article aims to combine the mesh network of LoRa wireless communication system with an improved artificial bee colony algorithm. Specifically, an artificial bee colony algorithm, which is based on RBF radial basis neural network trained with random gradient method, is designed. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm solves the contradiction between power consumption and real-timeliness effectively. When using this improved network system structure to send multimedia information, it shows obvious superiority in terms of the high efficiency and real-timeliness of multimedia transmission.

A network-assisted flow mobility architecture for optimized mobile medical multimedia transmission

A large part of mobile Health (mHealth) use-cases such as remote patient monitoring/diagnosis, teleconsultation, and guided surgical intervention requires advanced and reliable mobile communication solutions to provide efficient multimedia transmission with strict medical level Quality of Service (QoS) and Quality of Experience (QoE) provision. The increasing deployment of overlapping wireless access networks enables the possibility to offer the required network resources for ubiquitous and pervasive mHealth services. To address the challenges and support the above use-cases in today’s heterogeneous network (HetNet) environments, we propose a network-assisted flow-based mobility management architecture for optimized real-time mobile medical multimedia communication. The proposed system is empirically evaluated in a Pan-European HetNet testbed with multi-access Android-based mobile devices. We observed that the proposed scheme significantly improves the objective QoE of simultaneous real-time high-resolution electrocardiography and high-definition ultrasound transmissions while also enhances traffic load balancing capabilities of wireless architectures.

TCP does not ensure the bandwidth and delay bound required for multimedia streaming services in broadband wireless network environments. In this paper, we propose a new congestion control scheme for efficient multimedia transmission, called COLO TCP (Concave Increase Slow Start Logarithmic Increase Congestion Avoidance TCP). The COLO TCP prevents the burst packet loss by applying the concave increase algorithm in slow start phase. In the congestion avoidance phase, COLO TCP uses the logarithmic increase algorithm that quickly recovers congestion window after packet loss. To highly utilize network bandwidth and reduce packet loss ratio, COLO TCP uses additive increase algorithm and adaptive decrease algorithm . Through simulation results, we prove that our COLO TCP is more robust for random loss. It is also possible for efficient multimedia transmission.

Rate Allocation for SVC transmission in Energy-Constrained Wireless Sensor Networks

Due to the resource limitations, efficient multimedia transmission is still a challenging problem in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs). Toachieve this goal, provisioning the required rate and quality of video stream along with limitations of sensor nodes should be considered. The Scalable Video Coding (SVC) is an efficient approach to support the graceful quality reduction and scalabi lity of multimedia application thus we adopt it to encode video streams.In this paper, both Network Utility Maximization (NUM) and utility proportional optimization for scalable multimedia tra nsmission in WSNs are addressed. Link congestion and energy scarcity of sensor nodes are considered as the constraints in optimization problems. To depict the characteristics of these applications accurately, staircase utility function is adopted. The non -concavity of utility function leads to the non-convex problem. To deal with the non -convexity of the problem, an approximation of the utility function is used. Finally, we propose two distributed algorithm to allocate the resources properly by solving NUMand utility proportional problems in energy -constraints WSNs. The simulation results in different scenarios show the efficiency and proper rate of convergence of our proposed algorithms.

Joint Detection for Image Transmission Based on Schur Algorithm over Wireless Sensor Network

To achieve much efficient multimedia transmission over an error-prone wireless network, there are still some problem must to be solved, especially in energy limited wireless sensor network. In this paper, we propose a joint detection based on Schur Algorithm for image wireless transmission over wireless sensor network. To eliminate error transmissions and save transmission energy, we combine Schur algorithm with joint dynamic detection for wireless transmission of JPEG 2000 encoded image which we proposed in [1]. Schur algorithm is used to computing the decomposition of system matrix to decrease the computational complexity. We de-scribe our transmission protocol, and report on its performance evaluation using a simulation testbed we have designed for this purpose. Our results clearly indicate that our method could approach efficient images transmission in wireless sensor network and the transmission errors are significantly reduced when compared to regular transmissions.

Effective I/O Scheme Based on RTP for Multimedia Communication Systems

The prime standard for audio/video transport in IP networks is the Real-time Transport Protocol (RTP), and it is targeted at useful services for the transport of real-time multimedia data. RTP was originally designed for use in multicast conferences, using the lightweight sessions model. RTP (in particular, the data part) is so tightly coupled to the application that a number of people have developed libraries that implement RTP. However, little is known about the RTP overheads between user area and kernel area within operating system. Actually, unnecessary copying between user area and kernel area lowers the system efficiency. In this paper, we present the design and implementation of Enhanced Multimedia Input/Output Scheme based on LINUX. We brought focus to the crossover architecture supporting RTP. Our contributions are able to be summarized into two components: 1) Enhanced Input/Output (EIO) scheme based on LINUX improves tile transmission speed by reducing the overheads generated from data copy and context switch between user area and kernel area. And this enables server-based system to transport multimedia data more efficiently. 2) Furthermore, Enhanced Input/Output scheme with RTP (EIORTP) scheme supports efficient multimedia data transmission architecture. The two schemes improve the performance of massive multimedia data transmission.
