The elastic and inelastic scattering of 20.2 MeV protons from 88Sr has been studied. Angular distributions for the elastic and 14 inelastic groups were measured. The inelastic scattering was compared to the collective model of distorted wave approximation for multipolarities ( l) assignment and determination of strength parameter β l . The inelastic scattering to some states was also compared to coupled channel calculations and distorted wave calculations including antisymmetrization and using a microscopic wave function. In the latter case, reasonable agreement is obtained for the lowest 3 − state but the inaccuracy of the 2 + and 4 + states wave functions is reflected in the calculation of the differential cross sections. The effect of antisymmetrization is shown on a simple model.
