The recrystallization evolution, recrystallized grains, and recrystallization kinetics in cold-rolled continuous cast (CC) and direct-chill (DC) cast AA3003 aluminum alloys were investigated in detail. Recrystallization–precipitation–temperature–time (RPTT) diagrams for the CC and DC alloys were obtained. A remarkable difference in the recrystallization behavior between the CC and DC AA3003 aluminum alloys was found, attributed to the influence of concurrent precipitation. The temperature for complete recrystallization in the CC alloy after annealing for 1 h was found to be 116 °C higher than that in the DC alloy. Very coarse elongated grains were observed in the CC alloy annealing at 371 and 399 °C, and the size of the recrystallized grains decreased remarkably with increasing annealing temperature, while in the DC alloy the grain size decreased slightly. With the increase in the annealing temperature from 371 to 427 °C, the n value of the CC alloy decreased significantly from 4.3 to 0.8, while the n value of the DC alloy was around 1.4. Concurrent precipitation increased significantly the activation energy for recrystallization.
