Internal communication can be understood as the foundation and building blocks of an organizational culture. The existence of an organizational culture that is firmly adhered to by employees will greatly support the process of achieving the company's main goals (Agustini & Purnaningsih, 2018). This research was conducted using a qualitative approach, which is descriptive in nature and Human Relations Theory. The data collection method was carried out using in-depth interviews and observation methods. (Isniyunisyafna, & Isfiantie S, 2020). For employees, the role of effective internal communication in improving good and sustainable relationships is very important. Because good internal communication can strengthen social relationships, increase collaboration, solve problems, develop leadership skills.This research explores the urgency of internal communication in building a strong organizational culture, strengthening social relationships, and improving company performance. The Influence of Internal Communication, Work Discipline, and Teamwork on Employee Performance at the Regional House of Representatives Office in Gowa Regency

This study aims to determine and analyze the effect of internal communication on employee performance, work discipline on employee performance and teamwork on employee performance at the Office of the Regional House of Representatives of Gowa Regency. This type of research is quantitative research with a sample of 43 respondents using a questionnaire as data collection. The analysis used is Multiple Linear Regression Analysis using the SPSS V.24 application. The results showed that: 1. Internal communication has a positive and significant effect on employee performance, 2. Work discipline has a positive and insignificant effect on employee performance, and 3. Teamwork has a positive and significant effect on employee performance.

The Role of Civil Service Police Unit in Controlling Illegal Buildings in Cirebon City

The regulation of illegal buildings is a common problem in various cities in Indonesia, including Cirebon City. These buildings are often constructed without official permission from local governments, leading to issues such as insecurity, environmental damage, and discomfort for the surrounding community. This study aims to evaluate the role of the Civil Service Police Unit in regulating these buildings and identify the factors influencing the success of their efforts. The research employs a normative juridical method, examining the norms and rules related to the issue, combined with a sociological approach through direct observation and interviews. The findings indicate that while the Civil Service Police Unit has made efforts to regulate illegal buildings in Cirebon City, their efforts have not been optimal. Challenges include a lack of personnel, inadequate infrastructure, limited budget, and low public awareness of local regulations. However, supporting factors such as the quality of human resources and effective internal and external coordination and communication exist. It is recommended that the Cirebon City Civil Service Police Unit enhance public awareness through socialization of local regulations, increase the budget, improve facilities and infrastructure, and enforce strict sanctions against violators.

Leaders’ knowledge systems in strategizing communication in high-uncertain and low-uncertain crises: balancing operational and relational outcomes

Purpose Research on leaders’ knowledge management systems focuses exclusively on how leaders gather and disseminate knowledge in collaboration with external actors. Not much is known about how leaders address the psychological aspects of employees and strategize internal communication. In addition, while previous work has treated high uncertainty as a default feature of crisis, this study aims to propose that perceived uncertainty varies in experience/meaning and has a crucial bearing on the relative balance of cognitive/emotional load on the leader and behavioral/psychological responses. Design/methodology/approach The authors contribute by qualitatively examining the role of leader knowledge systems in designing communication strategies in the context of the COVID-19 crisis by investigating communication characteristics, style, modes and the relatively unaddressed role of compassion/persuasion. In this pursuit, the authors interviewed 21 C-suite leaders, including chief executive officers, chief marketing officers, chief financial officers, chief human resource officers and founders, and analyzed their data using open, axial and selective coding, which were later extracted for representative themes and overarching dimensions. Findings Drawing from grounded theory research, the authors present a framework of knowledge systems and their resultant communication with employees in high uncertain and low uncertain crises. The authors highlight interactions of a set of concepts – leaders’ preparedness, leaders’ support to employees tailored communication adapted to perceived uncertainty, leading to enhanced trust – in the achievement of outcomes related to balancing operational and relational systems with employees. The findings suggest that a structured process of communication helps employees mitigate any concern related to uncertainty and feel confident in their leadership. Originality/value The research has implications for leaders in managing their knowledge systems, for human esources practitioners in designing effective internal communication programs, as well as for scholars in knowledge management, communication and leadership.

STRATEGIC ASPECTS OF HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGEMENT IN THE CONTEXT OF MILITARY OPERATIONS: UKRAINIAN EXPERIENCE

The purpose of the article is to study the strategic aspects of human resource management in the context of military operations and to substantiate the ways to minimise the negative effects of permanent crisis phenomena. Theoretical research has shown that when quarantine is lifted and during martial law, it is not about increasing the company's efficiency, but about how not to lose it. The research forms the theoretical and methodological basis for the practical aspects of HR management under martial law, but further study is needed to adapt the methods of HR management of organisations and enterprises to the conditions of military operations. An important aspect of management is to create conditions for the development of innovation, team spirit and the pursuit of high quality. Encouraging employees to be flexible in the interests of an adaptive organisation and continuously improving the quality of work are key. In addition, it is important to maintain working conditions that guarantee a high level of employee health and safety. By summarising theoretical studies and expert assessments, the article provides general approaches to the development of a human resources management strategy in the context of armed conflict. In the context of a permanent armed conflict localised in certain regions, it is important to have sufficiently qualified and trained personnel capable of effectively performing the tasks assigned. It is substantiated that motivation and recognition are important factors of personnel management in organisations. Ensuring the safety of personnel is the main task in wartime. The importance of effective internal communications in wartime increases significantly. The conditions of armed conflict can change very quickly, making flexibility and adaptability important qualities in human resources management. Organisations need to be prepared for rapid changes in plans and objectives, as well as changes in staffing levels. Effective management and leadership can ensure staff cohesion and motivation and ensure that tasks are completed successfully. Organisations should be prepared for changes in plans and strategies, as well as in the composition of their staff. The use of integrated approaches to strategy development will help organisations to effectively manage their workforce in times of war and ensure the functioning of their organisations.

The Mediating Effect of Motivation between Internal Communication and Job Satisfaction

Communication in organisations is essential for them to be competitive in a global world that is constantly changing. Internal communication especially can be a highly effective and useful strategic tool for improving organisational performance through employee motivation and satisfaction. Based on a questionnaire survey completed by 426 employees of Portuguese organisations, this work aims to understand, using a partial least squares structural equation model, the importance of internal communication in the motivation and satisfaction of Portuguese employees. The results show that internal communication in organisations directly influences job satisfaction and also indirectly, through motivation at work, giving motivation at work the role of mediator. It is therefore important for Portuguese organisations to invest in effective internal communication strategies in order to promote employee motivation and satisfaction, recognising motivation as a key mediator in the relationship between internal communication and job satisfaction.

Internal Communication Strategies and Employee Engagement

Purpose: The general purpose of the study was to investigate internal communi8cation strategies and employee engagement.
 Methodology: The study adopted a desktop research methodology. Desk research refers to secondary data or that which can be collected without fieldwork. Desk research is basically involved in collecting data from existing resources hence it is often considered a low cost technique as compared to field research, as the main cost is involved in executive’s time, telephone charges and directories. Thus, the study relied on already published studies, reports and statistics. This secondary data was easily accessed through the online journals and library.
 Findings: The findings reveal that there exists a contextual and methodological gap relating to political public relations. Preliminary empirical review revealed that the importance of effective internal communication strategies in fostering employee engagement is evident from numerous studies, which consistently highlight the positive association between transparent communication, two-way communication, leadership communication, and the use of multiple communication channels with higher levels of engagement. Leadership communication, particularly, plays a crucial role in shaping organizational culture and values, impacting employees' commitment to organizational goals. However, challenges such as information overload, language barriers, and discrepancies in communication effectiveness across departments exist. Addressing these challenges requires a multifaceted approach, including training programs and technology investment. Overall, this study underscores the significance of internal communication in enhancing engagement and organizational success, emphasizing the need for future research to explore specific strategies and emerging trends in different organizational contexts.
 Unique Contribution to Theory, Practice and Policy: The Social Exchange theory, Self-Determination theory and Social Identity theory may be used to anchor future studies on internal communication strategies. The study offered key recommendations to enhance organizational practices and improve employee engagement. It emphasizes the importance of transparency, two-way communication, and effective leadership communication in fostering trust and collaboration among employees. Additionally, leveraging multiple communication channels, ensuring consistent messaging, and recognizing employee contributions are vital for promoting engagement and motivation. By implementing these recommendations, organizations can cultivate a positive work environment where employees feel valued, informed, and empowered to contribute to organizational success.

Analysis of Internal Communication and Job Satisfaction on Employee Loyalty and Service Quality at Import Companies in Jakarta

This study investigates the relationship between internal communication, job satisfaction, employee loyalty, and service quality in a Jakarta-based import company. Through quantitative analysis involving 150 employees, this study used Structural Equation Modeling (SEM-PLS) to examine the relationships among these key variables. The findings show a significant positive relationship, indicating that effective internal communication and increased job satisfaction positively influence service quality and employee loyalty. The results of this study carry implications for organizational strategies in fostering a conducive work environment, increasing employee satisfaction, and ultimately improving service quality in the context of the import industry in Jakarta.

Internal Communication Management Strategy to Increase Office Administration Effectiveness

This research discusses Internal Communication Management Strategies to Increase the Effectiveness of Office Administration at PT Hana Kreasi Utama in Jakarta using a combined qualitative and quantitative approach. Using interview, observation and documentation study methods, this research aims to understand the impact of internal communication strategies on the effectiveness of office administration. Involving all PT Hana Kreasi Utama employees, this research obtained in-depth data and statistics to support the analysis. The research results show that the company implements internal communication strategies such as integrated systems, regular meetings, and technology. This strategy positively impacts interdepartmental efficiency and collaboration, speeds up workflow, and increases employee understanding of company goals. Discussion of the research results links the findings to organizational communication theory, highlighting the importance of factors such as message alignment and employee participation. Key factors supporting success involve message alignment, openness, and employee participation. These findings strengthen the relationship between effective internal communication and administrative performance. Practical implications and recommendations are presented to support companies in improving their internal communications management. Comparison with previous research confirms the consistency of the internal communication strategy findings. Nonetheless, contextual differences need to be taken into account, and the practical implications of previous research can help companies improve strategy implementation. This discussion provides a comprehensive understanding of the importance of Internal Communication Management Strategies to Increase the Effectiveness of Office Administration at PT Hana Kreasi Utama in Jakarta.

Fixed-time sliding mode estimator-based distributed formation control for multiple nonholonomic mobile robots

This paper proposes a fixed-time estimator-based distributed formation controller for a system consisting of multiple nonholonomic mobile robots, taking into consideration the stability of individuals and the effectiveness of internal communication. The desired trajectory of the formation is given by the virtual leader whose state is available only to some followers, and the information interaction within the followers is localized. To begin with, a distributed fixed-time sliding mode estimator is designed for each follower to estimate the state information of the virtual leader within a fixed time. Subsequently, based on the estimator, a formation controller is designed according to the trajectory tracking error of each follower. In addition, the Lyapunov function is constructed for stability analysis. Finally, simulation experiments are conducted in MATLAB/Simulink to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed estimator and controller, and the robustness of the control system is further verified by combining the actual situation of communication interruption and external disturbance.

The impact of sustainable internal branding on teaching staff’s commitment: application on private higher education institutions

ABSTRACT This study aims to extend the boundary of knowledge about internal branding, which touches on two disciplines: marketing and human resources management in an attempt to understand the constructs of internal branding and their impact on the commitment of service providers (higher education teaching staff members) so that they support the brand promise of the university and maintain a competitive edge for private universities in Egypt that function in a very competitive market. Data were collected from 402 members of teaching staff to test the proposed model and hypotheses using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The results prove the fitness of the suggested model and that the constructs of internal branding (supervisory support, effective internal communication, clear vision and values) do have a significant impact on teaching staff commitment except for the construct of directed training programs (DTP), contrary to previous literature which might be because teaching staff commitment may require variables other than training programs which in turn rings a bell for private universities’ management to partially reconsider the budgets directed to training for teaching staff or it could be due to cultural differences as previous literature was mostly conducted in different cultures, thus a value addition of this study.

Commercial provider staff experiences of the NHS low calorie diet programme pilot: a qualitative exploration of key barriers and facilitators

BackgroundThe National Health Service Type 2 Diabetes Path to Remission programme in England (known as the NHS Low Calorie Diet programme when piloted) was established to support people living with excess weight and Type 2 Diabetes to lose weight and improve their glycaemic control. A mixed method evaluation was commissioned to provide an enhanced understanding of the long-term cost effectiveness of the pilot programme, its implementation, equity and transferability across broad and diverse populations. This study provided key insights on implementation and equity from the service providers’ perspective.MethodsThirteen focus groups were conducted with commercial providers of the programme, during the initial pilot rollout. Participants were purposively sampled across all provider organisations and staff roles involved in implementing and delivering the programme. Normalisation Process Theory (NPT) was used to design the topic schedule, with the addition of topics on equity and person-centredness. Data were thematically analysed using NPT constructs with additional inductively created codes. Codes were summarised, and analytical themes generated.ResultsThe programme was found to fulfil the requirements for normalisation from the providers’ perspective. However, barriers were identified in engaging GP practices and receiving sufficient referrals, as well as supporting service users through challenges to remain compliant. There was variation in communication and training between provider sites. Areas for learning and improvement included adapting systems and processes and closing the gap where needs of service users are not fully met.ConclusionsThe evaluation of the pilot programme demonstrated that it was workable when supported by effective primary care engagement, comprehensive training, and effective internal and external communication. However, limitations were identified in relation to programme specifications e.g. eligibility criteria, service specification and local commissioning decisions e.g. pattern of roll out, incentivisation of general practice. A person-centred approach to care is fundamental and should include cultural adaptation(s), and the assessment and signposting to additional support and services where required.

Effective Communication Methods in Entrepreneurship Case Study of Qism Maqsof Banat STIBA Ar Raayah Sukabumi

This research aims to find out the effective communication methods of Qism Maqshaf Banat STIBA Ar Raayah in entrepreneurship. STIBA Ar Raayah students come from all over the archipelago from Sabang to Merauke which of course consists of various cultures, language dialects and distinctive communication characteristics in enriching the treasures of communication diversity in this pesantren-based college. This research uses a case study method with a qualitative approach supported by interviews, observation, and documentation. The results showed that to achieve effective internal communication, Qism Maqshaf goes through a series of processes, namely by conducting research on the needs and desires of female students and then in a traditional way they spread product reviews, as well as evaluating and providing feedback to suppliers. Qism Maqshaf members always provide the best service for prospective buyers in accordance with the vision and mission of business communication, such as by trying to understand the cultural characters and language dialects of each student who is a customer. Communication that is put forward in muamalah here is persuasive communication, which is to change or influence a person's attitude or behavior so that it acts in accordance with what is expected by the communicator.

Two-way asymmetrical communication mediating internal communication and employee engagement

This study investigated the relationship between employee engagement with internal communication factors in the context of a prominent e-commerce company in Malaysia. The study employed a quantitative data approach, utilising a simple random sampling method. Data collection was conducted through structured questionnaires were administered to 255 respondents representing various departments within the e-commerce company, including finance, sales and marketing, operations management, human resources, and IT. The study’s outcomes demonstrated a significantly positive relationship between communication climate and employee engagement, which is critical for retaining employee commitment. The study’s findings confirmed a positive relationship between organisation communication and employee engagement, which promotes engagement. However, two-way asymmetrical communication showed negative effects when analysed for the mediating role. These findings underscore the importance of effective internal communication in organisations, especially within the context of a leading e-commerce company. Additionally, they should be aware of the potential negative consequences of asymmetrical communication and strive for more balanced and ethical communication practices. This study contributes to the existing body of knowledge by bridging the gap in scientific research on the relationship between internal communication and employee engagement, particularly in the Malaysian context. By drawing on stakeholders’ and relationship management theories, this research provides valuable insights into the theoretical foundations of this relationship, confirming the relevance of these theories in the organisational setting.

Employee education level and efficiency of corporate investment

PurposeIn this study, the authors explore the association between employee education level and the efficiency of corporate investment using data from a sample of Chinese listed firms during the period from 2011 to 2018. By examining the impact of education on investment efficiency, the authors' study provides valuable insights that contribute to a deeper understanding of the underlying economic mechanisms related to education.Design/methodology/approachThe authors conduct multivariate regression analyses to examine the relationship between investment efficiency (following Richardson, 2006) and the level of employee education, along with a series of control variables. To ensure the reliability of the authors' findings, the authors subject the their results to a comprehensive set of robustness tests, such as a staggered difference-in-difference (DiD) regression approach, an instrumental variable (IV) method and the use of alternative employee education level and investment efficiency measurements.FindingsThe findings offer compelling evidence that higher levels of education have a positive impact on firms' investment efficiency, and this effect remains robust across various model specifications and endogeneity considerations. Moreover, the influence of education is more pronounced in firms that prioritize employee training, maintain effective internal communication and offer attractive financial rewards. Furthermore, the results suggest that the relationship between education and investment efficiency is influenced by the firms' business nature and competitive environment. Factors such as business complexity, labor intensity and business location also play a role in shaping the impact of education on investment outcomes.Originality/valueThe study emphasizes the crucial role of education in influencing investment decisions and performance within firms. By delving into this previously unexplored area, the authors' research contributes to the existing literature, establishing that the level of employee education is a significant determinant of corporate investment efficiency. This valuable insight has substantial implications for firms aiming to enhance their investment decision-making processes and overall performance. Understanding the positive impact of education on investment efficiency can empower organizations to leverage their human capital effectively and achieve better investment outcomes, ultimately contributing to long-term success and competitiveness in the market.

Effective Internal Communication and Teacher Burnout

Teacher burnout is a phenomenon that has ravaged the teaching profession over the years, drawing the attention of scholars from the education field. Due to its prevalence, numerous studies have been conducted to ascertain its causes, effects, and possible remedies. While there may not be a panacea for burnout, it is essential that continual research be undertaken to unearth more effective ways of tackling teacher burnout. Research has established that communication plays a significant role in impacting burnout. It is against this backdrop that the researcher aims to make a case for internal communication as a feasible solution to counteracting teacher burnout. In line with this purpose, this article reviews relevant literature on teacher burnout and internal communication, showing a connection between the two variables.

A systematic review of digital internal communication

The digitalization of greater society has permeated organizations, where managers are reassessing how internal communication is practiced and defined, particularly in the context of public relations and strategic communication. These changes were already underway before the COVID-19 pandemic, which strongly highlighted the importance of effective internal communication. Now more than ever, digital transformation is profoundly affecting internal communication, yet there are substantial gaps in our understanding of the current situation. This study aims to identify and provide an overview of the research in the area through a systematic review of 77 research studies published in 52 journals between the beginning of 1990 and November 2022. The findings reveal the evolution of research on digital internal communication and highlight geographical, theoretical, and methodological gaps that should be addressed in future work. First of all, the effectiveness of different internal communication channels needs to be thoroughly researched. This includes the effectiveness of collaboration tools and platforms, the influence of channels that enable remote work, and the significance of gamification and an interactive communication approach. Also, digitalization in internal communication should be given more attention from a social perspective, underlining the effects of internal communication digitalization on employees and their satisfaction as well as employee concerns with privacy, control, and other ethical dilemmas regarding easy accessibility to data. Finally, digitalization of internal communication should be researched as a transformation process within organizations, which has not yet been done.

Organizational resilience: unveiling the role of strategic internal crisis management on employee sensemaking and sensegiving

PurposeCommunication with employees during times of crisis has become a crucial aspect of crisis management for building organizational resilience knowledge. Thus, explaining how internal crisis management promotes positive employee behaviour has become imperative. This study aims to investigate the relationship between internal crisis communication, job engagement, Organizational Citizenship Behaviour towards the Environment, Communicative behaviour for sensemaking and sensegiving and organizational resilience.Design/methodology/approachAn online survey was conducted with 483 full-time employees in Pakistan. The structural equation modelling technique was employed to assess the study's hypotheses.FindingsThe findings of this study demonstrate that internal crisis communication can boost employee job engagement, organizational citizenship behaviour towards environment, sensemaking and sensegiving, which will also have a downstream effect on organizational resilience.Practical implicationsThe findings of this study indicated that effective internal communication can aid managers in making well-informed decisions, coordinating response efforts and disseminating vital information to relevant stakeholders. As a result, this study contributes to the literature on internal crisis management by incorporating employee behavioural intention towards the environment. It provides managers and practitioners with knowledge on managing employees during a crisis.Originality/valueSurprisingly, the conservation of resource theory (COR) does not explain communicative conduct (sensegiving) and environmental (e.g. organizational citizenship behaviour towards environment) components. This research combines the tenets of COR theory that have yet to be researched with the employees' environmental responses element. The mechanisms of cognition and communication were also ignored in earlier studies. This study sheds light on the process through which higher levels of job engagement, organizational citizenship behaviour towards environment and the capacity for comprehension (e.g. sensemaking) and meaning-transmission (e.g. sensegiving) ultimately help organizations navigate the crisis successfully.

Enhancing Emotional Culture Through Internal Communication: Impact on Employee-Organization Relationships and Employee Advocacy

ABSTRACT This study aims to propose and test an integrative model that incorporates internal communication, positive emotional culture, and employee-organization relationships. Drawing from the relationship management theory in public relations and social exchange theory, the model specifically examines the role of employee-organization relationship quality (by considering the effect of internal communication) on employee advocacy with an emphasis on the role of positive emotional culture. To test the hypothesized model, the authors conducted a quantitative survey on a random sample of 287 front-line employees working in two five-star tourist hotels in the Tehran area of Iran. To test the hypothesized model, structural equation modeling analysis was employed. The findings of the present research indicated that symmetrical communication and responsive leadership communication cultivated a positive emotional culture in organizations. Such a culture then enhanced employee-organization relationships. In addition, symmetrical communication, responsive leadership communication, and positive emotional culture influenced employee-organization relationships. Finally, it was found that positive emotional culture and the quality of employee-organization relationships positively affected employee advocacy. This study is one of the first attempts to theorize and operationalize emotional culture to enhance the quality of employee-organization relationships and employees’ supportive behaviors (e.g., employee advocacy) in the hotel industry, which fills the research gap in decades of organizational culture research that focused predominantly on the cognitive aspect. Theoretical and practical implications of the findings are discussed.
