The Use of Cake Application in Learning English Speaking Skills

Technology is quite important to use in everyday lives in this modern day. Young learners nowadays use technology for study and it can assist teachers and students in carrying out learning tasks. There are various applications available right now that can help kids learn more effectively; one such app for learning to speak is the cake app. This study aims to analyze the use of Cake application as a tool to learn English speaking skills. A literature study was conducted in this research. A literature study is a data collecting strategy that comprises doing study studies of books, literature, records, and reports that have to do with issues solved. One of the most important abilities in learning English is speaking and a skill practiced in speaking is how to pronounce words properly and correctly. The Cake program is a tool for learning English. Playlist Corporation's Cake - Learn English for Free in the category of Education is developed by Playlist Corporation. There are several features in this application such as watching short movie and practicing speaking by using dialogue. The research's goal is to look into how Cake Application can be used to learn how to speak.

SUSTAINABILITY VALUES: A COMPREHENSIVE FRAMEWORK FOR ADULT EDUCATION

Sustainability means prioritising the needs of all life forms and of the planet by ensuring that human activity does not exceed planetary boundaries. Adult education plays an important role in empowering adult learners to foster sustainability and its values. Sustainability competence is guided by sustainability values. Competence is considered as an educational category, thereby adult education is aimed at infusing sustainability values into adult learning. However, sustainability values are an under-explored area in scientific literature. Only sustainability values for children have been listed. The aim of this research is to analyse sustainability values in scientific literature underpinning the creation of a framework of sustainability values to be embedded into adult education. The exploratory research is employed in this work as there is no well-defined framework of sustainability values. Scientific literature review as a method of investigation is deployed. Obtained data are processed via content analysis. A novel framework of inter-related sustainability values was created. The novel framework is based on the principles of interconnectedness and interdependency of sustainability values. The framework categorizes sustainability values from the external and internal perspectives. A new research question has been formulated: What are modern methods to foster adult learners’ sustainability values?

Early retirement incentives and transition into informality

This paper explores the impact of a super early retirement incentive that allowed men to retire as early as 44 years old in Turkey in 1992. Relying on a Fuzzy Regression Discontinuity Design, I find that taking up the incentives significantly reduced the labor force participation of middle-aged men in Turkey. Analysis by education categories suggests that the incentives had an impact on both the skilled and unskilled labor force. I find that the policy-induced take-up of pension benefit receipt significantly increased the probability of moving into informal employment contracts. Findings suggest that the probability of informal wage employment increased for low-skilled individuals while the probability of informal self-employment probability increased for high-skilled individuals. Among low-skilled workers, the incentives seem to have relaxed credit constraints.

How Many Videos are Cited in Academic Research

This research aims to measure the occurrence of videos cited in the research publications by Indian researchers. More specifically, we investigated the videos associated with scholarly publications and analysed the usefulness of those videos using computational methods. The bibliographic metadata was gathered from Scopus using advanced search techniques. A total of 2,121 publications cited 3,191 online videos during 2008-2022, but 2,736 videos were considered for further analysis due to discrepancies in video IDs. The free Google API for YouTube was used to extract video metadata from YouTube, and the raw data was edited and extracted using OpenRefine, an opensource data carpentry tool. The diagrams have been made using R Studio. The result indicates a linear growth of cited videos from 2008-2018; an exponential increase is observed from 2019 onwards. Most videos are cited from the Computer Science and Social Science disciplines, and journal articles are the most preferred document types that mention videos. The Education category videos are cited the most, and the channel TEDx Talks produced the maximum number of cited videos in research publications. The overall study shows that YouTube is emerging as a significant source of information for research and educational purposes.

Anxiety Theory in School Selection Preferences in the View of Islamic Psychology

Education is an important thing for humans. The human need for education is primary. However, in pursuing education, schools are needed which are the category of formal education. School is a way to get an education. However, over time, school selection has become a scourge for children. The underlying factors are the zoning registration system, and the dominance of parents in determining schools. Parents tend to refer to madrasas or Islamic-based schools in the hope of getting more integrated Islamic lessons. This gives rise to a feeling of anxiety in children and are not free in determining their choices. This article will discuss the causes of the appearance of symptoms anxiety in children in school selection preference. This case study took place on Jl. Margosari rt.04 rw.07, Sawah Besar, Gayamsari, Semarang. This research uses the case study method and literature study at the same time. The results revealed that 25% of children objected if their parents forced them to attend further education at madrasah.

Gender disproportionality in special education: An analysis of odd ratios and trends

AbstractIn Turkey, the special education population has steadily increased since 2006. By generating a 16‐year period of data obtained from the National Education Statistics (NES) published annually by the Presidency of Strategy Development of the Ministry of National Education, we synthesize the gender odds ratios and trends by special education categories and/or educational settings. We used odds ratios and the Mann‐Kendall test for data analysis. Gender disproportionality exists in favour of males with special needs in the majority of educational settings. In addition, we found uptrends, downtrends, and no trends for gender odds ratios. Gender disproportionality is discussed, along with implications for research and practice.

The Rate of Return on Education Investment in South Sumatra Province: An Analysis

This research was conducted to determine the rate of return on education investment for workers in South Sumatra Province. The data used was obtained from the SAKERNAS for February 2022 provided by BPS and consisted of 2965 selected samples. The analyzed data includes the workers’ wages, education level, work experience, gender, economic sector they belong to, and regional category. The results of this study suggest that the level of education, work experience, gender, economic sector, and regional category collectively influence the amount of wages received by the workers. Changes in wages can be attributed to the variables of education level, work experience, gender, economic sector, and regional category, accounting for 19.5% of the observed variance. The remaining 80.5% of the variance is attributed to other variables not considered in this study. Furthermore, the findings indicate that the rate of return on education investment is expected to increase in 2022, corresponding with higher levels of education among the workers. #Infertility: Evaluation of Quality and Accuracy of TikTok Videos [ID 2683621

INTRODUCTION: The objective of this study was to determine the quality and accuracy of infertility content on TikTok using the validated DISCERN scoring system. METHODS: The top 100 TikTok videos tagged “#Infertility” were assessed across 15 DISCERN categories by three reviewers. Videos were classified by type (educational, lifestyle, entertainment) and creator (patient, obstetrician–gynecologist, non-physician health care professionals, non-health care professionals, unknown). Multiple linear regression explored the creator-DISCERN score correlation, adjusting for video type, with significance at P<.05. RESULTS: One hundred videos were assessed: 59 lifestyle, 24 entertainment, and 17 educational, with a mean DISCERN score of 23.64±0.636. The majority of videos scored less than 39, indicating “poor”/“very poor” quality, while five scored “fair” with 39+. Most videos were patient-created (68%), followed by obstetrician–gynecologist-created (14%). There was significant association between creator and DISCERN score with patient-created videos (mean, 21.71±0.545) scoring lower than obstetrician–gynecologist-created videos (mean, 29.41±2.142; P<.001). Chi-squared independence test showed significance in video type distribution among creators with 82% of patient videos falling in the lifestyle category and 71% of obstetrician–gynecologist videos falling in the educational category (X2=67.537; df=8; P<.001). After adjusting for video type, linear regression showed no significant difference among scores of patient and obstetrician–gynecologist videos (P=.184). CONCLUSION: Fertility-related TikTok videos created by patients had lower DISCERN scores than those created by obstetrician–gynecologists. These results demonstrate that TikTok does not provide appropriate knowledge to educate patients. There is an increased need for unbiased fertility-related content on TikTok.

Adult Cancer Patients' Perceptions of Factors That Influence Hospital Admissions.

To explore cancer patients' perceptions of factors that influence hospital readmissions. A cross-sectional, prospective design was employed utilizing a 1-time survey and brief interviews to measure patients' perceptions and unplanned hospital admissions. The principal investigator collected data from medical record review, the Hospital Admission Survey, and interviews to measure patient characteristics and perceptions of influencing factors that contributed to an unplanned hospital admission upon admission. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics to categorize patient perceptions of influencing factors of unplanned hospital admissions. The top reasons for admission were symptoms of uncontrolled gastrointestinal, pain, fever, and respiratory problems. The majority perceived the admission was unavoidable and wanted to avoid an admission. Perceived influencing factors were related to survey categories of 1) communication (ie, cannot reach physician anytime, cannot get a next-day appointment, medical problems are out of control, advised to go to the emergency department) and 2) home environment (ie, unable to adequately manage symptoms at home and hospital admission is the best place for care). Other survey categories of patient education and palliative care were not perceived as influencing or contributing factors. These findings highlight opportunities for clinical nurse specialists to target these vulnerable patients and provide expert consultation to address potential barriers and gaps in utilization of appropriate supportive services that may reduce unplanned hospital admissions.

Parent Education and Adolescent Health Outcomes: The Potential Role of Adolescent Academic Intention

Abstract: Parental educational attainment significantly shapes child socioeconomic status, potentially influencing various aspects of adolescent health. This study aimed to uncover the relationships between parental education and self-reported adolescent health outcomes, including overall health, mental well-being, and body mass index (BMI). Analyzing data from 1,448 participants in the Future of Families and Child Wellbeing Study, we identified notable associations. Our findings revealed that higher maternal and paternal education correlated with reduced odds of adolescent obesity. Furthermore, increased adolescent academic intention was associated with better overall and mental health in adolescents. Notably, it also played a mediating role in lowering adolescent BMI, thereby potentially explaining the association between parent education and adolescent BMI category (overweight vs. obese). These findings emphasize the significant impact of both parent education and adolescent academic intention on adolescent health. Future research should explore interventions leveraging academic intention to positively influence the health trajectory of adolescents.

Dietary Flavonoid Intakes in France Are Linked to Brewed Tea Consumption and to Socioeconomic Status: Analyses of the Third French Individual and National Food Consumption (INCA3) Survey for Children and Adults.

Flavonoids from green and black tea may benefit cardiovascular health. Brewed tea consumption and flavonoid intake in France have not been previously explored. This study assessed the dietary intake of flavonoids among French children and adults, using 3 days' dietary recall for 3896 persons aged >4 y in the Third French Individual and National Food Consumption Survey (INCA3). Foods consumed by INCA 3 participants were manually matched with the flavonoid content of foods from the French PhenolExplorer database and the US Department of Agriculture expanded flavonoid database (2018 version). The six subclasses of flavonoids were flavan-3-ols, flavanones, anthocyanidins, flavonols, flavones, and isoflavones. Flavonoid intake was stratified by age subgroups (children and adults separately) and examined using socio-demographics and tea consumption patterns. Mean flavonoid intake was 210 mg/d. Flavonoids in the French diet were predominantly flavan-3-ols (147 mg/d), of which tea is the main source. The effects of age, education, income, and socio-professional category (SPC) on flavonoid intake were all significant (p < 0.0001). Brewed tea consumers were 31.88% of French adults and 3.79% of children. Brewed tea consumption and flavonoid intake were highly correlated. The highest brewed tea and flavonoid intakes were found among individuals with the highest SPC and education levels. Flavonoid intake in France was associated with brewed tea consumption and with higher education and income.

Investigation of the Status of Music Teaching in Middle School under the Background of "Art into the Middle School Entrance Examination" in Dejiang County, China

Aesthetic education is an indispensable part of all-round quality education. Art education belongs to the category of aesthetic education and is an important content and way to implement aesthetic education. Music education is a form of education with music art as the medium and aesthetics as the core. In October, 2020, the general offices of the General Office of the Central Committee of the CPC and the State Council issued the Opinions on Comprehensively Strengthening and Improving Aesthetic Education in Schools in the New Era, which put forward the requirement of bringing art subjects into the pilot reform of senior high school entrance examination. The implementation of the new policy of "art entering the senior high school entrance examination" is a brand-new challenge to junior high school music teaching. In order to better implement the policy of "art entering the senior high school entrance examination", it is necessary to understand the current situation of junior high school music teaching. In this study, 241 junior high school students in four middle schools in Dejiang County, Guizhou Province were investigated from three aspects: their attitude towards music, the basic reasons for liking music and the mastery of basic music skills, and then the data were statistically analyzed by Excel and SPSS software. Based on the analysis results of the previous part, combined with the requirements of "Art Entrance Examination", this paper puts forward that we should pay more attention to music courses, enrich the content of music courses and strengthen the teaching of basic music knowledge.

Education and culture: cross-cultural analysis

The paper deals with the basic pedagogical categories of education, training, upbringing in cross-cultural aspect. The differences in the conceptual apparatus of domestic and foreign pedagogy in the definition of education, as well as in the allocation of upbringing and training as components of education are shown. Recently, the content of education is largely understood as a projection of the main components of culture. Culture is an umbrella term that includes all the material and non-material aspects of any human society. The understanding of «culture» is important for pedagogy in general, since it is the transfer of culture that is the purpose of education, which is recognized by the whole world pedagogy. Education is understood as a process of transfer – appropriation of culturally formalized samples of human activity and its results in the form of knowledge, ways of activity, attitudes, values. Education is the basis for the transfer and sometimes transformation of culture. Understanding this interaction is difficult because «education» and «culture» are difficult to define precisely, and also because the interaction goes in both directions: culture influences education, and education influences culture.

An evaluation of physical medicine and rehabilitation accredited sports medicine fellowship websites.

Due to the virtual format of fellowship applications, prospective physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R) sports medicine fellowship applicants commonly rely upon fellowship website content to make decisions about applications. Studies have shown that information available to fellowship applicants on program websites is inadequate, and there is no standard for important components of sports medicine fellowship websites. To determine what sports medicine fellowship program features PM&R residents, fellows, and attending physicians consider the most important to be listed on fellowship websites, as well as to assess the scope of information available on fellowship websites. We developed a 30-item list of criteria that fell into categories of general information, fellowship education, recruitment, experience, and academic research. Survey participants were asked to rank the importance of those various items. We then assessed the 21 PM&R accredited sports medicine fellowship websites for the presence of these criteria. Ninety-six survey respondents composed of PM&R residents, current sports medicine fellows, and attendings. Not applicable. Not applicable. Items ranked as most important were those in the categories of general information, fellowship experience, and fellowship recruitment. The most valued items were program location, program coordinator contact information, program length, specific requirements for applying, number of positions, types of procedures taught, and specific sites covered. Academic research items were ranked as least important. Survey respondents identified many fellowship website items as important factors when applying to programs. Many of these items were not listed on fellowship websites, suggesting that adding these criteria to fellowship sites might benefit applicants. Our findings can be used to develop standardized criteria for important components of sports medicine fellowship websites to improve the application and recruitment process.

The Emotion Beliefs Questionnaire: Psychometric properties, norms, and links to affective outcomes

BackgroundThe Emotion Beliefs Questionnaire was recently developed to measure beliefs about the controllability and usefulness of negative and positive emotions. These are beliefs that have been theorised to be influential for emotion regulation and psychological outcomes. However, to date there are few studies utilising large, representative samples to examine the EBQ's psychometric properties and affective correlates. Our aim was to fill this gap by examining the EBQ's psychometric properties and exploring associations between emotion beliefs, emotion regulation, and affective disorder symptoms. MethodsA sample of 1175 adults recruited from the general population in the United States completed measures of emotion beliefs, emotion regulation, and affective disorder symptoms. ResultsConfirmatory factor analyses supported the EBQ's intended subscale structure, where controllability and usefulness beliefs were separated by valence. This structure was invariant across gender, age, and education categories. The EBQ correlated in expected ways with other measures, demonstrating good validity, and had good to excellent levels of internal consistency reliability. LimitationsThis study used a non-clinical sample that was predominantly White. Future work should utilise clinical and cross-cultural samples to maximise generalisability of findings. ConclusionsOur findings indicate that the EBQ is a psychometrically sound tool for measuring the multidimensional emotion belief construct. The EBQ may have clinical utility in the conceptualisation, assessment, and treatment of maladaptive emotion beliefs. Furthermore, our results highlight the importance of considering the potential influence of maladaptive emotion beliefs in emotion dysregulation and affective disorder symptoms.

Scrolling for Answers About Breast Implant Illness: Application of Validated Tools to Assess the Quality of Content on YouTube and TikTok.

Introduction: Popular video-sharing platforms YouTube and TikTok offer a plethora of information on the topic of breast implant illness (BII). As a largely patient-driven phenomenon, it is important to understand the influence of social media on patient knowledge regarding BII. This study sought to evaluate the quality, reliability, visibility, and popularity of YouTube and TikTok videos about BII. Methods: Two validated tools for health information, DISCERN and the Patient Education Materials Assessment Tool (PEMAT), were utilized to evaluate the quality of information regarding the topic of BII on YouTube and TikTok. High DISCERN score indicates content of superior quality and reliability, while elevated PEMAT scores signify content that is easily understandable and actionable for viewers. The search phrase "breast implant illness" was used to screen videos, which were sorted based on relevance and view count. The first 100 videos that fulfilled inclusion criteria were independently graded by three reviewers. Results: TikTok videos of longer duration, a higher number of shares, and in the patient education category were all significantly associated with a higher total DISCERN score (P < 0.05). YouTube videos that included a provider or a patient were significantly more likely to have a higher total DISCERN and PEMAT understandability score (all P < 0.05). Discussion of physician education, operation details, and patient experience was significantly associated with higher total DISCERN and PEMAT understandability scores (all P < 0.05). Conclusions: Total DISCERN and PEMAT scores for videos regarding BII on two popular social media platforms are low. Video length, patient experience categorization, and the presence of a provider are worth considering when developing high-quality online content for breast reconstruction and augmentation patients.

Православная педагогическая методология: отжившее прошлое или предстоящее будущее?

The article defines the concept of pedagogical methodology as the unity of the method of cognition and the subject of cognition and analyzes the main directions of the European pedagogical methodology: ancient, Christian, New European; their essence is shown through the comprehension of the most important pedagogical categories: education, the purpose of education, the concept of a person, the process of education, including the content and technologies of education. Through the analysis of the work of A.A. Ostapenko and K.V. Zelinsky proves that the content of the main pedagogical category – the category of education cannot be the content of some theological category, which the authors take the concept of repentance. The concept of salvation cannot be such a content either. Pedagogical categories should have pedagogical content. It also explains the idea that the basic pedagogical category cannot be the category of education, therefore, as such, it is necessary to use historically the first Russian pedagogical concept – the concept of education. Based on this attitude, it is shown what is the content of the main pedagogical categories in the Orthodox methodology. It is revealed that pedagogical categories in the system of Orthodox methodology explain a person and his upbringing more accurately than in other pedagogical methodologies (ancient and New European). And therefore it is proved that the Orthodox pedagogical methodology has not remained in the historical past, but it should become the main pedagogical methodology now and in the future.

Science mapping the knowledge base on microlearning: using Scopus database between 2002 and 2021

PurposeWith the advancement of technology, microlearning has emerged as a promising method to improve the efficacy of teaching and learning. This study aims to investigate the document types, volume, growth trajectory, geographic contribution, coauthor relationships, prominent authors, research groups, influential documents and publication outlets in the microlearning literature.Design/methodology/approachWe adapt the PRISMA guidelines to assess the eligibility of 297 Scopus-indexed documents from 2002 to 2021. Each was manually labeled by educational level. Descriptive statistics and science mapping were conducted to highlight relevant objects and their patterns in the knowledge base.FindingsThis study confirms the increasing trend of microlearning publications over the last two decades, with conference papers dominating the microlearning literature (178 documents, 59.86%). Despite global contributions, a concentrated effort from scholars in 15 countries (22.39%) yielded 68.8% of all documents, while the remaining papers were dispersed across 52 other nations (77.61%). Another significant finding is that most documents pertain to three educational level categories: lifelong learning, higher education and all educational levels. In addition, this research highlights six key themes in the microlearning domain, encompassing (1) Design and evaluation of mobile learning, (2) Microlearning adaptation in MOOCs, (3) Language teaching and learning, (4) Workflow of a microlearning system, (5) Microlearning content design, (6) Health competence and health behaviors. Other aspects analyzed in this study include the most prominent authors, research groups, documents and references.Originality/valueThe finding represents all topics at various educational levels to offer a comprehensive view of the knowledge base.

Sharing the Responsibility: Ministry of National Education’s Disaster Preparedness and Response to Kahramanmaraş Earthquake

Disaster-resilient communities develop effective preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation strategies. Following the experience of earthquakes on February 6, the Turkish community has been questioning its resilience. This paper examined the Ministry of National Education’s five-year preparedness strategies before the earthquake and its response to the February 6 earthquakes in Turkiye. The findings revealed that the Ministry made efforts to raise awareness among the community by developing training programs and securing schools by strengthening or rebuilding facilities. The ministry’s disaster response actions were classified into five categories: education, first aid and healthcare, food and water management, search and rescue, and shelter management. Our analysis suggested that the Ministry put crucial effort into disaster education, but more was needed to reach the entire school community. Furthermore, the Ministry responded promptly to the categories of food and water management, search and rescue, and shelter management from the first day, but not in its primary responsibility of education category.
