Role of Interpersonal Skills, Communication Capabilities and Information System on Learning Capabilities of Higher Educational Institutions in China: Mediating Role of Students’ Satisfaction

The growth of higher educational institutions much depends upon various factors among which interpersonal skills, communication capabilities and information system are prominent ones. The current study aimed to examine the impact of these factors viz., interpersonal skills, communication capabilities and information system, on the learning capabilities of higher educational institutions in China. The study also checks the mediating role of student satisfaction among these three constructs. The study gathered the data from final year students of higher educational institutions using surveys. The study also examines the data reliability along with association among variables using smart-PLS. The outcomes revealed that the interpersonal skills, communication capabilities and information system have a positive association with learning capabilities. The outcomes also exposed that student satisfaction significantly mediated among exogenous constructs of the study. The study findings would act as a guide to the policymakers regarding enhancing the learning capabilities by focusing on interpersonal skills, communication capabilities and information system.

Role of Communication Style, E learning Environment, and Student Satisfaction on Academic Performance: Moderating Role of Institutional Support

Several factors such as excessive usage of social media, quality of academic activities, family and social association, and a rapidly changing and challenging environment can negatively impact the academic performance of students. The present study aims to determine students’ academic performance in higher education institutions in China, considering the role of communication styles, e-learning environment, student satisfaction, and a moderating effect of institutional support in predicting students’ academic performance. Adopting a quantitative research design with sample random sampling technique, this study collected data through a validated questionnaire from a sample of 385 students from Chinese universities. Smart-PLS-4 was used for data analysis. The relationships between communication style and academic performance, e-learning and academic performance, and student satisfaction and academic performance were found to be significant. However, institutional support moderated the relationship between student satisfaction and academic performance, but no moderation effect was reported between communication style, e-learning, and academic performance. The Giant Leap in the Development of Higher Engineering Education in China

Purpose This study discusses the development of higher engineering education and its future direction following the increased enrollment in higher education institutions in China. Design/Approach/Methods By compiling and analyzing corresponding policies and historical and statistical data, the large-scale expansion process and quality enhancement pathways of China's higher engineering education are summarized. Additionally, probable future development scenarios are identified based on the current situation. Findings Ever since the expansion of higher education enrollment in China, higher engineering education has experienced rapid expansion in scale and quality, leading China toward becoming a prolific global leader in this aspect. Through a series of national engineering educational reforms, such as “Engineering Program Accreditation,” “Outstanding Engineer Plan,” and “New Engineering Construction,” China has sought to improve the quality of engineering talent to “transition from a large state to a powerful state” in higher engineering education. Therefore, this development process can be considered a “golden age” of higher engineering education development in China. Going forward, China's higher engineering education should focus on continuous quality improvement, strengthen international exchanges and collaboration, and expansion into new engineering fields. Originality/Value This study systematically analyzes the large-scale expansion and quality enhancement routes of China's higher engineering education. By enhancing the understanding of such education, this study can serve as a reference for domestic and foreign engineering education researchers.

The cultivation of the consciousness of the Chinese national community plays a crucial role in promoting ethnic unity and social harmony. As unique educational institutions in China, Corps universities bear the important mission of fostering ethnic unity and maintaining social stability. However, the current curriculum design in Corps universities shows deficiencies in integrating the consciousness of the Chinese national community. This paper aims to explore how Corps universities can strengthen the cultivation of this consciousness through optimizing curriculum strategies. By systematically analyzing course content, teaching methods, and evaluation mechanisms, the paper proposes strategies such as adding courses related to ethnic unity, deepening the integration of course content with the consciousness of the national community, innovating teaching methods, and improving evaluation mechanisms. Implementation steps and safeguard measures are also developed to enhance the overall educational effectiveness of curriculum design, thereby promoting the in-depth cultivation of the consciousness of the Chinese national community.

Exploring the factors of employee turnover intentions in private education institutions in China: a Delphi study

Impact of Employment Salary Level of Graduates from Higher Education Institutions in China

Based on the analysis of questionnaire survey data on college graduates, we constructed a multiple linear regression model using Matlab software to study the factors affecting the salary level of graduates, such as University rank and geographical locations, which provides a reference basis for the employment planning of college students. The results indicate that the nature of the university and the ranking of geographical regions have a significant impact on the salary level of college graduates. We utilize the proposed method to study typical two universities in China, demonstrating the effectiveness of our analysis. Finally, from the perspective of talent employment in universities, feasible and effective measures to improve the salary level of college graduates were discussed.

How does the use of modern technologies affect students’ perception of information? The effectiveness of holographic projection technology in music education

ABSTRACT The article studies the holographic projection technology in an innovative music classroom during full-time education. The study addresses the influence of this technology on the effectiveness and efficiency of learning, as well as on the perception and memorisation of educational material by students. It describes an innovative music classroom with equipment for using a 3D Hologram (3DH) for face-to-face lectures. An educational experiment was conducted within a three-month course. The experiment enrolled 111 foreign students in the first year of studying at higher educational institutions in China. The evaluation of the emotional background of the learning environment in the innovative music classroom indicates a positive attitude of students towards educational activities. The activities aroused their interest, admiration and trust; the environment was friendly and joyful. The findings can facilitate the search for innovative solutions to improve pedagogical activity or foster the introduction of holographic innovations into teaching practice.

The Impact of Augmented Reality on Motor Skills in Piano Education: Improving the Left-Hand Technique with AR Piano

This study investigates the impact of augmented reality (AR) technologies on the development of motor skills, specifically left-hand piano playing skills, among piano students. The paper employed the AR Piano application, which generates three-dimensional, intuitively understandable visualizations aimed at facilitating the piano learning process, thereby minimizing the cognitive load on students. The Piano Proficiency Test-2 was used to analyze piano playing skills. The sample consisted of 297 right-handed third-year students from three educational institutions in China. According to the post-test results, the experimental group, which underwent training utilizing augmented reality (AR) technology, exhibited significantly greater skill level improvement following the experimental period compared to the control group. These findings suggest a positive effect of AR technology application on the development of motor skills and may provide valuable insights to researchers exploring the application of AR technologies in diverse educational settings, particularly for musical instrument instruction.

Emotional journeys: the pathways of African students to a Chinese higher education institution and performances of ‘emotion work’

ABSTRACT This article examines the emotional aspects of international student mobility (ISM) from African countries to a higher education institution in China. While there is increasing scholarly attention to the role of emotional experiences in ISM, most of this work has focused on Western destinations with a long history of education mobilities. Information on newly emerged, non-Western ISM destinations is comparatively limited. Drawing on ethnographic research of 15 months at a Chinese university, this article shows how emotions shape and re-shape pre-arrival aspirations, daily interactions, and post-graduation plans among students from African countries. Specifically, the study shows that many students confront emotional dissonance and perform diverse forms of ‘emotion work’ in attempts to find a sense of familiarity and belonging while studying abroad. This is significant as it speaks to students’ agentive subjectivity in contending with emotional challenges and navigating complex ‘emoscapes’. The paper argues that a focus on emotions contributes to a more nuanced, multifaceted understanding of contemporary educational mobilities. It illuminates how students’ multiple emotions are continuously articulated and circulated with and within these ISM flows apparently driven by economic forces in the global higher education market.

The Models of Indonesian Students to Study in Higher Education Institutions in China

Leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) in English as a foreign language (EFL) classes: Challenges and opportunities in the spotlight

The widespread use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in language education contexts has motivated several scholars around the world to uncover the advantages and disadvantages of AI and AI-powered instruments in different language classrooms. Yet, as the review of earlier investigations revealed, few inquiries have been carried out to divulge the pros and cons of leveraging AI in EFL classes. To narrow this gap, using the phenomenological approach, this inquiry investigated the opportunities and challenges of implementing AI in EFL classes from the perspective of Chinese EFL students. To do so, through the criterion sampling technique, a total of 45 EFL students was recruited from different educational institutions in China. To collect the dataset, participants were asked to complete an open-ended questionnaire. For the sake of triangulation, among the 45 participants, 15 were randomly selected to engage in a follow-up interview session. With the aid of MAXQDA software (version 2023), participants’ perceptions of AI opportunities and challenges were carefully analyzed. Overall, the analysis findings uncovered that leveraging AI in EFL classes can bring numerous opportunities for EFL students, including individualized learning, timely and immediate feedback, rich educational resources, and an interactive learning atmosphere. However, as demonstrated by the analysis outcomes, implementing AI in EFL courses may also face students with a range of challenges and problems. The research outcomes would be of great help to teachers and educational leaders in mitigating the challenges of leveraging AI in language classrooms.

Exploring entrepreneurial intention: The roles of proactive personality, education, opportunity and Planned Behavior

Entrepreneurial intention is crucial in fostering an entrepreneurial culture and driving economic growth, especially among students from higher education institutions. Our study aims to examine the role of the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB), specifically attitude towards entrepreneurship (ATE) and perceived behavioral control (PBC), in the relationships between proactive personality (PP), entrepreneurship education (EE), entrepreneurial opportunity (EO), and entrepreneurial intention (EI) among final-year students higher education institutions in China. The TPB framework provides a theoretical foundation to investigate how psychological factors, such as ATE and PBC, mediate an individual's intention to engage in entrepreneurial behavior. The research model was analyzed using PLS-SEM. The findings, derived from a sample of 250 final-year students from public universities in China, indicate that ATE and PBC mediate the relationships between PP, EO, and EI. However, only ATE was found to mediate the relationship between EE and EI. Our findings offer insights into the foundational mechanisms driving EI, significantly advancing the scholarly understanding of entrepreneurial behavior. By demonstrating the applicability of the TPB framework, our study sheds light on the psychological processes that underlie the connections between PP, EE, EO and EI.

The logical Path and Stage Tasks For The Construction of a Three-level Grading Evaluation System for Professional Construction: "Standard, Quality, and Excellence"

Currently, there are only a few vocational colleges in China that carry out professional grading evaluation. Therefore, for the introduction and reference of undergraduate college professional grading evaluation in the field of higher vocational education, analyzing the positive significance of conducting professional grading evaluation in the field of higher vocational education and providing cases of establishing professional grading evaluation can help promote the level of professional construction in vocational colleges. This article suggests that based on a comparative analysis of the current status and existing problems of the application of professional grading evaluation in internal and external higher education institutions in China, we should analyze the data collection requirements and system functional requirements of professional grading evaluation, develop a professional construction quality evaluation platform, and provide intelligent solutions for standardizing the evaluation operations of higher vocational education majors. A series of operable, executable, and referenceable grading evaluation documents should be constructed to ensure the smooth and effective implementation of professional grading evaluation work, improve the level of professional construction, and lay a solid foundation for the high-quality development of schools.

Leadership Dimension Factors Among University Administrators Affecting Instructors' Job Satisfaction in a Technology University in China

This study explores leadership dimensions among university administrators and their impact on instructors' job satisfaction in a Chinese technology university, specifically Hubei University of Technology. Against the backdrop of China's rapid growth in higher education and challenges unique to technology-focused institutions, the research investigates the role of leadership in shaping the academic environment. Employing a quantitative research approach, a cross-sectional survey design with 340 respondents was used, along with a comprehensive questionnaire based on the Transformational Leadership Theory. Positive trends in job satisfaction, especially in Teaching and Research Opportunities, Work Environment, and Leadership Support, are revealed. Transformational leadership factors, including idealized influence, inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation, and individualized consideration, show strong positive correlations with job satisfaction. Despite commendable overall satisfaction levels, attention is needed to address concerns raised by a minority of instructors reporting significant dissatisfaction. The findings contribute insights into effective leadership practices within Chinese technology universities, offering actionable recommendations for administrators, policymakers, and academic leaders. The study concludes by outlining implications for enhancing leadership practices, fostering instructor satisfaction, and promoting the success of technology-focused educational institutions in China and beyond.

The Mediating Effect of Human Capital on Teaching Quality and Employment Quality of Migrant Workers in Vocational Education Institutions in China

This study employs a mixed-method approach, utilizing mediation analysis techniques, a Likert scale questionnaire, and interviews to comprehensively assess employment quality, teaching quality, and human capital. Statistical analysis software was used for data processing, including descriptive statistics and regression analysis. The findings highlight the mediating role of human capital in the relationship between teaching quality and employment quality. Recommendations include vocational education institutions focusing on migrant workers’ career development, enhancing satisfaction with education and teaching, and innovating teaching methods to adapt curricula. Strengthening teacher training and resources, establishing a diverse teaching quality assurance system, and aligning teaching practices with employment needs are proposed strategies to improve overall teaching and learning quality for better employment outcomes. Prioritizing teaching quality enhancements, human capital development, and refining employment services can collectively elevate employment standards for migrant workers, fostering social cohesion and economic progress.

Intelligent Data Integration: A Case Study of NOVOI in a Higher Education Institution in China

Massive data of different sectors inheres in different sites, which requires integration of those data in various types and formats when dealing with system development and integration of an organization. Intelligent data integration is crucial for system development and management to enhance the effective governance of organizations at all levels. It alleviates the lagging service and meets users' needs in higher educational institutions (HEIs). From the holistic perspective, the “No More than One Visit for One Item” (NOVOI) is a paradigm emphasizing the integration of system information, which is utilized in integrated services all in one, namely, the synergy and collaboration of all offices in an HEI. By a case study of the status quo of NONOI in an HEI in China, the NOVOI framework was constructed and its outcomes were analyzed by a comparison of data in past years. It’s found that users of NOVOI vary among different service items. The most frequently used service items are academic-related, instead of teaching affairs or administrative affairs. Service items for faculty and staff have more nodes than those for students. As a result, NOVOI can improve the efficiency of the service, enhance the overall management level, promote information disclosure in HEIs, and help the HEI system develop towards diversification of services and improve a more efficient informatization process through intelligent and effective data integration.

Individual motivation and knowledge sharing: the hindering effect of perceived costs in higher education

ABSTRACT Knowledge sharing among academic staff allows universities to foster innovation and achieve competitiveness in the higher education industry. Based on the Theory of Planned Behavior, this study developed an integrated model to investigate the impact of individual motivation on academics’ attitudes and intentions to share knowledge, incorporating both perceived costs (loss of knowledge power, time and effort) as well as benefits (expected association, enjoyment in helping others) associated with knowledge sharing. Data was collected from 532 faculty staff in higher education institutions in China through an online questionnaire and analyzed using partial least squares structural equation modeling. The findings indicated that loss of knowledge power as well as time and effort negatively impacted academics’ attitudes toward knowledge sharing while expected association and enjoyment in helping others positively impacted attitudes. Additionally, attitudes significantly contribute to enhancing academics’ intentions to share knowledge. The study contributes to the extant literature by highlighting the hindering role of perceived costs in developing positive attitudes toward knowledge sharing which have not been empirically verified in previous studies. In addition, the study provided recommendations on how knowledge sharing can be encouraged among academics by minimizing costs while maximizing benefits associated with knowledge sharing.

The Vicious Cycle between Loneliness and Problematic Smartphone Use among Adolescents: A Random Intercept Cross-Lagged Panel Model.

Despite extensive research on the psychological impacts of digital technology, the nuanced dynamics between adolescent loneliness and problematic smartphone use, particularly across different educational levels and genders, remain underexplored. This study aims to fill this gap by employing a Random Intercept Cross-Lagged Panel Model to dissect the bidirectional relationship between loneliness and problematic smartphone use among adolescents, with a focus on the moderating roles of educational levels and gender. Engaging 3132 students from various educational institutions in China, the research conducted a three-wave longitudinal analysis across 2022-2023. The final number of participants included 1120 adolescents (53.5% female; age in 2022: M = 14.57 years, SD = 1.57). Results reveal that loneliness significantly predicts problematic smartphone use, but not vice versa, highlighting a unidirectional influence. The study uncovers crucial differences across educational levels and gender, emphasizing the stronger effect of loneliness on problematic smartphone use among junior high students and female adolescents. These findings underscore the complexity of adolescent loneliness and its relationship with digital behavior, suggesting a need for tailored interventions considering both gender and developmental stages.

THE COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF PRACTICES OF SOCIO-ARTISTIC EDUCATION AT PEDAGOGICAL UNIVERSITIES OF RUSSIA AND CHINA

This scientific article is devoted to a comparative analysis of pedagogical higher educational institutions in China and Russia in the field of art education and social practice. The main purpose of the study is to identify similarities and differences between the educational systems of the two countries, their approaches to teaching contemporary art, as well as interaction with the artistic community and the social environment. The article provides an overview of the existing research in the field of socio-artistic education at pedagogical universities in Russia and China. The key aspects and practices are analysed, such as the organisation of the educational process, inclusion of students in art projects and practices, interaction with the local art community and social organisations. The results of the study help to identify similarities and differences in the approaches to socio-artistic education in educational institutions in Russia and China. The author discusses the advantages and disadvantages of each system and gives recommendations for improving the practice of socio-artistic education in pedagogical higher educational institutions of both countries. The research is of interest to educators, scientists and specialists in the field of art education, as well as those who are interested in comparative analysis of educational practices of art in different countries. The results of the work can be used to develop training programmes and improve the quality of socio-artistic education at pedagogical universities.
