The Role of Education Reform in the Great Economic Development of Vietnam

Vietnam established an effective education reform in order to improve the economic circumstance and help the country follow the globalization trend. This paper explains that education reform can boost the development of economy in a wide range which can be expressed by increasing labour quality and productivity, long-term economic prosperity, etc. Education also plays an important role in government spending which can lead to the increase in aggregate demand. This paper finds that the expenditure in education has a positive relationship to the economic growth of Vietnam. The paper draws on these findings to argue that the government of Vietnam are supposed to keep injecting funds into the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education. Furthermore, the government has the duty to strengthen partnerships between educational institutions and industries and enhance access to education. These alternative policies can be beneficial to Vietnam in solving the economic problems, so this paper suggests Vietnam to keep investing in education, aiming to further stimulate economic development.

Research on Chinas Green Economic Policies and Sustainable Growth in the Digital Economy

China's rapid economic growth over the past four decades has come at a significant environmental cost, prompting the need for a shift toward sustainable development. This essay explores the integration of China's green economic policies with the digital economy as a pathway to achieving sustainable growth. By examining the historical context of China's environmental policies, the role of digital technologies in enhancing energy efficiency, and the challenges and opportunities in this transition, the essay argues that China's model offers valuable insights fo r other nations seeking to balance economic prosperity with environmental sustainability. Key policies such as carbon trading, renewable energy investments, and circular economy practices are analyzed, alongside the role of digital technologies like AI, IoT, and big data in optimizing resource use and reducing emissions. Despite challenges such as economic disparities, technological barriers, and policy enforcement gaps, China's innovative approach provides a promising blueprint for global sustainable development. The essay concludes that international cooperation, continued innovation, and scaling of green technologies are essential for realizing the full potential of China's green and digital economy.

Agro-Ecotourism as a Model for Rural Development in the Mountains Region: Amedy Region as Case Study

Objective: This study aims to examine the determinants and indicators of Amedy's region competitiveness to identify the optimal model for rural development via tourism. Theoretical Framework: Rural tourism has emerged as a controversial topic within rural development. The combination of the decline of agriculture, the rise of tourism, and the need for economic diversification necessitates the creation of a new rural development model that ensures both economic diversification and environmental conservation. Method: Qualitative data was acquired from a local perspective through semi-structured interviews based on saturation theory. Thematic analysis was performed on interview transcriptions from 81 rural inhabitants to identify key themes Results and Discussion: The results confirmed that Agro-ecotourism is the best model of rural tourism devlopmnet in mountain region. The growth in local agricultural sales and increased tourist numbers are markers of economic prosperity. The region's agricultural goods and natural resources are key factors influencing rural competitiveness; nevertheless, climate change, conflicts over water and land, and poor governance have negatively affected their management. The interplay between security and accessibility obstructs rural tourism development. The study revealed direct and indirect relationships between the variables, suggesting that inadequacies in one area impact the others. Research Implications: Rural areas with similar environmental, economic, and cultural challenges can utilize the findings as an integrative model for preserving agricultural identity and natural resources. Originality/Value: The model is novel and has not been previously observed in Iraq and Kurdistan.

Harnessing Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Blockchain Technology for the Advancement of Finance Technology (FinTech) in Businesses

This brief investigation seeks to explore the significant impact and offer a thorough analysis of the transformative potential of artificial intelligence (AI) and blockchain technology in revolutionizing financial technologies (FinTech) within the context of African business environments. Central to this study is an examination of how AI-driven solutions and blockchain technology can improve efficiency, accessibility, and innovation in financial services. Currently, African businesses face numerous challenges that hinder their overall success. Among these are the prevalence of fraud in Africa’s economy and the absence of credit scoring and reliable risk management, leading to bad debts and poor capital management. The businesses also lack data infrastructure, regulatory compliances, customer engagement and personalisation data privacy, cybersecurity and volatile currencies. Through intensive evaluation, we will be venturing into and showcasing how applications of AI and blockchain technology address these hurdles via techniques involving fraud detection, risk mitigation, advanced credit assessments and scoring for underserved communities, loan origination systems, and automated customer support utilising tools like chatbots, bolstered market analytics, streamlined regulation conformance, and augmented financial inclusivity encompassing digital payment platforms, saving mechanisms, loans, investments, and insurance products. By leveraging AI, African businesses can propel FinTech innovation and progression, foster economic prosperity, and drive sustainable development. The paper comprehensively analyses the current state of AI-driven FinTech solutions in Africa, identifying key factors that can unlock a new era of financial innovation, potential challenges businesses may face in implementing these technologies and our comprehensive research on their solutions.

Moral Foundations of Peace-building Initiatives: A Philosophical Approach to the Search for Sustainable Peace in Africa

Peace-building initiatives in Africa are deliberate political measures aimed at securing and restoring lasting and sustainable peace in the continent and beyond. Peace, in a more loose sense, is ordinarily interpreted to mean the absence of war or conflict of any kind. States and governments have political obligations to ensure that their citizens are secure and enjoy peace at all times. The critical question is whether peace can be imposed on the people, i.e., from external forces. That notwithstanding, peace must be understood in a twofold sense. First, it refers to peace of the individual that is necessitated by the harmony between the two faculties of the mind, the intellect and the will. Second, the term “peace” refers to harmonious co-existence in society, without war or conflict of any kind; and this underscores the fact that man is a social being, a being with others. In the former sense, one is at peace with oneself when they conduct themselves in accordance to the dictates of reason whereas, in the latter sense, one is (said to be) at peace if they are not in conflict with others. It is in this latter sense that we are making a reflection of the peace initiatives in Africa, given that Africa is characterised by conflicts among countries or tribes within a country. This paper is an attempt to interrogate peace at the level of the individual and peace at the level of the community vis-à-vis tribes and nations in view of finding a solution to the problem of political instability in Africa, which in turn jeopardizes economic prosperity in a continent blessed with enormous resources. The paper argues that acting in respect of the moral law, the only law of humanity, and from which all other laws ensue, is the only way peace among individuals, tribes and nations shall prevail since this entails duties and obligations for every individual; a situation where the inner self is congruent with the outer self

Solidarity and Development: The OECD Technical Cooperation Committee in the Cold War

Since the first “development decade,” the OECD has played a key role in coordinating aid from Western countries to the Global South. Before that first decade, however, wide gaps in development separated its own member countries. Within it, therefore, a Technical Cooperation Committee (TECO) operated to provide knowledge and expertise to “intermediate development” Mediterranean countries. TECO, through a network of experts, concentrated and disseminated data, ideas, and economic policy practices to promote the “modernization” of countries not fully integrated into the international economic system and ruled by dictatorial or otherwise undemocratic regimes. On the one hand, the program concretized intra-European solidarity to spread economic development and prosperity; on the other hand, it allowed a close look at the reality of those countries. Then, beginning in the 1970s, reflecting the change in the prevailing economic culture, TECO incubated the guiding lines for the global public administration reform. This study reconstructs the history of TECO through documentation preserved in the OECD archives in Paris.

Unravelling the moderating roles of environmental regulations on the impact of foreign direct investment on environmental sustainability.

In the era of economic globalization, China attracts significant foreign direct investment (FDI) to accelerate economic prosperity. FDI inflows could have ramifications on environmental degradation (ED) despite the enactment of different environmental regulations (ERs) such as market-incentive, command-and-control as well as informal regulations. Though some studies have shown that FDI and ED have significant relationship, the moderating roles of different ERs on the environmental impact of FDI has not been empirically unraveled. This study fills this research gap by analyzing the direct impact of FDI on ED (i.e., carbon dioxide emissions, ecological footprint) using the provincial panel data. Second, it unravels the moderating roles of different ERs on the environmental impact of FDI in the provinces and regions. The results indicate that FDI directly mitigates ED, verifying the pollution halo hypothesis while ERs directly alleviate ED in China. However, the interaction between FDI and ERs do not alleviate ED in China albeit regional heterogeneity exist. The economic implication is that FDI is not a channel through which ERs enhance environmental sustainability in China. This study recommends some policy options arising from the findings.

Fuel Subsidy Imbroglio and Economic Prosperity of Nigeria: A Dynamic Auto Regressive Distributed Lag (DARDL) Approach

This study evaluates the impact of fuel subsidy imbroglio on Nigeria's economic prosperity, covering the period from 1986 to 2022. In investigating the effect of oil subsidy on the economic prosperity of Nigeria, it uses RGDP as the regressed while the regressors are Subsidy Payment (SY). Additionally, Oil rent (RO), Exchange Rate (ER) and institutional variables such as Political stability (PS) and Control of Corruption (CO) served as control variables. To mediate the effect of subsidy, the institution of regulation was applied to moderate the nexus between subsidy payment and economic prosperity in Nigeria (SY*RQ). Data were obtained from secondary sources such as The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Statistical Bulletin, the World Bank Development Index (WDI) and United States Energy Information Administration (USEIA). The dynamic autoregressive distributed lag (DARDL) model estimator tool was deployed for data analysis. The short-run result shows the magnitude of change in economic prosperity orchestrated by political stability. Also, corruption control was effective in the short run and encouraged economic prosperity. At the same time, oil subsidies harmed the country's economic prosperity; as the short-run coefficient implied, the effort to control subsidies directly using the institution of regulation (RQ) failed. Further, the normalized ARDL long-run test shows that the payment of oil subsidies has a minimal impact on economic prosperity in Nigeria. Similarly, when oil subsidy payment is subjected to regulations, its impact is still minimal. Notwithstanding, PS and LEX significantly promote economic prosperity in Nigeria. Based on the findings, the study recommends and supports the removal of fuel subsidies and that the proceeds should be re-invested in providing critical amenities and infrastructure to grow the Nigerian economy.

It identifies various effective strategies that could be adopted to enhance the position of Thailand within the global MICE market. This includes strategies related to increased collaboration between the government and private sectors in substantial investment in infrastructure, and a focus on promoting and implementing sustainability throughout the industry. In all, this meta-research study sends across that the MICE industry plays an important role in knowledge exchange, economic growth, and global connectivity. Thus, it creates a sense of optimism and exuberance from the comprehensive outlook toward the future potential of the MICE industry in Thailand and continued growth and success within this vibrant and diverse nation.

The secrets to high-level green technology innovation of China's waste power battery recycling enterprises.

Green technology innovation (GTI) in China's waste power battery recycling (WPBR) sector is a key driver for sustainable resource management, environmental protection, and economic prosperity. Using the PSR-BN-GPT-4 model and multi-source data, this study explores China's WPBRenterprises' high-level GTI mechanism. The research concludes that (1) Compared to traditional expert knowledge, the Bayesian network model based on GPT-4 exhibits superior causal reasoning capability. (2) The current level of GTI in China's WPBR industry is relatively low, with the probability of high-level GTI being only 19%. (3) Key factors identified include incentives like R&D investment, bottlenecks such as green finance policy tools, and hindrances like government procurement policy tools. (4) "Supporting Infrastructure Policy Tools - Recycling Outlets Number - Market Potential -Green Technology Innovation" and "Green Finance Policy Tools - R&D Investment - Green Technology Innovation" are two critical paths for enhancing the high-level development of GTI in WPBR enterprises. The study offers valuable insights for governmental, industrial, and corporate decision-making regarding GTI in battery recycling.

The potential for urban agriculture (UA) in Cape Town, South Africa: a suitability analysis

ABSTRACT Urban agriculture plays a pivotal role in enhancing human well-being by contributing to food security, economic prosperity, and environmental sustainability. Despite its significance, many cities lack accurate inventories to identify suitable sites for such initiatives. This study examines the potential for urban agriculture in Cape Town using Multi-Criteria Decision Making techniques. Factors such as temperature, soil fertility, road accessibility, and precipitation were analysed using weighted overlay to determine the agricultural potential in Cape Town. Utilizing methodologies like the Analytic Hierarchy Process and Weighted Linear Combination, the agricultural potential was established. Findings indicate that there are highly suitable areas for agriculture whose potential has not yet been fully exploited. Currently, agricultural activities like vineyards, crop production, and cattle farming, though situated on good agricultural land, are not as prominent despite the availability of vast tracts of highly suitable land. Therefore, there is a need to raise awareness and promote urban agriculture to alleviate poverty-related food insecurities. The implementation of urban agriculture is anticipated to significantly improve food security, create economic opportunities, and enhance environmental sustainability within urban areas. The study recommends the need for longitudinal studies to gather essential information for informed decision-making, ensuring the sustainability of urban agriculture initiatives.

Research on design intervention in spatial planning of traditional rural tourism: based on the perspective of tourists’ willingness to visit again

ABSTRACT Studying tourists’ revisit intention to tourism-oriented traditional villages helps understand the development trajectory of these villages and provides scientific support for their protection and renewal. This study, using LDA topic modeling, structural equation modeling (SEM), and fuzzy-set qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA), systematically explores the key factors influencing tourists’ revisit intentions to traditional Chinese villages and the underlying mechanisms. Through in-depth analysis, the research reveals the significant impact of the overall layout, spatial form, street pattern, planar structure, local decoration, and building materials of traditional villages on tourists’ revisit intentions, while also emphasizing the importance of visitor satisfaction. Based on the data results, a series of strategies are proposed to optimize village appearance and enrich traditional decorations, aiming to promote deeper interaction between visitors and traditional villages, enhance tourists’ cultural experiences and satisfaction, and thereby effectively increase their intention to revisit tourism-oriented traditional villages. The findings provide practical recommendations for policymakers and village managers, helping them promote the sustainable development of traditional villages while preserving cultural heritage. Through scientific management and marketing strategies, traditional villages can not only enhance their competitiveness but also secure a place in the global tourism market, achieving both economic and cultural prosperity.

Revisiting Environmental Kuznets Curve (EKC) and Renewable Energy Consumption in India

The relationship between renewable energy consumption, economic growth, and environmental sustainability has been extensively studied, particularly in the context of the Environmental Kuznets Curve (EKC) hypothesis. The EKC posits an inverted U-shaped relationship between economic growth and environmental degradation, where pollution initially rises with income levels and subsequently declines after reaching a certain income threshold. One of the most important issues in a current era is striking a balance between environmental sustainability and economic prosperity. Considering the said background, this study aims to find out the growth rate of renewable energy consumption per-capita, Gross domestic product per-capita and CO2 emission per-capita. Side by side, it is also trying to revisit the existence of Environmental Kuznets Curve in India and how renewable energy consumption per-capita is affected by Gross domestic product per-capita and CO2 emission per-capita. All the data has been collected from World Development Indicator (WDI), World Bank for the period 1990-2020 using a multiple regression analysis. The result suggests that the growth rate of renewable energy consumption per-capita, Gross domestic product per-capita and CO2 emission per-capita is fluctuating in nature. In case of India, Environmental Kuznets Curve (EKC) still exists and Gross domestic product per-capita is affecting renewable energy consumption positively and CO2 emission per-capita negatively.

The research also highlights the interconnectedness of leadership development, organizational growth and economic success, emphasizing the critical role of work-based learning in driving positive outcomes in all these dimensions. Contemporary approaches to science and engineering pedagogy: A perspective from Nigerian engineering education

Ensuring access to quality education and career training is a crucial challenge, especially in developing nations. Vocational, scientific, technological, and engineering education are essential for active participation in any community and play a significant role in shaping life perspectives. The ability to sustain competitiveness depends on receiving high-quality vocational, scientific, technological, or engineering education and professional growth. These factors are vital for the long-term growth of prosperous economies and nation-building. Hence, this perspective review attempts to provide information on some contemporary pedagogies in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) and science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) vis-à-vis scientific and engineering education in Nigeria. The study zooms into the challenges and possible solutions that will promote and enhance pedagogies in scientific and engineering education in Nigeria. The study adopted a perspective review approach in overviewing prior accessible studies (literatures) as well as a methodological framework. It is believed that this perspective review study will serve as a way forward for other developing nations.

Impact of the war in Ukraine on the real estate market in Romania: Analysis in geopolitical context

The war in Ukraine has caused profound transformations in the dynamics of the Romanian real estate market, reflecting the impact of a complex combination of economic and financial, demographic and socio-cultural, as well as political and legal factors. In this context, the objective of the study is to analyze the impact of the war in Ukraine on the real estate market in Romania by assessing the influence of determinants to identify measures to support the stability and development of the real estate market within geopolitical crises. Subsequently, based on statistical analysis methods, the econometric model was developed considering as dependent variables the real estate market (measured by average price for housing) and independent variables – the number of Ukrainian migrants, interest rate on mortgage loans, GDP per capita, and inflation rate. The research results reveal that Ukrainian migration has a significant positive impact on the real estate market, leading to price increases for housing in urban areas and increased demand for rental housing. In addition, mortgage interest rates show a significant negative impact, suggesting that lower affordability of financing limits purchases of real estate. Moreover, GDP growth per capita is positively correlated with price dynamics in the real estate market, confirming that a prosperous economy stimulates investments in real estate. Findings provide valuable insights into understanding how geopolitical and economic factors interact to influence the real estate market.

Risk Assessment in Mass Housing Projects Using the Integrated Method of Fuzzy Shannon Entropy and Fuzzy EDAS

Mass building projects play a key role in the economic prosperity of any country. Furthermore, these projects are among the main drivers of environmental and social problems. In recent years, with the spread of the concept of sustainable development in the life cycle of construction projects and the dynamic and eventful nature of these projects, the issue of risk management in the sustainable construction industry has received more and more attention among researchers. The construction industry, like other industries, faces various risks. Therefore, it is crucial to identify and evaluate risks in mass construction projects due to the high volume of work. In this study, an integrated model based on fuzzy Shannon entropy and fuzzy EDAS is proposed for risk assessment in large-scale building projects. Initially, by reviewing related articles, 66 effective sub-indicators are identified and classified into 18 risk categories, including 6 external risks and 12 internal risks. Subsequently, a questionnaire is designed to assess the three factors of detection, probability of occurrence, and severity risks for each risk index. This questionnaire distributes to 15 mass production companies in the construction field in Isfahan. The fuzzy Shannon entropy method is then applied to determine the weight of risk factors. The weights of each factor, detection, probability of occurrence, and severity, are calculated as 0.386, 0.342, and 0.273, respectively. These weights are used in the fuzzy EDAS method to prioritize the identified risks in mass-building projects. The results of the fuzzy EDAS method determined the three most critical risks: “inflation rate volatility”, “import/export restrictions”, and “unforeseen climatic conditions”. Additionally, three low-risk sub-indicators are obtained: “limitation on working hours”, “collapse of the structure”, and “unpredictable fire”.

How Escaping the Middle-Income Trap: Key Factors for Indonesia's Growth?

This study investigates the complex interplay between human development index, foreign direct investment, and investment efficiency in driving economic growth. Utilized time-series data during 2000 to 2022, sourced from the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank. Employing the ARDL model. The findings reveal a strong positive correlation between HDI and economic growth, highlighting the critical role of investments in education, health, and social welfare. While FDI significantly contributes to economic growth through technology transfer and productivity enhancement, the study surprisingly finds limited evidence of a direct link between investment efficiency and economic growth. This suggests that factors such as institutional quality and innovation play a more dominant role. These findings have crucial implications for Indonesia, which faces the challenge of escaping the middle-income trap. Prioritizing human development, attracting high-quality FDI, and fostering a conducive investment climate through institutional reforms are crucial for sustainable and inclusive growth. By investing in human capital, promoting technological innovation, and effectively leveraging FDI, Indonesia can overcome the middle-income trap and achieve long-term economic prosperity.

A Channel Attention-Driven Optimized CNN for Efficient Early Detection of Plant Diseases in Resource Constrained Environment

Agriculture is a cornerstone of economic prosperity, but plant diseases can severely impact crop yield and quality. Identifying these diseases accurately is often difficult due to limited expert availability and ambiguous information. Early detection and automated diagnosis systems are crucial to mitigate these challenges. To address this, we propose a lightweight convolutional neural network (CNN) designed for resource-constrained devices termed as LeafNet. LeafNet draws inspiration from the block-wise VGG19 architecture but incorporates several optimizations, including a reduced number of parameters, smaller input size, and faster inference time while maintaining competitive accuracy. The proposed LeafNet leverages small, uniform convolutional filters to capture fine-grained details of plant disease features, with an increasing number of channels to enhance feature extraction. Additionally, it integrates channel attention mechanisms to prioritize disease-related features effectively. We evaluated the proposed method on four datasets: the benchmark plant village (PV), the data repository of leaf images (DRLIs), the newly curated plant composite (PC) dataset, and the BARI Sunflower (BARI-Sun) dataset, which includes diverse and challenging real-world images. The results show that the proposed performs comparably to state-of-the-art methods in terms of accuracy, false positive rate (FPR), model size, and runtime, highlighting its potential for real-world applications.
