ECOLOGICALLY-ORIENTED TEACHING OF ENGLISH TO STUDENTS OF PEDAGOGICAL SPECIALITIES

The relevance of the study in this paper is due to the problems of ecology in the modern world and the formation of ecological culture among the younger generation within the framework of the educational process to introduce them the ecological values in their future professional activities to preserve and restore the ecosystem of the planet. The purpose of the study is to form a model for the didactic foundations of ecologically-oriented teaching of English to students of pedagogical specialities. The leading method for the study of this issue is the a survey using the M. Rokich test for diagnosing personal value orientations, which makes it possible to determine social values, psychological aspirations by identifying the existing self-tasks of the person under survey, features of his or her self-determination and self-regulation of behaviour within the framework of ecological culture. The study presents didactic foundations of ecologically-oriented teaching of English to students of pedagogical specialities with formation of value orientations including value-motivational, cognitive-informational and modeling of creative ecological-cognitive professional activity on the basis of which the level of ecological culture of students can be created. The formed didactic foundations model of ecologically-oriented teaching of English to students of pedagogical specialties enables to create ecological culture with value standards of careful attitude to the environment and all levels of nature, which will allow them to introduce it in the educational process in their future professional activity to educate students about high ecological culture and creative behavior concerning natural objects and the whole ecosystem of life in general, which has practical significance for the education system and well-being of society.

The debate - an opportunity for the formation of ecological culture in Biology and Health Education

Abstract The present study is part of a didactic experiment, which aims at establishing the application and effectiveness of the school debate, as an interactive method of teaching in Biology and Health Education in XII grade in order to form an environmental culture among students. The application of school debate as a part of interactive methods corresponding to the objectives of environmental education and upbringing of a selected methodological unit of the ‘Sustainable development - strategy for preserving life on Earth’ is presented, and options for its application in a specific stage of the macro structure of the lesson are proposed. The results of a questionnaire, conducted with students to explore their opinions on the application of the debate as a teaching method, are presented. The analysis of the results shows that students are motivated to actively engage in the process of learning Biology and Health Education, accept the debate as an interactive form of learning because they believe that it increases their environmental awareness and develops key skills such as, critical thinking; skills to support sustainable development; teamwork; making decisions on various environmental topics; improves the ability to analyze and evaluate the relationship between man-society-nature.

THE CONCEPT OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT AS THE BASIS OF CONTINUOUS ECOLOGICAL TRAINING OF FUTURE TEACHERS

Increasing attention to the ecological training of young people in the system of modern education is one of the important problems nowadays. Guarantees of environmental protection are presented in ecological knowledge, abilities and skills, as well as in the socio-cultural behavior and worldview of the population. Therefore, one of the priority tasks of the educational system is the formation of the ecological culture of the younger generation through the implementation of a system of continuous environmental education based on the principles of sustainable development. The purpose of the article is to investigate the problem of continuous ecological training of future teachers based on sustainable development. Research methods: analysis and synthesis of scientific literature (to clarify key research concepts), systematization, and generalization (for the purpose of forming the author's conclusions). It is established that ensuring the sustainable development of society involves positive life activities of people through the creation of conditions that contribute to the harmonization of their relationships, development, and satisfaction of their needs in the socio-natural environment, providing opportunities for the formation of ecological culture in the educational sphere. The peculiarities of continuous ecological training of future teachers based on the concept of sustainable development are studied, and the content and results of this process are highlighted. The goal of continuous ecological training for sustainable development is to teach people to manage the quality of life; the formation of an ecological culture in the young generation, which involves the ecological orientation of the individual, the ability to increase their ecological education and literacy, to carry out social-ecological and ecological-project activities for the benefit of sustainable development. The main tasks of continuous ecological training are the formation of scientific knowledge and ecologically oriented knowledge, the development of environmental protection skills and abilities aimed at improving the state of the environment and improving the quality of life of people, and the upbringing of a highly educated and ecologically cultural personality. Continuous ecological education for the benefit of sustainable development originates in preschool education institutions, where for the first time children master the basics of environmental education and culture, and form an idea of their unity with nature. The next stage is general secondary education, where students form environmental competence and develop an environmental outlook. The next level of the continuous ecological education system is the higher school, where the professional ecological training of the future teacher is carried out, the value-meaning sphere of the individual is formed, social-ecological norms of professional activity are mastered.

The State of Research on the Font Poster in Scientific Discourse

The purpose of the research. This article is a review and aims to examine the state of research on the problem of the modern font poster in the works of Ukrainian scholars. The research methods are based on the principles of historicism and general scientific generalisation, and include the use of source, art historical and comparative analysis. The scientific novelty of the study lies in the processed material introduction from the scientific research field into the scientific circulation of one of the important areas of graphic design – the font poster. It is proposed to consider the font poster as a means of communication with visualisation tools in the formation of ecological culture in the modern world. Conclusions. The process of researching the topic of the modern font poster in the scientific discourse allowed us to identify several thematic areas in the developments of scientists that should be considered in the context of a broader connection in the graphic practice of today, namely: 1) communicative and advertising properties of the poster; 2) font design as a special form of social consciousness expression; 3) the font poster contradictions and development. As a result of the study, we conclude that today there is a shortage of thorough fundamental research on the font poster. Despite the large number of scientific studies of various areas of graphic design, including poster graphics of the early twenty-first century, presented in Ukrainian historiography, only a small number of works deal with the design of font posters and their features. Also, the topic of the international font poster development is not fully reflected in scientific research. The situation is even more critical with the study of the modern font poster, which, apart from a few articles, has received little substantial attention in the Ukrainian research literature. A separate gap is the environmental font poster. Thus, the state of the font poster research reveals the need for a comprehensive study and determination of its modern specificity.

DEVELOPMENT OF ECOLOGICAL CULTURE IN FUTURE TEACHERS OF BIOLOGY AND ECOLOGY

This paper delves into the crucial role of ecological education in developing the ecological culture among future biology and ecology teachers. Given the pressing challenges of the ecological crisis, this study emphasizes the need for an educational paradigm that not only imparts environmental knowledge but also fosters a deep-seated value system and responsible behaviors towards the environment. The research identifies the core components of ecological culture, which include environmental knowledge, skills, values, and the ability to predict and mitigate the adverse impacts of human activities on nature. The methodology employs a blend of traditional and innovative educational techniques, incorporating discussions, observations, surveys, and the integration of environmental content across the curriculum. The study highlights the structured formation of ecological culture through a five-stage process, ranging from initial orientation to reflective evaluation. Each stage is designed to enhance students' engagement with environmental issues, cultivate a professional and personal commitment to environmental stewardship, and develop competencies that align with the normative documents of higher pedagogical education. The findings underscore the significance of integrating ecological education within the framework of higher education, demonstrating that a systematic approach can effectively cultivate future educators who are well-equipped to promote and embody ecological culture. This integration not only prepares educators to handle environmental challenges professionally but also encourages the adoption of sustainable practices in their personal lives and teaching careers. The paper concludes that establishing a robust ecological culture in educational settings is pivotal for fostering a generation of educators who are proactive in addressing and solving environmental issues.

Pedagogical requirements for developing a culture of environmental safety among students in the educational space of higher education institutions

Relevance Dynamic changes in social relations have a dramatic impact on the environment. This is evidenced by several factors revealing the detrimental impact of human, particularly professional, activities on the environment. The issue of relevance related to the development of ecological culture among young people is quite high today, both in scientific doctrine and among practitioners.Purpose. The research aims to analyze the approaches to the formation of environmental safety culture within higher education institutions.Methodology. To achieve it, a system of methodological tools was used, namely the method of analysis, synthesis, abstraction, comparison, deduction, and questioning.Results. As a result, it was possible to conclude an in-depth analysis of the "ecological culture" concept, to investigate its main properties expressed in the educational environment. It was possible to reveal different approaches to effective development and provision of ecological safety in the university. In addition, recommendations for integrating students' knowledge about environmental safety into their future professional activities have been formed. It has been proved that the process of ecological culture formation in students should be proportional and interconnected with the study of other disciplines. Due to such an approach, it is possible to develop both personal qualities of students concerning the environment and prepare them for future professional activity. Consequently, the formation of quality environmental security in the university is the key to enhancing the role of principles that relate to environmental protection and ecology in general.Conclusions. The practical value of the research is in the fact that the findings obtained therein can be effectively used by teachers and methodologists in the development or improvement of existing curricula in higher education institutions.

Ecological culture issues in the context of environmental education

The task of students’ ecological culture formation and finding effective ways to develop persons’ liable attitude to the ecological issues and eco-friendly processes is becoming more urgent in modern conditions. The article is aimed at ecopsychological study of person’s ecological culture components in the process of professional becoming. The research tasks are: to make a theoretical analysis of ecological culture issues in the context of environmental education; to conduct ecopsychological study of ecological culture components; to develop a methodological recommendations dealing with given problems. To evaluate the main components of ecological culture, the methodology for studying environmental consciousness was used, proposed by scientists V.I. Panov, M.O. Mdivani, E.V. Lidskaya and Sh.R. Khisambeev (subtests “Assessment of environmental threats”, “Environmental responsibility” and “Unity with nature” and “Situations”). The value-normative method of G.E. Zalessky as a way of involving subjects in life situations by systematically changing the conditions of the same task was applied. The study provides recommendations for developing ecological culture. In conclusion, methods of environmental education and eco-psychological interaction are described.

The integrative communicative technologies as a factor in the formation of ecological culture and eco-friendly communication of students

This paper examines the crucial role of integrative technologies in environmental education of students and their impact on the processes of formation of eco-friendly communication. As educational technologies are increasingly integrated into groups, understanding how teachers form an informed attitude to the environment and the society surrounding the student is of paramount importance. Based on relevant research and theories, this study examines various aspects of integrative technologies, including communication aspects and feedback strategies in working with undergraduate students. The article highlights how these aspects can significantly affect eco-friendly communication, environmental education, ecological culture contributing to a deeper understanding and preservation of knowledge, skills and abilities in this area. Changes in the system of higher professional education caused by an increase in the number of problematic environmental issues in society and the world as a whole under the influence of global processes in the surrounding world and society are considered. The study defines ecological communication and attitude, ecological culture in the framework of higher education. The content of the concept of integrative communicative technologies in education in relation to the factor of formation of ecological culture is analyzed.

The authors analyzed the factors that have a serious impact on ecological stability and the environment today when resources are limited and needs are unlimited. Therefore, this article explains the importance of the educational process in the formation of ecological culture. The effectiveness of ESP technology is based on the formation of students' attitudes to the environment, and nature, i.e. ecological culture. The study was carried out on the example of the activity of the Department of “Foreign Languages” of the Karshi Engineering Economics Institute.

The actualization of ecological discourse in modern research is due to the growth of problems in the relationship between man and nature both in the world and in modern Russian society, requiring the involvement of all possible mechanisms in their complex solution, including the study of everything rational and constructive in the cultural and historical heritage of each nation, including its mythopoetic folklore creativity, which it can bring real practical benefits in overcoming the consumer attitude of an individual to his environment and the formation of personal and social ecological culture. The scientific novelty of the study consists in the fact that the value dimension and the significance of the spiritual meanings of the Bashkir epic Ural-Batyr, in particular the proclamation of nature as a value, are revealed for the modern world and man, who are on the verge of an ecological catastrophe today. The purpose of the study: to consider the axiological and ecological components of the ideological ideas of the epic about the Ural Batyr. In accordance with the goal, the following tasks were solved: to identify the spiritual, moral and ecological potential of the epic Ural-Batyr; identify the key environmental imperatives of the legend; and to prove the relevance and significance of the ecological ideas of the epic for modernity. The authors used general scientific and philosophical methods: dialectical, hermeneutic, descriptive, abstraction, generalization, analysis and synthesis within the framework of the socio-cultural approach to the study of the topic and on the basis of the philosophical and axiological interpretation of the text of the epic about the Ural Batyr. These methods, in contrast to the exclusively philological analysis of epic works, the study of their poetics, the system of images, etc., made it possible to identify the spiritual and cultural meanings of the epic, the significance of its ecological imperatives for modernity. Moreover, the philosophical and ethical view of the value aspects of this work, the results obtained and the conclusions drawn about the importance of the ecological ideas of the epic for contemporaries allow us to further project the concept of “nature as value” also to other genres of Bashkir folklore and use their pedagogical potential in the educational process, in particular in the formation of the ecological culture of the individual and society.

Environmental education in international cooperation between Russian and Kazakh universities: case study

Introduction. Environmental problems and climate change are global challenges to mankind, requiring joint efforts for a joint solution. Predictions of climate scientists determine the need for radical changes in the way of life of modern civilization and the search for new approaches to environmental education of the younger generation. The aim of the article is to describe the joint experience of Russian and Kazakh universities in environmental education to form the foundations of environmental competence in an international project and analyze the results obtained. Materials and methods. An interdisciplinary project in English "Environmental Education: an international project on climate problems in the Russian Federation and Kazakhstan" involved 114 students of Petrozavodsk State University and Eurasian National University. The research methodology was based on a comparative analysis of the data obtained through formalized questionnaire surveys of open and closed types, as well as self-assessment and statistical methods. Research results. The experiment revealed positive dynamics in the environmental competence development of students of both universities, similarities and differences in their awareness of the vital importance of environmental issues for the world and their regions of residence. The target values of the experimental groups proved to be statistically significantly higher than those of the control group in their understanding of the seriousness of global warming problems (temp_PetrSU = 5,86, р<0,001; temp_ENU = 2,83, р<0,001), plastic waste recycling (temp_PetrSU = 5,12, р<0,001; temp_ENU = 4,27, р<0,001), forest fires (temp_PETRU = 5,25, р<0,001; temp_ENU = 5,80, р<0,001), droughts and food crisis (temp_PETRU = 5,31, р<0,001; temp_ENU = 5,27, р<0,001). The participants in the international project perceived the dangers of loss of a breathable atmosphere, ozone depletion (temp_PetrSU = 5,47, р<0,001; temp_ENU = 4,57, р<0,001) and starvation, connected with the Earth overpopulation (temp_PetrSU = 5,30, р<0,001; temp_ENU = 5,29, р<0,001) more deeply and seriously. The significant result of the project was the creation of an ecological YouTube channel and the development of a joint solution to overcome the identified environmental problems of the regions. Conclusion. The conducted study confirmed the effectiveness of integrating an environmental project into the content of foreign language teaching to develop students' environmental competence. It contributed to the complex ecological education and formation of ecological culture of young people capable of solving global problems of our time. Recommendations on the dissemination of this experience in environmental education of students of technical and natural-science training areas are offered.

Practices of the youth ecological culture formation: institutional conditions, problems and prospects of implementation

Introduction. The prerequisite for the study was the contradictions between the declared need to form environmental culture of youth and the lack of a unified approach to the interpretation of the essence of this category, its structure and the process of formation, between the expansion of the range of different actors carrying out environmental education activities in the youth environment, the growth in the number of their activities and the lack of systematization in this matter, as well as the objective lack of effective institutional algorithms for the formation and development of environmental culture of youth. The purpose of the study is to characterize the institutional conditions, key problems and prospects for the implementation of practices of formation of environmental culture of youth. Materials and methods. The research methods included the analysis of regulatory and legal documents on the topic of the study and expert survey of organizers of educational, educational and awareness-raising activities of environmental orientation for youth in the Krasnodar region. The expert survey was conducted in the form of a semi-structured interview on the basis of a questionnaire developed by the authors, including a set of open questions about institutional conditions, problems and prospects for the formation of environmental culture of youth and closed formalized questions that allow us to assess the current state of practice in the formation of environmental culture of youth. The selection of experts was carried out by the «snowball» method. Results. The study revealed the declarative nature of most of the existing legislative norms in the field of environmental culture formation among youth and the lack of an effective mechanism for their implementation, taking into account local conditions and peculiarities, especially with regard to the younger generation. The majority of experts expressed a consolidated opinion on the insufficient coverage of young people with practices of environmental education and awareness and insufficient use of the potential of various actors in the formation of environmental culture in the context of the need to increase staffing, develop interdisciplinary and project competencies of practice initiators and improve the effectiveness of intersectoral cooperation Conclusion. The most effective response to the current situation can be regular monitoring of the system of formation of environmental culture of youth and its institutional design to update the normativelegal, information-discursive, personnel and methodological support, as well as the creation of regional coordination centers for effective interdepartmental and intersectoral cooperation, taking into account the regional context.

THEORETICAL ASPECTS OF THE FORMATION OF ENVIRONMENTAL CULTURE OF YOUNG SCHOOLCHILDREN IN EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

The article emphasizes the characteristic features of the process of formation of environmental culture among young students in extracurricular activities. Elementary school is the most favorable period for environmental education, and the ways of forming a positive and correct attitude towards nature in the majority of children at the elementary school age are analyzed. In extracurricular activities, the tasks of forming the environmental culture of elementary school students are indicated. The main components of the ecological culture formation system are determined. The basic conditions for the successful formation of ecological culture are described. The theoretical aspects of the formation of a protective, careful and responsible attitude towards inanimate and living nature objects in students are analyzed. It is during the elementary school age that the child has an emotional impression of nature, the formation of ideas about the various forms of life on the Earth, and as a result, directions for the formation of fundamental principles of ecological consciousness, thinking, and culture are shown. The main content of the effectiveness of extracurricular activities in the formation of environmental culture of young students is analyzed.

Ecologization of education in the innovative space of higher education

The new content of the ecologization of education is considered, the goal is formulated and the possibilities of ecologization of education in the innovative space of higher education are shown. Definitions are interpreted: ecologization, ecologization of education in the innovative space of higher education; the main goals of ecologization of education and the main components and most important tasks of ecologization of education in the innovative space of higher education are highlighted (formation of ecological culture for all segments of the population; training of ecological specialists for the educational field and various branches of the national economy; in the field of ecological studies: improvement, standardization, harmonization of terminology. Three main types of spiritual values were identified. The main principles of ecologization of education in the innovative space of higher education and two interrelated components (promotional, content-informational) are singled out. The relevance of educational, cultural, and educational functions of ecologically oriented blogging is emphasized and the effectiveness of using project technologies in the formation of the ecological worldview of a higher education student, which contributes to the realization of the comprehensive development of the individual as a person and the highest value of society, is shown.

Abstract Throughout a long historical period, the natural resources of the world have been managed by different human communities. Living within the boundaries of their own ecosystems forces people to develop a deep knowledge of managing their natural resources. Whether they and their children will survive directly depends on their behavior. People have given the land and natural resources a social and symbolic value that goes beyond their immediate use value. This symbolism is based on ecological principles and supports a system of ethical, social and economic rules that are adaptive. This means that these principles and rules help human communities prevent the overexploitation of natural resources, preserve their connections with the surrounding ecosystems, so that people can live within the limits imposed by the availability of resources and technology. Over the course of the last few generations, however, the world's diversity of cultures, along with their adaptations to local environmental conditions, has been rapidly disintegrating under the influence of a new, global culture characterized by extremely high levels of consumption. Economic growth based on fossil fuel energy led to the rapid development of industry and international trade, and improved lifestyles as well as advances in health care led to rapid growth in human population and consumption. As a consequence, the search for new ways of extracting resources, involving powerful machines and efficient technologies, which absorb the traditions of conservation of nature built by local human communities during their long historical experience of survival, is intensified. Mechanisms developed as adaptations to the environment over hundreds of years are rapidly breaking down as a result of globalization, thereby freeing humans from their traditional environmental constraints.

The educational environment as a way of prospective teachers’ ecological culture formation while studying natural science courses

Currently, the problem of ecological culture is becoming generally recognized. The ecological direction in the system of higher professional education in the process of prospective teachers ecological culture formation is a noticeable factor. There is a need to systematize ecological and natural science pedagogical education: there is a change of axiological systems, cultural norms and values among the modern younger generation, the issues of ecological culture formation among students of pedagogical universities are not fully considered. The state educational standard of higher professional pedagogical education emphasizes the primary task to form the teachers personality with a high ecological culture, striving for harmonious interaction with the natural environment, a personality that is distinguished by the presence of attitudes, beliefs, and the need for activities to preserve and improve nature. There is a need for the dominant role and responsibility of prospective teachers in solving the issues of ecological culture formation among young people who are able to form a personality that is distinguished by the presence of beliefs of a conscious, careful, responsible attitude to the natural environment. In this regard, the need to increase attention to ecological culture formation among students of pedagogical universities becomes significant at the socio-pedagogical level. Ecological culture is not a specific type, but an integral part and level of human culture as a whole. The priority role in ecological culture formation among students belongs to the natural sciences, which form the foundation of the scientific understanding of the world. At the stage of modern university education, the ecological culture of youth develops on the principles of unity of the historical relationship between the natural environment and society, the social conditionality of the individuals relationship to nature, and the desire to harmonize these relations. The diversity of interaction between society and nature determines the complexity of environmental education, its main principles: a transdisciplinary approach to ecological culture formation, systematic and continuous study of scientific material, the unity of mental and emotional-volitional principles in the activities of students to study and improve the natural environment; the relationship of global and local environmental problems. This is emphasized by many scientists. The leading role in prospective teachers ecological culture formation is played by the educational environment of the university.

MAIN PRIORITIES FOR THE FORMATION OF ENVIRONMENTAL CULTURE OF STUDENTS OF MEDICAL COLLEGES

A comprehensive solution to the problem of environmental education requires the interconnection of all existing trends, the integration of valeology, ecology and medicine. Various psychological factors and mechanisms that contribute to the formation of an ecocentric type of environmental education serve as the psychological basis for the selection of the content of ecological and valeological education, which form ecological consciousness. The ontogenetic regularities of the formation of ecological culture in youth actualize the understanding of the student's personal position, attracting the search for harmony in the natural world and interaction with the natural world.

Diagnostics of the level of formation of ecological culture of secondary school students

The relevance of the research topic is due to the significant increase in anthropogenic activity, the increased attention of researchers to environmental problems, which proved the need to increase the level of ecological culture from an early age. The peculiarity of determining the level of ecological culture is its multicomponence, that is, it is necessary to determine the level of ecological knowledge, the level of ecological consciousness and environmental activity in order to obtain the level of ecological culture of the trainees. It is obvious that the concept of ecological culture has not gone unnoticed by researchers; some scientists interpret ecological culture as a part of universal human culture, others as a combination of three components (ecological knowledge, ecological consciousness and ecological activity). It should be said that it is possible to determine the level of ecological culture using various methods in accordance with the age characteristics of the study participants. The question of the definition of ecological culture remains debatable and is of significant interest to theorists of environmental education and practical teachers. The purpose of this study is to determine the initial level of environmental culture of secondary school students, and in order to achieve this goal, it is necessary to solve the following tasks: to analyze regulatory documents and scientific and methodological literature on the education of environmental culture of secondary school students; to consider the concept of environmental culture of students; to consider the psychological and age characteristics of adolescents 11–15 years old; to test students 5–9 classes to determine the level of environmental culture of students, analyze the results obtained; to give recommendations on further education of ecological culture of secondary school students. The object of this article is the education of ecological culture, the subject is the determination of the level of ecological culture of secondary school students. The scientific novelty of the study consists in a comprehensive analysis of the level of formation of ecological culture of schoolchildren according to various methods (grades 5–6 according to the methodology of S.S. Kashlev, S.N. Glazychev «Diagnostics of the level of ecological culture of the individual», grades 7–8 according to the methodology of E.V. Asafova «Ecological culture of students», grade 9 according to the test of E.Yu. Lushnikova «Self-assessment of ecological culture»). As a result of testing, it is proved that the higher the level of environmental culture of secondary school students, the better the understanding of the need to deepen environmental knowledge for the development of consciousness and environmental actions. To conduct a study to determine the level of environmental culture of secondary school students, the following methods were used: the method of theoretical analysis of pedagogical and scientific literature, the method of comparative analysis and testing. The theoretical basis of the research was the publications of domestic authors, which consider the ecological culture of adolescents in secondary school and the education of ecological culture in general. The practical significance of the research lies in obtaining the initial level of ecological culture of students, which can be used in pedagogical activities for greening the educational process and increasing the level of ecological culture of society as a whole. This research can also contribute to the development of fruitful cooperation between teachers of various disciplines of the natural sciences and humanities cycles.
