Makna Simbolik Tradisi MAPPACCI

This study investigates the symbolic meaning of tradition and tries to explain the Mappacci symbols of Bugis Traditional weddings in Pomburea Village, East Kolaka Regency, Lambandia District. The employed qualitative descriptive research methodology in this research is Charles Sanders Pierce's semiotic analysis. The research data comes from the symbols used in the Bugis Traditional Mappacci wedding procession from the Pomburea Village community. This study shows that mapacci is used in three main stages: Mapacci, Barasanji, and Khamatal Al-Qur'an. 2) The Mappacci ceremony, which is interpreted as "clean" and "holy", aims to cleanse the soul and body of the bride and groom before starting household ark by cleaning everything, including "Mappaccing ati" (clean heart), "Mappaccing nawanawa" (clean mind), "Mappaccing pangkaukeng" (clean actions and behavior), and "Mappaccing ateka" (clean faith) and the symbolic meaning of the Mappacci process is: (1) The pillow represents honor, glory, dignity, and mutual respect (sipakatau); (2) the silk sarong represents self-respect, sitat istikamah, and perseverance; (3) the leaves of banana shoots represent mutual connection or continuous life; (4) the leaves of jackfruit represent noble ideals or hope and honesty; (5) the leaves of pacci represent cleanliness or purity; and (6) rice represents well-developed, blooming, and good living creatures.(8), means unity, (9) young coconut and brown sugar: both represent sweetness

Strengthening village forest management strategies in East Kolaka, Southeast Sulawesi, Indonesia

The livelihoods of village communities in East Kolaka, Southeast Sulawesi, Indonesia, are intricately linked to managing forest resources for production, protection, and conservation. A key form of this community-based forest management is the Village Forest, a unique concept that encircles the forest. This study is particularly important as it evaluates the institutional conditions of Ueesi Village Forest management, Ueesi Sub-district, East Kolaka District, Southeast Sulawesi Province. It also proposes alternative strategies and strategic priorities for strengthening village forest institutions, strategies that are not just beneficial but also urgently needed for the sustainability of the communities. The study's findings underscore the need for the active participation of all stakeholders in this process. The study employed a qualitative approach and structured interviews with stakeholders or critical informants involved in the Ueesi Village Forest management. Technical analysis of Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT) and Quantitative Strategic Planning Matrix (QSPM) were used to identify the necessary management strategies. The study reveals that the most suitable strategy for strengthening village forest management institutions for Ueesi Village is a turn-around (WO) strategy, which leverages all external opportunities to address internal weaknesses. The main strategic priority is to create role models who can mobilize and encourage administrators of village forest management institutions and community members to actively participate in the Ueesi Village Forest's management actively, fostering a sense of shared responsibility. The low knowledge and capacity of village forest Management Institutions (LPHD) administrators and members and the lack of systematic government support are the reasons why LPHD Ueesi is not yet optimal. In addition to government support, support is also needed from NGOs, universities, and the business sector (BUMD and private). Therefore, it is crucial to design a strategy to strengthen appropriate management institutions to support the management of the Ueesi Village Forest, with the active involvement of all stakeholders.

PERAN PENYULUH DALAM BUDIDAYA TANAMAN CABAI DI DESA PONI-PONIKI KECAMATAN TIRAWUTA KABUPATEN KOLAKA TIMUR

Agricultural extension has a strategic role in the development of chilli farming in Poni-Poniki village, Tirawuta sub-district, East Kolaka district. This research was conducted from February to March 2024 in Poni-Poniki Village with 36 chilli farmers selected by random sampling from 256 chilli farmers. Chilli farmers in Poni-Poniki Village are farmers who are active in conducting Caba farming. Data collection was carried out using survey techniques, observation or observation and documentation. Data analysis used in this study was measured using class intervals. The results showed that based on the discussion of the role of extension workers in the cultivation of chilli plants in poni-poniki village, tirawuta sub-district, east kolaka district showed that farmers' responses to chilli plant cultivation, namely facilitators, motivators and educators, were in the high category.

DINAMIKA KELOMPOK TANI PADA USAHATANI PADI SAWAH DI DESA PEATOA KECAMATAN LOEA KABUPATEN KOLAKA TIMUR

This study aims to examine the dynamics of farmer groups engaged in rice paddy farming in Peatoa Village, Loea District, East Kolaka Regency. The population under investigation consisted of all wet-rice farmers who were members of farmer groups in Peatoa Village, with a total of 54 wet-rice farmers. The sample was determined using the census method, whereby the entire population was included in the study, resulting in a research sample of 54 respondents. This research employs a quantitative approach. Data were gathered through survey methods, interviews, and documentation via media in the form of questionnaires. The data were processed using a quantitative descriptive method with the class interval formula and Spearman Rank correlation, with the assistance of SPSS software. The results indicated that the dynamics of paddy rice farmer groups in Peatoa Village had a positive impact on farm development. The majority of farmer group members shared similar goals. Group structure involved the division of tasks and responsibilities among members. The farmer groups demonstrate a high level of group task function. The farmer group coaching is progressing well. Each group member exhibits high levels of cohesion, which reflects effective unity and cohesiveness in managing rice paddy farming. A positive group atmosphere enhances cooperation, engagement, and productivity. The level of farmer group activity is an important factor in farm success. Overall, the farmer group dynamics in Peatoa Village show positive patterns, providing insights for agricultural policy development and community development in the region. Further enhancements to the dynamics of farmer groups may also be considered to enhance the productivity of wet-rice farming.

The Dynamics of Multi-Ethnic Communities and Farmer Mentality In Building Food Security In East Kolaka

This research explores the cooperation of multiethnic communities and the formation of a farmer mentality in East Kolaka District, Southeast Sulawesi Province, in building food security. The purpose of this study is to understand how the interaction between diverse ethnic groups in East Kolaka society affects the way farmers manage agricultural resources and shape their mentality regarding agriculture so as to realize food security. The cultural interaction among multi-ethnic communities serves as a collective strength in East Kolaka District to address food scarcity and to build a food security system, which has not been optimally examined and elucidated in previous studies. Using qualitative approach, data was collected using in-depth interview and observation. This study was conducted in East Kolaka District, Southeast Sulawesi Province. The total number of informants is fourteen, including rice farmers, community leaders, members of farmer groups, agricultural extension workers, and village and sub-district government officials. The study shows that various ethnic groups have unique agricultural practices, traditional techniques, and different local knowledge. The interaction between these groups has resulted in an exchange of knowledge and experience, which in turn affects the mentality of farmers positively in the face of environmental and social changes, and can build their food security and even surplus. These findings have important implications in efforts to improve food security and agricultural sustainability in East Kolaka, as well as encourage inter-ethnic cooperation in the context of agriculture. This research contributes to a deeper understanding of the complexities of multi-ethnic societies and how interactions between these groups can shape peasant mentalities. The findings of this study can be an input for policymakers in designing more inclusive and sustainable strategies in agricultural resource management in similar regions.

PENGENALAN MANAJEMEN PEMELIHARAAN SAPI PERAH BERDASARKAN PEDOMAN GOOD DAIRY FARMING PRACTICE (GDFP) DI DESA WESALO, KABUPATEN KOLAKA TIMUR

Dairy cows as milk-producing livestock will show their best performance if their maintenance management is carried out well. Good dairy cattle management can be done by referring to Good Dairy Farming Practice (GDFP). This service activity was carried out to increase the knowledge and skills of dairy farmers in Wesalo Village, Lalolae Village, East Kolaka Regency. The stages of this activity include: 1). activity preparation; 2. technical guidance on management of dairy cattle maintenance according to GDPP; 3. monitoring and evaluating activities. This activity is very beneficial for breeders in Wesalo Village because the breeders are new to and starting to raise dairy cattle. During the activity, the breeders were very active in discussing and enthusiastically listening to the speakers' presentations. Breeders are also very enthusiastic and focused on paying attention to the technical guidance provided during direct visits to the breeder's pen. Implementation of GDFP can be carried out by paying attention to aspects: 1). breeding and reproduction; 2). provision of feed and drinking water; 3). management; 4). cages and equipment; 5). livestock health and welfare. This community service activity closed with monitoring and evaluation to determine the level of understanding and help farmers who experience difficulties in raising dairy cattle. This activity can increase the knowledge and skills of farmers so they can maintain and develop dairy cows.

IDENTIFIKASI SEKTOR EKONOMI UNGGULAN DI KABUPATEN KOLAKA TIMUR

The purpose of this study was to identify and analyze the leading economic sectors in East Kolaka Regency, Southeast Sulawesi Province. This research uses secondary data obtained from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) of East Kolaka Regency with a time span of 2018 to 2022. The data was analyzed using Location Quotient (LQ) analysis and Klassen typology. The results showed that the Basic Sector consists of four categories: (1) Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries; (2) Wholesale and Retail Trade, Rep. Cars and Motorcycles; (3) Adm. Government, Defense, and Compulsory Social Security; and (4) Other Services. In addition, the Klassen Typology Analysis identifies certain economic sectors as advanced. (1) Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries Sector; (2) Government Administration, Defense, and Compulsory Social Security; and (3) Other Services.

PARTISIPASI ANGGOTA DAN PERMODALAN PADA KEBERHASILAN KOPERASI PRODUSEN TANI LEKMA MOKUPA DI KECAMATAN LAMBANDIA KABUPATEN KOLAKA TIMUR

This study aims to determine the level of member participation, capital, and success of the Produsen Tani Lekma Mokupa Cooperative in Mokupa Village, Lambandia District, East Kolaka Regency. The population in this study consisted of 307 members of the Produsen Tani Lekma Mokupa Cooperative recorded in 2021, while the sample size was 39 members determined using the sloving formula. The Simple Random Sampling technique was employed for sampling. Data collection for this study involved the use of interviews, surveys, and documentation methods, as well as questionnaires as data collection instruments. The collected data was analyzed quantitatively using the class interval formula. The results indicate that the Produsen Tani Lekma Mokupa Cooperative was successful in business, members, and development. This success is classified as 'good' according to the Cooperative Success in Business, Members, and Development criteria. It is important to note that this evaluation is objective and based solely on the data presented. Member participation in organizational management, capital formation, and utilizing cooperative business services places it in the participating category. Additionally, the principal savings, mandatory savings, and voluntary savings of members of the Produsen Tani Lekma Mokupa Cooperative indicate that it is in the good category for capital.

WHAT MAKES COCOA FARMERS CONVERT COCOA LAND? CASE STUDY: TWO COCOA PRODUCING DISTRICTS IN SOUTHEAST SULAWESI PROVINCE, INDONESIA

Southeast Sulawesi province, as one of the cocoa baskets and the center of the National Cocoa Movement (GERNAS), continues to experience a decline in cocoa production and land area. One factor is the widespread conversion of cocoa land. This phenomenon needs to be highlighted and studied further because it can affect the sustainability of the cocoa value chain in Southeast Sulawesi. This study aims to determine what factors influence cocoa farmers in converting cocoa farmland to other farms in Southeast Sulawesi Province's two leading cocoa-producing districts. The research sites were purposely selected because they are the two leading cocoa-producing districts in the province. This study used logistic regression analysis. Cocoa farmers in Kolaka district converted cocoa land to patchouli farming, while cocoa farmers in East Kolaka district converted their cocoa land to rice farming. The analysis results show that the main factors that significantly influence cocoa farmers' decision to convert cocoa land are cocoa farming experience and the price of other commodities (including the level of income farmers receive from farming other commodities). The primary policy that the government can take in maintaining cocoa land area is to provide price certainty for cocoa itself. So far, cocoa farmers have always faced price uncertainty, and cocoa's value chain and sustainability in Southeast Sulawesi Province need to be clarified.

Eco-Enzymes Go to Schools: SMKN 5 East Kolaka's Efforts to Build Environmental Awareness and Sustainable Independence

Utilizing organic waste as a source of material to produce economically valuable and environmentally friendly products is a very positive initiative. One of the superior products that can be produced from organic waste is Eco-enzyme. This activity aims to provide students with an understanding of the process of making Eco-enzyme and its various benefits. Training and practice in making Eco-enzyme is an effective means of conveying this information to students at SMKN 5 East Kolaka. The evaluation results via questionnaires show the positive impact of this community service activity. As many as 80% of respondents stated that Eco-enzyme was in accordance with community needs, while 95% stated that their insight had increased after participating in this activity. The presence of 90% of respondents stating the benefits of this activity also reflects success in conveying information and skills to the community. In fact, the percentage of those interested in carrying out Eco-enzyme manufacturing practices increased significantly from 20% to 95%

This study investigates the involvement of farmer groups and Field Agricultural Extension Workers (PPL) in the acquisition of subsidized fertilizers in Bou Village, Lambandia Sub-district, East Kolaka District. A qualitative approach was employed, with 11 rice farmers selected as informants through the snowball sampling technique. Data was collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, utilizing an interview guide as a medium. The study employed a descriptive qualitative method for data analysis. This involved identifying, systematically presenting, processing, and interpreting the collected data. The results indicate that farmer groups in Bou Village, Lambandia Sub-district, play a significant role in enhancing farmers' knowledge and skills, particularly in the procurement of subsidized fertilizers. The function of farmer groups is demonstrated by their role as a learning community, a cooperative vehicle, and a production unit. The role of Field Agricultural Extension Workers (PPL) has been effective in assisting farmers in the process of obtaining subsidized fertilizers, particularly in their role as mediators, facilitators, and initiators. However, the role of motivator has not been successfully fulfilled by extension workers. The procurement of subsidized fertilizers is based on six principles: the right type, quantity, price, place, time, and quality. The distribution of subsidized fertilizers has successfully achieved the principles of the right type, place, time, and quality. However, the principles of the right amount and price have not been successfully realized.

CREATING DIGITAL DICTIONARIES OF LOCAL LANGUAGES AND UPGRADING SCHOOL TEACHERS PATENT KNOWLEDGEIN KONAWE AND EAST KOLAKA REGENCIES

Community Service Activities by a Team of Lecturers (Lecturers) of the Faculty of Law, Lecturers of Faculty of Cultureand Lecturers of Informatics Engineering Faculty of Engineering Haluoleo University at SDN 2 Puosu and SDN 1 SendangMulyasari in Konawe and East Kolaka Regencies, Southeast Sulawesi Province. This activity was carried out for 6 months starting from observation, coordination and consolidation with SDN 2 Puosu and SDN 1 SendangMulyasari followed by preparation of teaching materials, IPR / Patent laws, provision of Digital Dictionary Applications and Information Systems, implementation of activities and preparation of reports.The purpose of this Community Service activity is to provide knowledge about IPR / Patent Laws for Teachers and Students of SDN 2 Puosu and SDN 1 SendangMulyasari in Konawe and East Kolaka Regencies to implement the Creation of Regional Language Digital Dictionaries that can be used for learning students and teachers through the knowledge transfer process. And campaigning for pirated IPR / Patent laws and the use of Regional Language Digital Dictionary Copyrights to create Digital Dictionary Applications and Information Systems that can be used for students and teachers to learn at the office and at home.Some important materials presented in this Community Service Activity are socializing IPR / patent laws, understanding patent laws, copyright use of digital dictionaries of local languages, making applications and digital dictionary information systems, and others.The results obtained from this activity are expected to be able to understand IPR / Patent Laws and Copyright Use of Regional Language Digital Dictionaries for making Digital Dictionary Applications and Information Systems, especially for Teachers and Students of SDN 2 Puosu and SDN 1 SendangMulyasari in Konawe and East Kolaka Regencies, as well as additional knowledge and insight into the world of information technology. And it is hoped that it can help spread IPR / Patent laws and Copyright Use of Digital Regional Language Dictionaries as a form of implementation and educate students and teachers regarding the preservation of regional languages.

Mekambare As a Former of Social Solidarity in Supporting Food Security in Sustainable Agriculture Management in East Kolaka Regency

The local community’s culture has been recognized as playing an essential role in achieving food security. This study attempts to demystify a cultural tradition among an Indonesian agriculture society, called Mekambare, that plays such a role in sustainable agricultural management. It was conducted in East Kolaka Regency, an area dominated by lowland rice farmers. Framed in a qualitative method, this study used observation, in-depth interviews, and document studies as techniques of data collection. The results showed that Mekambare played a crucial role in forming social solidarity among lowland rice farming communities. Through Mekambare, farming communities build mutual cooperation and support one another in overcoming challenges related to supplying food demands. This social solidarity is manifested in the exchange of food commodities, social support, and the dissemination of traditional knowledge in agricultural management. With Mekambare, the lowland rice farming communities maintain the balance of the agricultural ecosystem by utilizing natural predators, utilizing organic fertilizers from livestock manure, and implementing integrated weed control. This research can make a positive contribution to efforts to achieve sustainable food security and the welfare of farming communities in East Kolaka Regency.

Pengembangan Bahan Ajar IPA melalui Pendekatan STEAM untuk Meningkatkan Hasil Belajar pada Siswa Adi Widya Pasraman

This research conducted because of the lack of teaching materials in general subjects, especially science, at Adi Widya Pasraman. This research aims to develop science-teaching materials using the steam (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) approach to improve students learning outcomes at Adi Widya Pasraman. The method used in this research is Research and Development, with the ADDIE (analysis, design, development, implementation, evaluation) approach. The stages in the ADDIE approach (analysis, design, development, implementation, evaluation) namely needs analysis, designing teaching materials, developing teaching materials, implementation and evaluation. The teaching material product that will developed in this research is a Google web site, which can accessed via gadgets or computers. This research carried out at Adi Widya Pasraman in East Kolaka Data collection carried out through observation, interviews, tests, and questionnaires. Data analyzed using validation, evaluation, revision and implementation stages. The results of this research are in the form of needs analysis data, where students really need teaching materials in general learning, which can be accessed easily, and contain material that is adaptive to education at Adi Widya Pasraman, and is easy to implement for students. Based on the needs analysis and literature study carried out, the STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics) based science teaching materials at Adi Widya Pasraman are very feasible.

ANALISIS KUALITAS LAYANAN PERUSAHAAN DAERAH AIR MINUM PADA PELAYANAN AIR BERSIH DI KECAMATAN TIRAWUTA KABUPATEN KOLAKA TIMUR

The research aims to analyze the quality of PDAM Tirta Simbune services in East Kolaka Regency, with a focus on clean water services in Tirawuta District. East Kolaka Regency has abundant water resource potential, but there are still various challenges in providing quality and adequate drinking water to the community. This research uses secondary data analysis methods and customer surveys to identify existing problems and increase understanding of customer needs and expectations for PDAM services. Data was collected from PDAM, the local government, and through a survey involving several PDAM customers in Tirawuta District. The research results illustrate that the service quality of PDAM Tirta Simbune is quite good when seen from direct evidence, reliability, responsiveness, assurance and empathy, but there is still a need for improvements in facilities and infrastructure. Meanwhile, factors that influence service quality are external influences and also internal influences. Internal influences can relatively be controlled by the company, for example, facilities and infrastructure, discipline, employee responsibility, employee ability, politeness, speed of response, ease of service procedures, suitability of procedures, clarity of service, and thoroughness of transactions, while external influences such as building relationships with customers, flow Dry season, rainy season flow and professionalism in resolving customer complaints.
