Enhancing Students Experience: A Comprehensive Approach through Uni-Connect

Inspired by this need, we propose the development of UniConnect, a dynamic web application utilizing the MERN stack. A novel web-based dynamic prognostic nomogram for gastric signet ring cell carcinoma: a multicenter population-based study.

Gastric signet ring cell carcinoma (GSRCC) is a rare and highly malignant disease with a poor prognosis. To assess the overall survival (OS) and cancer-specific survival (CSS) of patients with GSRCC, prognostic nomograms were developed and validated using common clinical factors. This retrospective cohort study included patients diagnosed with GSRCC between 2011 and 2018 from the National Cancer Center (n = 1453) and SEER databases (n = 2745). Prognostic nomograms were established by identifying independent prognostic factors using univariate and multivariate Cox regression analyses. The calibration curve and C-index were used to assess the predictions. The clinical usefulness of the survival prediction model was further evaluated using the DCA and ROC curves. The models were internally validated in the training cohort and externally validated in the validation cohort. Two web servers were created to make the nomogram easier to use. Patients with GSRCC were divided into training (n = 2938) and validation (n = 1260) cohorts. The nomograms incorporated six predictors: age, race, tumor site, tumor size, N stage, T stage, and AJCC stage. Excellent agreement was observed between the internal and exterior calibration plots for the GSRCC survival estimates. The C-index and area under the ROC curve were roughly greater than 0.7. Both nomograms had adequate clinical efficacy, as demonstrated by the DCA plots. Furthermore, we developed a dynamic web application utilizing the constructed nomograms available at https://jiangyujuan.shinyapps.io/OS-nomogram/ and https://jiangyujuan.shinyapps.io/DynNomapp-DFS/. We developed web-based dynamic nomograms utilizing six independent prognostic variables that assist physicians in estimating the OS and CSS of patients with GSRCC.

Building an Electronic Medical Record System Exchanged in FHIR Format and Its Visual Presentation.

Currently, the Taiwan Electronic Medical Record Exchange Center uses the Clinical Document Architecture (CDA) framework, which is based on the international medical standard. The CDA R2 standard, defined in 2005, is used for cross-institution retrieval of electronic medical records (Ministry of Health and Welfare, Information Department, 2021). However, CDA R2 only supports the exchange of clinical documents and is limited to the XML format. Due to the lack of a standardized framework for medical data exchange in Taiwan, different standards and specifications result in different data interface methods between systems, requiring customization for each system by healthcare institutions or the government. The inconsistency in data formats requires healthcare institutions and the government to spend more time on data parsing and mapping, resulting in slow integration of medical data. In this study, we simulated healthcare institutions using Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) for medical information exchange and utilized the exchanged medical information to create a dynamic dashboard to assist healthcare professionals in making medical decisions. To ensure information security, we employed Hyper Text Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTPS) for secure transmission, which encrypts the transmitted medical record data using the Transport Layer Security (TLS) protocol, preventing deliberate interception and tampering of medical record data between the two systems. Finally, to test the load and performance of static and dynamic resources and web applications, we conducted a system performance evaluation using Apache JMeter. The results of this study demonstrate that replacing the gateway of the Electronic Medical Record Exchange Center with an FHIR server effectively reduces the time and cost spent by developers on data format conversion while also mitigating the information security risks associated with the previous VPN solution. Additionally, by utilizing dynamic charts, healthcare professionals are assisted in making medical decisions.

Sentiment Analysis of Educational Institutions for Getting Admission

The "Sentiment Analysis of Educational Institutions for Admissions" project introduces a dynamic web application that leverages sentiment analysis techniques to provide valuable insights into the sentiment associated with reviews of various educational institutions. Sentiment analysis, a subset of Natural Language Processing (NLP), is employed to gauge the sentiment expressed in text, categorizing it as positive, negative, or neutral. The project aims to facilitate decision-making for potential admissions by offering a comprehensive view of sentiment trends. The web application utilizes the VADER (Valence Aware Dictionary and sentiment Reasoner) sentiment analysis tool to analyze reviews of educational institutions. Upon uploading review datasets, the application processes and visualizes the sentiment distribution, providing users with an overview of the sentiment patterns within different institutions. The system's interface allows users to select specific educational institutions for sentiment analysis, presenting a percentage breakdown of positive, negative, and neutral sentiments in the reviews. Furthermore, the project introduces a ranking mechanism that ranks educational institutions based on their sentiment scores and reviews. This feature offers users a streamlined method to compare institutions and make informed decisions regarding potential admissions. To enhance the presentation of sentiment analysis results, the project employs the Matplotlib library to generate pie charts illustrating sentiment distribution and admission likelihood percentages. The project's web application not only showcases the application of sentiment analysis in real-world scenarios but also serves as a practical tool for students, parents, and educational institutions. Wild pigs and their widespread threat to biodiversity conservation in South America

Wild pigs, including wild boar (Sus scrofa) and feral domestic pig (Sus scrofa domestica), are associated with negative impacts in their native and introduced ranges. We compiled wild pig occurrence reports and utilized Maximum Entropy modelling to predict their potential distribution in ecoregions overlaying Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, Uruguay and Paraguay. An analysis of their observed and potential distributions was carried out in relation to four biodiversity hotspots and 3766 protected areas to estimate the number of units and percent area currently and potentially invaded. Among biodiversity hotspots, Atlantic Forest, Cerrado, and Chilean Winter Rainfall-Valdivian Forests included 44.7% of wild pig records. The proportion of suitable area was 85% in Atlantic Forest, 61.3% in Cerrado, 37.5% in Chilean Winter Rainfall-Valdivian Forests, and 5.6% in Tropical Andes. The number of protected areas with known wild pig presence was led by Uruguay (100%), followed by Chile (20.3%), Argentina (15.8%), Paraguay (9.5%), Bolivia (6.5%), and Brazil (4.7%). The proportion of protected areas with predicted wild pig presence was highest in Uruguay (100%), followed by Paraguay (72.6%), Brazil (58.0%), Argentina (57.4%), Chile (42.2%), and Bolivia (35.9%). Our work represents the first assessment of wild pig potential distribution in South America and highlights the potentially devastating impacts of wild pigs on the regional biodiversity and national conservation targets, especially at mega-diverse areas. We present a dynamic web application that can be readily consulted by scientists, managers and decision makers to improve wild pig control and risk mitigation actions in the study region.

Dynamic Web Application Firewall detection supported by Cyber Mimic Defense approach

With the increase of publicly available applications on the Internet, the number of new vulnerabilities increases. The currently used security methods are static and predictable and therefore have problems detecting unknown vulnerabilities. This issue creates an advantage for attackers — more attacks are carried out successfully than existing countermeasures that protect against them. It can especially be seen when considering the protection provided by Web Application Firewalls (WAF). Namely, it is often enough to obfuscate an attacker’s payload to bypass security mechanisms successfully. Of course, many approaches are used to improve the protection provided by WAF, but this is associated with many problems, and a high level of security is expected almost from the moment such a device is deployed. One such approach may be the use of mimic defense, which is a proactive method of detecting unknown attacks. This paper presents the results of experiments in the network with web servers secured by WAF with additional protection provided by the mimic defense idea. The conducted research shows that the usage of mimic defense increases the number of detected and blocked attack attempts. It also introduces the unpredictability that an attacker has to confront when trying to carry out an attack. Moreover, the proposed concept allows for creating new temporary rules that supply the WAF while increasing the chances of detecting previously undiscovered attacks.

Encrypting information sent for cryptographic purposes confidentiality, integrity, authentication and irrefutable proof is one of the methods used for this purpose. Algorithm is a collection of problem-solving commands. Algorithm also has a process of repetition (iteration) and decisions that cannot be made. Vigenere cipher is one of the traditional cryptographic algorithms with multiple alphabetical substitution. PHP stands for PHP Hypertext Preprocessor. PHP is a scripting language that is commonly used to create dynamic web applications by deploying them on servers. The purpose of this research is to secure secret messages using the Vigenere Cipher algorithm using PHP.

Adaptive technologies for rapid web interface design of corporate educational systems within the framework of the 1C:Enterprise 8.3 platform

The article discusses technologies for fast web application deployment design based on continuous information exchange with a corporate system developed using the 1C:Enterprise 8.3 platform. We identify data exchange formats between a web application and a software product based on the 1C:Enterprise 8.3 platform to handle the tasks of dynamically generated and adaptable interfaces. The study proposes the concept of a modifiable component-based architecture for the interaction of a web application with commercial data storage and processing systems. This concept makes it possible to implement a dynamic web application interface design and to automate the data management functionality directly from the enterprise solution based on the 1C:Enterprise 8.3 platform. The article formulates the criteria and operating principles for such an application. We have also developed system technologies to design a web application that can be integrated into replicated software solutions permitting control of the mechanisms for dynamic interface design and data transfer from the solution to a web application. The launched application for web application interfaces designing makes it possible to dynamically change the components of web forms as well as determine the details displayed to the user in the output interface. In addition, we describe the principles of dynamic interaction between a web application and the data interface management component. The research enabled us to identify the components of the module for interaction of interfaces with the web application. A conceptual universal control scheme for generating dynamic interfaces has been formulated. It can be implemented to create almost any kind of web forms, including processing incoming data from a web application using the REST interchange in JSON format. The article provides a comparison of interchange formats. We describe implemented IT-projects for organizing a prospective student’s personal account and the applicant’s dynamic rating. These projects are the result of the ideas proposed in the article.

QExplore: An exploration strategy for dynamic web applications using guided search

Dynamic exploration approaches play an important role in automating web testing and analysis. They are extensively used to explore the state-space of a web application for achieving complete coverage of the application’s functionality. Dynamic exploration approaches support end-to-end automation of testing to verify the correct behavior of a web application. However, existing approaches failed to explore the states behind the web forms and can get stuck in dynamic regions of web applications resulting in poor functionality coverage and diversity. Consequently, existing approaches are regressive in nature and sensitive to small DOM mutations which may not be interesting from a testing perspective. In this paper, we propose a dynamic exploration approach using guided search inspired by Q-learning that systematically explores dynamic web applications requiring less or no prior knowledge about the application. Our approach is implemented in a tool called QExplore and is empirically evaluated with six popular open-source and one real industrial application. The results show that QExplore achieved higher coverage with more diverse DOM than the existing state-of-the-art tools Crawljax and WebExplor. QExplore also results in a greater number of navigational paths, error states and distinct DOM states when compared with the existing tools.

Beyond the scorecard diplomacy: From soft power rankings to critical inductive geography

The article interrogates if data visualization, despite its inherited subjectivity, can be used not only as a tool for data representation but also as a research platform to facilitate an iterative exploratory process to identify new themes, raise new questions, and generate new knowledge. It addresses this task by pursuing a twofold research goal. On the one hand, it confirms previous findings that have documented the political power of data visualization specifically in the field of scorecard diplomacy. It critically discusses Portland Soft Power 30 Index that measures soft power of selected countries on the annual basis to reveal how the scorecard diplomacy works through the ranking dashboard. On the other hand, the article reflects on the experience of designing a geo-visualization system that, by contrast, intended to overcome shortcomings of data visualization’s politics to build a platform for an inductive academic research. It discusses a new deep mapping framework of soft power visualization that intended to address several critical problems of Portland’s measurements and shares research insights from the project “Deep Mapping: Creating a Dynamic Web Application Museum Soft Power Map.”
