Prism tuner for single frequency operation of CW dye laser

A cw dye laser capable of single longitudinal mode operation and linear reproducible wavelenght tuning over a relatively wide spectral range is described. By employing a novel scheme of four intracavity highly dispersive Abbe prisms output powers of 5 mW with a linewidth less than 30 MHz for an input power of 700 mW have been obtained.

Details of single longitudinal mode operation of an argon laser pumped cw dye laser using a low-loss interferometric mode selector are described. Typical output powers of 5 mw with a bandwidth of 30 MHz for an input power of 700 mw have been obtained.

Power output coupling in a dye laser pumped by a nitrogen laser

A simple model for the operation of a pulsed dye laser, transversely pumped by a nitrogen laser, is presented. We consider the combined effect of the transmission of the laser output coupler, its distance from the dye cell and the saturated gain characteristics of the dye laser medium, on the operation of the laser. Experimental results are interpreted in terms of this model.

A simple reliable co-axial dye laser system

A simple sealed co-axial flashlamp suitable for reliable dye laser operation is described. For 100 J electrical input energy, laser action was obtained over the range 350–760 nm, and for 600 J electrical input energy, outputs of up to 5.0 J were obtained at 595 nm.

A tunable dye laser with a composite holographic wavelengths selector

Composite holographic diffraction gratings, each recorded with a different wavelength, are utilized to achieve simultaneous multiple wavelengths operation of a tunable dye laser. By properly selecting the recording wavelengths and adjusting the efficiency of the holographic gratings, the tuning range and output powers at the various wavelengths can be controlled.

Simultaneous multiple-wavelength operation of a tunable dye laser

A new technique for simultaneous operation of a dye laser at a number of independently tunable wavelengths is described. The system utilizes holographic wavelength selectors in succession, each aligned to choose one particular wavelength, and the output beam contains these wavelengths collinearly. Strong competition effects due to the homogeneous broadening of the amplifying medium reduce the multiple-wavelength tuning range. By proper adjustment of the components in the device, this range can be increased to cover most of the single-wavelength tuning region. The operational characteristics and the experimental results obtained at two-wavelength operation are presented and discussed.

A ring cavity configuration for a tunable cw dye laser is described. A substantial reduction of the output bandwidth of the ring laser with increase in power for unidirectional or traveling-wave operation has been demonstrated. The advantages of the ring configuration for single-frequency operation of cw dye lasers are explored.

Cw laser emission from coumarin dyes in the blue and green

Continuous and quasi-continuous operation of an organic dye laser was achieved with eight coumarin dyes in the wavelength region 420 to 585 nm. Lasing thresholds, untuned, ranged from 150 to 600 mW. To circumvent detrimental thermal effects, the dyes were dissolved in water using N,N-dipropylacetamide or hexafluoroisopropanol as solubilizing agents.

Design and Operation of a Tunable Continuous Dye Laser

Design considerations and performance are discussed for the previously reported continuous dye solution laser. Output power was 1 W untuned and up to 320 mW when tuned by a prism. Tuning range was 525-680 nm, obtained with the use of several dye solutions. Theoretical predictions. of output power as a function of input power and of dye concentration were in good agreement with measurements.

Generation of tunable UV from 2610 to 3150 Å

The letter reports on the operation of an intracavity doubled dye laser. ADP was used for both doubling the dye laser and also summing with the pumping laser to further extend the tuning range. To achieve the full spectral range from 261–315 nm, a 532 nm pump with intracavity angle tuning of the ADP crystal, and a 473 nm pump with external temperature tuning were both used. An average UV power of 32 mW was obtained at 290 nm.

The operation of a mode-locked cw dye laser is described. A stable output of repetitive 55-psec pulses has been obtained with an acousto-optic loss modulator in the dye-laser cavity. Pulse widths have been determined by autocorrelation measurements using second harmonic generation in ADP.

Long-pulse dye-laser emission across the visible spectrum

Long-pulse laser emission has been obtained across the visible spectrum using six different organic dyes in solution with triplet-state quenching additives, suggesting many new candidates for CW dye-laser operation.

Single mode operation of a continuous tunable dye laser

We describe a tunable dye laser operating continuously in the range 570 nm to 620 nm. With a single prism and an intracavity etalon, single mode operation is obtained with a short-term bandwidth of less than 4 × 10 -5nm (35 MHz) and a long-term stability of better than 2 × 10 -4nm (180 MHz). At the center of the tuning range the single-mode power is 40 mW when the dye laser is pumped by a 1.3 watt argon

Abstract We report measurements of triplet lifetime in Rhodamine 6G under steady state pumping by an argon laser and observation of nearly continuous operation of dye laser under the same pumping.

Feasibility of CW operation of dye-lasers
