Analysis of The Transformation of The District Economic System in Riau Province

This research aims to look at the economic structure transformation in each district in Riau Province. The method used is analyzing competitive advantage and specialization of Esteban Marquillass and Klassen typology. From the results of processing, it is known that agriculture, forestry, and fisheries are superior sectors, have competitiveness, and are specialized in 6 districts in Riau, namely Indragiri Hulu (Inhu), Kampar, Indragiri Hilir (Inhil), Pelalawan, Kuantan Singingi (Kuansing), and Rokan Hulu (Rohul). The manufacturing industry is a superior sector that has competitiveness and specialization in Dumai City, and the trade sector is a sector that has a competitive advantage and specialization in Pekanbaru City. Meanwhile, no single industry has a competitive advantage and specialization in 4 other districts (Siak, Bengkalis, Rokan Hilir, and Kepulauan Meranti). Processing results with the Klassen typology show that the agricultural industry in Kuansing, Inhu, and Kampar Regencies, which 2012 was developing, will shift to become a mainstay sector in 2022. In contrast, in Bengkalis, Pekanbaru, and Dumai Regencies, this sector is still one of the lagging economic sectors.

PENGARUH BRAND IMAGE DAN HARGA TERHADAP KEPUASAN KONSUMEN AQUA MELALUI KEPUTUSAN PEMBELIAN DI SUPERMARKET HARI–HARI KOTA DUMAI RIAU

This research aims to determine the influence of brand image and price on consumer satisfaction at Hari - Hari Dumai City Riau Supermarket through intervening variables in purchasing decisions. This research uses a quantitative method with an explanatory research type. The sample in this study was taken as many as 100 people using accidental sampling technique. Hypothesis testing was carried out using a Structural Equation Model (SEM) approach based on Partial Least Square (PLS) using the SmartPLS version 3 application to test the relationship between variables. The research results show that brand image has an insignificant positive influence on Aqua purchasing decisions at the Hari - Hari Dumai City Riau Supermarket. Price and brand image have significant positive influence on Aqua purchasing decisions at the Hari - Hari Dumai City Riau Supermarket. Price does not have a significant effect on Aqua consumer satisfaction at Hari - Hari Dumai City Riau Supermarket. Purchasing decisions have a significant effect on Aqua consumer satisfaction at Hari - Hari Dumai City Riau Supermarket. Brand image has an insignificant indirect effect on Aqua consumer satisfaction through purchasing decisions at the Hari - Hari Dumai City Riau Supermarket. Price has an indirect effect on Aqua consumer satisfaction through purchasing decisions at the Hari - Hari Dumai City Riau Supermarket.

UPAYA GURU DALAM MENGATASI KESULITAN MEMBACA SISWA SEKOLAH DASAR

In facing the challenges students face in reading, teachers need to be proactive in providing guidance to help them overcome obstacles that hinder the learning process. This research aims to explain the reading problems faced by students and the teachers' efforts to solve them in class II of SDN 002 Bagan Besar, Dumai City. The method applied in this research is a qualitative approach. Researchers used various data collection techniques including observation, interviews and document analysis involving research subjects consisting of class II B homeroom teachers and class II B students at SDN 002 Bagan Besar, Dumai City. The research results showed that there were class II B students who experienced difficulties in reading, such as lack of reading fluency, frequent mistakes, difficulty in distinguishing similar letters, and errors in pronouncing words or sound symbols. The efforts taken by teachers to overcome the reading difficulties of class II students at SDN 002 Bagan Besar, Dumai City, have been quite effective. Teachers use interesting and interactive learning methods, such as picture letter books, and strengthen students' self-confidence and motivation through praise. In addition, teachers do not blame students and provide special remedial programs to improve their reading skills

An Effective Method for Quantitative Interpretation of Seawater Intrusion in Shallow Aquifers from Electrical Resistivity Data

Groundwater in coastal areas is vulnerable to saltwater intrusion. Electrical resistivity is commonly used in order to detect saltwater intrusion due to its ability to distinguish the occurrence of saltwater in the pore water. In this research, a correlational approach was used to estimate percentage seawater content that was mixed with fresh water in a shallow aquifer. The study area was located in Dumai City, which was covered mainly by peat soil, but some areas were covered by sand and silt. A ground surface resistivity survey and direct soil resistivity measurements were used in the study. For both experiments, the Wenner configuration of electrical resistivity was employed. In order to determine the direct soil resistivity values, measurements of the soil's fluid content and character were made. The findings indicate that the resistivity value in the aquifer increased to 5–10 Wm at a 25% seawater content, from roughly 2–5 Wm at a 50% seawater content. The pore soil's rising salt content was the primary source of the sharp decline in resistivity values. By measuring the electrical resistivity on the surface, it is possible to accurately forecast the percentage of seawater mixture in the pore soil fluid.

Collaborative water governance model for potable urban water supply in Riau Province, Indonesia

ABSTRACT The literature suggests that collaborative governance is a promising framework for addressing complex public problems while some cases have also marked failure in its implementation. Furthermore, the complexities and factors of the collaborative governance context must be understood at the early stage, as they may affect its sustainability. Therefore, this study aims to understand ‘what works and what doesn't’ and the need for sustainability of urban potable water management in Dumai City, Rokan Hilir Regency, and Bengkalis Regency through cross-sectoral collaboration and develop the best model to be developed for this collaboration. This study uses a soft system methodology in the urban potable water supply system of Riau Province with a wide range of stakeholders through in-depth interviews, thematic analysis, and the creation of purposeful activity models and rich pictures to uncover and address complex issues. The study found that the implementation of collaborative water management in urban areas with the collaborative water governance approach has worked well in the short term. However, it has not enhanced organizational autonomy or fostered trust and reciprocity dimensions in the long term. Additionally, we emphasize the importance of a collaborative supervisory board that will open internal and external opportunities.

Technology innovation to improve SMEs sustainability

Purpose This study aims to analyze the determinants of small and medium enterprise (SME) sustainability through online marketing technology innovation. Design/methodology/approach The study was conducted through a survey in Siak Regency and Dumai City, Riau Province, Indonesia. The study population is small entrepreneurs doing online marketing. The determination of this survey area is by considering: the use of online marketing technology in this area is relatively more developed than other regions; Siak Regency and Dumai City are very prospective to be used as small business development areas based on online marketing; and the sample was determined by purposive random sampling with the criteria of small entrepreneurs who have tried to do online marketing for at least six months. Based on these criteria, there are 301 small entrepreneurs who conduct online marketing as a sample. Findings The sustainability of SMEs is directly and indirectly influenced by government support, human resource quality, innovation costs, economic conditions and business partners through online marketing technology innovations. Online marketing strategy through targeting, segmentation and positioning marketing strategies. Implementation of online marketing technology innovation models: increased government support; improvement of human resources; provision of innovation cost allocation; government policies in maintaining economic stability; and increase in business partners. Research limitations/implications Limited access to data can limit the interpretation of correlations between the variables studied. This limitation is because the available data is limited to certain periods and certain geographical regions. In addition, research time constraints limit the ability to conduct more in-depth interviews and obtain additional data relevant to the topic being studied. Practical implications Practical implications: 1) Targeting marketing strategy is a staged strategy to select a target market. The target market for SME products is intermediary consumers (agents) and end consumers; 2) Segmenting marketing strategy is a stage strategy to determine market segments. The market segment of SME products is based on consumer characteristics, namely, the local market and markets outside the region. SME product market segments based on consumer response characteristics, namely, market segments based on product benefits and consumer loyalty; 3) Positioning marketing strategy is a strategy for the development stage of each product detail placement and the development of a 4P mix strategy, namely, product, price, place and promotion. Social implications The implementation of this research policy is: increased government support in facilitating online marketing; increased human resources in online marketing; provision of cost allocation of innovation in online marketing; government policy in maintaining economic stability; and increased business partners in online marketing. Model implementation requires mentoring and training through cooperation with business partners. Originality/value The sustainability of SMEs requires online marketing technology innovation. These findings can help provide an alternative solution to the weak resources of SMEs. With the discovery of the determining factor for the sustainability of SMEs, it can accelerate the SME digitalization program.

Implementation of Minister of Transportation Regulation No. 819 of 2018 by the Harbormaster Office and Port Authority: Challenges, Communication Strategies, and Fishermen’s Reactions in Dumai City, Riau Province

The waters of Dumai City, Riau Province, serve as an international transportation route with a strategic position in economic and industrial growth. Minister of Transportation Regulation No. 819 of 2018 was issued to regulate shipping zones and ensure the safety of port service users. However, this regulation has sparked numerous complaints from the public, particularly fishermen, due to livelihood restrictions that directly increase operational costs. To address these negative reactions, the Dumai Port Authority Office (KSOP) plays a significant role by implementing various measures in enforcing Ministerial Regulation No. 819 of 2018. This study aims to understand the communication strategies used by the Dumai Port Authority Office, especially in coordinating with stakeholders. This research uses a qualitative method, gathering data through observation and interviews. The results show that the Dumai Port Authority Office, along with the Class I Dumai Navigation District, PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional, and PT Wilmar Cahaya Asia, has a strategic role with the ability to influence policy direction and implementation. The Dumai Port Authority Office adopts strategies that involve collaboration with strategic partners, annual outreach programs, the distribution of social assistance and life jackets to the fishing community, and cooperation with relevant agencies and government institutions, including the Water Police, to monitor vessels violating regulations. Additionally, KSOP involves the participation of the community and companies, including the certification and standardization of maritime safety instruments. This study contributes to the discussion on the effectiveness of communication strategies in maritime policy implementation, where this approach can enhance understanding and acceptance of regulations within the maritime community.

Program Kuliah Kerja Nyata Dalam Upaya Meningkatkan Mutu Pariwisata Dalam Mengembangkan UMKM Di Teluk Makmur

UMKM have a strategic role and potential, namely being able to absorb strategies that can increase the productivity of tourism quality in development in Teluk Makmur Village, Medang Kampai District, Dumai City. The purpose of this Real Work Lecture Program is to help the community improve the quality of tourism in developing UMKM in Teluk Makmur. The method used is literature and qualitative descriptive. In this Real Work Lecture Program, the development of UMKM and tourism quality is carried out by promotion and advertising on social media platforms so that many people are interested in tourism.

Brand and Country of Origin Towards Consumer Attitudes in Choosing Smartphones

As technology advances, smartphone devices become a fascinating topic for conversation. The growth of multiple smartphone brands as choices appears to be inextricably linked to the relevance of customer attitudes in deciding which smartphone to use. Furthermore, when choosing a smartphone, shoppers consider the product's nation of origin. This study uses a quantitative approach method. Involving the 100-person Dumai City community. The findings of the partial analysis indicate that brands have a positive and significant effect on consumer attitudes and country of origin variables have a positive but not significant effect on consumer attitudes. Brand and country of origin together have a positive and significant effect on consumer attitudes in the Dumai City community. The result of the Determination Coefficient is 21.3%, with the remaining 78.7% impacted by other variables.

Public Services: A Satisfaction Survey of Dumai City Hospital Services

Public service is a frequently discussed issue in Indonesia. However, when it comes to execution, local governments as service providers must consider a variety of factors. Regarding the government-owned regional hospital services that have been operating. One of them is monitoring the public satisfaction index for the services provided by Dumai city hospital. With the expectation that the findings may help policymakers at the regional hospital enhance future services. This article is intended to assess public satisfaction with the services offered by Dumai city hospital. The study used a quantitative technique measuring the Community Satisfaction Index established by the Regulation of the minister of state apparatus empowerment and bureaucratic reform of the republic of Indonesia number 14 of 2017 concerning guidelines for compiling public satisfaction surveys of public service provider units. There are nine items that are measured: requirement, systems mechanisms and procedures, time to completion, fees/rates, product specification type of service, officer behavior, competence of service officers, handling, complaints, suggestions and input, facilities and infrastructure. The study's population represents the entire community that has received services. The sample size was determined using the accidental sampling technique with 100 respondents. A questionnaire has been used for collecting the data required. The research study found that the community satisfaction index was 80.75, and the assessment category service satisfaction was good.

Peran Industri Rumah Pada Usaha Catering Kurnia Jaya Terhadap Pendapatan Karyawan Menurut Presfektif Ekonomi Islam di Kecamatan Medang Kampai Kota Dumai

The research aims to analyze the role of the home industry Catering Kurnia Jaya on employee income and welfare from the perspective of Islamic economics. The research method used is qualitative, involving a population of 10 employees. The subject of the study is the owner of Catering Kurnia Jaya, located in Medang Kampai District, Dumai City. The analysis used in this study includes reduction analysis and triangulation analysis. Data collection techniques include observation and interviews. The results show that Catering Kurnia Jaya significantly contributes to increasing the income and economic well-being of employees' families. This business operates according to Islamic economic principles, emphasizing justice, sustainability, and fair redistribution. Employee income fluctuations occur due to seasonal factors and market competition. This study highlights the importance of household industries in alleviating poverty and enhancing the local economy, with Catering Kurnia Jaya serving as an example of significant contribution to employee income and welfare.

Efforts by the Peatland and Mangrove Restoration Agency to Foster Environmental Awareness Among Students in Dumai City

Forest and peatland fires, as well as coastal abrassion, are environmental issues that require serious attention. This study aims to analyze the efforts made by the Peatland and Mangrove Restoration Agency in building ecological awareness, specifically regarding peatland and mangrove ecosystems. The research employs qualitative methods through interviews, observations, documentation, and literature review. The findings indicate that the Peatland and Mangrove Restoration Agency's efforts to promote environmental awareness involve a collaborative approach to socialization and education. The Agency collaborates with the Dumai City Government, particularly the Department of Education, in the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project (P5). Learning about peatland and mangrove ecosystems is incorporated as a local content highlight in the P5 curriculum. Dumai has even become the first region in Riau Province to launch the P5 Peatland and Mangrove Curriculum. Policy interventions in educational institutions are latent efforts aimed at fostering a love for the environment concerning peatland and mangrove ecosystems and ensuring future conservation. This effort is crucial due to the increasing potential loss of peatland ecosystems in Dumai City as a result of land conversion for industrial areas. Similarly, the problem of abrassion is increasingly alarming due to the degradation of mangrove ecosystems, both from natural causes and human activities.

PENENTUAN KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS DENGAN METODE PERFORMANCE PRISM (STUDI KASUS PROGRAM STUDI TEKNIK INDUSTRI SEKOLAH TINGGI TEKNOLOGI DUMAI)

Dumai College of Technology, as the only Technical Higher Education Institution in Dumai City, continues to be determined to always improve its performance. The Industrial Engineering study program seeks to make improvements to improve the quality of education, besides that it is also necessary to measure performance as an effort to improve performance in every aspect of the study program's performance. This research is related to the performance assessment of the Industrial Engineering study program at the Dumai College of Technology using the Performance Prism method. This method has five aspects, namely top and bottom are stakeholder satisfaction which is obtained from distributing questionnaires and stakeholder contribution which is obtained by interviews which are used to identify study program objectives which are then used to identify strategies, processes and capabilities. Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for the Industrial Engineering Study Program which has been formed from the processes and capabilities that have been identified are 19 KPIs

Urban food security from the perspective of marketing performance of rice agroindustry in Dumai City, Indonesia

Abstract Dumai City is an urban area with a rural economic style, such as the livelihoods of farmers, planters, breeders and fishermen. Even though local rice production shows an increasing trend, the availability of rice for Dumai City is still supported from outside Riau Province. The urban rice agroindustry is present to form an efficient rice marketing performance. This study aims to analyze the availability of rice, marketing channels, and performance in the rice agroindustry in Dumai City. The research method used was a survey method on two agroindustries which were selected purposively based on rice agroindustry criteria. The analytical method used was descriptive qualitative and descriptive quantitative to analyze rice subsistence and marketing channel and also descriptive quantitative to analyze marketing performance of rice agroindustry. The results showed that the rice subsistence level for Dumai City was only 6.7 percent, and the local rice supply for Dumai City was supported outside the province. Based on marketing analysis, the rice agroindustry by Perum Bulog and CV ADAB was included in the efficient marketing category with a total margin value below the selling price of rice, namely Rp. 6,100 and Rp. 1,350, and marketing efficiency values below 30 percent, 10.35 percent, and 2.9 percent. ADAB rice agroindustry with intermediary materials in the form of quality rice from West Sumatra was considered to have more efficient marketing. Implication based on the result is rice agroindustry in Dumai City is worth to develop in order to strenghting food security by local rice production and marketing policy support.

THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN ORGANIC MATERIAL CONTENT IN SEDIMENTS AND THE ABUNDANCE OF EPIPELIC DIATOMS IN THE INTERTIDAL ZONE OF THE WATERS OF DUMAI CITY, RIAU PROVINCE

This research was conducted in March 2023, located in Koneng Beach, Dumai City. The purpose of this study was to determine the organic matter content and abundance of epipelic diatoms vertically and to analyze the relationship between the organic matter content in sediments and the abundance of epipelic diatoms vertically in the intertidal area of Dumai City Waters. The method used is the survey method. The sampling point is determined using a purposive sampling method. Sampling of epipelic diatoms was carried out using a modified corer, which was then brought to the laboratory to identify and calculate the abundance of diatoms and the sediment samples to calculate the content of organic matter and sediment fractions. Water quality measurements accompanied sampling with a brightness value of 0.57 m, temperature of 33 °C, current speed of 0.33 m/s, salinity of 28 ppt, and pH of 8.13. The results of the analysis of organic matter are 2.55 – 13.38%. The results of the sediment fraction analysis show that the research location is dominated by sandy silt. Nineteen genera of epipelic diatoms were found in the waters of Koneng Beach, Dumai City, with abundance values between 5,291–39,983 ind/cm2. The one-way ANOVA test results obtained an average value of 0.000, meaning there is a significant difference in the abundance of epipelic diatoms between the sediment layers. The results of the linear regression test showed that the effect of sediment organic matter on the abundance of epipelic diatoms was 50.85%.
