The study investigated into the stakeholder’s support for the sustainable development of readership promotion campaign (RPC) in the National Library branches in North-west, Nigeria. The objectives of the study were to: find out if stakeholders have been supportive to the RPC, the extent to which they have been supportive to the RPC as well as determine the type of supports received from the stakeholders for the RPC in the National Library. The quantitative research methodology was adopted for the study using the cross-sectional survey design. Total enumeration sampling technique was used to collect data from a total of 20 librarians in the five National Library branches and questionnaire was used as the data collection instrument. The findings of the study reveal that: the stakeholders have been supportive to the RPC, the extent to which the stakeholders have been supportive to the RPC is low and that the major supports received from the stakeholders included: book donation, giving talks or lecture and participation while some other important supports like: funding, media coverage, and cash donations, were not adequately provided nor received. The study concludes that librarians have been receiving supports from stakeholders, but the extent to which the support is received is grossly inadequate. There is therefore the need for librarians to provide more means of encouraging stakeholders on the need for more supports as well as encourage them as community members to engage into the program for an enhanced literacy development and for an effective, efficient and sustained RPC. The study therefore recommends that librarians should be more proactive in enlightening stakeholders on the importance of the RPC and the need for them to be more knowledgeable on the type of supports needed for the sustainable development of RPC in the National Library branches in North-west, Nigeria.
