Students’ Perception of the Use of Cartoon Movie as a Media in Learning Vocabulary at Senior High School

The purpose of this study is to analyse students’ perceptions of the use of cartoon films as a medium in vocabulary learning. The subjects in this study were 36 students in the tenth grade of SMA Negeri 10 Gowa for the 2023/2024 school year using purposive sampling techniques. This study used a qualitative descriptive method. The data collection techniques in this study were interviews and field records. The data analysis techniques used in this study were reducing data, displaying data, and drawing conclusions. Based on the study results, it was shown that the respondents used three aspects of perception, namely the cognitive aspect, the affective aspect and the conative aspect. Of the three aspects, there were two dominant aspects, namely the cognitive and the affective aspects. The results of students’ perceptions show that the use of cartoon movies as a medium in vocabulary learning is very good because students get a lot of new vocabulary, students became aware of word pronunciation and correct word writing, become more happy to learn English, more enthusiastic to learn and remember a lot of new vocabulary.

Improving MSME Performance Through Entrepreneurial Spirit and Business Motivation

A company must have business motivation and a strong entrepreneurial spirit. The aim of this research is to determine respondents' responses regarding the entrepreneurial spirit and motivation of the food processing MSME business in the city of Bandung. The method used in this research is a descriptive and verification method with a quantitative approach. Based on the results of statistical calculations, the magnitude of the path coefficient shows that entrepreneurial spirit has the greatest influence on MSME performance compared to business motivation, which shows that aspects such as self-confidence, courage to take risks, and innovation related to entrepreneurial spirit are more influential in improving performance. MSMEs are more than just business motivation. The dimension of self-confidence emerged as the most dominant aspect of entrepreneurial spirit, while originality (creativity and innovation) was ranked lowest. To improve entrepreneurial performance, individuals should focus on strengthening their originality by cultivating creativity and innovation, while continuously increasing their self-confidence. Business motivation has a positive and significant effect on the performance of MSMEs

Religion is the dominant aspect of Rozanov’s creativity. The main topics of Rozanov’s spiritual search include: God, the world and man are focused around this dominant. The peculiarity of this topics is the explication of intuition of a single whole. This intuition was realized by means of symbols that belong to the world of traditional religions. Rozanov’s creativity actualizes the opportunity of vision of religion as a phenomenon despite the prevalence of images of material things in his texts. This vision is based on a metaphysical foundation of suggestions, examined in the work “On Understanding”, where he understands religion as a temporal undetermined phenomenon. Contact with the world of religion allows us to explicate the human spirit as unity. Rozanov’s vision moves from a description of religion as unity to the description of single images of paganism, Judaism and the Christianity. Rozanov emphasizes this particular content, but his search is inspired by the doctrine of religion as having a certain potency. The realization of this certain potency is the historical development of religions, that conditions the occurrence of new religion in a cultural vacuum, and appears after the distraction of Christianity. The presentiment of metaphysical emptiness is the culmination of Rozanov’s search for God and at the same time the tragedy. Rozanov conceptualizes this intention as the absolutisation of particular things. The transparency of the religious search and the concentration on religion itself makes Rozanov’s position in some aspects close to the narrative of the classic phenomenology of religion. We study the creativity of Rozanov by means of historical-philosophical reconstruction, using elements of hermeneutic analysis.

Internal CSR and the decline of organised labour: a possible elective affinity?

Purpose This paper aims to explore the potential relationship between internal corporate social responsibility (CSR) and the decline of organised labour in countries of the global North. Given the opposing trends since the late 20th century and the widespread adherence of internationally recognised labour standards in CSR codes, standards, and reporting frameworks, questions arise about the disparity between CSR rhetoric and practice regarding the collective rights of in-house employees. The paper further explores the tendency in CSR scholarship to overlook violations of collective rights for in-house employees in the global North. Design/methodology/approach To examine whether there is an elective affinity between the rise of CSR and the decline of organised labour, the paper uses a discursive institutionalism approach, providing a meta-theoretical analysis of academic literature on internal CSR. A scoping review methodology was used to identify relevant literature and compile it into an empirical corpus for a metatheoretical analysis. The empirical corpus, consisting of 38 articles, was generated through a Google Scholar (GS) search guided by the following questions: (1) What are the dominant conceptual framings of internal CSR? (2) What are the dominant roles and practical aspects of internal CSR? Findings The paper identifies two key disparities in the literature: (1) between rhetoric and practice regarding the collective rights of in-house employees in the global North and (2) between the extensive CSR research on violations of collective rights of value chain workers and the limited attention to in-house employees’ collective rights. The analysis highlights two factors contributing to these disparities: the integration of internal CSR into the corporate managerial toolbox and the distinction in CSR discourse between core labour standards and workplace issues. The analysis shows that internal CSR has an elective affinity with the decline of organised labour. Research limitations/implications While scoping reviews are often standalone studies, this paper used the methodology for its stated purpose. Limitations include the broad span of internal CSR across various academic fields and reliance solely on GS. Measures taken to enhance inclusivity were unlimited review period, refined inclusion criteria and keywords during the selection process and cross-checks of cited articles. Social implications Considering the implications of the decline of organised labour on workers’ collective voice, poverty and the distribution gap in wealth and income, this paper suggests that for CSR to play a significant role in advancing sustainable social justice, scholars and practitioners should look at ways to reduce the disparity between rhetoric and practice regarding employees’ voice and collective rights. Originality/value The paper lays the foundation for a better understanding of the potential links between internal CSR and the decline of organised labour. It addresses a gap in the literature on the interrelations between CSR and organised labour in the global North and proposes root causes of this gap. This contribution enriches the scarce literature exploring the potential elective affinity between CSR and transformations in the global economy and labour markets since the late 1980s. Finally, the paper deepens the understanding of the implications of CSR for employees’ collective rights and voice as well as for organised labour.

Analysis of the Form Three Science Textbook on the Aspect of NOS / Analisis Buku Teks Sains Tingkatan Tiga Dari Aspek NOS

The nature of science (NOS) represents a way of viewing the scientific method, encompassing various systematic stages and methodologies in acquiring knowledge and new discoveries. Thus, this study was conducted to identify the aspects of NOS in the Malaysian Science textbook. The analysis focuses on the Form 3 Science textbook, specifically from Chapter 6 to Chapter 10, covering topics such as 'Electricity and Magnetism,' 'Energy and Power,' 'Radioactivity,' 'Space Weather,' and 'Space Exploration.' The study used a document analysis method based on a rubric to assess NOS aspects. Findings were gathered by calculating the frequency of NOS aspects within each chapter. Based on the study's findings and discussion according to these NOS aspects, it was concluded that the textbook is suitable and aligned with the learning levels of Form 3 students. The results of the study show that, empirical, inferential, tentative, scientific theory and scientific law are the dominant aspects of NOS in Form 3 Science textbooks.

Self Control And Self Management Skills (SCSMk) in Patient with Diabetes Melitus

Background: A person with Diabetes Mellitus is faced with various challenges in managing their health condition in order to prevent complications that can arise as a result of their disease. The patient's internal abilities are needed to prevent psychological deterioration which ends in various complications. one of which is Self Control and Self Management Skills (SCSMk) which consists of three aspects, namely self-monitoring, self-evaluation and self-strengthening. This research aims to determine the Self Control and Self Management Skills of Diabetes Mellitus sufferers. Methods: The design of this research is quantitative descriptive. The research sample of 60 people suffering from diabetes mellitus was obtained using a purposive sampling technique taken from a population of 200 diabetes mellitus patients in the area. The instrument in this research is a questionnaire. Data were analyzed using descriptive percentage analysis. Results: Most respondents (73%) have Self Control and Self Management Skills (SCSMk) in the sufficient category Conclusion: Self monitoring is the dominant aspect possessed by respondents. When individuals have good self-monitoring, they can monitor the status and context of their own behavior such as their actions, thoughts and emotions. Respondents try to carry out positive behavior in the form of following instructions in managing diabetes mellitus treatment.

Positive and Negative Gender Role Beliefs and Intimate Partner Violence.

An ethnically diverse sample of 384 male and female undergraduates was assessed for their gender role beliefs based on positive (family responsibility) vs. negative (male dominance and female submissiveness) aspects derived from Hispanic cultural traditions. Negative male and female gender role beliefs were significantly positively correlated with reported victimization by and perpetration of severe intimate partner violence (IPV) for both men and women. Positive male gender role beliefs were negatively correlated with reported victimization by and perpetration of IPV for both men and women, with women also providing some evidence that positive female gender role beliefs were associated with less IPV.

Effect of temperature on the tribological behavior of additively manufactured tool materials in reciprocating sliding against cemented carbide

Additive manufacturing (AM) of ferrous alloys has achieved a technological maturity level that allows for the production of high-performance steel components. Among these alloys, tool steels and maraging steels can be used in die manufacturing for different hot forming processes as both materials have good mechanical properties and thermal stability. In recent years, several works have successfully produced these alloys through selective laser melting, focusing on the optimization and characterization of their microstructure and mechanical properties. However, few studies look into the tribological aspects of these newly produced materials and even fewer consider high temperature friction and wear performance. Therefore, there is a need to understand the high temperature tribological response of tool materials produced by additive manufacturing. In this context, the aim of this work is to investigate the tribological behavior of a tool steel and a maraging steel, both produced by selective laser melting, at different elevated temperatures. A conventionally produced tool steel was used as reference. A reciprocating sliding tribometer was used to perform tests at 40 °C, 200 °C and 400 °C. The counter-body was a WC-Co cemented carbide. Friction and wear of the AM tool steel and reference tool steel were very similar, thus no signs of the AM route having an impact on the tribological behavior were observed. Both tool steels showed reduced wear volume with increasing temperature, while the opposite was observed for their respective WC-Co counter-bodies. Higher temperature also resulted in increased amount of W transferred onto the tool steel wear scars. AM maraging steel showed higher and more unstable friction level, as well as a much larger wear volume at all temperatures; material transfer onto WC-Co was observed at certain temperatures. Overall, tribolayer formation (or lack thereof) was the dominant aspect in the tribological responses.

A dynamic sliding model of hard spherical surfaces on a flat soft plane

This study proposes a dynamic sliding model of hard spherical surfaces on a flat soft plane. For the sphere sliding at velocity v, the dynamic frictional force was described as Fd = λAv using a surface parameter λ and the contact area A. The compressive force was expressed as Pd = λ'A'v using a surface parameter λ' and the sectional area A'. An analytical formula for the sliding motion was derived considering Fd and the drag force Df associated with Pd. The model was validated by comparing the experimental velocities of stainless steel spherical surfaces on a flat polypropylene plate. The model showed all the dominant aspects of the measured velocities during the sliding process.

Zr dopant acting shallow donor and active site in CdS lattice for co-catalyst free photocatalytic H2 evolution

Hydrogen evolution by photocatalysis shows great potential in solar energy conversion process and thus has become an active field of research. Separation efficiency of photogenerated carriers, light absorption and surface reaction are the dominant aspects that affect the photocatalytic hydrogen evolution. Creating traps to prolong the lifetime of photogenerated charge carriers has been widely used but may be considered detrimental if they lead to recombination process of the photogenerated charge carriers. Herein, we design a kind of efficient atomic substitution strategy to create shallow donor for highly efficient hydrogen evolution reaction. The photocatalytic hydrogen evolution reaction rate reaches 3766.9 μmol h−1 g−1, which is about 2.98 times higher of pure CdS. The injected foreign atoms (Zr) not only reduce bandgap to extend light absorption but also generate shallow trap level to reduce recombination of photogenerated carriers. Moreover, the introduced atoms could downshift Fermi level to supply more carriers and act the role as active center to reduce Gibbs free energy, leading to the enhanced hydrogen generation rate and superior stability. This report offers new enlightenment into designing noble-metal free photocatalysts with extraordinary catalytic performance and excellent stability.

Spectral-temporal traits in Sentinel-1 C-band SAR and Sentinel-2 multispectral remote sensing time series for 61 tree species in Central Europe

Tree species maps derived from satellite imagery increasingly support forest administrations and nature conservation authorities with large-scale and up-to-date information. However, many species are often excluded or aggregated in classification tasks due to a limited knowledge of the most suitable predictors. Our study aims to gain a better understanding of optical and polarimetric traits for tree species mapping by examining Sentinel-1 and Sentinel-2 time series from 61 tree species in temperate Europe. For a selection of 32 optical, polarimetric and structural variables, the principal component analysis revealed that Sentinel-2 variables mainly explain the variance in the data by contributing to the “seasonality” and “foliage color” components. Sentinel-1 contribute most to the “texture” component. The Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI), Tasseled Cap Greenness (TCG) and Radar Vegetation Index (RVI) were chosen as key variables for further analysis. Seasonality was found to be the most dominant aspect in all vegetation indices. Furthermore, the TCG was found to be useful to distinguish between early and late budding species. The RVI showed a large potential to discriminate conifers, which is attributed to the crown volume effect of C-band SAR. Using exploratory data analysis, we further examined the influence of management, biogeographical and meteorological factors on the time series from Fagus sylvatica, Pinus sylvestris, and Picea abies. The NDVI and TCG are relatively robust to different conditions. For the two conifer species however, we found strong spatial variations of the RVI which are presumably caused by different crown conditions across the study area. Using Sentinel-1 data could therefore lead to uncertainties in tree species mapping across large biogeographical gradients. This study contributes to the improvement of tree species mapping based on optical and dual-polarimetric data and thus benefits forest authorities and other stakeholders in their monitoring tasks and decision-making.

User Satifsaction of Hospital Management Information Systems Based on PIECES Analysis

Wates General Hospital has conducted computerized inpatient daily census activities through HMIS. In its implementation, inaccurate data problems are still found. The accuracy of information and data generated by the system affects user satisfaction in using HMIS. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze HMIS in the implementation of the daily census of inpatients at Wates Hospital. Analyzing the influence of the PIECES aspects (Performance, Information, Economics, Control, Efficiency, and Service) on the satisfaction of HMIS users in carrying out daily inpatient censuses. The type of research used was quantitative analytic with cross sectional design. The research sample amounted to 72 respondents selected by simple random sampling technique. Data collection used observation and questionnaires with Likert scale. Data analysis in this study used univariate, bivariate, and multivariable analysis. The chi square test results showed that there was a significant influence between the aspects of performance (p=<0.001), information and data (p=<0.001), economic (p=0.016), control and security (<0.001), efficiency (p=0.026), and service (p=<0.001) with HMIS user satisfaction. Logistic regression test results showed that control and security aspects are the most dominant aspects that affect user satisfaction. Aspects of performance, information and data, economic, efficiency, and service had an influence on user satisfaction. The control and security aspect was the most dominant aspect that influenced user satisfaction. It was suggested that the IT department work with vendors to further improve the quality of HMIS security.

Promoting cognitive skills in AI-supported learning environments: the integration of bloom’s taxonomy

ABSTRACT This study introduces a model of Bloom's taxonomy aimed at deepening learners’ cognitive thinking. It investigates the process of questioning and reflection within the structured framework of Bloom's taxonomy and explores how these insights can be applied in students’ utilisation of generative Artificial Intelligence. An experiment was conducted in a Year 5 class at an International Baccalaureate Primary school in Hong Kong, involving 25 students. The findings indicate that Creating and Evaluating were the dominant aspects in the students’ questioning and answering process. However, the skill of ‘Applying’ showed a significantly low influence, suggesting a lack of proficiency in applying AI conversations to other learning areas. This research contributes to the field by providing insights into the integration of generative AI within Bloom's taxonomy. Educators and researches can utilise these findings to enhance critical thinking and learning outcomes through AI integration.

Analysis of The Influence Of Perceive of Benefit, Digital Security, and Perceived Ease of Use on Intention To Purchase Using the Digital Wallet Application

This research aims to determine how the convenience, security, benefits, and rewards of e-wallets influence consumer buying interest. This type of research is descriptive with a quantitative approach. The population in this research is all people who use e-wallets. The sampling technique employed in this study is the accidental sample method. The number of samples in this research was 100. Researchers obtained primary data from this research through interviews and questionnaire results. This research analysis uses several hypothesis tests using Partial Least Squares (PLS). Based on the research results, four dominant aspects have the potential to influence consumer purchasing interest in e-wallets. The ease of use of e-wallets, which enable transactions for various needs with just one application on a smartphone, increases consumer buying interest because it eliminates the need to carry cash, credit cards, or debit cards physically. Although the security factor is a priority, the security offered by e-wallets with security codes or pins does not yet significantly influence consumer buying interest. Financial benefits such as discounts or cashback offered by e-wallets are not the main factors influencing consumer buying interest because other factors, such as payment capacity and the amount of discounts from other non-cash payment instruments, are more significant. Rewards such as discounts and promos provided by e-wallets also do not significantly increase consumer buying interest because they are considered less critical than rewards from other non-cash payment tools.

The authors address the dominant positive aspects of the 4th edition of the textbook in 2 volumes by I. V. Ponkin and A. I. Lapteva “Methodology of scientific research and applied analytics”, noting the substantial value of the publication for the formation of effective practitioners, analysts and legal researchers. The value of addressing the key aspects of the formation of legal thinking, the effective technique of transferring mental activity to specific applied tasks, and the focus on a systematic vision of the problem series is stated. In conclusion, the content orientation of the reviewed original scientific and scientific-instructional publication is noted to introduce the reader to the methodology of legal science and applied legal analytics.

The Content Analysis of Grammar Activities in 'Wider World 2' Student’s Book by Pearson for Grade Seven Students

The objective of this study is to use Bloom's revised taxonomy to analyze the context of the grammar activities in Wider World 2 Student’s Book. To achieve the research goal, a content analysis was performed. The researcher analyzed the textbook based on Bloom's revised taxonomy. According to the data, the textbook has dominant grammar activities, particularly on the cognitive process of "understand" and "remember" with 47% and 32% out of 189 grammar activities. Moreover, the data shows that the grammar activities in the textbook have an uneven distribution of higher and lower cognitive processes. There is a vast lower thinking skills percentage since most grammar activities focus on the "understand" aspect. While the second dominant aspect is "remember" which includes lower thinking skills. Therefore, Wider World 2 Students’ Book highlights Bloom’s revised taxonomy’s lower cognitive thinking process, represented by the “understand” and “remember” thinking processes.

Five major themes in legislative committees' research between 2010 and 2023: A review

AbstractLegislative committees have recently received inadequate attention in the available interjurisdictional literature. This article in the 2024 Policy Studies Yearbook, published by Politics & Policy, reviews legislative committee data categories, methods, and the distribution of authorship to explore how legislative committee research has fared between 2010 and 2023. This review article establishes that since 2010, research on committee structure has been dominated by U.S. congressional theories and how to test them in noncongressional settings. The dominant aspect of legislative organization across the five reviewed themes is the selection of committee members, an essential aspect of understanding power dynamics in modern legislatures. As survey methods and case studies have increased, the archival analysis methods have decreased, indicating an increasing turn to first‐hand primary data in analyzing the internal organization of committees. Difference Of Community Assessment and Perception Marketing Mix (7P) on Service Satisfaction in UNISMA Hospital Malang

Globalization has a big impact on the development of the business world and opportunities for institutions engaged in services. Hospitals are required to find new marketing ideas/strategies in maintaining their existence and improving the quality of services for the creation of patient satisfaction. The lack of promotion of superior hospital products (50%) and the low results of patient satisfaction surveys for services (30%) indicate the need to improve aspects of the marketing mix at Unisma Hospital in Malang. This study aims to analyze public perceptions of the marketing mix (7P) in service satisfaction at Unisma Malang Hospital. This study is in the form of a survey (cross sectional study approach) with 85 respondents selected using the accidental sampling method. The data collection method was carried out through interviews and using a service satisfaction questionnaire containing a marketing mix (7P) component. The results showed that of the 7 aspects of marketing mix there were 2 dominant aspects and there was a need for improvement, namely the promotion aspect where 41 chose the lack of activities made by RSI Unisma as the promotion of RSI Unisma and the process aspect where as many as 54 chose the lack of speed and accuracy of the service. Therefore, based on these problems, it is necessary to improve the hospital marketing strategy and improve the quality of service. The solution to this problem is to promote activities that are under the auspices of the Nahdlatul Ulama as an effort to promote and review services, processes and procedures.

A discursive reading of ideology, dominance and resistance in political texts

The North (or the West) considers itself superior to the South and has thus arrogated to itself the right to ‘guide’ it in many a sphere, something that has gone down badly with some countries in the South, so much so that some of them resist this domination. It is against this background that this paper analyses four texts from the two contending geo-political zones to untangle discursive strategies of positive self-presentation and negative other presentation. Using Teun van Dijk’s (2006) ideological square, the paper analyses the texts concerning aspects of ideology, dominance and resistance. It has been found that Donald Trump and the European Parliament (representing the North), as well as John Pombe Joseph Magufuli and Nicolas Maduro (representing the South), deployed semantic macrostructures, macro-speech acts, the active voice and lexical resources, among others, to do positive self-presentation and negative other-presentation. The paper contends that the two sides deployed the strategies because the North wants to continue dominating and exploiting the South and the South wants to liberate itself from the chain the former placed around its neck centuries ago. About the South’s goal, the paper shows how the South could go it alone, with a bias towards Africa.

An enhanced multi-objective artificial bee colony algorithm with non-dominated sorting strategy

<p>This paper presents an improved metaheuristic technique inspired by the foundational concepts of the artificial bee colony (ABC) algorithm adapted to deal with multi-objective optimization challenges. Our approach combines the main ideas of ABC with a non-dominated sorting strategy including aspects of Pareto dominance, crowding distance, and greedy selection method. Furthermore, the chosen non-dominated solutions are archived in a repository with a static size. The presented approach, multi-objective artificial bee colony (MOABC), is compared to other state-of-the-art algorithms including the non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm II (NSGA II) and the multi-objective particle swarm optimization (MOPSO). MOABC and selected algorithms from the literature are applied to five zitzler-deb-thiele (ZDT) Multi-objective benchmark functions. Then three key metrics are employed for performance evaluations: generational distance (GD), spread (SP), and hypervolume (HV). The simulation results suggest that the proposed method is competitive and presents an effective choice for tackling multi-objective optimization problems.</p>
