To the 75th Anniversary of Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Valery Ivanovich Sergienko

January 5, 2024 marked the 75th anniversary of the birth of Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Valery Ivanovich Sergienko, a leading Russian specialist in the field of physico-chemical medicine.

First Death Anniversary of Prof. Dr. Muhammad Aslam khan (1932-2023)

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Aslamkhan died peacefully on February 20, 2023, in Lahore, Pakistan. Prof. Aslamkhan was the founding head of the Human Genetics and Molecular Biology Department of the University of Health Sciences Lahore (UHS). He was also a Director of Sports and cocurricular activities at the UHS. His services to UHS were brought by the Higher Education Commission’s project entitled “strengthening of basic medical sciences at UHS, ” commonly known as SBMS as a project director. This project not only brought a lot of funding for the establishment of research facilities at the UHS but also employment opportunities for young people. Prof. Aslamkhan received his Doctorate of Science (D.Sc.) in Genetics and Anthropology from Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz, Germany, in 1963, after his master's degree from Punjab University (1953). He was among the founding fellows of the Biological Society of Pakistan (1956) and the Zoological Society of Pakistan (1968). In 1968, he was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, London. Later, the Pakistan Academy of Medical Sciences awarded him a fellowship in 1985. His professional services include academic and research affiliations with the provincial bodies of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and East Pakistan (now Bangladesh). He served as Deputy Chief for the Division of Medical Entomology of the International Center for Medical Research and Training (ICMRT) at the Pakistan Medical Research Center, Lahore. Later, he became the Chief of Malaria Vector Research at ICMRT. This was the time when he studied the bionomics of mosquito species in Pakistan, which serves as a reference (1). While affiliated with the University of Maryland School of Medicine, he extended his research towards vector-borne diseases of public health importance (2-10). After retirement from the University of Maryland, he worked as an independent consultant for several national and international bodies. Later, he joined the Higher Education Commission’s project SBMS as Project Director. During this affiliation, he also launched the first department of Human Genetics in the country at UHS Lahore. This department is still operational and produces many PhDs in human genetics, working at various reputable organizations in and outside the country. The department’s objective was to study the basics of genetic diseases in the country, and it has been doing very well until today. Prof. Aslamkhan’s research on genetic diseases has mainly focused on the role of consanguinity in gene pooling in the Pakistani population (11-13). Over the past several years, he has also voluntarily offered genetic counselling to patients with hemoglobinopathies at Sundas Foundation Lahore. He also studied the public health dynamics of blood donors at the Sundas Foundation in addition to genetic counselling (14, 15). He was also recognized as an Eminent Professor of Genetics by Higher Education Commission. In 2017, he founded The International Journal of Frontier Sciences and became its first editor-in-chief until he died last year. I am publishing this obituary at his first death anniversary on February 20, 2024, praying for his eternal peace. I wish him to rest in peace in his life in hereafter. Ameen!

Military medicine as destiny (to the 70th anniversary of I.Y. Bykov)

The article is devoted to the 70th anniversary of chief research fellow of the Research Institute of Occupational Health Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences Honoured Physician of the Russian Federation, Doctor of medical sciences, Professor Colonel-General of Medical Service Bykov Igor Yurievich and gives an overview of his biography, service and scientific-research activity.

ON THE 100TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE BIRTH OF SERAFIMA ALEXANDROVNA VICHKANOVA (1924‒2017)

The biographical sketch is dedicated to Serafima Alexandrovna Vichkanova (1924–2017), Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor, Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation, who worked in the laboratory of antimicrobial and antiviral agents at the All–Russian Research Institute of Medicinal and Aro-matic Plants (Moscow). The main life stages, the scientific directions being developed and the contribution to the formation and development of the field of studying the antimicrobial properties of plants and substances from them in order to create new effective chemotherapeutic agents for the treatment of viral, bacterial, fungal and other infections, as well as a list of the main scientific works are presented in the article

The anniversary issue of the Russian Journal of Physiсal Anthropology is dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Center for Physical Anthropology of the IEA RAS. We decided to open the issue with an interview of Sergey Vladimirovich Vasiliev, editor-in-chief of the journal and head of the Center. In his frank story, the doctor of historical sciences and candidate of biological sciences will tell the reader about his path to anthropology and about the history of the department, which he had the chance to witness.

The article describes the life path of Valery Varfolomeevich Moshev, the Director of the Institute of Continuum Media Mechanics of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (1986–1993), Professor, Doctor of Technical Sciences, his labor and scientific achievements. His contribution to the organization and development of Perm academic and applied science for the period starting from the 50s of the XX century and up to the present time is described in detail. Recollections of his colleagues, students and friends about V.V. Moshev are given.

About the first head of the Department of Economics and Management, Professor Lin Alexander Alekseevich

The essay is dedicated to Alexander Alekseevich Lin, Professor, Doctor of Pharmaceutical Sciences, the first head of the Department of Economics and Management of the St. Petersburg State Chemical and Pharmaceutical Academy. This essay presents his biography, contribution to pharmaceutical science and education, the results of his work, the most important scientific achievements, as well as information about the scientific, educational, methodological and organizational work of the department, which he headed. Alexander Alekseevich was awarded the prize of the Government of St. Petersburg and the certificate of honor of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation for outstanding achievements in the field of higher education and healthcare, as well as awarded the medal “100 years of Russian trade unions”. His vivid and significant contribution to educational activities and the sphere of public life will remain for a long time in the memory of colleagues, students and everyone who knew him. In our short essay, we used the materials of the department, archival data, bibliographic and abstract databases.

Relationship between osteoporosis and joint pathologies. New approach to treatment of arthritis and osteoarthritis

The article discusses the common pathogenetic mechanisms of the development of osteoporosis and joint diseases. The concept of doctor of medical sciences (habil.), professor V.I. Strukov is presented about the influence of osteoporotic bone cavities on the development of degenerative processes in cartilage tissue. A new approach to the treatment of diseases of the musculoskeletal system using drugs of gonadotropic and osteoimmunological action of the Osteomed group is presented.

Life is like a reservoir into which a scientist who is completely devoted to his work plunges

The article is devoted to the description of the pages of the life and scientific activity of the outstanding Ukrainian scientist N. I. Zagubizhenko, who made a great contribution to the formation of the theoretical base on the enrichment of natural and artificial water bodies with fodder resources in the conditions of the Steppe zone of Ukraine. Being a student of the doctor of biological sciences, professor P. O. Zhuravel [1,2], who believed that the enrichment of the benthic fauna of the Steppe zone of Ukraine can be carried out by introducing animal organisms that are absent in these reservoirs, which are characterized by wide plasticity and high vitality [9,12,15], Nadezhda Ivanovna Zagubizhenko was engaged in the study of the reconstruction of the benthic fauna of the reservoirs of southeastern Ukraine. In connection with the instability of the fodder base of water bodies in the Steppe zone of Ukraine, the question of the introduction of representatives of the estuarine fauna, their habituation and inclusion in the food rations of a number of commercial fish was and remains relevant in the current period of time. According to the nature of nutrition, most acclimatizers are biofilters [9], for which there is a sufficient amount of food in the form of detritus, the remains of higher aquatic vegetation, in most reservoirs of the Steppe zone of Ukraine. The conduct and substantiation of these research works were of a positive nature and have a significant contribution to the scientific base, theory, and practice of enriching water bodies with fodder resources and preserving the environment. The quality of water at all times has been and is one of the main indicators of the standard of living, therefore, all developed societies make every effort to provide the population and economy with a sufficient amount of water of a quality that is adequate to the requirements of the consumer. Most of the water comes from natural sources – rivers, lakes, reservoirs, the water quality of which must not only be assessed, but also predicted. Two main components are responsible for the quality of water in nature – the catchment basin and the ecological system of the water body [6, p. 36]. Each of them is located in certain conditions of geography and climate, characteristic of the region under study, in our research – the Steppe zone of Ukraine.

Professor Alexey Nikolaevich Kuchmin (on the 60th anniversary of his birth)

On July 27, 2023, Alexey Nikolaevich Kuchmin, the Head of the Department of Propaedeutics of Internal Diseases of the Military Medical Academy, named after S. M. Kirov
 doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, and former chief therapist of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, turned 60 years old. A. N. Kuchmin was born on July 27, 1963, in Mineralnye Vody, Stavropol Territory. After graduation, he entered the Faculty of training doctors for the Navy of the Military Medical Academy named after S. M. Kirov, where he graduated with honors in 1986. For 4 years, he served as the Head of the medical center and the infirmary of the Baltic Fleet Naval Aviation. Since 1990, his life and fate have been inextricably linked with the Department of Propaedeutics of Internal Diseases of the Kirov Military Medical Academy, within the walls of which he has passed through a difficult but bright career path from a 3rd-year cadet to an associate Professor, from a teacher to a Professor and Head of the Department. Here, A. N. Kuchmin joined the scientific, pedagogical, and clinical ideas of Professor N. N. Savitsky. Having started his scientific activity under the guidance of Professor Yu. S. Malov, Alexey Nikolaevich devoted himself to the research of the most pressing issues of cardiology, pulmonology, and physiology. After graduating from the adjunct program in 1993 at the Department of Propaedeutics of Internal Diseases of the Academy, A. N. Kuchmin defended his PhD thesis on “The role of salivary glands in maintaining homeostasis in patients with hypertension”. Since that time, he has been a senior resident, then a teacher, associate Professor, and deputy Head of the Department of Propaedeutics of Internal Diseases (for clinical work) since 2005. In 2003, Alexey Nikolaevich defended his doctoral dissertation on cardiac arrhythmias in patients with bronchial asthma. His research interests now include issues in rapidly developing areas, such as endocrinology, ultrasound diagnostics, and functional diagnostics. During his work as the Chief therapist of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, A. N. Kuchmin proved himself to be a competent Head of the therapeutic service of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, particularly during the armed conflict in Abkhazia and Georgia. A. N. Kuchmin’s talent as a clinician and organizer of clinical and expert work was also manifested in his leadership from November 2008 to 2010 in the Department of Therapy of the State Institute of Advanced Training of Doctors of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation and since 2015 in his native Department of Propaedeutics of Internal Diseases of the Military Medical Academy named after S. M. Kirov. In all his positions, Alexey Nikolaevich was and remains a highly professional specialist in his field with several clinical interests and knowledge.

Medieval city of France and Germany: the Сritical Vision of Professor L. M. Berkut

In the article the author makes an attempt to analyze the most common theories of the emergence of a medieval city and the concept by the medievalist Leonid Berkut devoted to this issue. It is shown the his critical vision regarding the historical process of the causes and evolution of a medieval city. X–XI centuries became a turning period in the history of Western Europe. There were significant changes in the development of agriculture, crafts and trade, feudal affairs were completely formed. In addition to these important social phenomena, another significant process began in the development of feudal Europe: along with ancient cities, new medieval cities began to emerge as a concentration of crafts and trade, an administrative- legal and religious center. The medieval city became an essential factor of social development then. How and where, why, under what conditions did the new cities arise? Today there are more than a dozen theories of the origin of the medieval city: Romanistic, patrimonial, market, burg, guild, mark, merchant and their varieties. Each of these theories is debatable. Leonid Nikolaevich Berkut (1879–1940) Ukrainian medieval historian studying the Medieval ages a lecture in Kyiv, Warsaw, Don universities, educator, doctor of historical sciences, professor. He devoted his monographs to the topic: "History of French Cities in the Middle Ages", "The Fate of French Cities in the Middle Ages", "Imperial Privileges and City Rights of the XII century in Germany", "History of German Cities in the Middle Ages”. In his works, the scientist also touched upon the issue of the phenomenon of the emergence of a medieval city. For L.Berkut, the the formation and development of a medieval city in the Western Europe could not be the same (не зрозуміло). The development of the cities depended on many different reasons: the degree of division of labor in agriculture and crafts, trade routes, international relations, cultural and religious institutions (monasteries, bishops’ chairs), the development of law, strategic considerations in the construction of fortresses, the degree of interest of the feudal lord in the growth of cities. Also, one cannot ignore the reasons of the political development of medieval countries: the centralization or decentralization of supreme power. L. Berkut was not only a thorough researcher presented the Western urban schools on the development of a medieval city, but also an active participant in the scientific debates that unfolded on this issue in Ukrainian and Russian historiography of the 20th century.

On the anniversary of Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Olga Silvestrovna Afanasenko

In December 2023, the leading mycologist-phytopathologist of the Russian Federation, head of the laboratory of plant immunity to diseases of the All-Russian Research Institute of Plant Protection (VIZR), Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Olga Silvestrovna Afanasenko celebrates her anniversary. The main direction of O.S. Afanasenko’s work is a comprehensive study of the mechanisms of variability in populations of phytopathogenic fungi, race-forming processes and interorganismal genetics in the pathosystems “cereal crops - hemibiotrophic pathogens”. In cooperation with colleagues from VIR, as well as from specialized institutions of the Russian Federation and foreign countries, research is being carried out to identify genes for resistance of grain crops to the most harmful pathogens.

HIGHER EDUCATION IN CARTOGRAPHY DURING THE YEARS OF INDEPENDENCE OF UKRAINE: STATUS, PROBLEMS AND PROSPECTS

The article is dedicated to the research of the current state, identification of urgent issues, and outlining the nearest prospects for the development of educational services in the field of higher education training in cartography in Ukraine. To achieve the goal, the authors chose a comprehensive set of general scientific and special methods that constitute its methodology: analysis and synthesis, deduction, classification, and informational. A systemic approach has been applied at all stages of the research as a method for effectively organizing the study of the domestic higher education system in cartography. The universities in Ukraine that are currently involved in the training of professionals with higher cartographic education at existing levels have been identified. The indicators of the graduation of cartography specialists from the Department of Geodesy and Cartography at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv from 1992 to the present have been analyzed in terms of quantity (914 individuals in full-time and part-time forms of education), educational degrees obtained (master’s — 440; specialist — 372; bachelor — 102), and gender (407 males and 507 females). Additionally, it was determined that during the investigated period, 41 PhD in geographic cartography were trained in the country, 35 of whom, together with 8 doctors of science, currently contribute to the further training of necessary specialists for the country. The article also characterizes the content of educational programs for cartographers at the bachelor’s and master’s levels, identifies existing problems, and formulates directions for their solution at the institutional and local levels. The main contribution of this research lies in emphasizing the necessity to enhance the quality of education for professionals with higher qualifications in cartography as a strategic specialization and profession for Ukraine, taking into consideration the national security and defense tasks.

ДИНАМІКА КАДРОВОГО ПОТЕНЦІАЛУ СУЧАСНОЇ УКРАЇНСЬКОЇ ЛІНГВОДИДАКТИКИ НА РІВНІ ДОКТОРІВ НАУК

The objective of this article is to investigate the dynamics of the human resources potential of linguodidactic science during Ukraine's independence period in the structure of Doctors of Sciences, with a focus on quantitative and gender-age composition, average age of scientists, and their representation by regions of the country. This analysis aims to identify trends in the evolution of scientific personnel in Ukrainian linguodidactics. The study revealed that the human resources potential of linguodidactic science in the structure of Doctors of Sciences as of March 1, 2024, comprises 44 researchers out of 58 who defended doctoral dissertations during 1985-2023 in the specialty 13.00.02 "Theory and Methodology of Teaching (Ukrainian Language)" in four main directions: 1) in the history of Ukrainian linguodidactics – 2 doctoral studies (3.4%); 2) in the field of preschool and primary linguodidactics – 12 doctoral studies (20.7%); 3) in linguodidactics of basic and specialized secondary education – 19 dissertations (32.8%); 4) in linguodidactics of higher education – 25 dissertations (43.1%). The dynamics of the human resources potential indicate a decrease in the number of Doctors of Sciences actively working. This is caused by a number of factors, including the death of linguodidactic scholars, reaching retirement age, unsatisfactory health conditions, emigration, collaborationism, etc. This leads to the conclusion that the specialty 13.00.02 "Theory and Methodology of Teaching (Ukrainian Language)" is more female-dominated than other scientific specialties. In terms of age structure, Doctors of Sciences of productive age from 41 to 60 years old predominate (61.3%). The overall age range of Doctors of Sciences in Ukrainian linguodidactics engaged in educational and scientific activities varies from 36 to 88 years old. The average age of researchers who defended doctoral dissertations during 2006-2023 decreased by 10 years compared to the average age of scientists who defended doctoral dissertations in 1985-2005.

Jaroslava Folbergrová, Dr.Sc. (1932 – 2024)

Jaroslava Folbergrová, an outstanding scientist, passed away on Sunday, January 28 at the age of 91. She was born in 1932 in Nový Bydžov, Czechoslovakia. She studied biochemistry in Charles University, School of Mathematics and Physics in Prague. She started her scientific carrier with studies of the metabolism of ammonia in the brain. She came to the Institute of Physiology, Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences, Prague, in 1958 and she worked there for incredible 65 years till the very end of her life. All the time she was interested in brain metabolism mostly during and after epileptic seizures – at first in Department of Cytochemistry of Nerve Cell, headed by Zdeněk Lodin, where she defended Ph.D. thesis on the „Effect of methionine sulfoximine on brain metabolism“. She defended her „Doctor of Science (Dr.Sc.)“ thesis in 1990 and continued working in this laboratory till 2000 when she entered Department of Developmental Epileptology of the Institute of Physiology of the Czech Academy of Sciences. Her research was further focused on brain metabolism in relation to epileptic seizures and also to brain hypoxia. Two international collaborations were important for her scientific life: Eighteen months spent in 1965-1967 in Washington University in St. Louis, MO where she worked under the leadership of prof. Oliver Lowry, and longlasting collaboration with prof. Siesjo in Lund University, Sweden. Her stage in prof. Lowry’s Institute resulted in four highly cited papers (including one with 255 citations). Repeated visits in Lund led to nearly 50 primary publications in prestigious international journals (some of these papers also reached more than 200 citations). She progressively extended her field of interest to developing brain and the role of oxidative stress in epileptic seizures and their metabolic and functional consequences. Jarka Folbergrová was fully devoted to her scientific work. It was common to see her leaving the institute in the late afternoon with her notebook and a lot of papers to continue in her work at home. She will be missed in the Institute because she very well represented the tradition both at our country and abroad. She was also very friendly person and an inspiring colleague.

Научное наследие экономико-географа Федорова Геннадия Михайловича

On February 11, 2024, we lost an outstanding economic geographer, mentor, and leader, a person whose name is synonymous with the establishment of the scientific school of socio-economic geography in the Kaliningrad region, recognized by the entire academic community. A graduate of the Faculty of Geography of Leningrad State University, G. M. Fedorov began his career at Kaliningrad State University in 1972, ultimately dedicating nearly 52 years to the institution (now the Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University). Gennady Fedorov mentored a generation of young researchers who continue his work. Dozens of PhDs, researchers and doctors of sciences consider him their teacher. Gennady Fedorov conducted extensive scientific research and organizational work. He was the chairman of the Dissertation Board for Geographical Sciences (I. Kant BFU) and a member of the Herzen RSPU (St. Petersburg). He was part of the Council for Political Sciences (IKBFU), the inspirational force and deputy editor-in-chief of the journal “Baltic Region” (Scopus, WoS, core of RSCI, HAC), deputy chairman of the editorial board of the journal “Regional Studies” (RSCI, HAC), chief editor of the journal “Bulletin of I. Kant BFU. Series: Natural and Medical Sciences,” and a member of the Academic Council of the Russian Geographical Society (RGS). Gennady Fedorov was one of Russia’s most renowned economic geographers, authoring over 550 scientific works, including 70 monographs and textbooks, and developing the scientific concept of the geodemographic situation. He led research projects in the fields of social geography, regional economics, and geopolitics. These included grants from the Russian scientific foundations RFBR and RSF, the Russian Geographical Society, and international projects. In this article, we, his students and followers, have taken on the difficult task of summarizing the main results of Professor G. M. Fedorov’s scientific activity. This task is challenging primarily because his work was so diverse and multifaceted that it cannot be fully captured in a single article. A different format of publication is required for such an endeavor. Here, we will outline the main issues and scientific directions he worked on and present a list of G. M. Fedorov’s most well-known works.

Analysis of research directions in the field of “Water supply and sanitation” in the modern history of the Russian Federation

This article analyzes the results of the work of scientists in the Russian Federation in the field of water supply and sanitation for the historical period of the Russian Federation from 1992 to 2022 inclusive (31 full years). The subject of the research are dissertations for the degree of candidate or doctor of Sciences in the scientific specialty 2.1.4. “Water supply, sewerage, construction systems for the protection of water resources” (05.23.04 to 02/24/2021) in accordance with the nomenclature of scientific specialties. In this paper, we propose a classification of the analyzed works to the main object of research in accordance with the structural part of the water supply and sanitation systems. We explore the intensity of successful defenses of scientific and qualification works by year, the popularity of various areas of scientific research, as well as the rating of Russian cities evaluating relevant scientific works.

The review by a Russian historian examines the collective monograph "Science of a Big Country: Soviet Management Experience", which was published in November 2023 in the publishing house of the Russian State University for the Humanities under the editorship of Doctor of Historical Sciences E. A. Dolgova. The authors (7 people) are specialists in the history of science, industry, technology and education, economics of science, sociology of science and its legal regulation. The book examines the process of formation and development of science and technology policy of the USSR for the entire period of its existence, as well as its transformation in the first decade after the collapse of the "big country" in a multidimensional manner. Particular attention is paid to the consideration of such features of the "socialist model" of science organization as its ideologization, state support of "big science", creation of the "cult of science" in the society, organization of breakthrough programs, scientific and technological independence, merger of science and technology, isolation of academic, university, industry and factory sectors of science. The book emphasizes that science in the USSR functioned in fact as a subsystem of the state, that its management was concentrated in state structures that sought to prove to the whole world "the superiority of the socialist economy over the capitalist economy". The authors did not set themselves the task of examining such important topics as the relationship between science and the authorities, between scientists and the political regime, and the impact of scientific and technological development on the Soviet society. They left out the repressions of the 1930s and the campaign to "fight cosmopolitanism and dissent" in the postwar period. Such an important sector of the field of knowledge as "military" science, which worked to ensure the state defense order, was also peripherally considered. As a source base for the study, the author makes extensive use of act material, office records of state and party authorities of different levels, sources of personal origin, journalism, and periodicals. The monograph introduces into scientific circulation a set of documents and materials identified in a number of Russian federal and departmental archives. The book consists of 9 chapters, conclusion, list of figures and tables, list of abbreviations, selected bibliography, name index and information about the authors. The monograph is an interdisciplinary study. It will be of interest to specialists engaged in the history, sociology and economics of Russian science, industry, technology and education, as well as to a wide range of readers interested in the history of Russia.

НА ПЕРЕТИНІ ІСТОРІОГРАФІЇ, ДЖЕРЕЛОЗНАВСТВА ТА АРХІВІСТИКИ: ДО ЮВІЛЕЮ ДОКТОРКИ ІСТОРИЧНИХ НАУК, ПРОФЕСОРКИ ГАЛИНИ КОЦУР

The article highlights the life and creative path of Halyna Heorhievna Kotsur, doctor of historical sciences, professor, acting head of the department of archival studies and special branches of historical science at Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University, on the occasion of her anniversary. The multifaceted issues of the scientist’s scientific research are analyzed, three main stages of her scientific research activity are singled out, and her contribution to the development of Ukrainian historiography, cultural history, religion, source studies, archeography, and archival science is highlighted. Halyna Heorhievna Kotsur has more than 300 scientific and scientific-methodological works, including 14 individual and collective monographs, more than 40 textbooks and training manuals. She proudly represents the interdepartmental Scientific School of Historiography, Source Studies and Archival Studies of Shevchenko University. Her works are Ukrainian-centric, interdisciplinary in nature and are on the border of many fields of knowledge about history, culture and man. It is noted that H. H. Kotsur is one of the developers and implementers of the Educational Program «Archivistics and Documentation Management», a highly qualified teacher and mentor of student youth, a multifaceted personality, a person of high moral qualities. Her lectures are professionally oriented, creative in nature, based on the latest achievements of historical science and archival science.

ТВОРЧИЙ ШЛЯХ УКРАЇНСЬКОГО ІСТОРИКА: ДО ЮВІЛЕЮ ПРОФЕСОРА ВОЛОДИМИРА КУЧЕРА

The article highlights the life path of Volodymyr Ivanovych Kucher, doctor of historical sciences, professor, chief researcher of the science sector of the Institute of History of Agrarian Science, Education and Technology of the National Scientific Agricultural Library of the National Academy of Sciences of the National Academy of Sciences in connection with the celebration of his 85th anniversary. The directions of the scientist’s research searches at various stages of scientific growth are revealed, among which the problems of the Second World War and Ukraine’s participation in it stand out, as such, which remains a through-and-through topic of fundamental research throughout his life. Interest in the new paradigm of ethno-national development, modeling of the optimal options for the ethno-politics of our state became no less productive; the question of the unity of Ukrainian lands, national liberation struggles. The significant contribution of the scientist to the creation of a source-based database for the study of the history of the development of agricultural research in Ukraine was noted.
