Land suitability evaluation in the Northern Limestone Mountains of Tuban Regency, East Java for torch ginger (Etlingera elatior Smith) cultivation

Torch ginger (Etlingera elatior) is a herbaceous plant from Southeast Asia, traditionally used as herbal medicine by local people due to its antibacterial, antiviral, anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, antioxidant, and anti-cancer properties. Despite its various benefits, this plant has struggled to enter the market because it has not been cultivated on a large scale. Therefore, the opportunity for commercial cultivation of this plant remains wide open. Tuban Regency is a potential agricultural district in Java, strategically positioned on the main road between Central Java Province and East Java Province. Unfortunately, little research has been conducted on land suitability evaluation in Tuban Regency’s agricultural areas. This research aimed to evaluate land suitability for torch ginger cultivation in Tuban Regency. Based on the studies conducted, agricultural land in Tuban Regency is quite fertile, but adequate irrigation is necessary to help the plants survive during the dry season. Torch ginger naturally grows in densely vegetated areas with sufficient water availability. Therefore, cultivating torch ginger in Tuban requires several special treatments, such as maintaining water availability, providing shade and mulch to regulate temperature and humidity, applying phosphorus and organic fertilizers to address phosphorus fixation in limestone soil, and using growth regulators like paclobutrazol to overcome flowering inhibition. From the various literature that has been studied, it was found that the land in the Northern Limestone Mountains of Tuban Regency, is quite fertile and suitable for agricultural land.

The Role of Digital Leadership in The Digitalization Transformation of The East Java District Attorney's Office in Improving Public Services Through The “SI PANDU” Application

Sustainable development that affects all organizations brings a new transformation that prioritizes IT adaptability and effective services. The need for effective and practical life services is the primary need of the global community today. Therefore, digital leaders, in this case, play a critical role in creating a digital transformation strategy at the East Java High Prosecutor's Office in a visionary and targeted manner by creating an application called SI PANDU, which integrates the external and internal operations of the East Java High Prosecutor's Office which also improves the quality of public services. Based on this background, this study aims to review how digital leaders at the High Prosecutor's Office are able to encourage innovation in the emergence of the SI PANDU application as a form of action against the sixteenth SDG's point. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method with a literacy study approach to obtain in-depth results. From this study, the results were also obtained that digital leaders have three indicators mastered to create innovation, namely profoundly understanding people, digitalizing organization and driving and integrating tech trends. These three components exist in the East Java District Attorney's Office so that they can observe trends and follow their development to realise effective public services.

Kebijakan Pengelolaan Sampah Pada TPST3R-GMJB (Tempat Pengelolaan Sampah Terpadu Reduce-Reuse-Recyle Gerakan Muara Jawa Bersih) di Kecamatan Muara Jawa Kabupaten Kutai Kartanegara

This research aims to determine waste management at TPST3R-GMJB in Muara Jawa District, Kutai Kartanegara Regency and factors that inhibit waste management at TPST3R-GMJB in Muara Jawa District, Kutai Kartanegara Regency. This research is a study that produces descriptive data in the form of written words of people and behaviors observed systematically and accurately, directed at the background and the individual holistically (intact) without making comparisons with other variables. Based on the analysis of the results of Waste Management research at TPST3R-GMJB in Muara Jawa District, Kutai Kartanegara Regency, it can be concluded that waste collection activities carried out by TPST3R-GMJB in Muara Java District have not been optimal, waste transportation activities at TPST3R-GMJB in Muara Java District have not run well. The main cause is the supporting factors of transportation activities, namely garbage transport vehicles in poor condition (often damaged), Waste processing activities at TPST3R-GMJB in Muara Jawa District have not been maximized, because most machines / equipment in processing waste have not been supported by better equipment (modern) and the volume produced is also not optimal, the final waste disposal activities carried out by TPST3R-GMJB in Muara Jawa District have not been said to be good, and inhibiting factors for waste management at TPST3R-GMJB in Muara Jawa District, among others, namely waste collection, waste transportation. TPST3R-GMJB garbage transport fleet in the form of dump trucks in poor condition (often damaged), waste processing. The waste processing equipment (machines) at TPST3R-GMJB are still mostly simple equipment and the support of electricity supply to operate the equipment is also not optimal, Final Disposal. Financing and technology that are less supportive in handling waste in landfills (TPA).

The persilan on agroforestry crops system in java production forest

Agroforestry is an agricultural system that integrates primary trees and alternative crops on the same land to provide economic, social, and ecological benefits. One of the agroforestry planting patterns is called Persilan. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the concept of persilan carried out by pesanggem (forest farmers) in several blood types in Java. Researchers observed agroforestry activities in three districts in Java, namely Rembang, Blora, and Tuban. To see agricultural patterns in several regions of Java, we used secondary data studies and Google Maps. In addition, we also collect data through stakeholder surveys to find out the philosophy, land plot, calendar, and ecological function of persilan patterns. The results showed interesting facts related to land parcels in the context of agroforestry which were widely developed in several regions, including Pati, Grobogan, Rembang, Blora, Tuban, to Bojonogoro. Persilan is a form of agriculture where people use Perum Perhutani production forests as their planting land. They plant in the empty parts between the trees by combining primary plants with interstitial plants for 5 years. The concept of Persilan plays a role in maintaining the ecological balance of forests, economic prosperity, and social welfare of local communities.

Modified Pathway to Survival highlights importance of rapid access to quality institutional delivery care to decrease neonatal mortality in Serang and Jember districts, Java, Indonesia.

Three-quarters of births in Indonesia occur in a health facility, yet the neonatal mortality rate remains high at 15 per 1000 live births. The Pathway to Survival (P-to-S) framework of steps needed to return sick neonates and young children to health focuses on caregiver recognition of and care-seeking for severe illness. In view of increased institutional delivery in Indonesia and other low- and middle-income countries, a modified P-to-S is needed to assess the role of maternal complications in neonatal survival. We conducted a retrospective cross-sectional verbal and social autopsy study of all neonatal deaths from June through December 2018, identified by a proven listing method in two districts of Java, Indonesia. We examined care-seeking for maternal complications, delivery place, and place and timing of neonatal illness onset and death. The fatal illnesses of 189/259 (73%) neonates began in their delivery facility (DF), 114/189 (60%) of whom died before discharge. Mothers whose neonate's illness started at their delivery hospital and lower-level DF were more than six times (odds ratio (OR) = 6.5; 95% confidence interval (CI) = 3.4-12.5) and twice (OR = 2.0; 95% CI = 1.01-4.02) as likely to experience a maternal complication as those whose neonates fell fatally ill in the community, and illness started earlier (mean = 0.3 vs 3.6 days; P < 0.001) and death came sooner (3.5 vs 5.3 days; P = 0.06) to neonates whose illness started at any DF. Despite going to the same number of providers/facilities, women with a labour and delivery (L/D) complication who sought care from at least one other provider or facility on route to their DF took longer than those without a complication to reach their DF (median = 3.3 vs 1.3 hours; P = 0.01). Neonates' fatal illness onset in their DF was strongly associated with maternal complications. Mothers with a L/D complication experienced delays in reaching their DF, and nearly half the neonatal deaths occurred in association with a complication, suggesting that mothers with complications first seeking care at a hospital providing emergency maternal and neonatal care might have prevented some deaths. A modified P-to-S highlights the importance of rapid access to quality institutional delivery care in settings where many births occur in facilities and/or there is good care-seeking for L/D complications.

Variasi Bahasa Masyarakat di Kecamatan Pakisjaya Kabupaten Karawang Jawa Barat

This research is motivated by the Karawang area which has several languages ​​used because of the many influencing factors. Differences in community groups are reflected in the variety of languages ​​of the community groups. Language in society is an inseparable unit. Therefore, language becomes an intermediary in order to interact with each other. Language variations that are formed from different usage based on the speakers. The differences that speakers use to communicate in everyday life in society. The purpose of this study was to obtain language variations in Pakisjaya sub-district, Karawang district, West Java. In this research method using description method by analyzing qualitative data. The form of the research is descriptive qualitative which in practice is in the form of a case study. The results of this study are the variations of the language obtained and examples of speakers' utterances that are carried out daily by the community. Then describe the meaning of the conversation used by the Pakisjaya sub-district community, West Java district. There are several factors influencing the occurrence of language variations. Language differences in society that become the existence of language variations.

STRATEGI PEMBANGUNAN KAWASAN PERUMAHAN YANG BERKELANJUTAN DI KOTA BERBATASAN DENGAN KAWASAN METROPOLITAN

The research was conducted with the aim to study and analyze and formulate a strategy for the development of housing areas in the city that borders the metropolitan area of case studies in Jatisampurna Subdistrict. and quantitative descriptive. The analysis technique used is the Analysis of Housing Area Development Policy, Analysis of Housing Area Development and SWOT Analysis to formulate a strategy for building a residential area in a city bordering the Megapolitan area of case studies in Jati Sampurna District. From the results of the analysis of the development of the population in the Central Java District in the next 20 years, the average population growth is 5.05% per year. the population in 2030 is 1.95 times greater than that of the population in 2010, in the sense that normally natural resource requirements will increase ± 1.95 times the land requirement in 2010. Up to the end of the planning year in the 2010-2030 RTRW in the District Jatisampurna, the proportion of unbuilt land still meets the requirements stipulated in Law No. 26 of 2007 concerning Spatial Planning, namely the availability (20% in the form of Public RTH and 10% in Private RTH) covering an area of 74.41 hectares. Problems that then arise in the District Jatisampurna after 2030 was almost said to have no land reserves for development because it only had 74.41 ha left so that the application of flats (Vertical) could meet the availability of land in the District of Jatisampurna which borders the Metropolitan. The recommendation of the research on the development of a residential area in a city bordering the Metropolitan case study in Jatisampurna Subdistrict is an Integrative Strategy, this must carry out its activities by integrating weaknesses and opportunities to overcome weaknesses by taking advantage of opportunities to collaborate with various elements in utilizing resources power incarrying out housing development areas, their location is very strategic and still within the attraction area and directly adjacent to the metropolitan city must carry out housing development that is evenly distributed to the region which can accommodate Horizontal housing needs, namely by Jatiranggon and Jatirangga, optimizing the support of stakeholders' role both by the government city and private sector in carrying out sustainable housing development.

Disparities in Obesity Rates among Adults: Analysis of 514 Districts in Indonesia.

Background: Globally, it was estimated that over 650 million adults 18 years old and older were obese in 2016. It is an increasing global health challenge with a significant health and economic impact. Thus, understanding geographic and socioeconomic disparities in obesity among adults is crucial. Methods: We combined geospatial and quantitative analyses to assess the disparity in obesity across 514 districts in Indonesia. We used the Basic Health Survey (Riskesdas) 2018 for obesity data and the World Bank database for socioeconomic data. Dependent variables included obesity prevalence among all adults (18+ years), males, females, young adults (18–24 years), adults (25–59 years), and older adults (60+ years). Results: We found significant geographic and socioeconomic disparities in adult obesity in Indonesia. In terms of region, districts in Java and Bali had a significantly higher prevalence of obesity than those in Papua, Maluku, and Nusa Tenggara. Districts in Java had 29%, 32%, 60%, and 28% higher prevalence of obesity among all adults, female adults, young adults, and adults. By income, compared to the poorest ones, most affluent districts had a significantly higher prevalence of obesity; they had a 36%, 39%, 34%, 42%, 33%, and 73% higher prevalence of obesity among all adults, males, females, young adults, adults, and older adults. Similarly, by education, compared to the least educated ones, the most educated districts had a significantly higher prevalence of obesity; they had a 34%, 42%, 29%, 36%, and 80% higher prevalence of obesity among all adults, males, females, adults, and older adults. Conclusions: There are significant disparities in adult obesity among 514 districts in Indonesia. Efforts by policymakers and stakeholders are needed to reduce obesity among adults, especially within districts with high prevalence.

Susceptible Vaccine Infected Removed (SVIR) Model for COVID-19 Cases in Indonesia

Analysis of data on COVID-19 cases in Indonesia is shown by using the Susceptible Vaccine Infected Removed (SVIR) in this article. In the previous research, cases in the period March-May 2021 were studied, and the reproduction number was computed based on the Susceptible Infected Removed (SIR) model. The prediction did not agree with the real data. Therefore the objective of this article is to improve the model by adding the vaccine variable leading to the new model called the SVIR model as the novelty of this article. The used data are collected from COVID-19 cases of the Indonesian population published by the Indonesian government from March 2020-April 2022. However, the vaccinated persons with COVID-19 cases have been recorded since January 2022. Therefore the models rely on the period January 2021-March 2022, where the parameters in the SIR and SVIR models are determined in this period. The method used is discretizing the models into linear systems, and these systems are solved by Ordinary Least Square (OLS) for time-dependent parameters. It is assumed that the birth rate and death rate in the considered period are constant. Additionally, individuals who have recovered from COVID-19 will not be infected again, and vaccination is not necessarily twice. Furthermore, individuals who have been vaccinated will not be infected with the COVID-19 virus. The SVIR model has captured 3 waves of COVID-19 cases that are appropriate to the real situation in Indonesia from January 2021-March 2022. Additionally, the reproduction numbers as functions of time have been generated. The fluctuations of reproduction numbers agree with the real data. For further research, different regions such as districts in Java and other islands will also be analyzed as the implication of this research.

ISLAM DI PURWOKERTO AWAL ABAD KE-20 M

The 20th Century was a new phase of Dutch colonialism in Indonesia. The existence of colonialism in Indonesia brought impacts and changes in several aspects such as economic, politic, social, and culture. Some districts in Java run into a transition from a traditional society into a modern one. To muslims, the changes brought another impact. Muslim in some places in Java comonly thrive into a positive progress. It could be seen in the forming of Islamic organization, Islamic pers growth, and modernization of Islamic education. In Purwokerto, in the early 20th century, it grew and became one of the busiest cities in the district of Banyumas residency as well as one of the most important cities in the southern part of Central Java. That growth made a certain impact to Muslim community in Purwokerto. In the early 20th century, they were divided into 4 religious organizations thus are Serikat Islam, Muhammadiyah, Nahdlatul Ulama, dan Ahmadiyah. Besides, the growth of Muslim community in Purwokerto in this era was along with the growth of Christianity and Chatolic community which was introduced by Dutch Colony. Therefore, this research aims to find out had Muslim community in Purwokerto made progress as were in other common district in Java in that era or vice versa? and why?

Satellite-based meteorological drought indicator to support food security in Java Island.

A meteorological drought refers to reduced rainfall conditions and is a great challenge to food security. Information of a meteorological drought in advance is important for taking actions in anticipation of its effects, but this can be difficult for areas with limited or sparse ground observation data available. In this study, a meteorological drought indicator was approached by applying the Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI) to satellite-based precipitation products from multiple sources. The SPI based meteorological drought analysis was then applied to Java Island, in particular to the largest rice-producing districts of Indonesia. A comparison with ground observation data showed that the satellite products accurately described meteorological drought events in Java both spatially and temporally. Meteorological droughts of the eight largest rice-producing districts in Java were modulated by the natural variations in El Niño and a positive-phase Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD). The drought severity was found to be dependent on the intensity of El Niño and a positive-phase IOD that occurs simultaneously, while the duration seems to be modulated more by the positive-phase IOD. The results demonstrate the potential applicability of satellite-based precipitation monitoring to predicting meteorological drought conditions several months in advance and preparing for their effects.

The effects of introduction of the Sulawesi Endemic Stingless Bee Tetragonula cf. biroi from Sulawesi to Java on foraging behavior, natural enemies, and their productivity

The effects of introduction of the Sulawesi Endemic Stingless Bee Tetragonula cf. biroi from Sulawesi to Java on foraging behavior, natural enemies, and their productivity. Biodiversitas 22: 5624-5632. The existence of species in an environment has gone through a long adaptation process to the natural environment. This study aims to determine the behavior of bees, pollen types, natural enemies, and products of the Sulawesi endemic bee Tetragonula cf. biroi in its natural habitat and after being introduced to Java. This research was conducted in North Luwu and Bone District, South Sulawesi, Indonesia, as the native habitat. Purworejo, Magelang, and Bantul District in Java as an introduction site. The observation of foraging behavior was recorded by scan sampling method; pollen identification using the acetolysis method. Natural enemies were observed directly and through interviews with beekeepers. The results showed significant differences in the number of T. cf. biroi that returned to the nest between native and introduced habitats (p value &lt; 0.05). Pollen collected by T. cf. biroi in Sulawesi were more varied in type. The woody plants and tall trees dominate the types of pollen they collect in Sulawesi. The pollen collected in Java was dominated by ornamental plants, intentionally grown as feed. The attack of Small hive beetle and black soldier flies larvae caused the colony of T. cf. biroi to die and not produce honey optimally. Another problem is the T. cf. biroi nest is taken over by the local bee Tetragonula laeviceps.

Temporal emotion work, gender and aspirations of left-behind youth in Indonesian migrant-sending villages

ABSTRACT This paper explores the temporalities and emotions of youth left-behind by migrant parents by using Jennifer Lois’ temporal emotion work as an analytical lens to foreground youth’s management of conflicting feelings by reworking particular experiences of time. We extend Lois’ concepts of ‘sequencing’ (strategic ordering of emotions and time) and ‘savouring’ (intentional maximizing of specific times) to include a contextualized, gendered angle, while also engaging with the additional concept of ‘supressing’. The work draws on qualitative interviews conducted in 2017 with left-behind youth from migrant households from rural migrant-sending villages in two districts in Java, Indonesia. By highlighting youth’s shifting temporal emotions and how aspirations and experiences of left-behindness are affected, our research reveals gendered strategies of temporal emotion work. Young women enact ‘sequencing’ and ‘savouring’, aspiring to stay as a means of restorative, temporal-emotional justice for their families. Conversely, young men are more inclined to enact the ‘suppressing’ of emotions while aspiring for migration. Among a generation that has grown up in the wake of parental migration, most youth conform to traditional gendered scripts within an older culture of masculinized circular migration.

Investigating the Effects of Minimum Wages on Employment, Unemployment and Labour Participation in Java: A Dynamic Spatial Panel Approach

Using district-level data for urban areas in Java, we assess the impact of minimum wages on formal- and informal-sector employment, unemployment and labour participation. We employ the spatial Durbin model for our estimation and allow labour markets to be spatially correlated across districts. Our findings suggest that a minimum-wage rise affects mainly the local labour market where the minimum-wage increase occurs. The spillover effects of a minimum-wage increase on neighbouring districts are negligible, except for the impact on labour participation. The results of this study highlight the need to account for spatial dependence when modelling formal-sector employment, unemployment and labour participation, as we found those variables to be geographically correlated, at least across districts in Java.

The evolution of community forestry through the growth of interlinked community institutions in Java, Indonesia

Abstract Devolving governance from the state to local communities is an increasing trend in forest and natural resource management. Effective local institutions are widely accepted as being key to the success and sustainability of these governance transitions, but there is limited understanding of how different kind of community institutions evolve with community forestry processes. This paper investigates the processes of evolution of three interlinked community institutions in the Hutan Kemasyarakatan (Community Forest) program, referred to in this paper as CF, in Gunungkidul district in Java, Indonesia. CF in this district is further advanced than in other regions in Indonesia. Data from documents, 66 interviews, 2 workshops and other observations were used to analyze CF transition processes involving the evolution of three kinds of interacting community institutions. Results show that the interplay of complex factors (such as starting points, leadership, networks and external support) influenced these processes. Three institutions: forest user groups (Kelompok Tani Hutan), cooperatives (Koperasi) and a CF leaders network (Paguyuban), played different roles in change processes. Community actors, operating in complex and dynamic institutions and receiving support through interaction with external actors, evolve and develop to function effectively. These findings have practical implications for designing institutions to support CF. Achieving the aim expressed by the Government of Indonesia of empowering local people through CF requires a balance between externally-supported local community institutions that often start out poorly developed, and long term strategies to enable communities with limited resources to build capacity to drive CF without external support.

PENGELOLAAN LINGKUNGAN CEKAMAN SALIN UNTUK MENINGKATKAN HASIL PADI

Management of the environment which is gripped by saline is very necessary to increase the yield of rice. The research was carried out in the farmers' land of Indramayu-West Java district in February - July 2019 using a split plot design with 3 replications. The variety used is Inpari 34. The treatment is gypsum dossage and organic matter. The results showed that the management of saline environmental stress by giving gypsum and organic matter did not affect plant growth including the number of tillers, leaf greenness value and yield on rice. Gypsum 1 ton/ha will provide maximum results 2,375 tons/ha dried grain if accompanied by the provision of 4 tons of organic matter/ha. Gypsum 1 ton/ha with organic matter more than 4 tons/ha will reduce rice yield. Gypsum application of 3 tons / ha reaches 2,6792 tons ha without the provision of organic matter.

The effect of intergovernmental transfers on infrastructure spending in Indonesia

This paper examines the impact of own-source revenues and intergovernmental grants on districts’ infrastructure spending in Indonesia. As capacities to generate local revenue are lacking, intergovernmental transfer (IGT) became the main source of local capital spending. This paper uses econometric models to examine the determinants of infrastructure spending. By looking at institutions and economic structure, the study argues for the increasing importance of IGT for local capital spending and shows that specific allocation grants are crucial to ensure local infrastructure spending. This paper calls for a specifically district-tailored IGT fund to accelerate infrastructure development and reduce further regional disparities across Indonesia. This paper contributes to the literature by looking at the effect of IGT on infrastructure spending in different types of regions, including districts in Java, districts with municipality status and metropolitan districts.

Petroleum Fund Pada Pemerintahan Lokal (Study Kasus Inovasi Kebijakan “Dana Abadi Migas” di Bojonegoro)

The Bojonegoro District Government took the initiative to establish the Bojonegoro Petroleum and Natural Gas (Oil and Gas) Endowment Fund. The establishment of this Oil and Gas Endowment Fund aims to ensure the existence of a saving fund for future generations when oil and gas and gas in the region has run out. This idea is in line with the fact that in the long term Bojonegoro will contribute significantly to domestic oil and gas production and also the fact that Bojonegoro has succeeded in alleviating poverty, in one area that was once considered the poorest district in Java. The establishment of the Oil and Gas Endowment Fund is also based on consideration of avoiding the curse of natural resources. Reflecting on the experience of regions rich in natural resources, including oil and gas resources, where the level of human welfare and development is lower than in areas of poor natural resources. The level of social conflict is quite high, environmental damage is quite severe, Dutch desiase, excessive spending (over spending), corruption thrives and more.

DAYA TERIMA PRODUK OLAHAN REMPEYEK DAUN KERSEN (Muntingia calabura L) SEBAGAI SNACK HERBAL MASYARAKAT LOKAL

The amount of food or snacks that contain preservatives or chemicals consumed by the community, therefore, requires innovation and creation in food or herbal snacks made from local raw materials as consumption of the local community. This study aims to determine the acceptability of processed leaves of kersen leaves as a herbal snack for the local community. The method used was Randomized Block Design (RBD) with three samples A (young cherry leaf chips), B (medium cherry leaf chpis), and C (old cherry leaf chips) repeated 3 times. The instruments used were organoleptic test or sensory evaluation, by means of a value-differentiation test and hedonic scale test, with parameters of the quality of crispness, taste, color, and preference. The panel used by 35 untrained panelists namely the public and students as invited guests at the exhibition of products field lecture in Cikedung Indramayu West Java District. From the results of the power test, the kersen leaf chips which has the best percentage is medium-sized kersen leaf processed products with a crisp quality level of 51.42%, flavor (not bitter) 37, 14%, color (slightly brownish) 37.14%, and preference (somewhat like) 45.71%. Therefore, it is necessary to diversify food or snacks especially those that have nutritional value, are easy, economical, made from local resources, and can be used as entrepreneurial opportunities for the community.

The purpose of this study was to determine the marketing strategy of palm oil using a structure, behavior and marketing performance approach to: (1) Analyze the market structure of the palm oil industry in Tanah Jawa District, Simalungun Regency. (2) Analyzing the marketing function so that it is known the behavior of the palm oil market in Tanah Jawa District, Simalungun Regency. (3) Analyzing the margin and farmer share so that the performance of the palm oil industry is known in the Tanah Jawa District of Simalungun Regency. (4) Analysis of the relationship between the structure, behavior and performance of the palm oil industry in Tanah Jawa District, Simalungun Regency. The analytical method used in this research is marketing channel analysis and market structure analysis which is seen from market concentration and market entry barriers. Analysis of market behavior seen from the marketing function, namely the exchange function, physical function and facility functions.
