Closed Ender's nailing was used in 7 fractures of the distal end of the tibial shaft. Two of these fractures were open and six were comminuted fractures. There were five women and two men. The patients ranged in age from 34 to 70 years (median, 51 years). Additional external support after operation in the form of short leg brace (P. T. B. brace) was used in all patients.The patients in our series were followed for a period ranging from 3 to 16 months postoperatively, average 11 months. Valgus angulation was observed in one case, and there was no case of delayed and nonunion. There were no cases of deep wound infection. All patients were a symptomatic in the knee and ankle joints.In the treatment of the distal tibial shaft fractures, intramedullary fixation using Ender nails was a useful method.
