The development of the digital economy is in full swing, becoming the backbone of promoting economic development, which brings severe challenges to enterprises but also brings new opportunities for development. Under this background this paper introduces the digital economy under the background of the achievements of industrial economies, such as by strengthening the development of enterprise economy in the development of innovation path and make digital economy enterprise economy under the background of digital organization, and through the relevant research found that enterprise economy is facing development difficulties, so this paper discusses the digital economy under the background of realistic problems, such as the lack of standardization enterprise economy, enterprise economy lack of digital transformation concept, digital talent, enterprise economic management mode lag and management supervision mechanism. Finally, according to the research on how to develop the innovative development path of enterprise economy under the background of the digital economy, the relevant countermeasures and suggestions for the innovative development of enterprise economy under the background of digital economy are put forward. For example, strengthening innovative paths for the development of key core technologies in enterprise economy and constructing digital organizational forms for enterprise economy in the context of digital economy, hoping to provide effective suggestions for the transformation of enterprise economy to digital economy and the realization of innovative development.

Innovation and Digitalization: Driving Forces for Corporate Competitiveness and Longevity

In the face of rapid technological advancements and market shifts, companies must adapt and enhance their competitiveness to ensure long-term survival. This study explores the impact of innovation, digital transformation, productivity, and employment on organizational competitiveness and their influence on corporate longevity and sustainability in the Bangka Belitung Islands, Indonesia. Employing survey methods and analyzing data using double regression, simple regression, smartPls, and SPSS, the study surveyed 120 respondents from various industrial sectors. The results reveal that innovation, productivity, and jobs significantly and positively impact companies' competitiveness, while digital transformation has a lesser effect. Additionally, the study found that a company's competitiveness positively and significantly influences its existence and survival. The research significantly contributes to understanding the factors affecting competitiveness and long-term viability in the digital economy, highlighting the crucial role of innovation, productivity, and job quality in enhancing competitive advantage. The findings provide a basis for strategic decision-making at the company level and the development of public policies that foster business growth and resilience within the Belitung Framework

Data Value-Added Service Comprehensive Evaluation Method on the Performance of Power System Big Data

With the development of digital economy, the integration and secure sharing of energy big data have become pivotal in driving innovation across the energy production, distribution, and consumption sectors. For power enterprises, leveraging data to enhance operational efficiency and drive business development will play a crucial role in value added. Firstly, based on the value-added service framework system of grid enterprises, this paper explores the basic technologies for power data applications and designs a technical roadmap for value-added services. Secondly, the proposed methodology incorporates the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) and gray comprehensive evaluation method (GCE) to determine the weights of key factors affecting the value-added services. Empirical research is conducted to validate the feasibility of typical value-added services. Additionally, this paper proposes methods for evaluating the benefits of value-added services and identifies key technologies in data mining and management, customer value discovery, and data asset utilization, providing theoretical support and practical pathways for the digital transformation of power enterprises.

Synergistic governance efficiency of industrial pollution and CO2 emissions under the digital economy.

Using panel data for 284 Chinese cities, this study explores the nonlinear relationship between the digital economy and the synergistic governance efficiency of industrial pollution and CO2 emissions (SGEIPCE). The study also investigates the transmission mechanism of two-way knowledge flows within this relationship using the double fixed effect model and two-stage least square method. The results show that the digital economy has a significant U-shaped relationship on the SGEIPCE: the impact first decreases and then increases. When the level of digital economy exceeds infection point, the SGEIPCE increases. The marginal effect identified through the heterogeneity analysis indicates that Chinese cities with high innovative talent agglomeration and low industrial Internet level are the first to cross the inflection point of the U-shaped relationship, and the promoting effect of the digital economy on the SGEIPCE is greater in these two types of cites. Further, when the digital economy crosses the inflection point, it indirectly improves the SGEIPCE by increasing the level of knowledge absorption and knowledge overflow. Knowledge overflow is the most critical transmission mechanism by which China's digital economy affects SGEIPCE. These results provide empirical support and a decision-making basis for promoting the mutually beneficial cooperation between digital economy and industrial synergistic governance.

Researchers in this study aim to determine the Natural Resources-Based Green Trade Model for Green Growth in Brazil, Russia, Indonesia, Singapore, India and China (BRISIC). The method in this research is using the ARDL Panel method. The variables used in this research are Green Growth, Green Trade, Natural Resources, Financial Inclusion, Green Innovation, Digital Economy. The results of this research are from the Green Trade Model Based on Natural Resources on Green Growth in Brazil, Russia, Indonesia, Singapore, India and China (BRISIC) using the panel method, it can be concluded that in BRISIC countries the variable that has an overall influence is green trade. and Natural resources both Short Run Equation and Long Run Equation.

Analysis of IoT Applications in Highly Precise Agriculture Farming

Background: The IoT (Internet of Things) assigns to the capacity of Device-to-Machine (D2M) connections, which is a vital component in the development of the digital economy. IoT integration with a human being enables real-time decision-making in communication, collaboration, and technology analytics. Furthermore, environmental factors impacting plants, such as air humidity, temperature, air quality index, and soil wetness, are not frequently documented, emphasizing the development of a data monitoring system for future agricultural research and development. Methods: An IoT-based Intelligent Farming System is proposed. An innovative IoT-based intelligent farming system is developed that integrates real-time data monitoring, machine learning algorithms, and IoT technology to address the identified gaps and challenges. Result: In the face of climate change, extreme weather, and environmental constraints, increased food demand must be satisfied. Intelligent agriculture enabled by IoT technology can reduce waste and increase productivity for producers and farmers, from fertilizer use to tractor trips. Conclusion: In conclusion, this paper provides insightful and informative commentary on the progress made in technology within the agriculture industry and the challenges that still need to be overcome to achieve optimal outcomes.

AI-Related Disciplines: A Comparative Analysis of Regional Trade Agreements and National Regulatory Approaches

The global digital economy is witnessing the transformative impact of Artificial intelligence (AI), prompting nations to engage in AI-driven trade agreements. Under the digital trade context, these agreements aim to promote and regulate AI technologies, facilitate international AI cooperation, and touch upon data-related disciplines crucial for AI. This article delves into analysing the emerging trend in specific AI disciplines and other AI-related fields, including data provisions in regional trade agreements (RTAs). It also maps out the current landscape of AI regulatory approaches in the United States (US), the European Union (EU), China, and Singapore to analyse how these diverse domestic regulatory approaches may impact regional AI rulemaking. Findings reveal that RTAs emphasize on AI recognition, AI frameworks, and AI cooperation, albeit in a flexible and soft manner. Besides, while the US’s market-driven approach could spearhead rulemaking in AI, its recent policy shifts cast doubt on its comprehensive participation in RTAs. The EU is at the forefront of domestic AI legislation, and seeks to mirror the risk and security-based value at the regional level. China, driven by its massive market potential and concerns about data security, relies on a hybrid approach that explores regulatory strategies alongside AI development. Singapore is notable for taking proactive steps in addressing AI governance through RTAs, which demonstrates a unique form of Asian regionalism. Despite the fragmented approaches among major economies, this article emphasizes on the role of RTAs in addressing trade-related AI issues and puts forward recommendations for AIspecific rulemaking in RTAs.

The nexus between digital economy and tourism eco-efficiency under the environmental regulation: evidence from 277 cities in China

PurposeThis study is of great significance in revealing the interactive and coordinated relationship between tourism development and the ecological environment, improving the level of environmental governance in the process of tourism economic development and realising the dual-carbon goal and sustainable development of the tourism industry.Design/methodology/approachThis paper performs slack-based measure (SBM)-data envelopment analysis (DEA) analysis, benchmark regression and threshold effect measurement on a sample of 277 cities in China from 2011 to 2019, to estimate the impact of the digital economy on tourism eco-efficiency and to identify the moderating role of environmental regulation.FindingsChina’s tourism eco-efficiency shows a spatio-temporal characteristic of steady growth amid fluctuations. The digital economy has a positive facilitating effect on tourism eco-efficiency, which is non-linear with a single threshold effect (0.631), and when the level of the digital economy exceeds the threshold value, its facilitating effect increases from 0.696 to 0.927. Environmental regulation does not play the role of “the icing on the cake” during the digital economy’s impact on tourism eco-efficiency.Originality/valueThis study for the first time includes the digital economy, eco-efficiency and environmental regulation in the research perspective, and analysed the mechanism of action between the three, expanding the depth of research on the digital economy and environmental regulation in the field of tourism. Meanwhile, based on the development needs of policy specialisation and industrial refinement, this study has strong practical significance when conducted at the city level.

THE RELATIONSHIP OF DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION AND VALUE ARCHITECTURE TOWARDS BUSINESS PERFORMANCE IN MANUFACTURING INDUSTRY

The digital economy has become a pivotal force driving nations towards enhanced competitiveness and customer value delivery, with Malaysia being no exception. Despite this imperative, the pace of digital adoption within Malaysian businesses trails considerably behind the global average. This research endeavours to elucidate the intricate relationship between digital transformation, value architecture, and business performance. Employing a quantitative methodology and random sampling technique, data was gathered through a survey questionnaire administered to 150 respondents from the manufacturing sector. Results revealed significant correlations between digital transformation, value architecture, and business performance. Notably, the manufacturing subsector emerges as a significant influencer on both digital transformation and business performance. These findings underscore the widespread acceptance of digital transformation and value architecture within the manufacturing industry as indispensable tools for augmenting business performance. Consequently, the manufacturing sector assumes a pivotal role in driving economic growth and societal advancement, characterized by employment expansion and export stimulation. Moreover, this study advocates for enhanced operational efficiency, aligning with Malaysia’s strategic initiative, My Digital, aimed at catapulting the nation into a high-income, digitally-driven economy.

INFORMATION COMMUNICATIONS AND TECHNOLOGY ENTREPRENEURSHIP SKILLS REQUIRED BY ECONOMICS EDUCATION STUDENTS FOR SELF-EMPLOYMENT

This study examined Information Communications and Technology Entrepreneurship Skills required by Economics Education Students for Self-Employment in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) of Abuja, Nigeria. The study design employed was a descriptive survey. All 510 Economics Education students enrolled in universities in the Federal Capital Territory of Abuja, Nigeria, make up the study's population. Because of the community's unique features and the researchers' adept management of its size, total population sampling was employed. There are 241 female and 269 male pupils in this group. The research questions were answered using mean scores with standard deviations, and the independent t-test was employed to test the hypotheses at the 0.05 significance level. The findings of this study underscore the critical role of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) entrepreneurship skills in equipping Economics Education students for self-employment in the contemporary digital economy and the study conclude that gender does not significantly influence the acquisition or Information and Communication Technology skills required for sustainability. The study recommends that universities offering Economics Education programs should revise their curricula to incorporate ICT entrepreneurship modules. These should include hands-on training in digital skills such as coding, web development, and digital marketing, ensuring that students graduate with practical and market-ready competencies amongst several others.

Digital empowerment and trade-embodied carbon intensity: insights from value-added decomposition in services

Trade-related carbon emissions have emerged as a significant environmental challenge, yet strategies to mitigate their impact remain underexplored. This paper examines the role of digital empowerment in reducing the trade-embodied carbon intensity of services, with a focus on a value-added trade approach. Using panel data from 67 economies spanning from 1995 to 2018, this paper empirically demonstrates that digital empowerment significantly lowers trade-embodied carbon intensity in services. Key mechanisms driving this reduction include scale effects, intra-industry enhancements, and trade structure optimizations. Our findings reveal that both domestic and foreign digital empowerment sources positively impact trade-embodied carbon intensity reduction, with a more pronounced effect in developing economies compared to developed ones. This study advances the understanding of how the digital economy influences the carbon competitiveness of services and provides critical insights for policymakers in crafting service trade and green development strategies.

The relationship between the digital economy and economic growth in Egypt: in a post-COVID-19 world

PurposeOur study aimed to verify the role of the digital economy in economic growth in Egypt and the availability of the technological capabilities of the business sector for digital transformation, based on the negative impact of the epidemic on all economic sectors in the world in general and Egypt in particular.Design/methodology/approachThis was verified based on the standard Error correction package modeling (VECM) study and analysis using Xlstat 2023 and EViews 10.FindingsThe results of the study conducted during the period (1996–2022) showed that there is a co-integration relationship in the short and long term between the impact of the digital economy and economic growth. We found a positive, statistically significant relationship between the variables of mobile phone subscriptions and Internet use that had a strong positive effect. At the same time, trade openness hurt economic growth in the short term. In the long run, both mobile phone subscriptions and trade openness had a significant positive effect, and the speed of adjustment toward equilibrium was very severe, estimated at 4.7 years (1/0.21).Research limitations/implicationsThe work is limited to the economies of Egypt, which is part of Africa. We suggest conducting further research on evidence from other emerging and developed economies.Practical implicationsThe results are of great importance to policymakers in Egypt as an African country, as the estimation results were positive between the digital economy and economic growth in the Egyptian economy, and this is consistent with the endogenous growth model of economic growth, which assumes that knowledge is the main driver of economic growth.Social implicationsThe paper documents the importance of the digital economy in boosting economic growth, which impacts social life more than the traditional digital economy, especially in times of crisis.Originality/valueBased on the existing literature, this paper identified various research gaps. First, no consensus has been reached on the concept of the digital economy, and its index system is inadequate. While existing literature concentrates on examining the influence of ICT on economic development in terms of the number of Internet users, fixed broadband Internet users and mobile subscribers. These measures cannot adequately capture the broader implications of the digital economy. Furthermore, research has largely investigated the significance of digitalization in economic development and reached ambiguous conclusions.

Study on the Influence Mechanism of Government Innovation Preference on the Development of Digital Economy

In recent years, against the escalating global competition and the swift advancement of the digital economy, governments have increased their investment in innovation and adopted a series of policy measures to encourage and support the growth of the digital economy. As one of the key factors driving the development of the digital economy, government innovation preference has received widespread attention for its mechanism and impact effects. Based on the panel data of 270 cities in China from 2012 to 2022, the direct relationship between government innovation preference and the development of digital economy is firstly explored through the fixed effect model, and secondly, The study explores the indirect impact mechanism of government's innovation preference on the digital economy by employing a mediated effect model, with industrial structure upgrading and urban economic density serving as constraint variables. The research reveals that government's innovation preferences play a notable direct role in advancing the digital economy and can also indirectly foster its development through upgrading the industrial structure and enhancing urban economic density.

Public digitalization and enterprise innovation in China’s high-tech listed companies

ABSTRACT The digital economy is deeply embedded in enterprise production and operational processes, promoting the improvement of enterprise innovation. We established a theoretical model to verify the positive relationship between public digitalization and enterprise innovation. Moreover, we considered China’s high-tech listed companies from 2011 to 2019 as a sample to test the research hypothesis. Based on a fixed effects model, we found that public digitalization significantly promotes enterprise innovation input (such as R&D input or R&D personnel), output (represented by patent applications), and efficiency (compared by input and output). By heterogeneity analysis, we find that government digital support is not significant in promoting enterprise innovation. And the promotion effect of public digitalization on enterprise innovation is less evident in the sample of non-high-tech listed companies. An intermediary mechanism test also indicated that public digitalization significantly decreases financing, labour, cooperation, and transaction costs and promotes enterprise innovation. This study clarifies the innovation cost-saving effect of public digitalization in promoting enterprise innovation, which supplements relevant theories. In practice, this study reminds policymakers to pay attention to the creation of a public digital environment.

The Impact of Digital Platforms on Taxation in Uganda: Challenges and Opportunities for the Uganda Revenue Authority

This paper examines the impact of digital platforms on taxation in Uganda, focusing on the challenges and opportunities faced by the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) in adapting to the digital economy. The rapid growth of digital platforms, including e-commerce, mobile money, and online freelancing, has created significant gaps in Uganda’s traditional tax system, making it difficult for the URA to effectively track and tax digital transactions, particularly those that are cross-border or informal. The discussion highlights key challenges such as limited technological capacity, data privacy concerns, and regulatory gaps in taxing digital services. Alongside these challenges, the paper identifies opportunities for Uganda to modernize its tax administration system by leveraging digital tools, data analytics, and global best practices to improve compliance and capture revenue from the growing digital sector. The paper’s findings aim to provide policymakers and stakeholders with practical insights into how Uganda can navigate the complexities of digital taxation and capitalize on the growth of its digital economy.
