This paper refers to the relationship between the fashion system and digital transformation, focusing on fashion streetwear and the Metaverse’s digital worlds. The analysis goes briefly tracing the main stages of the evolution of the digital worlds in recent years, highlighting the points of contact and the contaminations with the material world, which are outlining new connections and unprecedented developments. Fashion industry: exploring the stages of digitalization, innovative potential and prospects of transformation into an environmentally sustainable ecosystem

The study analyzes the stages and prospects of development the digital fashion industry, taking into account the growing raw material and environmental problems. In the course of analysis change the model of its functioning from linear to cyclic, multidisciplinary problems have been identified that it is advisable to solve based on an ecosystem common digital platform. To identify the essence, stages and role of digitalization in the fashion industry transformation, a content analysis of the digital design tools evolution was carried out, the results of which were compared with a historiographical analysis of fashion industry transformation of a post-industrial society. As a result, it was found that the readiness of the fashion industry for transformation depends from the stage of digitalization, from the innovative ecological fashion design development and from the presence of motivated coherence actions among all fashion market subjects, as well as from the formation for them a new style of using clothes. In the course of the study, the structure of digital fashion industry innovative potential was determined as a part of the factors of art-aesthetic, technological, sociocultural, economic, environmental and administrative nature. An approach to managing of the digital fashion industry transformation processes was proposed, based on the balance regulation between processes by redistributing the system total resources to eliminate the "bottleneck" and support the "weak element". Based on the formulated approach, a model of the strategy was proposed for managing the transformation of the fashion industry. The model is based on the decomposition of the main influence factors into relatively independent components, the regrouping of components based on the same nature with the regulation of the balance between these groups by redistributing common resources. 브래들리 워커 톰린(Bradley Walker Tomlin)의 추상표현주의 회화를 응용한 패션디자인 개발 - 번 아웃(Burn-out) 기법을 중심으로 -

본 연구의 목적은 회화를 응용한 새로운 패션디자인의 모티프를 제시하고 울 번 아웃 기법을 응용한 새로 운 패션 소재를 연구하여 사용함으로써 패션디자인의 표현 영역을 확대함에 있다. 연구 방법으로는 관련 전 문서적의 문헌 고찰, 간행물, 선행 연구, 인터넷 사이트를 통해 추상표현주의와 번 아웃 기법을 조사하고, 기존의 컬렉션에서 나타나는 현대 패션의 응용 사례를 고찰했다. 자료는 수록된 자료의 수와 정확한 분류가 이루어진 인터넷 패션 전문 사이트를 중심으로 조사했다. 울 번 아웃 가공의 고찰을 위해 선행 연구된 자료와 실험과정을 통해 효과적으로 표현할 수 있는 약품과 조제 비율, 농도, 탄화 온도를 결정했다. 펠트 니들 펀치 기법은 회화의 색감과 붓 터치 형태를 자연스럽게 표현하기 위해 부분적으로 사용하였다. 이를 토대로 실물 작품의상 4점을 제작하였다. 본 연구를 통해 얻은 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 패션디자인에서 추상표현주의는 새로운 시각을 바탕으로 상호작용하는 영역을 확대함으로써 독창적 디자인의 원천이 될 수 있음을 알 수 있었다. 둘째, 표현 기법으로는 용해제를 묘염기법으로 그려 탄화시키는 울 번 아웃 기법과 펠트 니들 펀치 기법의 부분적 사용으로 브래들리 워커 톰린 회화의 회화적인 붓 터치 이미지 표현을 가능하게 함을 알 수 있었다. 셋째, 톰린 회화에 표현된 조형적 특징을 의상에 표현하기 위해 울 번 아웃 기법과, 부분적으로 펠트 니들 펀치 기법을 활용하여 작품을 제작하였다. 이를 통해 패션디자인의 표현 영역을 넓힐 수 있음을 제시하였다.

Fashion Design Development and Research Based on Brocade Elements of Dai Nationality in China

This research is financed by “ 2022 Postgraduate Education Quality Improvement Project of Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology.(Project code: 120301990132) ”；“ 2022 Beijing Social Science Foundation planning project ” Abstract Based on exploration of artistic features of brocade elements of Dai nationality in Dehong Region, Yunnan Province, China, this paper strives to explore the precious legacies and essential elements in dress culture of national minorities, and extract key elements accumulated by ethnic culture through transition, reproduction and survival to create series fashion designs that meet people’s needs today. Based on common knowledge about brocade fabrics, this paper pays attention to analysis and presentation of design elements of Dai brocade in today’s generally recognized fashion trend. Through integrated basic research and applied research, this paper identifies aesthetic elements in traditional dress culture of national minorities in China on one hand, and strengthens awareness and sense of responsibility for cultural inheritance while exploring new ideas of fashion design on the other hand. ANALISIS PENGEMBANGAN DESAIN FASHION BERKELANJUTAN DI INDONESIA

Analysis of Sustainable Fashion Design Development in Indonesia describes how a design approach strategy can be put into practice to contribute to the development of sustainable fashion. Fashion is an industry that has great potential for Indonesia's creative economy and employment, but on the other hand it has negative social and environmental impacts. Sustainable fashion is a new trend and aesthetic that is developing in urban society. There are various strategies to develop sustainable fashion, one of which is through a design approach. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, this paper further analyzes the implementation of this strategy through purposive sampling of the brand, Sej auh Mata Mem andang, as one of the pioneers of sustainable fashion brand in Indonesia. Based on the results of virtual observations and data analysis, it is concluded that there are six sustainable design strategies carried out by Sejauh Mata Memandang that can be used as references as best practices for developing sustainable fashion design in Indonesia.

3D dynamic fashion design development using digital technology and its potential in online platforms

The purpose of this study is to develop 3D dynamic fashion garments with changeable styles, colors and textile patterns, especially using a 3D virtual simulation system, and to examine their potential possibilities in online fashion platforms. For designing and developing 3D dynamic fashion garments, CLO3D and Aftereffects were used with a design collaboration between a fashion designer and a motion graphic artist group. Ten samples of a ready-to-wear collection were developed to visualize aesthetic and technological explorations of 3D dynamic fashion garments, composed of short videos. This study also evaluated the potential of 3D dynamic fashion garments along with 3D virtual simulation systems through focus group interview with professional fashion designers and digital experts, which indicated social and industrial possibilities toward them. This survey showed a list of findings in terms of current status of 3D virtual simulation systems and their impact on companies, discourses on the uncanny valley surrounding avatars, changes in fashion design process derived from 3D virtual simulation systems, co-design and customization in online platforms, and future prospects of 3D virtual garments in the fashion and gaming industries. Finally, this study led to discussions on future possible digital fashion design with several implications, based on design criteria, including digital technology, dynamic range, wearability, expressivity, interactivity, sustainability, and context.

Development of fashion design applying to costume and Huangping batik of the Chinese minority Miao

The purpose of this study is twofold: First, to develop new sustainable design methods (aligned with ethnic elements and traditional culture) combined with three-dimensional digital clothing technology throughout the design process, which can be presented as guideline materials for various fashion designs to be developed in contemporary sensibilities. Second, it is the intention to produce creative fashion designs by incorporating the characteristics and methods of Miao’s Huangping batik dyeing technique and to present various possibilities in the fashion design field. The overall design characteristics sought by Miao minority are in line with the complex terrain and the ecological and climatic conditions. Miaoist batik dyeing (registered as part of Chinese national intangible cultural heritage) features unique production methods and patterns. The study results are as follows. First, this attempt has enabled understanding of the national costume culture as Chinese Miao’s traditional cultural heritage to be promoted, while the direction of contemporary design development using traditional elements has been presented. Second, the study demonstrated new and innovative expressions and styles relying on three-dimensional digital contouring technology and identified the possibility of developing various designs. Third, it was confirmed that the dyed batik pattern design created by the three-dimensional digital contouring technology could be recombined or expanded as digital printing to express the traditional ethnic designs in a practical manner utilizing digital printing techniques based on traditional characteristics.

Archetypes of Greek Myths in the Fashion Design of the XХI Century from a Metamodern Viewpoint

The purpose of the article consists in clarifying the features of the archetypal structures functioning (in this case – archetypes of Greek myths) in modern fashion design and also in the analysis of the fashion design methodology peculiarities in the condi­tions of metamodernism. The realization of this purpose is planned by developing the meth­od of designing modern clothing, taking into account the principles and characteristics of metamodernism. Research methodology. The complex problem of analyzing the features of fashion design development in the environ­ment of metamodernism is solved based on interdisciplinary system analysis with a combi­nation of subject, historiographic and morpho­logical analyzes.Scientific novelty. For the first time, it was shown that modern design trends, such as in-personal empathy and situational expressiveness, more careful consideration of aesthetic guidelines, psychological attitudes, and user expectations, are most harmoniously reflected in the principles of metamodernism. It was demonstrated that in the conceptual space of the metamodern, the principle of os­cillation corresponds to a choice between two competing primary sources of an image gen­eration in fashion design. The images of Greek mythology gods were chosen as traditional ele­ments of the design project, and prototypes of modern clothing models were chosen as com­petitive elements. Conclusions. As a result of the research, we conclude that in the practice of fashion design, it is expedient to solve the project approach in a balanced way between the factors of the creative source, the personal qualities of the individual, and the archetypes manifested in it. The methods for elements of Greek myths heroes’ images synthesizing with elements-carriers of fashion trends was pro­posed, taking into account the tendencies of metamodernism. Experimental approbation of the research results was carried out by assess­ing the artistic and aesthetic qualities of mod­ern women’s clothing models collection based on Greek myths motives. Thus, the results of the collection design confirmed the feasibility of turning to archetypal forms to find innovative design solutions.

Application of Traditional Embroidery Techniques Aided by Image Design Software in Modern Clothing Design

Embroidery, as a folk craft widely inherited by our country, has experienced thousands of years of cultural accumulation and precipitation, and has a very high artistic achievement. Under the background of economic and cultural development, traditional embroidery has formed a unique and complete art system, which has a high reference value for the application and development of fashion design. Based on the discussion of the artistic characteristics and cultural connotation of traditional embroidery, this paper analyses the application principles and development status of traditional embroidery in modern clothing, and puts forward innovative thinking and design methods of embroidery in modern clothing, uses computer image design software to assist in researching the application of traditional embroidery technology in modern clothing design, with a view to making some exploration, innovation and contribution to inheriting ancient Chinese handicraft and integrating it into modern clothing design.

Development of fashion design applied to costume of the Chinese Minority Xinjiang Uygur

This study aims to develop fashion designs that combine atlas fabric with the characteristics of Uygur costume to modernize the costume of the Xinjiang Uygur. Research contents and methods are as follows. First, based on previous studies, research analysis was conducted on the cultural background, clothing characteristics, and material of Uygur clothing. Second, based on such research contents, designs combining the characteristics of Uygur costume and atlas fabric were presented. Third, to analyze the utilization of atlas fabric and examine fabric characteristics, material was gathered from collections on domestic and foreign web sites. Through field explorations of local museums in the Xinjiang area, minority group culture was observed in more detail. Based on collection of traditional clothing and analysis of its characteristics, fashion designs that apply contemporary trends were developed. General silhouettes without any restrictions to the waist and decorations made using embroidery were often used. Atlas silk, developed in China using Ikat weaving methods, is an important traditional clothing fabric of the minority group Xinjiang. Based on such data collection analysis, the produced works highlighted traditional ethnic characteristics by extracting classical patterns of atlas fabric, modifying or partially expanding them, combining them with hand knitting, and adding contemporary sensations, thus providing confirmations of the possibility of popularizing classic patterns in more practical manners.

Fashion Design is a complex sector, formed by scattered consumers and companies, by non-linear models of production and by dynamic information flow. Sustained by technology pervasiveness fashion designers and fashion consumers create content around fashion brands, beyond the formality of products. New models of consumption fashion push new models of fashion design and should be pushing new models of learning. What kind of learning model can better prepare future professionals to contribute to the sector? This paper hypothesizes that online collaborative environments represent a valid alternative to recognize fashion designers, as fashion consumers, as ‘lifelong’ fashion learners. We confronted the results obtained in previous studies with recent data gathered from providers about consumer behavior on global online and mobile usage and penetration, fashion design sector in Europe and fashion design ‘e-commerce’ worldwide. The results demonstrated that although fashion figured as the most significant eCommerce segment in 2017, fashion design higher education programs offered online are either non-existent or merely transpose the traditional lecture-based education models to online settings. This paper also presents heutagogical principles for fashion design higher education, demonstrating how they could collaborate to bring together fashion consumption, fashion design development, and fashion design learning.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics and symbolism of peony, the traditional noble flower, create knit fashion designer applying the aesthetic beauty of flower, and suggest the various possibility of developing knit fashion design. As for the study method, the study conducted review on literature and previous studies to investigate on history, characteristics, symbolism of peony, and examined various expressive technique through previous studies about fashion design using flower images. To express characteristics of peony in three dimensions, the study investigated and reflected on crochet expressive technique to design 4 women’s knitwear. The results are as below. First, as shape of peony is big, voluminous, fancy and noble, it symbolizes wealth and beauty. Including red which is the generally known color of peony, there are yellow, white, pink, purple, green, blue, black, gray, white purple, white color. This study reflected characteristics and symbolism of peony and created knit fashion design applying abundant aesthetic characteristics of flower. Second, crochet method is advantageous as it is operable with thread and hooked crochet hook without time and space restriction, it can create unique fashion design. Crochet knitting on hand knit can diversity changes to express relief textures, and as there is no limit in size, it can be applied to small props to big pieces. This study suggested the various possibility of knit fashion design development and various expressive possibility on modern fashion design.

The print and digital collections in the RCA archive thus provide a rich resource that informs both contemporary practice and historical research, highlighting in addition issues raised by the increasingly digital access to this documentation for the archivist and the research community.
