Objectives We fundamentally understand the phenomenon that appears in early childhood teachers' digital education experiences and operation cases, and through interviews and in-depth technology, we derived early childhood teachers' digital education use experience and operation and demands for digital education operation, and proposed effective application in the educational field. Methods Seven early childhood teachers with digital education experience at a daycare center in Incheon were selected as research subjects. Research data was collected through focus group interviews from April 25 to 26, 2024, through group face-to-face interaction tailored to the circumstances of the research participants, and phenomenological research methods of interpretation, coding, and classification according to qualitative data analysis procedures. was analyzed. Results The experiences of early childhood teachers using digital education were as follows: ‘educational value of digital media’, ‘role of early childhood teachers in utilizing digital education’, ‘positive experience of digital education’, and ‘digital education that realizes dynamic play’. Digital education operation experience was expressed as ‘classroom environment for digital education operation’, ‘selection and use of digital media’, ‘classroom operation using digital media to develop early childhood teachers’, and ‘digital education influenced by finances’. , The demands for operating digital education include ‘problems and limitations of digital education,’ ‘concerns in the process of operating digital media education,’ ‘plans for the development of digital education,’ and ‘education using digital media where our voices coexist.’ ','Literacy education for a digitally safe world for both children and parents.’ Conclusions The role of an early childhood teacher can be seen as connecting with appropriate digital media, recognizing the importance of linking with the elementary education curriculum, and understanding that the level of class varies depending on the teacher's ability to use digital media. In order to operate digital education in the educational field, professional education and financial support from the government must be supported. Early childhood teachers need a willingness to not focus on the convenience of digital education and an attitude of self-vigilance. When providing digital media to young children, they need to have a balanced perspective by teaching them how to use digital media safely and correctly, as well as the need to prevent addiction and limit time. The significance of the study is that it has derived a direction that should help in the formation of and act as a filter to filter out negative things.

The analysis of this AI interaction highlights the potential and limitations of AI as a collaborative tool in academia, emphasizing the need for critical evaluation and ethical considerations. The findings suggest that this approach can improve efficiency and innovation in educational processes, offering new opportunities for teaching and learning advancement in the AI era. This research contributes to the growing discourse on AI in education and provides practical insights for educators aiming to incorporate AI into their research and pedagogical practices.

Study on the Difference between Urban and Rural Education in Yuyao

As an essential foundation of social equity, educational equity has increasingly become a concern for the people. To make education more accessible to the people based on the current state of educational development in China, it is necessary to address the difference between urban-rural educational disparities. Yuyao located in the southeastern coastal region of China, exhibits disparities in education between urban and rural areas, manifested as imbalances in the educational process influenced by non-fundamental educational resources. This paper conducts a study on an urban school and a rural school in Yuyao through interview surveys, analyzing the differences in hardware conditions and soft power between the two schools, and proposing suggestions for the future development of rural schools based on actual conditions.

Research on the Impact of Geographical Environment on English Learning Based on Machine Learning

College English course is an important basic course in colleges and universities. The purpose of this study is to better understand the influence mechanism of geographical environment on English learning and provide scientific basis for formulating targeted English education policies. This study uses the method of machine learning to analyze the collected data and explore the influence of geographical environment on college students' English learning. This study constructs a comprehensive data set including students' English learning achievements, academic background and geographical location, and obtains the results through computer model analysis. The results show that geographical environment has an influence on college English learning, which will lead to differences in students' English learning achievements. This study suggests that geographical factors should be considered when formulating English education policies. This study is of great significance to promoting the development of English education and improving students' learning effect.

Examination as knowledge development: A case study from vocational education and training

Post-graduate and further education can easily be overlooked as a contribution to collective knowledge and practice development in a field of practice. An overarching theme of this article is how the organisation of a post-graduate and further education initiative can influence collective knowledge in vocational education and training. This article aims to inquire about what teachers and school managers in vocational education and training experience with an examination format where the teachers conduct a university exam at their school, with their management as audience and potential participants. This case study is based on qualitative data from four focus group interviews with teachers and five focus group interviews with school managers at five vocational training schools. The teachers participated in the ‘Vocational Teacher Training Initiative programme’ (YFL) in Norway. ‘The third space’ is used as the overarching theoretical framework. Through a thematic content analysis, the findings were crystalised into three categories. 1) The examination format facilitated a proximity to practice. 2) Knowledge sharing appeared as concrete actions. 3) The examination format revealed new possibilities for co-creation with higher education. The result is that the examination format seemed to function as a bridge between conventional teaching practices in higher education and collective development in vocational education and training. Minor changes in the examination format appeared to open the door to what is termed ‘a third space’ between higher education and schools.

Navigating the new normal: Exploring the evolution of entrepreneurship education in the aftermath of COVID-19

The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly impacted business schools worldwide, prompting the urgent adoption of innovative teaching methods and digital transformation. This study employs an exploratory case study approach, conducting 18 semi-structured interviews to examine the benefits and risks associated with novel teaching modalities in entrepreneurship education. Specifically, the research highlights the effects of COVID-19 on students' social dynamics, their learning experiences and engagement, as well as the digital transformation of teaching within entrepreneurship education. The findings reveal substantial changes in various components of entrepreneurship education during the pandemic, including the emergence of new teaching forms and modalities. Drawing from these insights, the study provides valuable recommendations for future developments in entrepreneurship education. It emphasises the importance of adopting a balanced approach to teaching that leverages the advantages of face-to-face instruction while harnessing digitalisation and innovative teaching methods. By embracing successful elements of digital transformation in entrepreneurship education, higher education institutions can enhance the resilience and adaptability of their entrepreneurship programmes, equipping students for the entrepreneurial journey ahead. This longitudinal study highlights the evolving nature of entrepreneurship education in response to unprecedented challenges.

Determinants of Fertility Intentions among South Koreans: Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.

(1) Background/objectives: This study aims to systematically review and conduct a meta-analysis of factors influencing fertility intentions among South Koreans. This research is crucial given South Korea's lowest-in-the-world fertility rate of 0.72 in 2023, necessitating rapid and effective policies to address this demographic challenge; (2) Methods: Articles published from database inception through April 2024 were collected from five Korean databases using keywords based on the PEO (Population, Exposure, Outcome) framework. Following PRISMA guidelines, 35 articles were selected. The effect sizes and network of predictors related to fertility intention were analyzed using the R statistical package; (3) Results: A meta-analysis of the effect sizes of factors influencing fertility intentions revealed that the husband's involvement in parenting (ESr = 0.131), women's education level (ESr = 0.127), socioeconomic status (ESr = 0.116), and the expected gender of the child (ESr = 0.068) showed statistically significant positive effects. Conversely, women's age (ESr = -0.175), parental stress (ESr = -0.146), and household labor ratio (ESr = -0.117) showed statistically significant negative effects. The network analysis further elucidated the complex interrelationships among these factors; (4) Conclusions: This study suggests the need for multifaceted policy approaches to address Korea's low fertility, emphasizing promoting men's participation in parenting, supporting women's education and career development, reducing parenting stress, supporting work-family balance, and ensuring economic stability. These findings provide important insights for policymakers and researchers addressing the complex issue of low fertility in South Korea and may inform more effective interventions to boost fertility rates.

Exploring the Integration of Chinese Music in Western Musicological Literature: Trends, Gaps, and Multicultural Perspectives

The purpose of the article is to analyse Western musicological literature to identify key trends and gaps in existing research on Chinese music as an integral part of the contemporary multicultural educational space. The research methodology is based on content analysis, comparative analysis, and bibliographic review. The primary method is content analysis, involving a systematic review of academic articles, monographs, reviews, and other publications on Chinese music in Western musicological literature. Comparative analysis is used to compare Western research on Chinese music with scholarly work from China and other countries. Bibliographic review helps to identify scientific gaps and trends in Chinese music research. The scientific novelty of the study lies in the comprehensive analysis of Western musicological literature on Chinese music to reveal key trends and gaps in existing research. The use of content analysis, comparative analysis, and bibliographic review allows for the first systematic organisation and comparison of approaches to studying Chinese music in different cultural contexts. The study also provides new insights into the role of Chinese music in the contemporary multicultural educational space, contributing to its integration and popularisation. Conclusions. Over the past three decades, publications on Chinese music within the context of multicultural music education have been irregular. Although the number of studies is not large, it shows moderate activity in the 1990s and early 2000s, with a noticeable increase after 2007 and periods of decline between 2010 and 2014. This indicates the need for further analysis of the reasons behind this dynamic and a deeper exploration of the integration of Chinese music into the Western educational context. The literature review shows that research covers a broad range of educational contexts, from early childhood to higher education and teacher professional development, indicating the potential for integrating Chinese music at various levels of formal education. The review also reveals that research on Chinese music often has a Eurocentric approach, evaluating it through the lens of Western music theory. This limits the full understanding and integration of Chinese musical traditions, highlighting the need for a deeper and more comprehensive approach that would foster an understanding of Chinese music in its own context.

EPortfolio-based Professional Development: Insights from a Southeast Asian Online Educators’ Community of Practice

This study examines the implementation and impacts of an ePortfolio-based professional learning initiative within a Southeast Asian online community of practice (CoP), part of the SEAMEO-AUS EduLink Project. Targeting the development of educators' competencies in ePortfolio pedagogy, the project engaged 541 educators from various Southeast Asian countries in two online self-paced courses and a series of four expert-led webinars, culminating in a final project webinar. The research utilised course analytics and post-webinar surveys to analyse participant engagement, satisfaction, and perceived learning outcomes. The findings indicate substantial engagement with the courses and positive reception of the webinar series. About 75% of participants completed the asynchronous courses, while 64% found the webinar content immediately applicable to their practice. The webinars, focusing on diverse aspects of ePortfolio use, successfully complement the online courses, with 91% of participants expressing intent to attend future events. This study underscores the effectiveness of combining asynchronous and synchronous learning modalities in professional development, particularly in the context of ePortfolios. It highlights the role of ePortfolios in promoting reflective practice, collaborative learning, and authentic assessment. Additionally, the project's success in fostering a supportive CoP model illustrates the potential of online communities in professional development, especially in regions with emerging ePortfolio practices. The paper concludes by emphasising the value of ePortfolio-based initiatives in enhancing educators' skills and fostering cross-cultural educational collaborations. It offers recommendations for educators and policymakers on implementing similar initiatives, underlining the need for sustainable and contextually sensitive approaches in professional development.

The task of sociologists is to bring order into chaos (interview with RAS corresponding member M. F. Chernysh)

On the eve of the 50th anniversary of the journal Sociological Studies, we turned to Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Sociological Sciences Mikhail F. Chernysh – our long-time author and expert, member of the editorial board – with a request to answer our questions. I wanted to discuss not only the activities of our journal, but also the problems of sociology in general. In recent years, situation in sociology has been changing: alarming trends in sociological education in higher education are intensifying, decisions are being made to reduce the subject of social studies in school, the problem of reproduction of scientific personnel is becoming acute, and discussions about the subject of sociology are becoming more urgent. The interview raises such important issues as the essence of sociology as a science, provides an understanding of its functions and tasks, and outlines the structure and levels of sociological knowledge. Important elements of its existence and development are emphasized, in particular the impossibility of forming an exclusively “national” sociology. The development of sociological education in new conditions is discussed. The tasks of the functioning of the Federal Research Sociological Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences are outlined. Attention is focused on personnel problems in science and the perception of sociology by government institutions.

Reading Comprehension of Learners in a Last-Mile School

Analyzing student’s reading comprehension at a last-mile school can reveal valuable insights into a range of educational and socio-economic development. It is along this premise that this paper aimed to determine the level of Reading Comprehension of Learners in a last-mile school in a fourth-class municipality in Negros Occidental during the School Year 2023-2024 as the basis for a contextualized instructional plan. Data needed for this descriptive study was collected from 119 respondents using a 40-item self-made data-gathering instrument that has passed the rigorous tests of validity and reliability. The ensuing analysis showed that learners’ reading comprehension in a last-mile school was average. In literal, inferential, and applied comprehension, learners were found to be at the average level but at a low level around appreciative comprehension. The result calls for the teachers to create and craft more engaging learning and reading materials that suit the background and interests of learners to encourage them to read more and hone their reading skills. They also need to make sure that despite the distance of where the school is located, learners receive quality instructional material. Understanding EFL teachers’ experiences of ChatGPT-driven collaborative reflective practice through a community of practice lens

ABSTRACT Purpose: Despite the acknowledged impact of generative artificial intelligence chatbot (ChatGPT) in the field of education, further research is necessary to explore the potential of ChatGPT in enhancing the professional growth of English as a foreign language (EFL) teachers. Hence, this study aims to uncover how Iranian EFL teachers’ (four novice and four experienced teachers) ChatGPT-driven collaborative reflective practice (CRP), both independently and collaboratively, can contribute to their professional development. Design/methodology/approach: We adopted a transcendental phenomenology approach which encouraged us to eliminate any biases or preconceived notions we may have had regarding the phenomenon under investigation and analyzed the data thematically. Findings: Findings gathered through group discussions, observations, and semi-structured interviews demonstrated that EFL teachers developed professionally through ChatGPT-driven CRP done individually and collaboratively. Teachers’ individual reflection with ChatGPT served as a complementary preparatory step for contributing insightful perspectives during CRP in the community of practice (CoP). Originality/value: Discussion of findings indicates the ways ChatGPT-driven CRP as a new mode can enhance the quality of language teacher education and professional development programs, especially in disadvantaged contexts where mentors and teacher educators are not always available to provide language teachers with reflective feedback.

Methodological and Practical Basis for the Formation of a Matrix of Attractiveness of Tourist Sites and Its Role in the Process of Implementing Educational Tourism in the Education System of Higher Education Students

The article develops a methodological and practical basis for assessing the attractiveness of regional tourist sites from the point of view of educational tourism. An assessment methodology was created, including groups of criteria and sub-criteria (6 and 53, respectively), selected based on expert evaluation; a matrix was formed, allowing us to calculate integral indicators step by step, which was tested on the example of 50 objects of five regions of Kazakhstan (Central, Northern, Southern, Western and Eastern). In addition, the article implements hierarchical cluster analysis on three blocks of parameters: the first—indicators characterizing the level of education development in the context of 17 regions and 3 cities of republican significance; the second—indicators reflecting the cultural development of the country’s regions; the third—parameters showing the level of development of tourism activities in the regions of Kazakhstan, which allowed us to obtain three clusters that can be used to develop recommendations for the development of education in the regions of Kazakhstan. As a conceptual complementary component of the system of implementation of educational tourism, an audio guide “Tourist sites of Karaganda” was developed and uploaded on the izi.Travel platform.

Analysis of the spatial distribution patterns of education infrastructure development (A case study of 33 regencies/city in North Sumatra Province)

This study explores the spatial distribution pattern of educational infrastructure development across districts and cities in North Sumatra, identifying significant disparities between urban and rural areas. The study aims to: (1) determine the distribution of educational development across districts and cities, (2) analyze global spatial autocorrelation, and (3) identify priority locations for educational development policies in North Sumatra Province. The methodology includes quantile analysis, Moran’s Global Index, and Local Indicators of Spatial Autocorrelation (LISA) using GeoDa software to address spatial autocorrelation. The results indicate that there are nine areas with a low School Participation Rate Index (SPRI), eleven areas with a low School Facilities and Infrastructure Index (SFII), and eleven areas with a low Regional Education Index (REI). Spatial autocorrelation analysis reveals that SFII shows positive spatial autocorrelation, while SPRI and REI exhibit negative spatial autocorrelation, indicating a high level of inequality between regions. Labuhan Batu Selatan and Labuhan Batu are identified as priorities for the provincial government in overseeing educational development policies.

Management of scientific and technological regional development in the Volga Federal District: review of government programs

Relevance. In light of the growing interest in the scientific and technological development of regions, setting goals for scientific and technological advancement at the national level, the issue of developing programs for the development of science and education leading to the technological sovereignty of the country becomes relevant.The purpose is to analyze the ongoing programs for scientific and technological development of the regions of the Volga Federal District, as well as individual indicators characterizing the dynamics of the scientific and educational sector of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation.Objectives: conduct an economic and statistical analysis of the main indicators characterizing the scientific and technological progress of the regions of the Volga Federal District; identify regions of the Volga Federal District in which state programs for scientific and technological development have been developed, and consider their features.Methodology. The study used methods of economic-statistical and comparative analysis.Results. A review of state programs for scientific and technological development shows that four pilot regions of the Volga Federal District (Nizhny Novgorod region, Republic of Tatarstan, Republic of Bashkortostan and Republic of Mordovia) have already developed corresponding programs, and two regions (Orenburg region and Perm Territory) are under development. The remaining regions either have state programs that indirectly indicate the development of scientific and technological potential, or they do not exist.Conclusions. Scientific and technological development programs represent an important document that defines strategic guidelines for the development of science, technology and higher education. Regions that have already developed state programs for scientific and technological development have a high scientific reserve and are located in the top positions in the National Rating of Scientific and Technological Development of Regions. Such regions show strong results in the scientific and educational sector, which contributes to improving the economic and social development of the region. A systematic analysis of these programs makes it possible to identify their impact on various aspects of social life, as well as determine the effectiveness of the measures taken and mechanisms for achieving the set goals. It is important to take into account the variety of approaches to the development and implementation of strategic programs, which should be aimed at the unique characteristics of the country’s regions, their bottlenecks and development prospects, taking into account an assessment of their potential.

Compare the teaching effectiveness and student satisfaction between native Japanese language teachers and non-native Japanese language teachers

This study examines the comparative teaching effectiveness and student satisfaction between native Japanese language teachers (NJLTs) and non-native Japanese language teachers (NNJLTs). Utilizing a sample of 740 students from various educational institutions in Japan, the research employs a quantitative design, including structured questionnaires adapted from established scales. Advanced statistical methods, including factor analysis and multiple regression, were used to analyze the data. The findings reveal no significant differences in student satisfaction and language proficiency between students taught by NJLTs and NNJLTs. Additionally, regression analysis showed that cultural relatability and empathy were not significant predictors of teaching effectiveness, suggesting that factors beyond nativeness influence student outcomes. These results challenge the native-speakerism ideology, highlighting the importance of pedagogical skills, teacher-student rapport, and effective teaching strategies. The study underscores the need for inclusive hiring practices, comprehensive teacher training programs, and collaborative teaching models that leverage the strengths of both NJLTs and NNJLTs. Implications for educational policy, curriculum design, and teacher professional development are discussed, advocating for a balanced approach that values the contributions of both native and non-native teachers. Limitations include the reliance on self-reported data and the specific cultural context of Japan. Future research should explore additional variables, employ longitudinal designs, and utilize mixed-methods approaches to provide a more nuanced understanding of language teaching effectiveness.

The role of mentoring programme coordinator: professional development meta-facilitator?

ABSTRACT This paper addresses an under-researched role in the professional development in education and mentoring in education literature, that of the mentoring programme coordinator. It draws on a multi-method study which includes a review of international research literature and a secondary analysis of existing datasets. The findings synthesise the sparse empirical research on mentoring programme coordinators by identifying key responsibilities associated with the role, together with factors which enhance and impede effective mentoring programme coordination. The findings are discussed in relation to the growing body of literature on professional development facilitators, and it is suggested that mentoring programme coordinators exemplify an original category of professional development meta-facilitators. Implications of the study for policy, practice and further research are presented, including research-informed recommendations for mentoring programme providers and organisational leadership teams who wish to enhance mentoring programme coordination, with a view to strengthening the impact of mentoring programmes and the professional learning and development of the educators such programmes support.

Sociological monitoring of student youth involvement in regional socio-economic development processes in modern Russian society

Student youth is the most creatively active, creative, able to put forward new ideas and implement promising projects social-demographic group of the population of the country and the region. In this regard, the student youth role in the processes of socio-economic development of the region and the country as a whole is key. At the same time, this socio-demographic group requires development and implementation of a clear, systematic, and effective policy in the field of education, culture, socio-economic and professional development, as well as mechanisms of involvement in the processes of regional socio-economic development in order to preserve and further develop human capital. The results of the sociological survey of students of Russian universities and colleges (N = 1.560 thousand people) from all federal districts conducted in 2023 have been presented. According to the sociological monitoring results, it has been revealed that a significant part of students is not purposefully interested in and does not track information about the activities of public authorities and is not involved in the processes of regional socio-economic development. The level of awareness and interaction of student youth with regional youth organizations is low. More than a third of students are not properly informed about the activities of these organizations, and their involvement is no more than 11 %. In order to increase the level of student youth involvement in the processes of regional socio-economic development in modern Russian society, the authors have developed methodological recommendations for engaging activities implementation.
