Employment Problems of Graduates of Chinese-foreign Cooperative Education Programs and Policy Suggestions

The purpose of this study is to analyze the causes of the employment status of graduates of Chinese-foreign cooperative universities and give countermeasure suggestions. With the acceleration of the internationalization of higher education, the development of Sino-foreign cooperative education is deepening in China, and it has also won the favor of many middle-class families because of its unique system of schooling that integrates the advantages of domestic and foreign bilateral education and enhances the employment competitiveness of graduates. However, in 2020, the international challenges of anti-globalization, the impact of major emergency health incidents and the slowdown of the domestic economic development and the structural adjustment of the industry have seriously disrupted the pace of employment of graduates of Chinese-foreign cooperative education and increased the difficulty of employment of graduates of Chinese-foreign cooperative education, which has aroused widespread concern and discussion. This study adopts the method of literature review to explore the specific impact of the education policy of Sino-foreign cooperative education on the career choice and employment pace of college students, which helps to deeply understand the role of the policy of Sino-foreign cooperative education in the career development of college students as well as the attitude of college students towards the phenomenon of slow employment and provides policy makers with suggestions on optimizing the policy of Sino-foreign cooperative education to promote the employment of college students, and at the same time provides important references to the higher education managers to cope with the problem of slow employment of graduates of Sino-foreign cooperative education.

The Impact of Sports Participation on College Students' Learning Outcomes: A Mixed Methods Study based on Multiple Campuses

Plato said: In order for humans to have a successful life, God provides two channels-education and sports. We are increasingly seeing that these two channels are complementary and indispensable. Modern neuroscience research shows that sports can have beneficial effects on brain structure and function, epigenetic regulation of brain tissue, cerebral cortex activity patterns and learning-related psychological factors, thereby improving students' cognitive abilities and academic performance. This study aims to explore the multifaceted effects of sports participation on college students' learning outcomes. A mixed research method was used to collect data in three different types of universities, including a questionnaire survey of 500 students and in-depth interviews with 20 students and 10 faculty members. Quantitative analysis showed that moderate sports participation was significantly related to better academic performance, higher mental health and stronger time management skills. However, excessive participation in physical activities may have a negative impact on study time. Qualitative data further revealed how sport participation enhanced students' self-confidence, teamwork and stress management skills. The study also found that the impact of sports participation varies depending on students' personal backgrounds and the characteristics of their universities. Based on the research results, this article puts forward practical suggestions to promote the balanced development of college students, providing a basis for higher education institutions to formulate relevant policies.

An Empirical Study of Integrating Orff-Schulwerk in Music Classes to Improve College Students' Social Competence in the Post Epidemic Era

As the global epidemic eases, college students face increasing Social-Skills problems, especially when Social-Skills are reduced due to prolonged home isolation. This study investigated the effectiveness of Orff-Schulwerk in enhancing the Social-Skills of college students. Taking students of Z College School in Southern China as the research object, the current social status and needs of college students were analyzed through questionnaires and in-depth interviews. The findings suggest that Orff-Schulwerk significantly improves students' Social-Skills through its unique collective participation and creative expression, especially in enhancing teamwork, communication skills and self-confidence. This study not only provides new perspectives on the application of music education in higher education, but also provides empirical support on how to promote the development of college students' Social-Skills through art education in the post epidemic era.

An Equation Model on the Professional Knowledge and Confidence for Future Employment of Students in Programs Supported With Emerging Technologies

Students enrolled in interdisciplinary programs supported with modern information technologies may face more challenges in learning, because they must learn from at least two curricula, including courses of big data, new media technologies and intelligent platform use, etc. Taking students in these programs as an example, this study aims to investigate relationships among eight variables related to student career development. The research employed the quantitative method of Pearson bivariate analysis, ANOVA and Hayes (2017) regression procedure to test the direct and indirect relationship among variables. The researcher developed a moderated mediation model visualizing the relationship between professional knowledge and confidence for successful employment. Recommendations of early intervention targeting first-year students and different curriculum designing were proposed to facilitate planning in the acquisition of professional knowledge and the establishment of career goals, aiming to enhance the career development and success of tertiary vocational college students.

Asian Pacific Islander Desi American college students and COVID-19-related racial discrimination: Mental health and the moderating role of ethnic identity.

In 2020, the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) triggered the latest wave of anti-Asian discrimination. During the first year of the pandemic, symptoms of depression and anxiety increased seven-fold within Asian Pacific Islander Desi American (APIDA) communities. Among this population, APIDA college students were at particularly high risk for mental health challenges due to COVID-19-related racial discrimination. This study examined the association between COVID-19-related racial discrimination and the mental health of APIDA college students, conceptualizing ethnic identity as a moderator in the association. Secondary analysis was conducted on data from 2,559 APIDA college students aged 18 to 29 who participated in the Fall and Winter/Spring Cohorts of the 2020-2021 Healthy Minds Study (HMS), a non-probability web-based survey administered to students in higher education in the United States. Descriptive statistics, comparative analysis (e.g., Chi-square and t-test), and multivariable linear regression were conducted using STATA 17.1 (StataCorp LLC, College Station, TX). Survey weights were applied in all analyses. There were significant positive associations between COVID-19-related racial discrimination and symptoms of depression (b = 2.15, p < 0.001) and anxiety (b = 1.81, p < 0.001) among the overall sample. Furthermore, a greater sense of ethnic identity was associated with lower symptoms of depression (b = -0.15, p< 0.001) among the overall sample. Finally, ethnic identity buffered the association between COVID-19-related racial discrimination and symptoms of anxiety among East Asian students and symptoms of both depression and anxiety among Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander students. In contrast, ethnic identity intensified the association between COVID-19-related racial discrimination and symptoms of depression among Filipino students. The research found that COVID-19-related racial discrimination was associated with increased symptoms of depression and anxiety among the full sample of APIDA college students during the first year of the pandemic. Additionally, higher levels of ethnic identity were associated with decreased depression among the entire group. The striking results on the moderating role of ethnic identity among subgroups call for further research on the ethnic identity development of APIDA college students, to help mitigate the effects of racial discrimination within a variety of systemic, complex, and dynamic sociocultural contexts.

Implementation of Basketball Education Program Affecting the Personal Development of College Students in Shanghai, China

The study examined the implementation of a basketball education program and its impact on students' skills acquisition, personal development, and educational achievements. The results revealed that the program was moderately implemented across key areas such as coaching/instructional approach, skills training, personal development, and student engagement. While the program proved effective in fostering basketball-related skills acquisition, it showed weaker correlations with students' academic achievements and personal development. A positive relationship was identified between the coaching approach and skills acquisition, suggesting that structured coaching enhances students' technical abilities. However, the program demonstrated a negative correlation between coaching and academic performance, indicating that students may prioritize athletic success over educational growth. Additionally, the findings indicated that other aspects of the program, such as personal development and skills training, had no significant impact on students' broader personal growth or academic achievements. Overall, while the program successfully supports athletic growth, it requires further refinement to enhance its influence on students' educational outcomes and holistic development. The integration of academic support and a stronger focus on personal development could ensure a more balanced approach to fostering student success both on and off the court.

Research on Mental Health Education for College Students from the Perspective of Comprehensive Education

This paper aims to explore mental health education for college students from the perspective of comprehensive education, analyzing the current state of college students' mental health and its influencing factors, while proposing targeted educational goals, content, and methods. Through the analysis of successful case studies, this paper highlights the importance of mental health education in promoting the overall development of college students and looks ahead to future research directions in this field. The findings will provide theoretical support and practical guidance for the practice of mental health education in higher education institutions.

Research on the Education of Career Outlook for College Students in the New Era under the Guidance of Socialist Core Values

Employment has always been a major issue for livelihood. The overall employment situation in China is still severe, especially for college students who have many confusions and misconceptions about employment choices. Career education is not fully adapted to the needs of college students and needs to be addressed through various measures. In the new era, it is even more necessary to integrate the core values of socialism into the career education of college students, so that it can meet the needs of national development, social development, and college student development. This article first points out the necessity and role of socialist core values leading the education of career choices for college students in the new era, and then emphasizes the main content of socialist core values leading the education of career choices in the new era and the need to handle four pairs of relationships well. Research on the influence mechanism of college students' mainstream consciousness leadership under the background of mobile Internet

In recent years, the rapid innovation and popularization of mobile communication and new media technologies have brought about profound changes in the mode of social information dissemination. For college students whose ideological values are still in the critical period of development and change, how to enhance their mainstream ideological leadership in the mobile Internet era and guide the ideological and behavioral development of college students with socialist ideology guided by Marxism has become a common focus of attention in society and academia. At present, the research on the mainstream ideological leadership of college students in the academic community mainly focuses on the negative impact of modern communication technologies such as new media on the ideological work of colleges and universities and the corresponding countermeasures, while the theoretical core and internal composition of the mainstream ideological leadership, as well as the deep impact logic, positive and negative impacts and systematic improvement paths of the technological and social changes in the mobile Internet era on the mainstream ideological leadership of college students are still insufficient. Therefore, this study aims to go beyond the research perspective of traditional college ideological education management, deeply explore the basic connotation and force composition of the mainstream ideological leadership, systematically analyze the deep impact logic of the mobile Internet era on the mainstream ideological leadership of college students, sort out its improvement opportunities, and explore the structural dilemmas in it, and propose a systematic path for improving the mainstream ideological leadership of college students.

Development of Chinese college students’ perception teacher differential behavior scale and its reliability and validity test

ObjectiveTo compile a scale of Chinese college students’ perception of teachers’ differential behavior and to provide a reference for college students to establish correct life values, promote college students’ physical and mental health, and reduce teachers’ differential treatment.MethodsOpen-ended questionnaires and expert interviews were used to conduct interviews and correspondence with 58 college students, ten psychologists, and six psychologists to form an initial questionnaire. Then, the scale’s exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, and reliability and validity test were conducted on 7053 college students from 18 universities in 6 provinces (municipalities directly under the Central Government).ResultsThe Chinese college students’ perception of teachers’ differential behavior scale has two dimensions: teacher prejudice and preference. Each dimension includes three aspects: emotional feedback, behavior orientation, and opportunity privilege, and each aspect have a total of 4 items. The consistency test coefficients of each dimension and each factor of the prepared scale are all above 0.7, and the split-half reliability is above 0.6. Confirmatory factor analysis shows that the six-factor structural model fits well (χ2/df = 4.287, RMSEA = 0.066, CFI = 0.950, TLI = 0.919). Using the generalized anxiety disorder scale and the patient health questionaire-9items as empirical criteria, each factor in the scale demonstrated significant correlations with both the GAD scale and the patient health questionaire-9items.ConclusionsThe Chinese college students’ perception of teachers’ differential behavior scale has a two-dimensional six-factor structure and has good reliability and validity. It can be used as an effective tool to measure Chinese college students’ perceived teacher differential behavior.

How College Students’ Perceived Teachers’ Positive Leadership Enhances Their Creativity? The Mediating Role of Intrinsic Motivation

The development and cultivation of college students’ creativity is a crucial task of global higher education. Therefore, this study aims to explore the influence of college students’ perceived teachers’ positive leadership on creativity through the mediating role of intrinsic motivation from the perspective of cognitive evaluation theory. The data for this study were collected from 511 students in Chinese colleges. The results indicate that college students’ perceived teachers’ positive leadership has a significant positive impact on creativity. Moreover, intrinsic motivation partially mediates the relationship between college students’ perceived teachers’ positive leadership and creativity. The results of this study have vital implications for college administrators and teachers.

Developmental Assets and Their Relationship to Suicidal Behavior in Mexican Young Adults.

Suicide in young people is a public health problem. Typically, protective factors for suicide are not studied; research tends to focus on measuring risk factors. However, knowing the risk factors does not mean that we also know the opposing factors that influence a group's health problems. For this reason, we examined the relationship between developmental assets in Mexican youth aged 18 to 25 years who are not at risk for suicide, exhibit self-injurious behavior, and whose last suicide attempt had low or high lethality. A cross-sectional study of 478 young people (73% female and 27% male) from Mexico City was conducted using an online survey and correlations were tested with dummy variables (groups) and multinomial logistic regression. The no-risk group showed associations with all developmental assets, the self-injurious group had an association with the house rules variable, the low lethality group was correlated with twelve assets and the high lethality group with four assets. Four internal developmental strengths were significant in the regression model: avoidance of risk behaviors, school expectations, resistance to pressure, and expression of anger. These results suggest that PYD is a useful framework for examining suicide risk and promotes skill development in young college students.

In the context of the digital age, the internet has essentially become a part of college students lives. Through a comprehensive review, this study systematically summarizes the psychological issues such as anxiety, depression, and feelings of loneliness, as well as physical health problems like neck and back pain, caused by digital technology among college students. It also proposes several positive measures generated by digital technology, such as virtual tourism, online yoga, and digital mindfulness interventions, to enhance college students digital well-being and promote their physical and mental health development. Future research needs to further adopt human-centered, longitudinal, and follow-up research methods to explore the bidirectional impacts of the internet and clarify measures to balance the advantages and disadvantages of digital technology.

Research and Practice on Promoting the Comprehensive Quality and Multidimensional Ability Development of College Students through Physics Academic Competition

With the development of society, the cultivation of comprehensive qualities and multi-dimensional ability among college students has received increasing attention. The Physics Academic Competition as the most participated and largest debate-style Physics Academic Competition among undergraduate students nationwide plays a key role. This paper explores its competition questions and competition models and their roles and significance. Through the drive of interest and curiosity, it not only helps to cultivate the comprehensive practical ability of college students in analyzing and solving real-world situations based on physics knowledge but also contributes to the deep understanding, systematic and structuring of physics subject knowledge. At the same time, it also promotes college students’ independent thinking, independent inquiry, literature review, commonly used scientific research and office software skills mastering, collaborative innovation ability, interpersonal communication ability, and stimulates leadership among college students. In addition, it helps to improve the ability to express academic views, argue and comment smoothly. After the competition, the scientific research expansion training has further improved the coordinated development of students’ scientific research literacy and multi-dimensional ability. This research may boost the innovation and reform of physics teaching resources and modes in higher education under the background of digital intelligence.

Understanding the relationship between smartphone distraction, social withdrawal, digital stress, and depression among college students: A cross-sectional study in Wuhan, China

BackgroundSmartphone distraction considerably affects the depression level of college students. These two variables are highly associated with social withdrawal and digital distress. However, the underlying mechanisms of how social withdrawal and digital stress were involved in the relationship between smartphone distraction and depression remain unclear. MethodsA cross-sectional survey was conducted in seven colleges of Wuhan, Hubei Province, from September to November 2021. Participants were selected using convenience sampling. Smartphone distraction, social withdrawal, digital stress, and depression level were assessed using the Smartphone Distraction Scale (SDS), 25-item Hikikomori Questionnaire (HQ-25), Multidimensional Digital Stress Scale (DSS), and the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9), respectively. All scales demonstrated good reliability in this study, the reliability of each scale was 0.920, 0.884, 0.959, and 0.942. ResultsThe final analysis included 1184 students (692 males and 492 females), aged between 17 and 37 years. Participants were from various academic disciplines, including medical and non-medical. The findings revealed that smartphone distraction had a significant direct effect on depression (c = 0.073, 95 % CI: 0.037 to 0.108, p < 0.001) and three significant indirect mediation effects: (1) social withdrawal (B = 0.083, 95 % CI: 0.066 to 0.101, p < 0.001), accounting for 27.76 % of the total effect; (2) digital stress (B = 0.109, 95 % CI: 0.088 to 0.132, p < 0.001), accounting for 36.45 % of the total effect; and (3) the chain mediating roles of social withdrawal and digital stress (B = 0.034, 95 % CI: 0.026 to 0.043, p < 0.001), accounting for 11.37 % of the total effect. The total mediating effect was 75.59 %. LimitationsThis study is based on cross-sectional data, which limits the causality inference. ConclusionsThese findings suggest that educational institutions should identify college students with excessive smartphone use early and provide timely interventions to minimize negative outcomes. It is also significant to reduce the risk of social withdrawal and digital stress to maintain the physical and mental health development of college students.

Implementation of the Physica Education Curriculum and Physical Literacy of the College Students in China

With the rapid economic development and improved living standards in China, health and physical activity have gained increasing importance. Physical Education (PE) courses, as a vital component of higher education, play a crucial role in cultivating well-rounded talents with robust physical health. However, the current implementation of PE curricula faces numerous challenges, including inadequate university emphasis, imperfect facilities, weak faculty strength, monotonous teaching content, and outdated teaching methods, resulting in unsatisfactory physical literacy outcomes among college students. Meanwhile, factors such as changing lifestyles, academic and employment pressures, and misconceptions about sports further hinder the improvement of physical literacy. This study aims to explore the relationship between PE curriculum implementation and physical literacy cultivation among college students, propose targeted improvement suggestions based on assessments and analyses of the current status, and delve into the cultivation mechanisms and development patterns to optimize PE courses and enhance college students' physical literacy. Theoretically, this research will enrich the theoretical framework of physical education; practically, it will promote the all-round development of college students, elevate their overall quality and competitiveness, and contribute to China's modernization drive.

Strengthening the meaning in life among college students: the role of self-acceptance and social support - evidence from a network analysis.

Meaning in life, which has two possible sources: self-acceptance and social support, is essential to the mental health and development of college students. The current study aims to further clarify the symptom-level relations between meaning in life, self-acceptance, and social support, finding possible ways to improve meaning in the life of college students. Thousand three hundred and forty-eight Chinese college students completed the online questionnaire, including Self-acceptance Questionnaire, Social Support Rating Scale, and Meaning in Life Questionnaire and the data from 1,263 participants was used. Cross-sectional network analysis was used to examine the relation between self-acceptance and social support. We also explored the relation between dimensions of self-acceptance and social support and meaning in life using the flow network. The results show symptom "SlA" (self-acceptance) is the bridge symptom linking self-acceptance and social support. In the flow diagrams, "SlA" is directly and positively associated with the presence of meaning. Objective Support shares the strongest positive association with the search for meaning. The symptom "SIA" may be an important targeting symptom when trying to improve the meaning in life of college students. Additionally, social support is essential for college students to develop meaning in life.

Vocational Identity Development and Agency of Chinese College Students: Effects of Filial Piety and Implications in Career Education

Balancing family obligations and personal vocational aspirations is vital for college students as stepping into adulthood. By integrating the indigenous psychological and personal-social perspectives, this review article discussed theoretical perspectives and empirical studies on the role of agency and the effects of Filial Piety in college students' vocational identity development. Existing studies and theoretical perspectives indicated that Filial Piety, the core Chinese value of parent-child interaction, may influence college students' vocational identity by shaping specific agentic capacities and the psychological foundation of agency development. This article also reviewed related educational models and effectiveness studies for applications in career education. In conclusion, this article suggested future studies to elaborate on the effects of filial piety on college students' vocational identity and agentic capacities. It also suggested career educational programs to enhance the agency of college students to handle family-related challenges in career development.

The idea of creative reflexivity and its psychological substantiation

The article argues the importance of the personality’s reflective potential as their ability to self-aware and adequately assess themselves and the surrounding world in order to act effectively in an unstable and rapidly changing natural environment and social environment. The p u r p o s e of the current investigation is the psychological substantiation of the idea of creative reflexivity as a guiding idea for the further conceptualization of the current subject field of the author’s research. The o b j e c t of study is psychodidactically actualized in the educational process of institutions of higher education the reflective potential and creative abilities of the future teacher’s personality, and its s u b j e c t is psychological conditions and peculiarities of the creative reflexivity development of the pedagogical college students in their system-creating center – a deed of creative reflection. At the same time, r e f l e x i v i t y at the level of a person is a quality, trait or state of consciousness, and r e f l e c t i o n is a mental or personal process; therefore, reflexivity is actualized and developed through the ability to reflect; then creative reflexivity is the potential for creative, non-standard, in-depth self-cognition and self-construction of a personal trait-property of an adult, namely as their original intellectual capacity for their own multiaspect self-awareness – mental and social experience, motivations and means of activity, psycho-emotional and intentional states, everyday and existential problems, process and results of one’s thinking-activity, etc. In their genesis, they go through a certain path of development from fragmentary, separate manifestations in the womb of other cognitive processes to their integral-self existence as a personality, primarily own needs, motives, deeds and as their ability for own self-awareness, self-development, self-improvement, self-creation. The methodological basis of the specialists’ creative reflexivity development in the socio-humanitarian sphere in general and of the future teacher in particular in the process of professional education within Higher education institutions is the cyclical-deed approach by A. V. Furman as the center of the post-non-classically oriented vita-cultural methodology, as well as the fundamental foundations of the modular-developmental system of education, which substantiates its social-cultural mission, based on the principles of mentality, spirituality, development, modularity.
