The contents of this book have been adopted from tape recordings of seminars conducted for physicians and dentists. Essentially it deals with techniques of hypnosis written in simple form for the nonpsychiatrist. The first 6 pages are devoted to history, 1 to current developments, and 5 to theory. Certainly this is not much of a background for a potential practitioner! In fact, this is a textbook for technicians who plan on using a method fraught with dangerous complications. So much has been written in warning, so many people have taken stands against the indiscriminate use of a psychological technique by novices, that the reviewer's decrying this book will probably deter no-one from treating the psychiatric conditions, exemplified in this book, for which psychiatric knowledge is essential.
